If I'm being honest, I would switch the roles here cause I think Weiss would be the one to confess first, but then the similarities between Shirou and Rin wouldn't be there. UBW Abridged is great because there's one scene where Medea asks Archer if he's gonna hit her with his arrows (being an archer) and he gets super defensive and just quickly "PROJECTILES, yes". Also his Clairvoyance is represented by him looking at the events of the 2006 FSN anime and its awesome

Ok so I have a serious question. Should I find a way to download fsn? I'm a big fan of Rin and Sakura but not so much Shirou because all I see of him nowadays is funny haha high jump harem protag man. I tolerate Shirou but I feel like my view of him is somewhat tainted because of how a majority of the fgo community portrays him. Also, I hear nothing but praise about fsn and I'm starving for good content in this dark times.

I mean, I'd just watch the dub of the 2015 UBW series and be done with it. But I dislike FSN as a whole, to the point I never bothered to download it and stuck to watching it, namely that aformentioned LOVELY dub and then reading up on the gaps. So yeah, I'm not a good person to ask. At all. That said, I do have a friend who knows basically all about it and is generally a fan. From our talks and what I've been begrudgingly convinced to look through (hence the reading up and a certain small degree of familiarity with the HF movies) I can tell you from both his mouth and mine that Shirou is divisive not cause he's badly written but cause he's just got serious flaws that arent painted over. He works way better as a character with the context of Kerry in Zero, which is ironic because Zero contradicts Artoria's character in SN to a large degree. Ignore how the fans portray him, they're typically inaccurate either out of flanderization or hero worship and the general fanboyism of both Koto and Shirou is, in my experience, often (but not always) from the worst kind of people who like them for all the wrong reasons. To reiterate I despise Shirou but my best friend loves him and we normally have views that line up about 80% of the time so that should show that it really is just a matter of personal taste. Rin and Archer have a great dynamic (side note: Watch the abridged version if nothing else) and Sakura is the non-extra related master I hate most in the series so uh... *Awkward cough*

Never trust anyone who says Heaven's Feel is the best though. They're blinded by the blatant pandering.

Medea

Medea-

First impression: I thought she seemed a little bland at first until she pulled out the hella sick knife and then I thought she was rad

Impression now: She kinda falls into an archetype of female character who was scorned and reasonably turned ‘evil’ because of it that I absolutely go nuts for. Does not get enough screentime or attention from TM.

Favorite moment: Her summoning in the UBW anime

Idea for a story: I’d really like to see Medea be a central figure in a story/whatever that has Morgan le Fay as a central antagonist

Unpopular opinion: I think Medea is a lot more interesting than a few of the FSN servants that get pushed by the fans/Type-Moon and absolutely deserves more attention to her regular incarnation and not that abomination, Medea Lily. 

ALSO, as an extra- maybe- unpopular opinion, I really hate how they’ve mellowed Medea out over the years. I get that it’s nice to see her just be a happy housewife and all, but I want to see more of the scheming and morally grey witch she’s made out to be in FSN. Let her be more of a bastard, dammit.  

Favorite relationship: I’m pretty indifferent to any and all ships or pairings with her, and I don’t find her and Kuzuki all that endearing as a pairing because Kuzuki is just so boring to me 

Favorite headcanon: I don’t really have any headcanons of her BUT I do pretty much just think of UBW Abridged’s version of her when I think of her

Huh, I’m noticing similarities between Angra Mainyu and other characters. Namely Archer. Maybe not really the whole putting all the sins of humanity on him, but the people always looked for someone to blame, and executed him.

So Angra Mainyu, having all the blame put on him, does share a parallel with Archer in a way.

So, basically Archer shares some similarities with the way the so-called devil was treated...wait a second.

Oh. Okay. I don’t know if that’s a coincidence, but if this was intentional by the creators of the UBW abridged group I like then that’s kind of cool.

Basically, there’s a joke in the series about how Rin calls him “Actually Satan” because she assumes that to be his identity because he wears a lot of red and is rude. Which, given the similarities I pointed out just now, could explain that choice.
