Non-art related post, I just want to ramble. Trigger warning: the usual ones, gender, trauma, death angst, yadda yadda.

Aging scares me. I'm 28, now it ain't that old, but I'm not a teenager anymore either. But is that bad? Life sucked when I was teen. I sucked. I managed to admit to my therapist I'm trans like a year ago and that felt like such a huge achievement. And being able to say that is huge for me, I grew up in a rural-Alabama level ultra-conservative area, healing from some 18 years of that cancer is good. Even if it takes a long time it's good, and my life is slowly but surely improving as a result.

It's just frustrating, a cis person can go like "yup I'm a girl" since they're a child and nobody questions that but it takes me till nearly 30 to even admit to that. But that's not true either, gender roles are cancer for the cis too, dysphoria is just one of the many ways to suffer. But as a cisn't, it's the one I have to deal with.

I don't know why being seen as a guy hurts so bad. What even is a woman? A miserable little pile of secrets? What does it matter, just put on the skirt and move on. But it ain't that simple. "Who am I" might be a meaningless question in the grand scheme of things, but for my life it's important. And my life makes up 100% of my time, so I guess for me it's pretty reasonable to worry about such questions.

It's a short life. If for me the path that brings the most fullfillment is embracing the binary, embracing being a grill, maybe that's fine? Like when I'm an 80-year old grandma and some young whippersnapper asks "what did you even do with your life", I guess being able to say "I lived as a woman and I'm gonna die as a woman, despite their best efforts", it's good enough for me

Hoo boy here we go (I think I will do this in three separate posts bc otherwise it will be miles long, but here’s part one)

First off, here’s the playlist again for reference:

1. Tombstone Blues by Richie Havens

This one is on his official playlist by Urbena and it really influenced some of my hcs for him. It feels like a good tone setter for the whole playlist as well as starting off chronologically with his childhood.

I headcanon he grew up poor with parents who were often absent and working, leading him to become very competent and self sufficient at a young age.

The verses to this song also have this sense of absurdist parody of capitalist wartime America which really fits well for his character as a whole

2. White Room by Cream

This one is also on his official playlist and I’m gonna be honest I mostly put it here for vibes. The lyrics don’t make too much sense except for the repeated train station setting. I especially like this verse for him:

Idk man. It just fits. There’s going to be a theme in these early life songs of restless frustration.

3. Time Bomb by Rancid

I discovered this song as a Jacobi song, but I can imagine Kepler in his mid teen years falling in with the ‘wrong crowd’ and having a rebellious phase. Once more mostly a reflection of an upbringing forcing him to grow up too fast and a restless anger from being someone very intelligent with few opportunities.

4. King for a Day by Green Day

This is on there for gender headcanons that are very influenced by the headcanons of a friend of mine @vvarren-kepler (who will have more insightful comments about this than me). But it boils down to, Kepler is always someone who uses his image as a tool, and maybe at goddard he uses a traditionally masculine presentation to achieve a specific image and effect and because he knows life will be easier for him that way. Maybe, just maybe, when he was younger with a bit more freedom, he was a bit different.

6. Red Right Hand by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

This one is here for his recruitment into Goddard. I like to hc that Cutter recruited him himself, and so in this song Cutter is the man with the red right hand, coming to “rescue” kepler from his life with high and dangerous promises

7. The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie by Colter Wall

This song is a fun one for Kepler in general, but like the one before the “devil” in this song is actually Cutter. This is another one I have on here for his recruitment. I really like the metaphor of goddard as something kepler “sold his soul” or his humanity to, like Lovelace points out in that one scene.

Highlighting this lyric because I can really see cutter using a “you’re just like me” kind of technique when recruiting kepler:

8. Megalomania by David Lemaitre

This is for him as he’s just joined Goddard, getting used to the cutthroat lifestyle and feeling a little out of his depth.

9. Call Them Brothers by Regina Spektor

I’ve mentioned before that I hc Kepler as having a younger brother that he was the primary caretaker of growing up but who he is now estranged from. This is the process of that estrangement. I think kepler did stick around and take care of him at least until he came of age and could take care of himself, but not for long after that. This could also be the time he decides to change his name and separate himself from his family entirely (I also hc that Kepler isn’t his real surname)

10. Glory and Gore by Lorde

This one is also on his official playlist, and I’m using it to represent his transfer from more normal work in goddard to the black-ops work he ends up leading. I think he probably didn’t start there, but it’s always where Cutter intended to put him. This lyric is one I think fits him pretty well:

BIOGRAPHY (tw death mention, car accident)

Once upon a time, Whitney was living in New York and had a rather cozy life, what with the nice house and her parents’ income. Quite the achiever growing up, wanting to please her parents. Good grades, a part of clubs, a cheerleader and softball player, the like.

