"One Year of Collecting"
Today is Jackson’s anniversary! One year ago today, Jackson was delivered home to me, and with that he started me on this whole doll collecting journey. To commemorate, I wanted to get a picture of the entire collection together. It’s been quite a ride from then until now. I’ve taken him and his friends to many places. And Jackson especially, we’ve been through quite a lot together.
So here’s to Jackson and all his friends! And thank you to everyone who has followed us for a whole swell year! 🎊

I’ve got no clue if anyone has pointed this out, but the necklace that Lagoona wears in this picture in her SS1 locker matches the appearance of the Sea Monster talisman from the show !
And with Gil’s arm looking to be in the photograph with Lagoona, I have to wonder- will he be the one to give Lagoona the talisman? I’m not sure how he or his family would come into possession of it, but I think it would make for an interesting and fun storyline which would make sense within the show’s lore, as well as being an easy way to get the talisman into the school without it having been there already.

Fun fact brought to you by a marine biologist/marine affairs major!
Part 2: G1 Gil Webber
I’ve seen a lot of people complain about G1 Gil Webber and his lack of ears, so I just want to throw something out there!
According to Monster High, they state that “Fresh water monsters with some exceptions, but most have to wear helmets with water in them so they can breathe on land. As some fresh water monsters only have gills while other water monsters have gills and lungs.” This is pretty much saying that some water monsters are more advanced” or “evolved” than others.
Fish don’t have ears like we do, but they have three types of otoliths, which help aid fish in balance and hearing. They also allow fish to sense vibrations in the water and better navigation of their surroundings in the water! Depending on the amount of rings and how big they are, you can even tell the fish’s age with them! These are a bunch of different fish species types of otoliths (see below):
As mentioned, otoliths are split into three different types: Sagitta, Asteriscus, and Lapillus. Sagitta is the largest of the three pairs and is involved in the detection of sound, the process of hearing, or converting sound waves into electrical signals. Asteriscus also helps with the detection and process of both sound and hearing, while Lapillus is involved with the detection of gravitational force and sound.
You’re probably wondering what I’m getting to with this. Well, here’s a diagram of where otoliths are located in fish (see below):
As you can see, they are located right behind the brain and eyes which would mean that G1 Gil most likely has them due to not being “evolved” enough to not need a helmet to breathe. These otoliths help him hear sound through the water and not leave him hearing muffled voices with regular ears due to water inflow!
Hopefully this is all explained enough, but I could definitely go deeper as I work with a variety of fish and have extracted otoliths to look at age myself!
