Bos is the one thing keeping this company (also, cam and donna) together
the mutiny party!!
joe thinking his replacement is an odd choice for the job when his replacement is a carbon copy of him -> look at him, coming close to self awareness (and he hates it)
gordon's evolution, health wise, is tough to watch. those are scary symptoms. really puts into perspective how good he's doing in season 4
"who needs a guy" is such an iconic title because, at the end of the episode, you realize that it's you! you need a guy! the guy they just killed off!!!
You can call me Ghosthorse (she/her). I am twenty-something. Some things on this blog are suitable for 18+ only.
My main fandom is Only Murders in the Building. Right now we're in the off-season, so I'm mostly occupied with my vintage game show obsession (specifically Match Game and Family Feud, because I have a big, weird crush on Richard Dawson). I watch a lot of TV, so I reblog Succession, Barry, The Bear, and more.
I'll ship anything and everything if it's written well enough. But Detective Kreps and Poppy White from OMITB season 2 are my OTP! ❤️ My shipping posts about them are tagged #kreps x poppy.
Sometimes I make gifs.
Look under the cut for a guide to my fics ☺️

Match Game
match the stars (18+)
Richard Dawson/Reader. Remember above the cut when I said I was obsessed with old game shows? I wasn't joking. This is pure, self-indulgent wish fulfillment.
OMITB
i'll be like a wildflower (18+)
Kreps/Poppy. What happens after they lock eyes at the Chicken Chug.
Coney Island Night Shift (18+)
Kreps/Poppy. My idea of what a romantic evening looks like for these two once they're settled in NYC.
holding hands and twisting knives (18+)
Kreps/Poppy. How they managed to frame the mayor of Chickasha for a fake murder. Includes some Poppy backstory and some smut. I swear it’s my masterpiece ✨
Coming soon eventually: Poppy/Cinda??? Just trust me on this, it’ll make sense!
HACF
make me forget my sorrow (18+)
Joe/Gordon. Noncon and just generally dark and upsetting, dealing with Gordon's illness and his close but uneasy connection with Joe.
Stuck
Cam/Donna. A little angsty, a little silly and sweet.
Classic films
Early Morning Rain
Casablanca, Rick/Louis. Written for Yuletide 2013, my most popular work, and I can understand why. It is soft and tender in a way I am no longer capable of being.
Echoes (18+)
The Third Man, Holly/Harry. I wrote this for Porn Battle. Does anyone remember Porn Battle on LJ? Those were good times.
Uhhhmm someone else please tell me they have both read Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin and watched Halt and Catch Fire and also noticed the last two thirds of the book broadly mirror soooo many events in hacf season 2-4, especially events around Donna and Cameron’s relationship mirroring Sam and Sadie’s ?????
i have officially started my hacf rewatch. i don't want this to turn into a binge-watch so i'm trying to stick to a "no more than 1 episode a day" rule. considering i won't be able to watch one every day, this will take a while
to the 10 or so people in this fandom: is there anything you'd like to see giffed that haven't been yet? either a specific scene or a more broad theme. i'm thinking especially of the latter one as finding specific scenes to fit a broader theme can be time consuming, the beginning of a rewatch is the right time to ask for it
Another year has gone by and I would once again love to hear about your favourite shows of the year (2023 I mean), as you always have impeccable taste!
Hope you're good 😊 X
Hiiiiii! lol I am glad that we are taste compatible??? Also thank you??? Okay, here's my favorites from last year, vaguely in order of when I watched them, NOT ranked:
Willow, first and only season rip (okay most of this season aired in 2022 but i only caught up in time for the last two episodes which aired in 2023 so it counts! i had so much fun with this show and disney fucked them over so bad that it can now only be watched by piracy. i love you show and hope you come back someday somehow.)
Poker Face, first season (what a fun conceit for a show, i just had a great time every week. dream natasha lyonne role.)
The Great, third and final season rip* (i thought this was a beautiful season of television. beautifully acted and written. i'm not actually mad about this cancellation personally. i think it ended in a really cool place. yes, they probably could have done really interesting things with a fourth season, but i didn't *need* it. love love love.)
Barry's, fourth and final season (genius. showstopping. insanity-inducing.)
Mrs. Davis, first and only season (weird lapsed catholic shit featuring intense AI/capitalism skepticism starring betty gilpin? made for me.)
Reservation Dogs, third and final season (went out on such a high note. a privilege to watch)
The Afterparty, second and final season rip (this show needed one more season, and it was set up so perfectly for it so i'm sad. i had a GREAT time though)
Revenant, first (and only?) season (kim tae-ri, our generation's best actor. quote me on it.)
The Newsreader, second season (i actually watched both seasons this year and i loooooooove it. @ followers who maybe came here for hacf, watch this because i feel like you'll love it :))
Fargo, fifth season (midwest niceTM family meets jaded centuries-old sineater? yes. noah hawley writes good. that covers it.)
Talk to me about Halt and Catch Fire! Have not watched. Should I after I’m done with my Americans rewatch? ❣️
please do!!! it leveled me by the end. recommending Halt and Catch Fire to everyone is like the highlight of my social interactions right now. you have to power through a paint-by-numbers first season that’s trying too hard to be Mad Men But in the ‘80s With Computers, but they retooled the show in season 2 to pull back from Lee Pace’s Don Draper character and focus on the engine that really powers the story, which is relationship between the two main women — Cameron (Mackenzie Davis), a young programming genius, and Donna (Kerry Bishé), a mom with a computer engineering background — who go into business together. their friendship and working partnership is the romance of the show (figuratively, yes, but that’s its power. I love how much tenderness Halt finds in unconventional bonds).
I’ve never seen a show that’s better at writing the passage of time. the story starts in 1983 and ends in 1994, which on the surface is just because that’s when a lot of stuff was happening with computers, but thematically the point is that everything ends. you can spend years working on a project that someone else makes obsolete overnight. in the long run it’s a story about how fleeting success and failure are, which the show makes into something beautiful and oddly freeing. the only marker of a life that matters is who you spent it with, and even those relationships aren’t failures if they end, because they still happened.
I don’t want to compare it too much to The Americans bc they’re very different shows, but they do share underground ‘80s moodiness, Peter Gabriel needle drops, and the ability to find big drama in small things. I think they pair well. plus Halt and Catch Fire is a tight 40 episodes, and it’s very watchable, so it flies by. don’t skip season 1 even though it’s rough; it does well at introducing Donna, who I think is the show's best character, and the final season hits harder when you’ve seen everyone through a full decade. I’ve been sitting with the finale for weeks.