Though not everything lasts forever or whatever the hell they say. Whitney was around sixteen when their mother passed. Wrong place, wrong time. A mugging.

Then after Whitney graduated high school, her father ended up getting arrested. Apparently he had been linked to various crime organizations for years.  

Whitney had already started to lose some of that light in their eyes after their mother’s passing, but with her father being put behind bars, things fell a part even more.

How dare he? How dare he do all of that shit? How dare he… break his daughter’s trust? Ruin so much? Did her mother ever know at all? Guess Whitney would never know the answers, for she never visited her father once since the trial verdict.

For years after that, Whitney tried to act like she was fine even when she wasn’t. Nonetheless, she still went to university and got degrees in business, legal studies, and English. She worked as a paralegal for a few years, even planning on going the lawyer route one day.

Too bad the universe had other plans. Whitney was in West Virginia for work conferences around four years ago, and ended up needing to drive across state.

Another driver apparently had dozed off, and the two cars collided. Thankfully neither passenger was hurt, but Whitney was frustrated to put it lightly. She ended up following the other woman, Carolina, to the nearby town. To make sure she didn’t end up ditching the situation.

Well, ha, let’s just say Whitney never made it to that work conference. When the town’s residents explained that they were actually trapped there, Whitney laughed out loud. “You’re joking, right?” Something like that, she stated.

Turns out they were not joking, and the rest was history.

Whitney is a city girlie, so the whole ‘stuck in a small town forever’ thing hadn’t been on her bucket list. It was like they were somehow thrown into some cliché, small town movie. Well, plus some ghosts or whatever. Oh yeah, that’s a thing too.

Who does Whitney usually hear or see? Her mother, mostly. Which saddens her. Sometimes even her father, which pisses her off even if she knows by that point that he wasn’t actually there.

TL;DR

Whitney grew up comfortably in New York, the achiever type, always wanting to please her parents

Her mother died when she was a teenager and after high school her father went to prison due to crime organization dealings

Never went to visit him and tried to move on, trying to act like she was okay when she wasn’t

Went to university and majored in a few things, working as a paralegal for a few years

He threw himself wholeheartedly back into training, dedicating every waking moment to understanding how they worked. Kyan buried his head in engineering textbooks, spent hours learning about early torture methods, and poured over every little detail of every past arena. When not at The Academy, he was deep in work at his father’s company, working as many connections as he possibly could.

When Kyan aged out of the Games at 21, the call came. He supposed his father had something to do with it, but he certainly wasn’t going to complain. A chance to move to the Capitol, to become a gamemaker. It was almost unprecedented. There had been whispers in the circle of elites; that one family from 2 had made it years ago, trading their life in the districts to the luxury of the Capitol. For this to happen to him was a blessing. He took the job.

The adjustment to live in the Capitol was easy. Struggle was not a word in the Maddox family’s vocabulary, but the luxuries provided by the Capitol were far beyond what he could ever imagine. He loved life. He loved his job. Kyan had come out on top.

It wasn’t until years later when a fellow gamemaker proposed a trap so horrific it made his stomach churn and broke their promise that they wouldn’t bring it to the arena that he realized the rose-colored glasses were coming off. It happened slowly; the doubt, the questions. It was around this time he heard the rumblings of a rebellion.

Slowly, Kyan fell out of love with the Capitol. Resentment began to build, not only towards the system that had allowed such horror but towards himself for being such an eager facilitator. When Plutarch Heavensbee approached, asking him to join the rebellion, there was no hesitation.

Kyan became a rogue in the Capitol, serving as a spy for the rebellion, swearing to tear the cursed beast limb from limb.

Pardon Me While I Bury The Lede

There's been a lot of talk about whether the President is too old to be the Exalted Grand Poobah for a second 4 year term. 

I'm sure there are some people that could manage it at his age - just like there are some people that could run a 4 minute mile.  

But 99% of men, 99.937% of women and almost all of the other 437 genders cannot run a 4 minute mile. And those that can, I'm sure none of them are 80 years old.

(Although...... come to think of it, on 23 May, 2013, Yuichiro Miura of Japan successfully climbed Mount Everest when he was 80 years, 224 days old.

