I have... an idea. A theory?

Is it possible that Diluc may not have kicked Kaeya out at all? Or at least, not completely? If Kaeya weren't doing this as a form of self-punishment, then Kaeya may have gaslit himself on the idea that he was kicked out.

Several EN Kaeya dialogue had me confused for a while now (as well as odd dialogue or text boxes by EN Diluc, Elzer, and Adelinde)

For one, Diluc seemed genuinely confused by the "throw me out like trash" comment from Kaeya, and Diluc had no retort to Kaeya saying Dawn Winery is his home too ( in fact, Diluc had no qualms on letting Kaeya stay there for weeks back when Diluc was out on a fatui hunting spree).

It's weird for someone who supposedly kicked the other out act like that - all confused and silent. Usually, there would at least be a vocal protest.

Then we have Elzer and Adelinde.

Have you all noticed that Adelinde only addresses Kaeya as "Sir Kaeya" when they are discussing together? Adelinde straight up calls him "Master Kaeya" in front of Diluc. Elzer, in a letter to Diluc, also showed him repeatedly addressing Kaeya as "Master Kaeya". Does this mean that only Kaeya requested on his own volition to no longer be addressed as master by the staff? Diluc is clearly fine with it. With how great of a maid Adelinde is, it must be such a rare occasion to call Kaeya as a "sir" for her to often accidentally call him as master instead (at least once every time we hear her, she makes this error)

Could it be possible that Kaeya decided to put that distance himself? Clearly Kaeya had no qualms on lying about his eye to Diluc for a while (making Diluc think he was blinded). Who's to say that he didn't make the staff think that he was no longer allowed to stay at Dawn Winery (which would make leaving the place easier for him).

And the more tragic one, being that he may have gaslit himself to the idea of being kicked out, also sounds possible... especially if we think that he may currently be tricking himself that he has no real mission or true purpose to the Khaenri'ahn plot (or that he tricked himself for the longest time that he has a mission).

The others are probably just letting Kaeya continue to do so because calling him out on it might make him lash out or start getting defensive.

This actually paints a very different picture...

just a few trans kaeya & diluc headcanons i wanted to share :)

(disclaimer: i do not personally headcanon diluc as trans, but i still wanted to make this post)

when diluc came out, it was less of a surprise than kaeya's coming out, as diluc was always more of a tomboy.

in terms of transitioning, kaeya has had top surgery but not bottom, but diluc still binds/has had no surgeries. diluc has, however, been on t (or the teyvat equivalent) for longer.

kaeya constantly teases diluc about it. he'll say stuff along the lines of 'do you remember when -insert embarrassing moment when diluc was figuring out his identity-?' and diluc is done with his bullshit (as usual)

crepus & adelinde did their best with aiding both boys' transitions as diluc was frustrated more often because he was unhappy and kaeya wouldn't speak up if he was dysphoric/upset.

i've thought about Adelinde being some sort of mother figure for the Ragbros™︎ and here some more thoughts about it-

Adelinde tries her best to get them to have a normal conversation together. they never talk without that sour attitude unless she does something about it

Adelinde has both of their favorite foods memorised. growing up in a ✨rich household✨ they could both have whatever they wanted and Adelinde was happy too make whatever their hearts desired

Adelinde used to scold the brothers if they disobeyed their father, often intimidating them. even still, Adelinde slightly scares both of the brothers and she's fully aware of it :)

Adelinde was aware of all the letters Diluc got from Kaeya. Diluc was first going to get rid of them due to sadness, but Adelinde comforted and convinced him to keep them

When Kaeya got adopted into the household, he was very shy and hesitant and had the habit of hiding behind Adelinde. he doesn't do it anymore, but he walks or stands behind her

Adelinde deeply cares for both of them and openly shows it to them, resulting in them becoming all shy and quiet

Sunlight shines through the windows as dawn breaks.

