November 2023: Estate Sale In Alamo

My queen was checking out estate sales on estatesales.net & saw one in Alamo, TN that had some cookware she like the looks of so we drove out that way on Saturday:

When we got there, the cookware turned out to be smaller than it looked in the photos so we didn't get it but we didn't leave empty handed.

On the way back, we stopped off at Hatchie National Wildlife Refuge to look at some of the lakes we had fished in years past.

My queen had her UV sunglasses on & could see fish in the water. She was so excited that she wanted drive to the nearest Walmart & get some fishing gear but I convinced her that we should wait & come back Sunday with our own gear:

さらっとチェンマイ

チェンマイです。 1月2日まで過ごすものの、予定は明日のカウントダウンコームロイだけ。 まあカンボジアで忙しくしていた分、チェンマイではゆっくりと。 今回泊まった宿はターペー門の近くでちょっと通りを入ったところにある静かそうな宿。 レビューを見ると、この宿には兄と妹の兄妹のオトモダチがいるようで、会うのが楽しみー。 宿の朝食の後、早速オトモダチ発見。 妹のDinちゃん   宿泊客に可愛いがられているのか、とても人懐っこいいい～♥   日中は町中をウロウロ。   夕方、バルコニーでユルユルしてたらオトモダチが遊びに来てくれました。 こちらは兄のKyawくんです。 部屋にもスルスル〜って遊びに来るくらいなので、これまでもお客さんと部屋で遊んでたのかな？ いずれにせよ、幸せだぁ〜♥♥♥ Dinちゃん　　　　　　　　　　　Kyawくん   夜はGoogle…

I was bored as I get decided to Google map search the address of the Designing Women house 1521 Sycamore in Atlanta, Georgia. Just to see well first if it was an address that even existed in Atlanta and second to see what was there. And surprise, surprise it's a vacant lot. Which I find extraordinary.

The reason is because I don't know if the shows/series do it purpose or it's just some kind of luck, but it seems to be that a lot of the addresses that end for houses in series. At least I found this to be true with the Gilded Age are vacant lots and I just find that kind of extraordinary considering. So to find that the address of the Sugagbaker design firm is also a vacant lot. I don't know, it just made me smile. Because I know the actual house that they used for the exteriors is actually located in little rock Arkansas. It's kinda nice knowing the address is real only thing on it is nature. Julia would approve ❤️

Google Maps is worse than useless - actively harmful

Hard to overstate how enshittified and botshitted Google Maps has become. Went looking for my local locksmith on Gmaps. Maps shows 20+ fake locksmith referral scam outlets and doesn't even register the real locksmith, despite it being fully visible in Street View.

Instead, a red pin on the shop identifies it as a fake locksmith scammer. The real locksmith - which has been there SINCE 1942 (!!) and is a verified merchant - doesn't even show up.

Google has been promising to clean up locksmith scams since the early 2010s, and has completely failed. A company that can't figure this out - but still has $80b for a stock buyback! - does not deserve the 90% market share in search it spends $26b/year to maintain.
