started playing both fe engage and persona 4 last weekend... don’t really have any p4 thoughts yet other than the music slaps and I miss baton passes. preliminary engage thoughts under the cut (i’m only up to like chapter 6 lmao so if you’ve played past that you’ll be fine)
story and characters are very bland. I laughed during lumeras ridiculously overdramatic death scene (that is not criticism btw).
tbh on the whole I wish the plot was slightly hammier, and embraced the game’s ridiculous premise even more? I’m at least happy that they’re not trying to make it seem deeper than it actually is though *side-eyes fates*
I do genuinely hope the characters get more interesting though... alear is fun when they’re being pathetic, but they haven’t been that way in the last couple of chapters, which is a shame
also, speaking of alear, they’re literally just a better written corrin. tbh this game kinda feels like a re-do of fates in the opposite way that feth does - namely it’s basically an OP royal collector which isn’t trying to take itself seriously
zephia is my favourite since I enjoy how one-dimensionally evil she is. you go, queen
okay, for real, in terms of personality my fav would probably be etie, but I absolutely loathe her design. colour scheme is ugly, it doesn’t suit her personality, and it’s just... ugly in general lmao. I guess alfred is my backup fav
the gameplay is good though!! was worried the emblem rings were gonna be way too OP, but I’m playing in hard mode and it’s way more challenging than what I thought it was going to be
