When I started boardtheory, I was 13 in my parents basement. Used a cheap planer from Harbor freight, sanding block and a surform…. I just wanted to find a board that worked with the way my body moved with the oceans movements , I yearned for bliss or comenection btw the two . The surfers energy and the waves. 12 years later n I’m still doing it the same way. Every board is done start to finish by my hands , all the way thru. i tried brightening the images of the smog around the glass bottle but it didn’t reveal much other than it POSSIBLY being on top of a TV . im trying for the life of me to connect this back to any of the previous games somehow. you hear this thing shattering at the end of the trailer!!!!

help the text bubbles confuse me so much are the dark ones thoughts? do all of chells signs have bubbles? im distressed (being over dramatic)

I'm a little confused here myself, what do you mean "dark ones"?

The thought bubbles in chapter 1 are glados's internal monologue as she's recalling the memory of chell coming back to the facility:

For chell's signs, yes, her speech bubbles are orange. Glados's speech bubbles use all caps and are a jagged, "electric" shape and are colored yellow

I met another interpreter who likes D&D last week, and it got me thinking about signing spellcasters again. So hi! Have you ever considered the interplay between sign language and spellcasting components? The fact that many spells in D&D require verbal and somatic components creates some fun linguistic puzzles and opportunities for creative language use if a caster’s primary language is a sign language. Like:

- A Deaf spellcaster who signs the verbal components with one hand and simultaneously forms the somatic components with the other in an impressive display of dexterity as well as magical and linguistic mastery.

- A Deaf spellcaster who incorporates the the somatics for a spell into their signing (a la ASL number stories/ABC stories). They turn signs into somatics and somatics into signs. Each spell they cast is thought out, carefully crafted, and uniquely theirs.

I just. I love ASL I love mages I love it when people get creative with language, the special interests go brrrrrrr

#discussion question: do you think somatics are primarily about handshape movement or placement? #I think the order of importance in my mind is movement > handshape > placement. but handshape and movement are almost equal #op is hearing #but I’ve been signing for over 10 years and I got my degree in Deaf Studies #eve talks #dungeons and dragons

I've been teaching my class some basic little bits of sign language, like the Days of the Week and stuff but man it's so hard to get any of them (incl the adults in the class) to sign anything correctly regardless of how many times I explain it. today someone asked me the sign for Weather and I just said I didn't know it off the top of my head. the sign for Weather is close enough to the sign for "having sex" that frankly I'm not going to teach any of them it

i did not miss how opaque ASL teacher is about stuff. it took until This week when i specifically asked her to find out that yeah there actually Are names for handshapes beyond just the alphabet and numbers, she just didn't feel the need to share that so i spent this entire time getting marked down bc i couldn't take notes with the correct names for handshapes
