You needed to get away trust me when I say it will be fun and help you at least for awhile to not even think of that asshole." He put the last of her bags into his truck, he was already ready to go to the airport with her. Going to Hawaii with her had been one of the best ideas that he ever had because well she needed it, and Dylan wanted to be there for her. She needed someone and he didn't mind being that person. Hell he was that person for her and he would continue being that person for her. "He isn't worth the second thoughts at all."

Esmeralda was genuinely taken aback by Gemini's words. She thought that she'd done a good job of keeping her bad mood at bay, keeping it from the other woman. Apparently not. "Did it? I just... I don't know, Gem. There isn't really anything to say." Which wasn't exactly true. Really Esme wasn't sure she could find the words to convey her feelings right now. Maybe it would be worth it to try.

The woman sighed, eyes flickering to the floor before refocusing on Gemini. "Sometimes I just get tired of fighting for change all the time and not making any real progress, if that makes sense. Like yes we have come a long way but it just isn't enough. I'll always be the girl with a sign and a megaphone on the picket lines but maybe it would be cool if one day I didn't have to be." As soon as she said it she felt guilty. Esmeralda loved her job, loved seeing people all come together for causes they believed in. The fatigue was real though, try as she might to ignore it.

"... it's not a matter of if, it's when.” kevin muttered as he sat at their kitchen table, almost embarrassed that he even had to bring this up. all of his actions had seemed to catch up with him, and even though he had been otu of the game ever since they adopted ellie, it seemed that his past had finally caught up with him. there were rumors of potential threats here and there and he didn’t think anything of it, until he noticed a couple of suspicious cars following him or even following the boys to school. the last thing he wanted was for anything to happen to the kids, or to leona and this seemed like the only way to keep the whole family together.  “i know everyone likes it here, trust me, i know... i like it here, too. it’s our home. shit i can remember when i first moved in here with you guys.” he said with a sad chuckle and a little shake of his head. there was always the option of just him moving, but he didn’t know if he left if they would follow. they could still continue to stay here and hurt his loved ones, so he knew that getting them all out of there would be the best idea. plus he knew leona wouldn’t like the idea of him leaving and trying to settle somewhere else. 

the kids were asleep thankfully and he had to make sure to keep his voice down. the last thing he wanted was for will or ellie to wake up and hear them having this conversation when nothing was set in stone yet. he knew he would have to eventually act fast but he didn’t want to rush anything. “... you’d hate me having you and the kids stay here, huh?” he muttered already regretting even putting it out in the air. “maybe a nice move would be good for us anyway. we’ve been here forever and... i wouldn’t even bring it up if it wasn’t serious.” hopefully she could see in his eyes just how serious he was. this wasn’t just a suggestion but more so a plan that they needed to act on. “or maybe... i don’t know the kids could stay back with someone, or will and jonathan they have a ton of friends here... ellie’s making some too and... fuck.” he muttered under his breath as he ran a hand through his hair. after their wedding and honeymoon he knew that their happiness was starting to crumble slightly with this bump in the road. 

“do you have any ideas? anything? besides staying of course... i don’t think we can.” he said with another sigh.

So he had went on several dates which most of them ended badly anyways because he wasn’t into hooking up at all. He had wanted a real relationship and now the article was finished. But he had gotten used to using Tinder. Now he had matched with someone else. But this person was certainly interesting, he couldn’t deny that. maverick jane mckinney is the texas-based daughter of a former nba star who, while she was growing up, was always pushing her to be into sports. hence the name - she was named after the dallas mavericks basketball team. she is an only child, so imagine how annoying that was. instead of pursuing basketball, mav ended up loving writing! she is a young adult/middle-grade novelist who has recently been signed for a fantasy trilogy. there has always been a slight rift between mav and her father due to the pressures she was put under as a child - they probably thought the other hated them and vice versa - but the truth is, they just didn't know how to communicate. but i'd love for them to have a sort of breakthrough when her father realizes that the main character in her book has a dad just like him. while her father initially thinks the depiction of him is negative, it's eventually revealed that her depiction of him is quite positive.
