just saw someone be like “how is adult shauna less mature than teen shauna?” and i’m like.... i don’t know, maybe it was??? THE TRAUMA!?!?!

like yeah shauna fucked up before they left for nationals, but so did jackie. they were going to have a very ugly fight about their actions towards each other and their different needs and then they’d spend some time apart at college and come back over a holiday break and apologize and cry into each others’ arms. she was still going to live in a world with jackie and their friends all in it, where she didn’t have to eat people and kill people and birth a baby and have him die and learn how to surgically prepare a human body as meat.

she was a teenager who didn’t communicate and then lashed out, but what she went through in the wilderness made her worse. who would have thought?

lottie continuously promising that the baby will be fine. there’s a weighing guilt over the loss of the baby thinking it was her fault. so it’s no surprise that she’s going to let shauna take out her frustrations on her. thinking about lottie not even fighting back because she probably thinks she deserves it. it’s a form of self harm where she’s not directly inflicting her own pain, but she’s not doing anything to stop it either. lottie letting shauna use her as a punching bag not only because of her own inner guilt and possible shame, but for shauna to have an outlet to her pain. and lottie will probably tell her it’s ok. and lottie will probably not hold any resentment towards shauna for that. because in her mind she’s helping shauna by punishing herself.

Honestly, most of her teammates are immune to that voice. And her glares. And her everything, and Natalie wishes she’d had the foresight to be violently ill this weekend.

I’M SO, SO EXCITED, ANON.

All of work, whether here or elsewhere, has been so, so fucking good, but something that just has stuck in my mind about her re: YJ is her calling the show a war story in one interview. These women were in the trenches, and now they’ve come home, broken, fucked up, and expected to reintegrate into the machine of society.

The way she absolutely gets that is so present in the pilot, which is genuinely one of the best premieres I’ve ever seen in my life, and I’m incredibly eager to see what she does next ep.

Van is classic bard, leaning toward stories over songs. Misty is a cleric, but like. Refuses to use her spells unless she feels appreciated. And secretly takes a level or two in rogue that baffles everyone else.

Lottie’s a paladin, but I feel like for a god she has a lot of beef with/confusing feelings about. Nat’s a ranger who gets talked into multiclassing into druid without totally trusting she can pull it off. Taissa’s a wizard (what’s sexier than wizards? Nothin’.) and she goes ALL IN memorizing spells and using them in fascinating cutthroat ways.

Annnd Shauna’s a barbarian.