(Although...... coming to rethink of it, here's what a typical Mount Everest climb looks like these days.  Current record 358 in one day. Maybe it's not that hard anymore.)

But I digest.  Back to my point.

Take a look at what each of the Presidents looked like going in and what they looked like after serving.  It's a meat grinder of a job.

In terms of the Presidency in 2024, I paraphrase my good friend Chief Joseph, "Hear me! I am tired. From where the sun now stands, I will run for President no more forever."

I know, I'm as bummed as you are but there is no way I could stand the rigors of being president - not physically, not mentally, not emotionally, not no way.

Pretty sure I was never good enough to be President, but even if I ever was, I ain't now.

My strength and stamina degraded gradually over many decades. Mentally I peaked long ago as well.  

Looking back I can pinpoint the precise apex of my mental sharpness.

I don't know the date but I remember it like it was yesterday. Late 60's early 70's. Somewhere in the South Pacific. On board the Missile Tracking Ship USNS Arnold.

A gentleman named Paul Vise was in charge of the 50 or so geeks who repaired and operated all of the electronics and computer systems.  

Paul's title was Ship's Instrumentation Manager.  We called him the SIM.

His deputy was named Sam.  (Sam saved me from getting fired twice - but that's another story or two.)

Mr. Vise was being transferred back east and the overlords at Missile Test Project HQ decided to promote Sam to be the new Ship's Instrumentation Manager.

At that time I was part of group of nerd defectives that voluntarily put together the USNS Arnold Newspaper.  

It was mostly stupid crap like this blog, but, unlike this blog we sometimes accidentally mixed in useful information and real news.

We were meeting to go over an article about the upcoming change of command and we eventually started bouncing around ideas for a terse, attention grabbing headline to put on the front page.

Somebody asked me if I had any ideas.  

I grinned and said, "You guys discuss all your irrelevant, puny ideas.  When you are done, let me know and I will tell you the absolute bestest headline."

"Trust me, everyone in this room will agree that my headline is dead on, hands down, no doubt awesome and I will henceforth be revered as the god of terse, tense, tease and wit." (or something to that effect)

After about 15 minutes of discussion the 'editor' turned to me and,  "OK, genius, we've come up with a couple that sound pretty good.  What the big steaming pile of &$%! is your great idea?"

Pausing about 5 seconds to achieve maximum suspense and effect......   I proudly blurted out,  "SAM SIM VICE VISE!".

I was hoping for stunned silence followed by a standing ovation with a chorus of "Huzzah!" ending with someone shouting, "Beane! You Magnificent Bastard!!!!"

Instead I got a quietly whispered, "OK, that's not bad.... let's go with that."

In terms of mental acuity and verbal mastery, that was pretty much the high water mark for me and it's been downhill ever since. 

My court appointed psychiatrist says not to worry, I just peaked a little too soon.

So I know the limits imposed on me by the years.  I'm a step slower upstairs. 

I've physically and mentally degraded to the point that I'm now in the bottom 63% of the population in terms of coolest, healthiest, prettiest and acutarist(?) austuterest(?) perspecautios(?)   smartest. 

So..... if nominated, I will not run.  If elected, I will not serve.

This is a multi-fandom blog and there's a possibility that I might even start writing for even MORE fandoms. Each fandom has specific rules that I'm going to specify. If you plan on requesting a fandom from me, check the rules for the fandom.

General rules

No explicit nsfw, its not something I see myself being able to write any time soon. Suggestive stuff I'm chill with.

One character per one-shot request.

3-4 characters per headcanon request is the limit. The Haikyuu fandom is the only fandom that works around this, I'll specify how in the Haikyuu specific rules.

Please when you request do characters from the same fandom, if you don't I'm gonna do separate post for each fandom you requested for separately. It would be easier for me if you just sent in multiple asks with the same prompt just with the character's separated by show.

I wanna elaborate on that a little cause I feel like I explained it sorta badly. If you request "Dating HCs with Izuku, Katsuki, Kageyama and Tsukishima" I would make two separate posts, one for the haikyuu characters and one with the my hero characters. I would prefer if you sent in two different asks. "Dating HCs with Izuku and Katsuki" and then "Dating HCs with Kageyama and Tsukishima" I don't mind the spam.

If the character is below the age of 16 I only write platonic stuff with them (The my hero boys are 16)

I write all genres but I'm still trying to get the hang of angst.

