NO MATTER HOW INTENSELY he was stared at, nothing Sasume did was going to intimidate him enough to ever back down from his sharp glare. He remained sitting behind his desk, pen in hand, but document long since ignored in favor of trying to deal with a certain, exceedingly stubborn individual. ❝So you say. However,❞ he paused, placing his pen down with a faint clack upon that polished wood, ❝the scent of blood states otherwise. You were wounded on a previous job and attempted to cover it up thinking that you could take on another job without anyone being aware. Unfortunately, something that strong is a bit too hard to hide.❞ Though the Captain could handle situations like this, to Jianyu, he had a tendency to be too soft and forgiving.

     This would not be the case with him.

     No amount of excuses would convince Jianyu to back off from what he already had in mind in regards to dealing with Sasume and her overly reckless demeanor. ❝What excuse do you have to tell me for your lack of care towards your own health? What nonsense will you spew to me this time? Going to continue to tell me that you can take care of yourself?❞ His tone was cold, authoritative, but ultimately, what he really felt was exasperation. She wasn’t the first person in the company that would practically want to rush off with bandages beneath clothing. Even so, how aggravating it was having to deal with this all the same.

"trade secret, darling." viktoriya examines the lock, betwixt her thumb and index finger. she doesn't answer the question in a straightforwards way. of course she had eyes and ears everywhere, and of course she'd jump to sasume's assistance whenever and wherever she could.

viktoriya suddenly, and purposely strikes the lock with the hilt of her blade, before pulling the shackle from the lock and tossing aside the contraption as if it had personally offended her. ( and it had! who skimps out on locks?) "it's not something you that you have to worry your pretty self with."

for a lil overview, i talk about vampire's blood here and here!

the quick and short answer is: yes! it doesn't matter who gives you their blood so long as you consume enough of it. this is practiced by those in a relationship of three or more people, and though it's a bit more emotionally challenging, it isn't any harder or easier for the mortal to become a vampire.

as an extra little tidbit, the children of nott will turn people/find opposing vampires and drain them of their blood to use for their willing converts. this avoids the issue of the mortals feeling the emotions of the children and vice versa. to be clear, they kill the vampire after taking their blood.

aside from the emotional connection that forms from consuming it, there are no other benefits to drinking vampire's blood no matter who it is you're drinking from. mortals don't need to consume it bc they're alive; vampire's blood specifically has necromantic properties, so that renders any effect it might have null and void until a mortal dies, becoming a vampire themself.

it can be used as a magical amplifier, but you must make a blood sacrifice as you cast your spell or have an amulet/token/etc. that is soaked, fused, etc. with vampires blood. simply having the blood in your system won't do anything for your magic as the blood's properties are applied to your body rather than your spell in that situation.

Behind the plain white fan shielding their mouth from view, a smile forms. This cultivator really is just too adorable for her own good! Whatever will they do about her? They snap their fan closed.

     "𝐀𝐥𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭, 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝: 𝐈'𝐦 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩. It's good to have someone watching your back even if you think you don't need it." Their gait quickens to match hers. To walk with weight, to recover lost breath, to wipe sweat from the brow; all a performance art they've mastered, if only to assuage the ache of not needing any of it. They wonder if she'd praise them for their efforts. Not likely. Hers is a mouth unaccustomed to delivering niceties, or so Shi Qingxuan suspects. A stinging sense of familiarity lights their stomach on fire. They smother it by asking, "Fill me in on the details, pretty please?"

      HE HAD FRESH AIR all the time. How much more was he supposed to have? Eyes narrowed from behind green lenses, his arms crossing over his chest. ❝Are you trying to get rid of me?❞ Whenever he heard that phrase, it was always an attempt to shoo someone away for whatever reason. Sasume made it all rather obvious this was her poor attempt at getting him to rest…as if he needed something like that when he’d be able to do more than enough resting after work. ❝The faster we get through this, the quicker I can get off and go home. I am not letting you handle the rest of the work alone.❞ There was a pointed stare offered, and although it was a bit difficult to see it with that faint glare on the lenses of his goggles, surely Sasume had to have felt as if his very gaze was burning holes through her.

he's seen the way she looks at him on occasion; he's also hardly ever seen her relax, to let go of the tension within toned muscles, beneath scarred skin. it makes him wonder what sasume would look like at ease, all soft and without so much restraint. it makes him wonder about other things, too, which he will admit is likely a side effect of going... well, he isn't sure how long it's been since he's laid with another person. he was busy long before all of this mess with the traitor king, having little time for indulging his desires.

could he find someone among the free army to relieve himself? yes, but cyrillo is curious ( and sex is much better between friends than strangers ).

