The Brother's Sun Season 1 episode 3 Whatever You Want
Before Gunpowder Milkshake, I only had a vague idea of who Michelle Yeoh was. Now, I'm obsessed.
Michelle Yeoh was Florence in Gunpowder Milkshake. And I see reminders of Florence in this show. Michelle's posture, the way she turns her head. I love it.
I love the family dynamics of the household. I love June.
But in episode 2, the sun made June's hair look red. And I think it looked better that way.

Gunpowder Milkshake movie review time!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This movie has been off and on my radar for awhile now, there was even a time a while back I started it and watched 1/4 before stopping due to having something come up. That all said the other night, myself and uncle watched it together. He had already seen it but I had sadly kinda forgotten about its existence. However it blew me away; that said I will admit I’ve always been a sucker for many of the tropes they presented us with in this movie. But as a whole this movie was fun, wholesome, active, and just all around an amazing time. I wanted to spend forever with these characters and upon finishing it, my usual need to find a book or something that’s similar to fill the void began to kick in. If you haven’t see it already I highly recommend it (as does my dog Olive from what she watched of it.) it’s currently available on Netflix.

Y'all, did you know there's a movie with Karen Gillian, Lena Headey, Angela Bassett, Michelle Yeoh and Carla Gugino ? And they fuck shit up beautifully and make dum-dum men eat their teeth ?
It's called Gunpowder Milkshake, it's a Netflix movie and it's awesome. Crazy, high-adrenaline, bloody and soooooo enjoyable.
It's my favourite genre of movies, the ones where you give a bunch of women knives, guns, hammers and chains and let them go nuts on patriarchy and dumb men.
Watching these 5 women massacre a whole room of guys with nothing more than a few guns, a machine gun, a couple of machetes and knives is the highest form of enjoyment I've found lately.

A “QUICK!” Review of “Gunpowder Milkshake (2021)”
Tumblr media
The story and characters are unfortunately very bare bone. It doesn't help that some of the action is incredibly goofy and has fights that rely on the men being idiots.
However, the action is very stylistic, with some nice use of blood and gore. Plus the score composed by Frank Ilfman is very good and there is some great use of music within the film. The cast do a pretty good job as well.
The movie is enjoyable if all you want to see is someone get stabbed or shot.

Shows and Movies I recomend watching at least once.
Movies:
The Invitation- I went into this movie knowing nothing except for there are vampires. But think of it as is Bram Stoker’s Dracula had a child with Ready or Not and Get Out. It’s such a good movie.
Bullet Train- I went into this movie knowing nothing, absolutuly nothing. It is seriously the best movie of this year. It’s funny and whitty. I mean putting a Percy the train Sticker on Logan Lerman, The white girl tears from Joey King, The fucking twins??? Cowardice Brad Pitt. Serously. Not to mention the foreshadowing is A1. And the breaking news in the very first scene. My only issue with it is the Romeo and Juilete death. but this is my new comfort movie.
Gunpowder Milkshakes- this one came out last year, and it feels kinda Lemony Snickety but for adults, Karen Gillian is in it and i will literally watch anything she is in because I love her, but biasis aside its a good fucking movie. Its another assassins movie but it features badass women. Definatly a movie to see if any one is a misogynist. Its also a feel good movie, and funny i watched it last night and have not stopped thinking about it.
Glass Onion- I think we all knew this was coming but its a good movie and i hope we do get more of Benoit Blanc. I dont feel the need to explain this one i think everyone has seen it.
Shows:
The Sandman- Highly recomend!!! Please please please dont let netflix cancel it, It is very comic book accurate (despite some costumes, time period, and the change of John Constintine to Joanna) and Joanna is still queer!!! its my biggest fear that this will be its down fall. its so fucking good though. Its been renewed for a second season and i cannot wait.
Alice in Borderland- admittly i havent read the webcomic this is based on, but i still really enjoyed it. Season two came out a few days ago and i could not stop watching!!!
Inside Man- David Tennet as a Vicar, Stanley Tucci what more could you ask for? more than six episodes thats for sure.
All of us are Dead- Im not a zombie fan, but this show was so good it put me in a mood to watch a bunch of KDrama zombie stuff. It focuses on like survial tips like Zombie Land but in a serious way and not a funny way.
I realize these are all pretty basic but I just loved consuming them so much. And if you haven’t seen any of these I serisouly recommend you watch them at least once.