The curtains are held back with light-colored ribbons to let in the light, a necessary crime courtesy of Adelinde to get on with his busy day. Diluc gets out of bed, washes his face, and barely has his eyes open as he does his whole morning routine. At the least, he did not have to see anyone important for a meeting until later in the noon, so all he had to do now was enjoy a peaceful breakfast and Adelinde would help brush out the mess of tangled hair he tamed just a tiny bit in the bathroom. It's the soft scent of buttered bread that leads him down the stairs, stretching his arms above his head in a futile attempt to scatter the sleep that dropped his eyes.

It was only when he reached the last step that he noticed someone else standing there, staring at him. No wonder he didn't see him upstairs.

"Good morning," he greets, voice rough from lack of use, yawning into his hand and still barely keeping his eyes open as his head feels heavier than a brick wall, holding onto the railing to keep himself from swaying. He might have taken his patrol last night a bit too far into the night, which had been how he brought this man back to the manor in the first place-- you win some and you lose some, he supposes. Even as he blinked his eyes a few times to see if that helped with the sleepiness, he could tell that his eyes were glazed by the way his vision blurred, wondering if he should catch a few minutes to nap instead of going out to the vineyard this morning.

It's when he remembers again that there was someone there with him that he lifts his head again, about to ask him if he had already finished breakfast. But Diluc falls silent as a hand reaches out, readily letting his eyelids fall to a close and chin tilting up just the tiniest bit. To his surprise, he feels gentle fingers move those unruly pieces of his bangs away from his eyes, bright red eyes blinking open to look up with questions in them, wondering what he was doing. But oh, he didn't expect that. Diluc feels his heart leap up to his throat, an unfamiliar voice nearly escaping at how hard it crashed into his ribcage, heat creeping up his neck and further. His starry eye was staring at him-- probably had been staring for a while now if he was standing so close next to him, watching everything the redhead had done on his way downstairs.

"... ... ..."

Dressed down and in the comfort of his own home with no shackles or pretenses up yet, still drowsy with sleep and completely left unguarded, Diluc finds himself thrown completely off-balance. In some attempt to build himself back up, he tries to say something snarky back, but his lips open only to close two seconds later when he can't come up with anything, just feeling oddly embarrassed and blissful at the same time, hiding the lower half of his face with a hand. How unabashed Kaeya is for saying that this early in the morning, even before a drop of wine can touch his tongue. But even though he feels the compliment was a tad too exaggerated, it was... nice. Even more so when he sees how genuine the commentary was. The young master realizes that the silence has gone on for too long, his face is too warm to not show the blood that rushed to his head, and pale skin that had never helped hide the color on his cheeks most likely seen by the other seconds ago.

"Kaeya..." He tries again after clearing his throat, pretending he didn't just make things more awkward for himself than necessary. If this were at the bar and he was aware, he would have been able to give a better comeback, but maybe this was fine once in a while. "Thank you." He doesn't even have the capacity to give a better reply, moreover, he remembers once when the other had to emphasize that he didn't give words of affection to get them back. So instead, he takes the hand near his face and gives it a soft squeeze to relay his gratitude before he lets go and goes straight to the breakfast table.

At least, that had been the most effective wake-up call he's ever had.

Yelan id imagine could have a Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde situation. Since its not a split personality, more of shapeshifting in a bottle. Id turn her into a legit shapeshifter but i think its cooler if shes just That Smart to create potions that can let her turn into anyone. It ties into her lore as well, since shes always in different personas and disguises and things. Also i dont want to turn her into a whopperflower, the three of them would be RELENTLESS with the plant jokes. Ayato would DEFINITELY be some kind of yokai. Im thinking some sort of fox yokai since a lot of them have a lot of connections to festivals and the like. Or maybe something much older, much more ancient than the two of them combined. Explains his encyclopedic knowledge of Inazuma since he was LITERALLY THERE when it happened. Also oooooo potential connections with Yae???

