Which kpop group do I think suit every mugiwara the best? And would they be a boy group or a girl group stan?

This is because yesterday I had a specific revelation and I started thinking about it in general, so here are my ideas:

Luffy as Seventeen

Luffy has been one of the ones I've had to think about the most but then it occurred to me that he would really like Seventeen. They have a very fresh and fun concept in general that really suits Luffy and they are one of the very few groups that, despite being together for almost ten years, have never lost members. And that's even stranger considering there are so many of them. They love each other as much as the mugiwara love each other and Luffy would adore them (get it?) for that.

Bg or gg stan? Both.

Zoro as The Boyz

For Zoro I have come up with several groups that could fit very well with him like Ateez or Stray Kids, but I have ended up opting for The Boyz because there is a very specific homoerotic component in their music that very few groups are able to replicate. The bisexual energy they give off reminds me too much of Zoro not to choose them.

Bg or gg stan? Both, but their concept has to be dark.

Nami as (G)I-DLE

This is the revelation I had after listening to Gidle's new song, Nami would fucking love them. Just pure female representation and empowerment. Gidle's last three comebacks (Tomboy/Nxde/Queencard) are three different representations of how a woman can express her femininity and all are valid (Nami in particular is so Queencard coded and Robin would be more Nxde coded, I think).

Bg or gg stan? I think she would like some bgs but she would be mostly a gg stan.

Usopp as EXO

NOW HEAR ME OUT because I know this one sounds weird, but I think Usopp would love Exo's storytelling. The clone lore? He would eat that shit up. Besides, I don't know why but I think Usopp wouldn't listen to just anything and Exo is one of the most talented groups there is, so...

I think Usopp would like groups that focus on storytelling or have very defined concepts, Vixx would be another option that I think fits him very well.

Bg or gg stan? Both.

Sanji as Girl's Generation

This one was also very clear to me. Sanji would listen to ggs exclusively and I feel that only the most iconic gg would be the right choice for him. He would be so Yoona biased. And he is one of those who would know her choreographies to perfection.

Bg or gg stan? As I said, gg stan exclusively.

Chopper as GFRIEND

My main pick for Chopper is Gfriend because the powerful innocence concept they are known for reminds me a lot of him. I think StayC or fromis_9 concepts also fit him very well.

Bg or gg stan? Both.

Robin as Red Velvet

I don't know how to explain this but if you know about Red Velvet concepts you know I'm right. There's something so unique and peculiar about their music that matches every part of Robin's taste and personality. Red Velvet are the epitome of one of my favorite kpop concepts, which I call cute but murderous. Just watch their Russian Roulette mv and you will understand.

Robin would write a fucking essay on why everyone is wrong and Zimzalabim is actually the best kpop song ever.

Bg or gg stan? Both, as long as their music is the strangest succession of sounds you've ever heard in your life.

Franky as Monsta X

Just himbos, I don't have anything else to say.

Bg or gg stan? I think he would tend to listen to bgs a little bit more, but both regardless.

Brook as Dreamcatcher

Oh, I just know Brook would love Dreamcatcher. Women? Check. Rock style? Check. Horror concept? Check. They are perfect for him, it makes so much sense.

Bg or gg stan? Not as exclusively as Sanji because music is music, but gg stan.

Jinbe as MAMAMOO

Jinbe would love every Mamamoo member's unhinged personality as much as he loves Luffy's. He would have so much fun with them and their concepts and their music, it's a strong feeling I have.

Bg or gg stan? Both.

I've gotten the impression that, with hybe's recently debuted groups (boynextdoor and tws), they're trying to recenter themselves to a certain extent on Korea while balancing western appeal. I haven't been around for long enough to view the differences over time, but this has mainly been coming from the way they've been promoting, and I'm interested to see what they do with illit (whose debut trackless seems very short imo, but that's an aside). Idk if this is also why they released lsf's recent comeback on a Monday, though smart in particular is very Coachella. Tws' plot twist seems to have blown up in Korea but not very marketable in the west like nj's songs were. This all makes sense given bang pd's concerns about kpop and the need to establish a korean fan base, rather than shooting for the west right away which seems have been a contrary strategy. Do you see it the same way and are you expecting this strategy for illit? Ggs and bgs have been having different experiences with the korean gp lately so I'm not sure what they'll do. Luckily hybe's other ggs have pretty distinct vibes so it'll probably be easier to carve out their own lane within the company

One thing: Bang PD has no influence whatsoever on what happens at ADOR aka NewJeans.

Also, I understand it’s tempting to think about HYBE this way given how the other Big4 companies operate and this is something that will be more clear as time goes on anyway, but the reality is that HYBE does not function like one company. It’s a collection of mid-sized companies that have their own mandates, but which share the same underlying infrastructure and resources. The only thing I really see them planning together is coordinating comebacks and debuts so there’s no egregious overlaps.