" may i ask you a personal question, carissima? " he asks that night on the way back to his quarters. the halls of the dwarves' castle are empty save for the occasional guard. when sa gives him permission, a sly smile grows across his face, a little glint in his dark gaze ( he's expecting a flustered reaction, looks forward to it ). " i understand that we had an arrangement, but do you really find my actions to be that of someone as casual as a fuck buddy? " the words should sound harsher than they do, falling from his lips like honey dripping from honeycomb even as frustration coats each syllable. cyrillo looms over sasume, cradles her face between gentle hands as his dark gaze flicks between her eyes to her lips. closer still he comes and touches his forehead to the merc's.

" if that's all i was, i would not act so damned possessive, would i? nor would i worry so much or care so deeply, hmm? " the vampire murmurs. is sasume truly so dense, or is he terrible at showing his heart? " i'm so tired of dancing around the unsaid, so answer me plainly: what do you feel for me? "

1. does dorverold have monsters/fantastical non-humanoids? if so, any specific ones you've already decided on?

the only non-humanoids i've decided on are dragons and technically valravn ( if they are unable to eat a human heart, they remain in a half-raven half-wolf form ), but more are definitely possible! i know sea monsters of some sort exist bc the sea god sjór created them to spite humans who caused a famine that his children had to suffer through. aside from that, i haven't gotten deep into creatures in dorverold -- it's something to think about, though! i do want to say that there might be certain " great beasts " that are endangered, in hiding, or extinct for various reasons ( typically war, the passage of time, and generally not vibing with the mortals of the " modern " age ). in example, dragons are uncommon but do exist. they are few in number, though there never was a lot of them, and they remain in humanoid forms to avoid being hunted. they were created by líf to be guardians of the land and sea, but very few still act as such since the gods went away.

2. can vampires drink other vampires' blood for sustenance ( like they can/do humans' )? can they drink the blood of animals, etc., so long as they're alive?

sadly, drinking another vampire's blood will not provide any sustenance, though it will give the illusion of a full belly for a little while, kind of like how coffee curbs one's appetite but does nothing to actually sate your hunger. a vampire's blood does not have the vitality that a regular mortal's has, so it's no good for food. basically? a vampire is not only drinking a person's blood but the natural energy in their blood as well. hopefully that's not as confusing as it sounds to me rn asdf that said, they can drink animals' blood and often do/say they do as society does not look kindly upon vampires who prefer mortal blood. mortals get all nervous about it if a vampire admits they prefer a willing mortal over blood from the butcher.

3. are magically-created beings ( vampires, valravn, etc. ) able to reproduce?

it really depends on the being! vampires are still undead even if their bodies are able to function normally as long as they drink blood, so producing life would be impossible or, at the very least, highly improbable. valravn are probably capable of reproduction, but valravn aren't meant to be loving, nurturing individuals who desire to have a family. it's not impossible, but valravn are better known for living alone and prioritizing their survival and comfort. if they chose to, a valravn could reproduce with a mortal, but that child might first appear like a fresh valravn -- a beast in need of a first meal. dragons are able to reproduce with each other and mortals, which is how the dreki first came about. a dreki child whose parent is a dragon will be much heartier than the dreki of today, though, and may even possess some of their parent's innate magic. and i'm just realizing dragons are not magically-created, so i didn't need to talk about them asdfg but have that as a bonus i guess :' ))

Ozy will always be fascinated by those who become Servants through extraordinary means. Sasume, for example, falls into that category as she is not a warrior from a bygone era or one whose names rang throughout the ages one way or another whether it through fact or fiction. She pretty much falls outside of this since she was just a mage and nothing more, only known to a select few people. Even so, that was enough to bind her to the World as one to be called upon when necessary to defend it. This makes her interesting. As a result, he will more than likely ask her questions -- dig deep to find out more about who she is and what it is she stands for primarily out of his own innate curiosity if nothing else. Ozy, though, is a fickle person who grows bored easily, although whether he would grow bored once he gains all he desires from Sasume is a mystery in itself.

👋 for three things that describe our muses relationship.

I'm just brainstorming here since I'm not really sure what their relationship would be like so bear with me fjksdhfjks, but it would probably be fairly cordial, I think. Chances are, it was probably built from mutual curiosity, and though Ozy can be exhausting from time to time due to his ego, what might have once been something that probably had Sasume sighing will more than likely just become normalcy in time depending on how much they speak to one another. So the best ways I can describe their 'potential' relationship overall based on how they interact would be: cordial, based on curiosity, and possibly, MAYBE mutual respect.
