GOOD OMENS: WHEN CAN WE REASONABLY EXPECT SEASON 3 - an early morning Vyvanse rant

TIMELINE GO1 greenlight: January 19th, 2017 GO1 started filming: Later in 2017 GO1 air date: May 31st, 2019 GO2 renewed: June, 2021 GO2 started filming: Late 2021 (can’t find exactly when) GO2 air date: July 28th, 2023 GO3 renewed: December 14th, 2023 GO3 starts filming: Soon! (What is 'soon'?)

Some people have suggested the pandemic prolonged the time from renewal of season 2, to filming and production and all that, I have no idea whether or not this is correct. Can someone weigh in here?

What we do know is that roughly one and a half year passed from renewal to air date. Season 2 clearly had a bigger budget, I don’t know if that means more work for more people or just better paid even more competent people, compared to season 1 - or if it means something else entirely. Not too familiar with that industry. The time between greenlighting, filming and air dates is much shorter in season 2, compared to season 1. I don’t think season 3 will be very much faster than season 2, but…

Amazon has noticed us. They want to make money, and this fandom has provided insane amounts of free publicity. Maybe they’ve even saved money on marketing because of us (I have no idea) - I bet they could speed some things up by throwing more money at season 3, but often, things can’t (or shouldn’t) be rushed. What can be rushed, what shouldn’t be rushed? Let’s hope Amazon knows the difference, let’s hope Neil stands his ground in any type of conflict, should it arise.

That said, I believe we can expect season 3 early summer of 2025, possibly sooner - but probably not in 2024.

What are your thoughts?

Oh, and here is the song I’ve been listening to since the news of season 3 came yesterday - it’s about them! (At least in my mind, with my headcanon)

I really don't understand people who are actually angry at the ending of Good Omens season 2?? Like, have you never read a novel or seen a play? It's a classic 3 act story structure! This is the end of the 2nd act. The dark night of the soul, the key emotional beat when our hero is temporarily defeated and believes all hope is lost. You're SUPPOSED to feel devastated along with the protagonist, but not actually angry as if you've been lied to and tricked by the author.

So I knew the kiss was going to happen.

I hadn't actually seen the leak myself but with the way I saw/heard people freaking out about it I thought that it had to have been a kiss.

But I was unfortunately spoiled for Aziraphale rejecting Crowley after the kiss because I accidentally read a Tumblr post that mentioned this. But I still hadn't seen the actual moment or what was said.

However one day I was scrolling through Tiktok and I came a across a clip where Aziraphale with tears in his eyes says "I forgive you". My mind immediately associated this moment with the kiss and in shock I thought to myself "please don't tell me that he said 'I forgive you' after they kissed". I then proceeded to cry for the next five minutes.

And then I cried a bit more because I didn't get to see and experience this sad as hell moment in real time 😭.

Season 3: The Second Coming

- Metatron pulls the okie-doke on Aziraphale. Chaos ensues in Heaven.

- Crowley is comiserating either in Hell or Antarctica.

- Muriel finds out about the chaos in Heaven and sets off in a quest to find Crowley.

- Aziraphale is trying to fix whatever bullshit Metatron pulled, but the other douche bag angels aren't helping. More chaos.

- Muriel and Crowley discover only an archangel can actually fix what's going on in Heaven. And with Gabriel fucked off to Alpha Centuri with Beezelbub, and without powers anyway, that's a non-starter.

- Side quests ensue. Somehow, through some magical artifact or spell, Crowley gets ALL OF HIS MEMORIES BACK!

- Holy shit! He's an archangel and he can fix heaven.

- Jesus shows up. People lose their fucking minds.

- Aziraphale gets locked in Heaven jail. Metatron fucks shit up REAL bad.

- Crowley and Muriel show up in heaven. Defeat the big bad. Send Jesus back to wherever. Spring Aziraphale from jail.

- Aziraphale does the apology dance for an entire episode.

- Crowley gives his power to Muriel and let's her run heaven. With his and Aziraphale's help, when needed.

- They go to brunch and make up. The world is saved. They live in the bookstore and the Bentley is parked out front with yellow rims and a yellow racing stripe. Happily ever after and all....