Happy 35th Birthday the Bonnie Lassie Karen Gillan, born in Inverness November 28th 1987.
Karen loved acting early on and worked in several youth theatre groups. After gaining an HNC Acting and Performance course at Edinburgh’s Telford College she moved to London at age 18 to study at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts.
Gillan was scouted by a modelling agency before working as an actress. Karen appeared in Rebus in 2006 but it was her casting as the Doctor’s companion, Amy Pond, on the long-time hit U.K. sci-fi TV program Doctor Who that led to her career breakthrough.
In her charity work she has helped promote Fashion Targets Breast Cancer and opened a ward at Great Ormond Street Hospital. In 2013 she shaved her hair off for.
A favourite with US fans on the show, Karen took the big step over to Hollywood in the TV show NTSF:SD:SUV  an American television comedy. Staying in America she was then cast the lead in Selfie, an American single-camera sitcom for ABC.
It is not all Hollywood with Miss Gillan  as she returned to Scotland to star in an indie Scottish romantic comedy called Not Another Happy Ending alongside Emun Elliott, who she incidentally shares a birthday with but is 4 years his junior. It’s a decent film, if you want to watch it you can find it on Amazon Prime, or Netflix.
On 2nd November 2016, it was announced that Gillan was to write, direct and star in her feature directorial debut with Burbank-based development and production company Mt. Hollywood Films’ indie drama project titled Tupperware Party.  Set in her home city of Inverness released in 2018 and retitled The Party’s Just Beginning, It’s a decent first effort from Karen and it will be interesting to see if she continues to write and direct in the future.
No matter what she decides to do Karen Gillan will find no shortage of work, I counted 10 films since The Party’s Just Beginning till this year, and another four projects in varying stages of production, including the third in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Karen has supported the charities Fashion Targets Breast Cancer (FTBC) and helped out Great Ormond Street Hospital and earlier this year she visited the Mikeysline crisis support centre in Inverness after presenting her film The Party’s Just Beginning. The film is about the high suicide rate in the Scottish Highlands, and Gillan made a public pledge to support the mental health charity.
Last year Karen says she misses Inverness and wants to swap LA for Scottish Highlands. When asked if she pined for her home town, she said: “Yes, I do - every single day, I’m so homesick. I keep looking up houses in the Highlands, thinking I’m just going to move back . But then, for some reason, I can never seem to do it and there’s always some work reason not to and now I’m in Los Angeles, even though it’s not my favourite city in the world.
In 2021 Karen starred in the action crime thriller,  Gunpowder Milkshake, which is available on Netflix, apparently they have already confirmed they want a follow up sequel.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is due to hit the cinemas next May and Rhona Who Lives by the River an animated  TV Series for Disney+. will also air.
On being asked about her nationality once Karen commented
I am legitimately Scottish. I can officially say - yes. Yeah, I am from Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland. The last two pics are from this weekends Tokyo Comic con, where Kaaren was presented with flowers and a cake to mark her birthday, don’t you just love the cat sweatshirt!

Gunpowder Milkshake (2021)
To protect an 8-year-old girl, a dangerous assassin reunites with her mother and her lethal associates to take down a ruthless crime syndicate and its army of henchmen.
Tumblr media
JayBell: This movie is like a very satirical neo-noir situation, but then they give up on the neo-noir bit halfway through. I like Karen Gillian, and she plays a badass in the movie which is fun. It was over-the-top at times but in a self-aware kind of way. Like the whole deal with the hat that Karen Gillian’s character wears and the whole bit with the milkshake (which kind of weirded me out a little).
There was a big mother-daughter conflict. Honestly, I didn’t understand how the mom was really protecting the daughter by ditching her for so many years but also mentions how she’s been watching her from afar? Sure maybe stay away when she’s a kid, but your daughter is a grown ass adult assassin now. Surely a phone call, a clandestine meeting, a note by carrier pigeon would be okay now.
Also they definitely had time to stash the innocent little girl somewhere safe after the whole hospital escape scene. At that point, the bad guys aren’t after her at all. Just drop her off at a neighbor’s house or a church or something while you go kill some people. And while the little girl is a great character (great child actress too), she’s way too mature for her age. There’s no way she has the emotional ability to forgive her father’s murderer that quickly. But it is good for the story.
All in all, it’s just an entertaining action movie. The fight scenes are pretty good, the characters are fun, and it has a certain style too it that’s interesting to watch.
Rating: 5.5/10 cats 🐈
Tumblr media
Anzie: I was pleasantly surprised with how entertaining this movie was since a lot of what I’ve watched on Netflix recently has been duds. But it was fun and dare I say maybe the Girl Gang version of John Wick. Not as good tho, nobody could touch John Wick. I will say the injuries in this movie may have made me go ooof more that the John Wick movies. The aesthetics were fun and groovy and a lot was put into the scenes in just terms of aesthetic and detail, although the music was out there??? Like I don’t know why half of the movie’s fight scenes were to mariachi music?? But what do I know? Very little and at that even less. The cast was verrrry good and I have no idea how Angela Bassett and Michelle Yeoh look as great as the do and never age. It’s rude frankly. The whole concept of the library is really cool too in a movie like this.
Howevvvver, I would be me if I didn’t have some qualms. First off I know it’s a different world like with all the criminal stuff but if someone killed my father bc their boss said and even if they saved me- I don’t think I’m gonna be your bestie. Like I hold grudges for less. Soo that was weird. Also the way they have Karen Gillan talk without an inflection sometimes was just icky- like I know she’s an assassin and probs has very little emotion or tries or whatevs- but it made the dialogue at some points feel cringe for suuure. But it can be overlooked for books that hide weapons and the cool bowling jacket.
Rating: 6/10 Cats 🐈

