On one hand absolutely love that the JJK 0 movie yassified Geto and made him look so good but also we as a fandom have forgotten our roots. Seeing people complain (mostly on twt) that "Ohhh Kenjaku is making Geto so ugly and gross I hate them." Y'all before Geto was ever hot he was the OG ugly failwife of JJK. Just look at him.

just imagine the collision of two thoughts in his head; one that absolutely detests her and is disgusted by her being weak, the other that desperately loves her and wants to give it all up to go in her arms and be with her as a family, him and you and the twins. But it’s too little too late to throw away everything for a rash decision made by heart. And while he does love you, he can personally never see non sorcerers as a whole the same way after everything he went throughout. And despite that, every time he comes close to killing her something stops him physically from finishing the job once and for all. Just tragic all around 😭

I think about this concept sooo often with geto. in my head his relationship happened before his downfall, so when he finally made peace with the direction he wants to go - he can't help but wonder about where his lover stands.

because the thing is, geto's love with his partner is so deep and intimate, like he roots down parts of himself into the other person. despite knowing how hard it is to detach himself from you, he thinks it's easy to kill you off - he's done it to others that he claimed he loved, but something is different with you.

it especially kills him with how easy mimiko and nanako take to you, and how despite them hating "monkeys" as well, you are never considered as part of that group.

the cherry on top of it all as that he can see that you still love him. that your love for him never wavers. if anything, you understand what he went through and try to help him heal through the pain. so he keeps you around - treating you like a stray that he can't abandon. all the while struggling with how much you remind him of who he used to be, of how you represent everything so good in a world that is filthy and ugly.

there was nothing, nothing I wanted to see more than Gojo's mad state.

after everything (after what he considers his failure, Amanai's death, geto's injuries) his mind collapses, and in some sort of defense mechanism he stops feeling. he stops feeling bad about his "mistakes", Riko's death, Geto's injuries and his inability to protect them, he gives all of himself to the reverse cursed technique, and he ends up in that state. a state where he can only think ab how powerful he is, how he is objectively the strongest, the "honoured one". it was something fundamental for his character and for this arc- where he had difficulties using red&blue (akutami could have made up shorter names) before, against Toji he was able to use it in a second- and even hollow technique: purple, that is way more difficult and lethal than red&blue. and he doesn't stop feeling that way after Toji's death (that bitch). by killing Toji he technically should have avenged Riko and himself since it was probably the first time someone was able to beat him, but since in that moment he didn't really feel anything, he kinda did all of that on autopilot-it was the most logical thing to do, kill the man who had hurt Suguru and killed Riko and Satoru, the man who now was weaker than him. When he asks Suguru why he shouldn't kill the Star Religious group is because he doesn't see them as anything but useless, vile beings- and he doesn't see anything bad in killing them all. it was so important for his growth and for understanding his character, but Mappa kind of ruined it.

WHAT IS THAT? maybe I'm being dramatic (I am) but while I loved how Mappa animated Riko's death I hate how they portrayed Gojo's "madness". if I have to be honest, he was kinda ridiculous (especially in the second one- what's wrong with your mouth buddy?) when in the manga it's almost frightening how out of his mind he looked.

I would have laughed if I hadn't already been crying for half an hour over everything else