Meaning, if you’re looking for similarities, you’re probably better off comparing against the company’s own track record, i.e. TWS under Pledis is simply following the approach that worked for Seventeen and Nu’est at debut which was a focus on Korea first then international; ILLIT will likely follow Be:lift’s strategy for Enhypen, which was a Korea + SEA focus at debut, then Western appeal. BOYNEXTDOOR is Zico and KOZ’s first group, but given Zico’s influence is largest in Korea, it makes sense he’ll target building a Korean fanbase first. Source Music, just as with GFriend, focused Le Sserafim on Korea and Japan markets at debut before pushing internationally.

BigHit was supposed to have debuted Trainee A by this year and like BTS, they were gearing for more international appeal, but the project was scrapped and most of the members have moved on to be soloists or joined other agencies (JJ is now in SM).

What I’m trying to say is, I hear what you’re saying about Bang PD’s comments, but the patterns you’re looking for are better seen looking at what the companies have done before. Ideally, HYBE wants to strengthen their hold in every market, Korean and international. And you can see this in the companies they’ve already acquired that have decent penetration in one or the other, or both. Eventually, every k-pop company looks outside Korea for growth and that’s the end goal for all these groups, but the strategy of what is focused on first is best deduced by the track record of those companies so far. At least, in my opinion.

what kpop girl groups the tlt cast would stan

just saw a post talking about the tlt cast doing kpop dance challenges and couldn't shut up so now i'm making my own post. i know significantly more about girl groups than i do boy groups, so i'm assigning everyone a girl group and/or female soloist enjoy.

judith: she was a wonder girls stan growing up and acts like it was just a casual phase but she still religiously awaits every comeback from sunmi

marta: mamamoo. she's not actually involved with the fandom in any way she just knows good vocals when she hears em

coronabeth: she has pretty broad tastes for the most part and tends to be a bit inconsistent with her ults-- these days it's ive and she is THE wonyoung defender, but she had a hell of a red velvet phase before that, and there was also a good while when she was big into momoland.

ianthe: aoa. miniskirt was the only song of theirs that she knew before the scandal she hopped onto that ship right as it was sinking. i do also think corona showed her the monster mv when it came out and she was obligated by sisterly law to make fun of it but then promptly binged every single thing red velvet has ever created.

babs: a boygroup stan but he makes an exception for ioi (somi specifically).

isaac: he likes nmixx and aespa, but i think he's more intense about craxy and a couple other nugu groups. he enjoys the newer songs that sound like three completely different songs got smashed together my boy wants NOISE.

jeannemary: DREAMCATCHER. girlie is the biggest somnie on earth and has a massive crush on dami and sua in particular. she's a big girlcrush enjoyer in general though she also stans everglow, pixy, and purplekiss.

abigail: girl's generation, obviously.

magnus: i mean he of course likes anything his wife likes especially because she appreciates the classics, but i think he also really loves like. gugudan and fromis. honestly? 9muses too idk why every group with the number 9 in it has his vibes but they all do.

palamedes: stans every girlgroup that has ever existed with all his heart and soul, but especially stayc, billlie, and loona. he's one of those orbits who actually knows all the lore too.

camilla: was a casual blackjack back in the day but the only gg she's really into is g-idle. she appreciates it when a group has some artistic freedom, and also can tell when an idol actually knows how to rap vs just not knowing how to sing.

dulcinea: nature, gfriend, and chungha. she likes cutesy groups that do total 180s in concept i think nature dropping girls was one of the best days of her damn life.

protesilaus: fifty fifty but he stanned before cupid released. also cignature he really likes nugu groups.

silas: gangnam style is the only kpop song he has ever heard and he is deeply distraught upon learning that there's more.

colum: he enjoys one (1) song by a kpop girl group and it is la vie en rose by iz*one

harrowhark: by and large does not listen to kpop but she saw the mv to paradise lost by gain as a young teenager and it Did Something To Her. i think there's a timeline out there where she's a cheshire but in that timeline her parents love her

gideon: so ik i gave mamamoo to marta but gideon appreciates a hot woman with hella ability to command a stage and mamamoo is four of those. she likes hyuna for the exact same reason but i am especially talking about red/roll deep/how's this era hyuna. oh and exid.

mercymorn: she's a blink.

augustine: and he, naturally, is a once!

gide1: rania do NOT ask me why because i do not have an answer.

pyrrha: sistar. she biases hyolyn like hell and considers dally to be the song of the myriad.

cytherea: was pristin's number one fan and that's why she's like that now

john: newjeans. you KNOW that man is super shy

nona: thinks every song by a girlgroup is the best song ever. palamedes got her into loona but she doesn't know any of the lore he tries to explain it and she just goes TAKE ME HIGH! HIGH! HIGH! HIGH-- she also loves itzy and now is getting into kiss of life but mainly that's because of the dance break in shhh (which she tried to learn but she can't balance on one foot that long)

alecto: honestly i think she would learn that the kpop industry exists and immediately go on a murderous rampage against every ceo in the universe, but she plays karma by blackswan in the background when she does it.
