okay but it is SO fucking funny to me that only watering my monstera with like, the leftover water from the water bowl that my cats clumsily drop food in all the fucking time so it’s always goddamn dirty and I’m always washing their bowl and replacing it because they apparently don’t understand how to fucking eat without dropping food in their water every time they go to their damn food bowl, has provided more growth to it than any real fertilizer I’ve ever used
like I have completely neglected this thing except for when I switch out my cats dirty water bowl every day and dump the leftover water/cat food remnants in it into the plant and it has been like absolutely popping the fuck off with growth ever since I’ve started doing this these last few months
did … did I just like … hack plants ??? does dirty cat food water fertilize plants better than the actual fertilizer I have that’s tailored for these specific plants ??? I have a wicked green thumb in general and can grow almost anything already but like … is this the key ??? is this the missing link ??? what have I unlocked here ??? I know so many people who can’t keep plants alive for shit and here I am barely fucking maintaining this fucker WITH JUST DIRTY CAT FOOD WATER and completely ignoring it otherwise and it’s growing ridiculously and putting out new leaves like it’s fucking nothing ??? and monsteras are known to be pretty finicky plants so like ??? I feel like I’ve accidentally stumbled upon and solved some illegal secret fucking growth puzzle bullshit about them by doing this just out of pure laziness and not wanting to spill the dirty water everywhere when I go to clean their bowl so I just dump it in the plant before I leave the room ???
now the urge to experiment and get another monstera to water with just fertilizer water to actually test which one genuinely works better is incredibly strong LMAO

My monstera obliqua and I like to play a game called “Leaf or Runner” where I guess whether the new node is going to be a leaf or a runner.
So far this node is looking like it might give me a leaf. But this fucker likes to get my hopes up and then laugh at me when it continues to run.

It's watering day, and we're getting a nice rain here, so I put the big kids outside for a bit. I love the way their leaves look with rain on them.
Bonus Leia's newest leaf passing the Big Leaf Test:
