This genocide is the second instance in the last five years that really highlights that the permanent members of the security council should not have a voice if they are involved in an issue
Russia should not be able to veto resolutions on ukraine, America should not be able to veto resolutions on israel
Like Secretary General Guterres said in the meeting; “the eyes of the world and the eyes of history are upon us”
The American exceptionalism propaganda is failing and rotting, I will never forgive nor forget the country who didn’t listen to the world and it’s own people begging it to stop funding extermination, not in a million years

So on Tuesday my wife and I dropped off the paperwork to register as legally married and as part of that I want to finally legally change my name. I haven’t used my deadname in decades and I’m so ready.
But the very nice lady at the Recorders office said we’d need to go through Social Security for name changes. Since we were already in the city we walked to the SS office.
The ground floor was like a TSA, with scanners and guards. They asked, “Do you have any weapons?”
We both did. My wife held out their cute Swiss Army knife which got an immediate pass. Mine caused more issue, though. It’s a cute little knife, it folds up to look like a leaf and unfolds into a blade. I showed the man and he looked gravely concerned.
When he asked to see it closer I obliged, folding it closed so I could take it off my key ring to hand over. And this man. This buff security man. Could not open my cutesy little knife to save his life. He futilely pawed at it from all different angles while I tried to say, “Look, you can see the hinge, just pull at the top…”
Finally he had to hand it back so I could open it for him. Then two other men came over and all three Very Serious Security Men in a Federal Building pored over my tiny cute knife with great intensity and concern. A ruler was produced and they conferred in hushed whispers.
I was honestly trying not to laugh when he finally passed it back and said I could keep it, but cautioned me not to pull it out. I solemnly agreed, returning my tiny weapon to my key ring.

What is government securities (Gsec)?
Government securities are a type of debt instrument issued by the government to raise funds for various budgetary needs. Unlike other debt instruments, government securities are considered to be virtually risk-free since they are backed by the full faith and credit of the issuing government. Investors looking for a safe and secure investment option often turn to government securities. The main advantage of investing in government securities is that they offer very low default risk. In fact, government securities are often referred to as “risk-free” investments. This is because the issuing government stands behind the full faith and credit of the security, meaning that it will make all interest and principal payments in a timely manner. Another advantage of investing in government securities is that they tend to be very liquid. This means that investors can easily buy and sell them in the secondary market without having to worry about finding a willing buyer or seller. Government securities also offer a great deal of flexibility in terms of maturity dates and coupon payments. However, despite their many advantages, there are also some risks associated with investing in government securities. The most significant risk is interest rate risk. This occurs when interest rates rise after you have purchased a security with a fixed interest rate. If you need to sell your security before it matures, you may have to do so at a loss due to the decline in market value that results from rising interest rates. Inflation risk is another concern for investors in government securities.

DP x DC Prompt
This, but it's because their flight home was canceled due to Gotham's airport being destroyed. And they didn't want to drive all the way back.
The reason it all started was because Tucker was really bored and was getting a bit frustrated when he couldn't get past one of WE's many firewalls. He had already skimmed through everything else and concluded that Gotham's Brucie Wayne was a literal angel sent from heaven to one the worst cities in the world because he committed a crime so horrific that not even God could look him in his pretty little face anymore and that firewall proved it!
So to cool his head off, he decided to hack into a bank. Banks were pretty easy, right? Almost anyone could do it with just enough knowledge and the proper equipment. What he DIDN'T expect was just how EASY it was to do so. Laughably so, to the point it made him cry.
Did Gotham's rouges or Gothamites in general not like money? Not even the small-time rouges? Because he KNEW those operations that they try to pull off cost money. Shit tons!
So when his laughter became so disturbing that his friends and even his frenemies got concerned, all he had to do was show them what he found out. Which sent them spiraling into laughter as well. Like, c'mon, even Amity Park's bank was more secure than that and they only had fucking GHOST CRIME!
As the tears began to dry, and the laughter turned to giggles, one of the girls suggested something.
Star: Why don't we, like, rob it or something?
The hotel room went silent and Star started to fidget. Then she started to ramble.
Star: I mean like, we don't have to. It was kind of a joke anyway, since their security's so bad ya know, and I'm pretty sure we're gonna be here for a while and-
Dani: Star, baby, sweetie, honey. Why are you justifying yourself when we were all probably thinking the same thing, right?
Nod and hums of agreement filled the girl with relief.
Wes: Besides it's not a class trip unless we cause some trouble right?
They all then pilled into the bed and around Tucker as his finger flew across the keyboard.
Tucker: So, where are we hitting up first?

if you're terrified for your country's elections next year because a lot of people seem to think the solution to the government handling an international conflict in an abysmal and deplorable way is to let a group of total monsters who would handle it MUCH worse AND also potentially doom huge swaths of oppressed people at home as well as our entire literal planet get into power, by ignoring the way our deeply flawed but also deeply entrenched system realistically works
clap your hands...?
(I cannot understand trying to stop heinous and unnecessary killing- which disgusts and saddens me, too! how could it not?! -by handing the election to people who want to do even more of that exact thing. the math isn't mathing, as they say)

UK leader in peril after Treasury chief axes 'Trussonomics'
UK leader in peril after Treasury chief axes ‘Trussonomics’
LONDON — The U.K.’s new Treasury chief ripped up the government’s economic plan on Monday, dramatically reversing most of the tax cuts and spending plans that new Prime Minister Liz Truss announced less than a month ago. The move raises more questions about how long the beleaguered British leader can stay in office, though Truss insisted she has no plans to quit. Chancellor of the Exchequer…

Never 'kick down' - welfare recipients are not the problem. The issue lies with big money that fuels bribery and financial corruption, ultimately leading to bad policy decisions. Conservative governments tend to prioritise the wealthy and powerful, favoring those who can contribute or donate to their political machine. It is time to work towards fair and just policies that benefit all Australians, irrespective of their socio-economic status. Let's strive for a more equitable and inclusive future. #fairpolicies #governmentcorruption #equalityforall

There’s a post with over 25,000 notes that is an extremely excited reaction to a bill that’s being introduced, the SSI Savings Penalty Elimination Act, that would increase the asset limit for recipients of SSI from the $2,000 that it has been for the last 39 years to $10,000 with automatic increases keyed to inflation.
This is of course a good thing. Disabled people shouldn’t have to sell every asset other than their home and car before they can get assistance, and should be permitted to save money for future needs or emergencies without penalty.
Here’s my problem: in the press release for this bill itself, it acknowledges that the average SSI recipient gets only $585 per month and the majority have no additional income. And there’s no reason why anyone on SSI would have additional income, besides being disabled, every dollar of income over $65 that a recipient earns is met with a 50¢ decrease from their next month’s SSI payment, so if someone earns $400 a month, they lose $167.50 of SSI benefit.
So riddle me this: how in the hell is anybody supposed to procure assets or savings of $10, let alone $10,000, when they are receiving an income so low it is only 48% of the federal poverty threshold? (That’s based on the average monthly payment, the maximum benefit is still below the poverty level.)
I will be excited when this group of senators, with all of their great concern for disabled people reliant on SSI, are ready to introduce a bill that raises the minimum benefit to at least 125% (and ideally 150%) of the federal poverty level, with automatic increases keyed to inflation, and larger benefits for people who have children who don’t qualify for non-time limited benefits of their own.
Raising the asset limit while maintaining punitively low benefits is like a host promising a lovely dessert after dinner is finished, then only serving a couple of one bite hors d’oeuvres and pretending like their guests are too stuffed for the sweets.
