The irony of Yun Wei Shan betraying Gong Zi Yu by giving her handler the necessary info to get the antidote bc she got to do what she can to survive and then immediately stepping in front of him to block the possible sniper shot if Zi Yi signaled it, protecting him with her life, the life she's just got the antidote for.

Zi Yu might have fell first and hard for Wei Shan, but she's definitely also falling for him too.

That's where the mysterious weapon box came from! At least that was explained. Bc I was so confused on why she and YWS were cool with each other, and then Lady Wu Ji was like here's a gift from your father-in-law only for it to harm YWS.

YES! I'm so happy that the Gong cousins have been working together and were not actually fighting the last few episodes.

What I like about how the story is told so far is that not everything we saw was a masterplan or fake.

Only from this moment was the conflicts between the cousins generated by them to get the best of Wufeng. It gives more impact to the story and it doesn't make us feel like the our time was wasted bc nothing was real. The show put on by them only started from the end of ep 18. This way, it also still keeps Gong Zi Yu human and not this puppeteer mastermind the whole time. He still started slow and grew and matured into his role when he was forced to actually start putting his potential to use.

Even between Yun Wei Shan and Gong Zi Yu, all the internal struggles and conflicts that they had were very much real. GZY only came up with the plan and the two of them put on their show after ep 17 and the story between Elder Yue and Yun Que was revealed. Every emotions and moments between them before were genuine and not put on for an audience, and as the audience, I don't feel cheated and duped.

I KIND OF GOT SPOILED THAT IT WASN'T A HAPPY ENDING BUT I WAS HOPING THAT EVEN IF IT WAS A SAD/TRAGIC ENDING, IT WOULDN'T BE THAT SENSELESSLY INFURIATING!

Do you mean to tell me that they didn't have a happy ending together not because they were on opposite sides of a conflict and it didn't work out, her poison couldn't be cured, they died fighting Wufeng in a big battle, she wanted to be free and he let her go, but because she wanted to visit the hometown she had no memory of WITHOUT ANY BODYGUARD AS THE FUCKING SWORD WIELDER'S WIFE and promised to return but was ambushed! AND HE HAS NO FUCKING CLUE AND JUST WAITED FOR HER ON THE STEPS LIKE HE PROMISED! Someone tell me that GZY at least sent someone to check on her. THAT THIS DRAMA DIDN'T JUST END WITH HIM THINKING SHE ABANDONED HIM WHILE SHE IS FIGHTING AGAINST WUFENG BIG BOSS BY HERSELF!

They're essentially the same, wanting to see more of the world than just the Gong residence, being kind hearted and just wanting to help others (there's enough ppl making poison at Gong residence that they don't need me and I can spend my time making antidotes to help ppl for Elder Yue and Zi Yu telling his older brother that all the killing and fighting doesn't make him feel good), being just generally nice to the Wufeng assassin they encountered and falling in love with them and wanting to provide a peaceful life for them. Elder Yue rooting for GZY and YWS to make it to their happy ending bc he and Yun Que couldn't 😭😭

also, whoever is running Wufeng is also definitely gong related/adjacent since Elder Yue also said that Wufeng fortnight flies poison was altered from the Gong's heart devouring moon.

As soon as Gong Zi Yu asked for two pills of poison from Elder Yue to "study," I knew he was going to take one himself! And he did because he didn't want to test all the possible failed antidotes on Yun Wei Shan! 😭😭

I love that foolishly good (in the words of Jin Fan) man!

Also the way Yun Wei Shan answered Gong Zi Yu's question of will she lie to him with she's undeniably loyal to him. So essentially saying she will lie to him if it's in his best interest.

Additionally with the task of the 2nd trial, there's actually more hope now of our OTP getting their happy ending, even as Wufeng is making their plans to attack the Gong residence with a more detailed map and the designs and antidotes to Gong Yuan Zhi's secret weapon. Because if Gong Zi Yu succeeds in the second task, then Yun Wei Shan will also have the antidote to her poison and not by tied down Wufeng anymore!

I lied. I abandoned everything else and made time for ep 17 to cry.

Ep 17: Yun Que, her life, her past, her hope and dream for the future. The mourning and grief left behind by her death to her sister, lover, and father figure. 😭 Elder Yue really went the grief turned my hair white overnight route. 😭

At least now though, Yun Wei Shan doesn't have to hide her secret from Gong Zi Yu anymore bc he found out she's Wufeng.

Just the whole of episode 16!!

Gong Zi Yu and Yun Wei Shan willing to die for each other. Them learning the Heart Devouring Moon is not a poison that needs to be cure so Yun Wei Shan is FREE of Wufeng now if she wants!

Elder Yue being a heartbroken Matchmaker and in mourning for Yun Que 😭😭 YWS saw her sister's bracelet now so I wonder if that will change her pro or anti Gong stance once Wufeng comes knocking, bc from this trial, she's not even leaning anymore but firmly on the pro GZY side so wonder if this will sway her in any way.

Also GZY finding Elder Yue's secret room and the bracelet and definitely remembering that YWS's reaction was to it and not to leaving his side to return back to the Yu residence. (That whole interaction btw GZY and Elder Yue before GZY found the secret room was hilarious tho. "Your last name is Gong and your first name is Zi Yu, is your nickname Delicate 😆, and GZY lying to try to steal some truth grass - which seems like it isn't even real since GZY said it just smells like normal tonic.)

Again, won't have time for ep 17 so staying out of the tag once more. I'm going to through so many pages of it to catch up when I finally am caught up episode wise!

I think Yun Wei Shan doesn't actually know how she responded under the truth grass since she thought everything was fine and said she would have responded the same to Gong Zi Yu's question without it, while GZY is like a kicked puppy in hearing her respond no to his question of if she likes him.

Also interesting how the ways Yun Wei Shan and Shangguan Qian "cleared" themselves of being Wufeng spies caused their relationships to go in reverse directions a little. For YWS and GZY, before all that, it was almost smooth sailing despite the YWS's lying and spying, but now we're kind of cooled a bit. While Shangguan Qian and Gong Shang Jue have gone in the opposite direction with GSJ definitely softening for SQ and letting her in.