Vampire Diluc is honestly just correct. Though I personal prefer a dhampir Diluc. I maybe it's because he gives me Alucard vibes. So ya know he's half vampire in my book. But In this context i can just imagine his years away just opened up his hungry more and he's very very ashamed of it. But Adelinde would 100% become a ghoul for him and take care all of his needs for him.

So I have a lot of thoughts regarding Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Primarily because in the book, Hyde still was Jekyll. Just the part of himself Jekyll could never afford to express. And then he really just became addicted. I once heard Mr. Hyde described as Jekyll's reward. And I think that's a good way of putting it. BUT at the same time. With my love of the persona games and yu gi oh. You can see how I still like the other side of the coin with Hyde splitting off into his own person. AH, but enough of my English major stuff. From what I know of Chinese mythology, I believe there is a fox spirit that shapeshifts, and I feel that's pretty fitting for her. Foxes being known for being so cunning.

As for Ayato, I know there are quite a few spirits associated with water and rain in Japan, and I can see him being some kind of sea monster of Merman.

i can't decide if i like the idea of Diluc's hair to be silky and perfect because he takes amazing care of it. if you ask him about it he'll hesitantly talk about his self care routine and his recommended hair products. Adelinde taught him about this and is secretly proud

or if he has the most horrendous bed hair in the morning, Kaeya got scared of him and mistook him for a "monster" when they where younger. he keeps his hair in a ponytail and it remains like that for most of the time. Adelinde and the maids are crying

or if his hair is perfect without effort. he wakes up and looks like sleeping beauty and Kaeya has never hated him more then when he found out Diluc isn't even trying with his hair. you compliment his hair and he gets flustered, you ask him about conditioner and he asks "w h a t"

Kaeya was bored at some point as a kid. so he walked into Adelinde's room, found some makeup and started to play with it. when Adelinde found him a while after, she chuckled softly before picking him up to teach him a little about makeup - this explains his currently flawless skin

Adelinde used to read Kaeya books when he was younger resulting in them having a similar taste in books now - Adelinde got him a book he was missing from an old collection for his birthday, and it sparked a convo between them recalling the story and fairytales in the books

Adelinde is one of the few people who can tell Kaeya is lying. ever since he was younger he had the habit of changing his stance to a more confident one when he's not being truthful - he gets shy and awkward when he realises she can still tell between his lies and truth

Calla lilies are Adelindes favorite flowers because Kaeya got them for her for her birthday once - he felt bad for not having anything better but he stopped apologising when Adelinde gave one of her reassuring embraces

speaking of reassuring embraces™︎, Kaeya is convinced Addies (his nickname for her) hugs can comfort anybody and anyone, whenever whoever

Kaeya used to have a noticeable stutter but Adelinde and him have worked on it together. however, kaeya is very comfortable talking with her so his stutter comes back a little bit - he gets a but embarrassed when she points it out she uses this as blackmail /j

Adelinde Convinces Kaeya to let himself stay at the manor for the night. of course Kaeya was a bit hesitant at first, but all of those thoughts disappeared when he actually walked into the manor and saw the dinner table ready with his favorite dishes lined up, his favorite flowers decorated with and his brother sitting awkwardly on the side.

ok so Diluc brainrot ≧^◡^≦

i like to think that Diluc would used to be very expressive when he was younger. his hand gestures and the way he speaks was very animatic and cute,

(maybe it was something Crepus valued, maybe something he got from his mother) up until his fathers death, he toned it down

he is constantly on guard and rarely lets his emotions pass through him, and if he does, it's usually bitter anger. until he finally does let his guard down. it would be around Adelinde while she cooks dinner, if he goes through the old bookshelves or the vine garden, Diluc gets hit with nostalgia :))

when Adelinde cooks food while Diluc is there and starts a conversation with him, his habit of hand gestures comes back. he doesn't talk much more, but when he does his voice is less strained and he speaks more freely and with more emotions .^◡^.

both Adeline and Elzer notice this (if not all the maids) and work hard to let Diluc feel comfortable enough to let his guard down more
