Grand Central Terminal, 1957. This view cannot be seen today because skyscrapers have gone up opposite the station, blocking the light from streaming in.

The sun can’t shine through like that now due to the surrounding tall buildings.

Destinations: Grand Central Station (New York City, NY)
Selden paused in surprise. In the afternoon rush of the Grand Central Station his eyes had been refreshed.

now that grand central is filling out the once-empty storefronts on the way to the super-deep LIRR platforms, I decided to browse. in hudson-something there are a lot of magazines, but the shelving goes WAY too high, beyond any reasonable height. i tried to grab a magazine from up there several times since it looked interesting, and in the end had to climb on to the (much more solid than the others) lowest shelf to barely graze the top one. eventually i managed to get the magazine Wallpaper to crash down on my face, only to find out it was $18! I try not to devalue journalism but that's pretty steep. I ended up not buying anything.

Part 5 of shipping different Train Operating companies together.
I am going from North to South currently and I just desperately don't want to talk about them but I guess it is better to rip the plaster off with this one. Don't worry, a much nicer shipping will be posted later today.
Lumo, Hull Trains and Grand Central are the cousins to LNER. LNER tries to avoid them at all costs because Lumo, Hull Trains and Grand Central kind of are a bit more intimate than cousins should be.
Please stay tuned for better relationships than this one.

I finally finished this RIGHT before I flew to visit the recipient, but I did it and it was very well received!
Baby quilt in an 'Attic Window' pattern, ~3'x4'. The primary fabric took nearly a month to arrive, and required a few rounds of dyeing because it was only available in aqua and not teal, but its the constellations from the ceiling of Grand Central Terminal in NYC so it was totally worth it.