Prompt- New Year’s
Prompt- “Everybody has a type…”
Warnings: age gap (all legal), kissing, light teasing, flustering, light pet names, new years kiss, etc.
Enjoy (;
The library was aglow with the nights festivities. It was new years, and the three librarians were hosting the New Year’s Eve party. Madeleine had decked out the entire library with festive decorations.
You were Madeleine’s niece. There was a good amount of people at the party, but not too much to be overwhelming. Madeleine, Florence, and Anna May were of course all in attendance. Scarlet, her daughter, and her daughter were there as well, along with a few other close friends and relatives of the librarians.
Aunt Madeleine had been trying to push you out of your introvert shell as of late. You were hesitant at first, but you quickly came around when you realized how attractive her female counterpart librarians were.
With your mother having been absent throughout practically your entire childhood, you couldn’t help the mommy issues which magnetized you to any older woman. You didn’t mind Florence or Scarlet, they were both easy on the eyes.
But the moment you walked into the party and shook hands with Anna May, you belonged to that woman. She just didn’t know it yet… or did she…?
Madeleine had recently brought out drinks, handing you some champagne and encouraging you in a whisper to socialize. You were quite sure that she meant Sam, Scarlet’s daughter who was close to you in age, but you didn’t hold much interest in her.
Instead you gravitated towards Florence, who was leaning against a bookshelf and drinking something that looked to be much stronger than champagne. She nodded in your direction, acknowledging you as you walked up to her.
“Hi…” you nervously breathed out.
Pretty, older women always gave you butterflies and nerves…
“Hello…” Florence hummed, “Y/N right? Your Madeleine’s niece…?”
You nodded, taking a sip of your champagne to drink away the nerves.
“Mhmmm yeah” you said softly, “and you work here with Aunt Madeleine…?”
“I do.” Florence noted with a hum, taking a sip of her own drink, “Madeleine tells me you have an interest in our craft. She teaching you?”
“Yeah, she’s teaching me”
“I heard you’re a natural…” another woman’s voice butted in, Anna May.
She had come up behind you without you noticing. It made you shiver and almost yelp in surprise. But you quickly swallowed your desperate little whimper.
“Anna May— hi…” you choked out.
Anna May had a drink of her own that she sipped as she looked at you amused. Florence then interrupted your solid four second stare, by realizing and mentioning the time.
“15 minutes till midnight…!” The librarian dressed in mostly green yelled, letting the whole party know.
Florence then left you with Anna May, probably to refill her glass. Anna May twirled her glass in her hands as her eyes rested back on your frame once more. Her gaze racked up and down the figure.
“You’re about Sam’s age, hmmm girl…?”
You gulped and felt the urge to blush, but you suppressed it.
“Mhmmm, yea” you nodded with a breathy answer.
Your breathing was all out of whack.
“Not your type..?” Anna May asked with a chuckle.
You shook your head.
“No, I don’t have one”
“Oh sweet girl…” Anna May cooed, coming up closer, next to you, so that she was against the same bookshelf you were, and close enough to your where you could feel her breath on your neck, “Everybody has a type…”
Your breath hitched and now you definitely blushed. Hard.
And you were sure that Anna May noticed, as a chuckle erupted from her throat and a smirk made its way upon her face.
“10 minutes…!!” Florence announced.
“I can’t believe it’s gonna be a new year… time seems to have… warped by…” you breathed out, trying desperately to change the topic.
Anna May recognized your deflection, but went along with it anyway.
“Yes…” she sighed out, “You going to kiss anyone at midnight?”
Her words came out blunt and so matter of fact. Yet your reaction,as you sipped some champagne to try and cover your blush, was to choke and almost spit out the liquid. You wheezed and tried to remember to take deep breaths.
Once you’d regained your composure somewhat, you looked back to Anna May. She was standing there, watching you, and waiting expectantly for your answer. You couldn’t help but catch the grin on her face, almost like she was proud of the reaction that she had pulled from you.
“I— wasn’t planning on it…” you stammered.
“Hmmmm I was…” Anna May said nonchalantly, but obviously hanging on her sentence to draw your interest, “but I thought you’d kiss Sam…”
“I— No! I mean, she’s nice and all but…” you stammered desperately, at a loss for words on how to explain to this woman that you had no interest for Sam and all the interest in the world for her.
Luckily for you, Anna May already understood that, she was merely teasing you…
“Five minutes till…!!” Florence announced.
You gulped and meet Anna Mays gaze once more.
“But…?” She suggestively said, prompting you to finish your unsaid statement.
“She’s…” you mumbled something incoherently.
Anna May drew closer to you,
“Use your words, sweet girl…” she breathed down your neck.
“She’s not you…” you breathed out in a whisper.
Anna May burned bright at your confession, very satisfied with your admission. She turned to you, grabbing your chin, her gaze connecting with yours.
The party began to count down from 10.
Ten…!
Her eyes sparkled so brilliantly.
Nine—!
Her brows creased, making that thoughtful expression she always wore.
Eight!
Her cheeks burned with a flush red.
Seven…!!
Her lips were plump and partially open.
Six—!!
She licked her lips, her glistening tongue coming out and swiping her upper then lower lip.
Five!!
Your eyes jumped back up to her eyes, they were dark, swirling orbs. Her pupils enlarged and ripe.
Four…!!!
The hand on your chin, caressed your face and pulled you closer to the woman.
Three—!!!
“Is this alright, sweet girl…?” Anna May whispered.
Two!!!
“Mhmmmm… yessss—” you breathed out.
One!!!!
Her lips were on yours. God it felt so heavenly. What you had imagined and better. Her lips were soft and plump. Her kisses were dominant and direct.
You happily let Anna May take the lead. Her lips and tongue guided you through the kiss.
But it seemed that as quickly as it had started, it ended just as fast. She pulled away and you couldn’t help the light whimper that escaped your throat.
Luckily, no one in the room caught it, except Anna May. And she could help the Cheshire Cat like grin on her face.

I had breaks from school/work this week and I remembered a tradition I had a few years ago of watching a movie every night of break! I had an absolute blast doing it this time, and I’m definitely going to make it a tradition for every break I get. I very rarely watch movies otherwise so this was super fun and a different way to mix up my nights
I doubt anyone is going to care but if youre bored and want some very subjective recs, here are all the ones I watched and my ratings. (All on Netflix)
Red notice 9/10
The gray man 8/10
The gentlemen 10/10
Army of thieves 5/10
Gunpowder milkshake 10/10 (it’s about probably fruity women assassins come on)
Kate 6/10
Snow White and the huntsman 8/10
The vault 1/10 (I didn’t connect with anyone or any part of the story really)
Crimson peak 9/10 (incredible but the ending was so sad especially since it was so nearly perfect. I have never rooted for a straight couple so much in my LIFE)
Yeah!! Let me know if you’ve seen any of these and if you agree, I guess? Or if you use these recs haha