I can do mini text SMAU's. I'm open for you sending in concepts for a SMAU series that I would ofc credit you for. I've been thinking about doing one for a while, but no ideas have hit me.

Please be specific with your requests, I need more than "Fluff with xxx" but like slightly more detail than that is the bare minimum.

I don't care if your request description runs long, I'll work with almost anything, slightly vague or really specific.

I'll take requests where the reader's appearance is the prompt.

I do POC!Readers as well, I enjoying being inclusive.

I'll write for, but won't romanticize mental illness/disorders in readers, like I said I like being inclusive, but keep in mind if I don't have that mental illness it'll take longer for the request to get done because I want to educate myself on it. If I feel like I won't be able to capture it well I may deny the request.

I'll do platonic and familial x readers, but DEFINITELY no incest

The only triggering/sensitive topics I won't do is s**cide and s*lf harm. But some topics I might feel uncomfortable doing, no hard feelings if I deny the request because of it.

I'll never do teacher x student.

I won't do character x character, or character x oc

But I love hearing about your OCs!!!! The only reason I won't write for them is because I don't think I'll have a good understanding of their character. But if theres a scenario you relate to your OC that I can manage to put into reader insert form I'll do it! I don't care how specific the scenario is!

I offer a shit ton of loopholes to combat me not doing character x oc stuff! And I encourage you to find some that I don't specify here in the rules.

I'll do song requests... If I like the song. I'm really not picky with my music, though (My playlist is 20+ hours long and the only way you can achieve that is with not being picky with music)

It's totally okay to ask for a prompt I've already done but with different characters.

I do emergency requests when I feel like I can get a piece done within a week. I can be a fast writer when I want to be.

School can and will hit me like a truck sometimes, if you're request ain't done fast I'm probably underneath a mountain of schoolwork, please have patience. If you rush me I might just delete your request.

Treat me with respect. Its the barest minimum.

I don't do matchups unless its some sort of special occasion.

I write for all genders but fem and GN the best, male isn't completely off the table, though.

I don't do yandere themes.

I don't do poly requests simply because I feel like I wouldn't be good at it.

I am very biased. There's a 90% chance that if you compliment me in your request I'll get it done quicker I'm not gonna lie to you.

I'm a really lenient person and if your request doesn't obviously go against these rules there's a 9/10 chance I'll do it.

My hero academia rules.

I write for almost all the characters except for Mineta and the extra boys in 1A that get like a line per season (Sero is NOT included when I say that, he is a king who I will write for). I don't write for Overhaul, Endeavor or any characters only introduced in the manga, either though.

I write for the girls and women of My Hero.

Quirk specific requests are a-ok (Another loophole around me not doing character x oc)

But when you do request something revolving around the reader's quirk please provide a thorough explanation of it.

I refuse to accept Katsuki's hero name as Dynamight so yeah we still call him ground zero on this blog 😐

I'll age the 1A boys up to the point where they're pro heroes if the prompt calls for it, but not for nasty reasons.

I know the my hero fandom is so much more than just toxic but it does exist, so please don't bring any stuff onto this blog, this isn't even a "request rule" per se. I'm never up to date with fandom drama like that and I'm not very interested in it 99% of the time.

I just want good vibes.

Haikyuu request rules

When I said that haikyuu didn't follow the 3-4 character rule limit, I meant that sometimes I do writing that includes the entire team.

Its usually short little headcanons, though. Nothing too full fledged and they might not even be reader inserts.

I write for almost all teams and characters that have been introduced thoroughly. The only characters that are pretty popular that I don't write for are: Makki, Ennoshita, Terushima, Hoshiumi, and Kinoshita.

All other characters are pretty much on the table.

I believe in pretty setter supremacy.

Although I don't read the manga, I know what all the Haikyuu boys' occupations are post-timeskip so feel free to request something pertaining to that.

I can't think of anything else so that's it for haikyuu specific rules.

Bungou Stray Dogs rules.

I'm trying to catch up on the manga, but as of right now I do not write manga-only characters.

I don't write for Fyodor, either but other than him I don't think I have a problem with any other characters. I don't enjoy writing for The Guild (with an exception being Poe) but they are still on the table

The only time I would feel comfortable writing about the triggering topics I said I wasn't gonna do is when it comes to Dazai, its his main personality trait so its unavoidable lmao.

I'll do requests that have the reader with a specific ability!! (One of the loopholes of me not writing for OCs)

But please provide a good explanation of the ability.
