Whenever they’re overseas on tour I get so happy cuz I know they’ll gain weight and will be able to sleep. But JK said he’s trying not to gain weight this time :( I think East Asian countries in general have very poor standards when it comes to mental heath & work. They work longer hours, more days and get less vacation time. They can’t leave until everything is done whether or not your hours are from 8-6. They are told to sweep everything under the rug or else they’re seen as weak & ungrateful

Actually talking about this shit just got me heated. Sorry in advance for flooding your inbox! These will come at random intervals since I’m at work. So I’ll put a fish at the end if you wanna answer them all at once. The culture shock I felt when getting into to Kpop was so real. Hearing people tell their peers how fat and ugly they are was mind boggling. And they never defend themselves! They just take it. There’s this one variety show Hello Counselor and the final MC is overweight (1)

And the other MCs(and sometimes guests) are always so mean about it. I remember once a guest was role playing an incident with her and one of the MCs said with the woman the illusion was broken cuz of how big she was 😡. It’s no wonder everyone over there has such low self esteem. All idols are so obedient and eager to please their company, fans, the public etc. Remember that one time Tae was celebrating their win on a music show and then the fans complained he was being disrespectful??? (2)

And then he was so somber and serious for a while. Like god damn even the fans are so vicious sometimes. Yoongi looks like he’s gotten tinier within the past year omg if I hugged if he would break. The only one I’m not too worried about is Hobi, his weight has been consistent thankfully. And since Jin said bighit pays for their food while on tour I hope they all go ham and get thicc 😩💦. Thicc bangtan is best they look so happy and healthy until the dumbass fans start complaining (3)

Joonie and Kookie and are Virgo ms so they both perfectionists. And with JK he had the Golden Child image to uphold so its extra pressure on him to always be perfect. Even though they are all naturally gifted no amount of raw talent could take them to the level they are at now. Literal blood, sweat and tears is what got them there. That demon training system made them submissive. I could write an entire essay about how inhuman the training system is but that’s for another day (4)

But it’s no wonder the suicide rates are so high. Yet the government won’t do anything about it. So many things could be improved if they passed some laws or encouraged people to seek counseling. Jungkook and Jimin are the ones who truly need to keep weight on them because they are Work Horse #1 and Work Horse #2. They all get worked to the bone, but oh, a song needs to be sung? Let’s give a large portion of it to Jikook. We need a dance break? Put Jikook front and center. And they both take it so seriously, they honestly give it 110% every single time they perform, so obviously they need the calories 🙄

Like…Jimin has passed out in practice before. Jungkook was actively passing out on that ep of Burn the Stage and did anyone do anything to rectify his behavior? No, they filmed it, monetized it, and then continued to push and push and push him.

Listen, I understand that this is a different cultural mindset from mine, ok, fine. But the fact that the suicide rates are so high over there?? Something has got to give. Somebody has got to say ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. The fact that everyone is held to impossible standards and then are essentially brainwashed into holding everyone else up to those same impossible standards is not healthy. That becomes the norm. And okay, if for some mind-boggling reason you want to continue to do that…you HAVE to make sure there are resources available for your society’s mental health, because that is a thing. People have a breaking point, and you making them feel like they are not enough and alone in a sea of people who also judge them is going to push them to their limits. The numbers don’t lie. At some point, it stops being a cultural issue and becomes a human rights issue.

And this next thing I’m about to say is very much my American point of view talking 🗣BUT I DON’T CARE🗣

THOSE ARE GROWN ASS MEN 😤 they are allowed to date, they are allowed to have sex and express romantic interest in women!! or men!! or whatever floats their boat. They are allowed to be happy and celebrate their accomplishments, BECAUSE BITCH!!!! THEY EARNED THEM.

Sheeeeeit, they can do whatever the fuck they want, good or bad, because they are grown, they are people just like you and me. And I see a little bit of this “I’m grown” mentality in Seokjin, but for the most part, their conservative culture has them shackled bc god forbid they be themselves and seem ungrateful to the fans because they’re not doing exactly what the fans want them to do.
