Sorry for the novel. I recently got into Hawaii 5-0 and am already rewatching it. (Got hooked. Sad I didn't get into it sooner) Being late to the party, you miss the parties. I'm amazed how much of my feelings/view have changed on the second viewing.

I will always dislike Doris. That won't change. With Catherine, it's odd, because I enjoyed her presence at first, giving her the "you go girl" (well prior to season five), but now, nope. It bug the crap out of me that they made this the Endgame. Granted, it could be because I don't like the finale. "Oh, Steve needs a break to unwind for his mental stability, but hey, let's get him back with Catherine who hasn't stop moving." But whatever (yes, an angry whatever)

Before watching H50, I heard of McDanno. Like Spirk in Star Trek. So going in I expected to a closeness (I know we fans love to read into stuff), but I never expected it to this degree. I thought McDanno fans were hyping it up, but no,there're times that I go, "Dude." Then I laughed as I wonder if Catherine ever felt jealous, the third wheel, the other woman next to Danny. And though H50 is over and I know it won't, it still feels like it could. Steve and Danny could make out and i wouldn't bat an eye. With some fan favorite couple, you know there is no chance even with the writer throwing in jabs. There is queer baiting and there is queer baiting. Example, sending McDanno to couple retreat weekend. All the "I love you"s. Danny not caring where he landed the plane as Steve bleeds out next to him. Steve's freak out over Danny in the Series finale. Why they do this to us?

No matter how many viewing, McDanno's moments never get tiring. making me smile when I need it.

I wish I got into the show sooner too, anon! But what matters is now. The good thing is that now we can have discussions together.

And that’s kinda how I feel too about cath too… I think the writers overall suck at writing romatic relationships for the boys. There’s no better way to put it. And cath/steve suffered from that. And the finale was… bad for a few reasons, for sure.

And yeah I guess mcdanno has gained some ‘fame’ during h50’s run. Not to mention all the people in the show itself asking if they were married. However, as I’ve said in another ask. There was hope/people wishing for mcdanno and other ships like it to be canon. However, it didn’t happen. 

And whether or not you ship the boys, you have to admit it’s a great friendship. And that’s why the finale kinda hurt too. They love each other, and they’ve never really left each other’s side. I completely understand steve feeling like he needed to leave. But of course it felt a little (or a lot) out of character for him.

I also agree with you there at the end. I’ll never get tired of all the arguments and dedication they had for each other. (Basically the times they showed that to each other.) It never gets old.

9.19 - a different review

Melancholy - that’s what I felt circling through my heart when this episode ended. The wonderful music at the end, highlighting the sorrows of Junior’s father steadied that bitter-sweet, yet tender feeling.

Do you know why?

Because of how Life changes without the chance to ever go back where my yearning wants to drag me. My heart beats for McDanno, for Steve and Danny. For H50.

I will always be in love with Hawaii Five-0, always. And I will always ship McDanno. My love for the guys is fierce and steady. But it will never be the same again not in the way it was when it started. And that’s a good thing. Change happens and there’s no way to fight that. You can’t. Nobody can fight change.

I’m rewatching all H50 episodes and I’m currently in the middle of season 3. The intensity, the richness of feelings, all the emotions, the peak of my adrenalin that shoots into my system is inebriating and the action surges through my system, leaving me gasping for air. Steve and Danny are in the middle of making out for the first time (figuratively of course...). Moments feel like sucker punches to my gut and I love the hell out of it.

And just like Life itself, they move on. All of them. They change to never be the same again. And it’s a good thing. Steve and Danny grow into their relationship and the intense kick wears off, just like it does with a relationship in real life. You grow with each other, you start to be one in mind but you live your life. The butterflies turn into a steady hum that grows into the backbone of a relationship.

Until one day it’s okay to step back a little, let younger people party hard, others should be out on happenings while you lean back at home, comfy on your couch with your arm full of your one and only, the love of your life. Just like Steve and Danny.

I get that. I get that Steve and Danny don’t want to be on screen all the time. I get that Alex and Scott have their RL where they want to be. I get that they have other projects that suck them in. H50 will always and forever in their blood, singing, shouting, bonding.

But there’s no need to prove that on screen. I get that and yet it makes me sad and I feel melancholic because change means to let go. And I’m not ready yet but it happens right before my eyes.

I enjoyed 9.19. It was a good episode. But the change is there and my melancholy too.

I know other fandoms have re-watch parties. We could watch the pilot and one other episode? I have NO idea how other fandoms do this, so if anybody knows how this works…

I do have digital copies of all the episodes. I could put the pilot and the ‘top ten’ episodes in google drive. Then we could take a survey of what the second episode for the rewatch party will be? would that work?

if so, then I need a list of what y’all think the top ten episodes (besides the pilot) are!

Would y’all like to do a bingo card challenge? I could post bingo cards in January, so people have plenty of time to make stuff!

If so, then what about saying anything goes for the bingo challenge—fic, art, photos, vids, etc. What do y’all think?

Another thing that might be fun is all of us doing ‘3 recs and 10 things’ posts that day:

3 recs for cool H50 fan stuff (3 great fanvids, 3 favorite fanfics, etc)

10 things from show (10 funny moments, 10 whump moments, 10 ohana moments, etc)

again, what does the Hawaii Five-Ohana think? would that be a fun but easy way to celebrate 3-10?

things we really need: Some March 10th graphics and pix, cheerleaders and rebloggers, and enthusiasm! and maybe a Camaro😁

sadly, I can think of no way to gift every amazing person is this fandom their very own buttercream grenade-shaped cake. Although I guess we could pass the salt…

Rewatch Party for Hawaii Five 0!

OK, so I did some research and we have several options for a rewatch party for Hawaii Five-0 on March 10 (Friday) The first step is for me to load the pilot and ten other episodes into google drive, second step is we then decide the second episode we want to watch (along with pilot) and then:

🌸OPTION 1: somebody streams the video in the discord server, and we can all watch and chat.

Problem 1 - I am a nomad and me trying to stream anything will be problematic in the location I will be camped in March. So somebody else would have to do the streaming.

Problem 2 - Discord can supposedly get very glitchy if you try to watch videos.

🌸OPTION 2: There are some apps that we can all download, so we dan stream google drive videos and still chat.

Problem 1 - you have to plug google drive into these apps and its supposedly kind of tricky.

Problem 2 - google drive is super glitchy on these apps.

🌸Option 3: Everyone just downloads the episodes, and then watches on their own device or screen, while we chat.

Problem 1 - Requires people to have two devices or do a split screen/corner screen, so they can watch and chat.

Problem 2 - We would have to decide where we want to chat. I think? the discord server would be easiest but we could also see if the mods at fan forum would allow us to make a discussion thread on the H50 forum.

I am thinking option 3 is easiest—and we just use discord—but what do y’all think? Any ideas or options I missed???

also, also I am currently aiming to have the pilot, plus the 10 most requested episodes, uploaded to google drive by mid-January so—I am still looking for the episodes everyone wants!

currently it looks like 2x10 (North Korea rescue) 3x6 (bomb episode) and 5x17 (stakeout episode) and 7x18 (school dance hostages) are pretty popular!

of course, if we can figure this out, then we can have other rewatch parties since we would need to watch the other 9 episodes, right?😄
