Perhaps DoYu is simply overshadowed by other ships (YuWin, YuMark, JohnDo, TaeDo). I regularly see it in oneshot compilations and as exes in JaeDo fics.

DoYu has memorable moments (Yuta kissing Do on stage, recreation of the Titanic pose, DoYu bickering in a car, Do fixing Yuta's hair, Yuta taking care of Do's sleeves at the table, Do wearing the slippers Yuta gifted him for a long time), however, otherwise they are not very noticeable in content. Yuta kind of avoids Do when his bro Jay is around, he is different from JN and Tae, he doesn't want to get in trouble.

The fans who stan them also are mostly attracted by different qualities (looks, "cool personality" vs voice, "cute personality"). Yuta is popular in LaTam, Do is SEA.

I didn't mean to disregard your points on why Yumark is not popular among fans, I'd just like to add my observation on the side of the internet that I have stumbled upon. There, Yumark is seen as a replacement of Yuwin, an out of nowhere ship or another ploy by SM to tie Yuta to the number group/nct (as you mentioned, Yuta tends to seperate himself from 127 alot). And yes, fans do like seeing Yuta getting doted on, but in Yumark, the dynamic (on screen) was not like that in the beginning. Especially when a lot of people painted Yumark as Yuta force himself on the uncomfortable Mark, which made both (only)Yuta and Mark stans unhappy. So not good first impression, which to me, also leads their refusal to change their view on their relationship. And fans consist of various individuals, so what I have stumbled upon is just a small fraction.

And I think Mark gets a pass because he is cute. The cute flowery boys are more favored in Korea, and Mark and his popular ships with cute Korean boys fit that shoe.

mark gets a pass because of his popularity, in comparison to say, taeil who is the picture perfect flowery idol yet none of his ships are really popular either. mark was pushed as sm’s golden boy alongside taeyong right from the start. meaning, certain mark ships were also pushed and they stuck. other members never got this level of exposure.

Exol’s are attacking nctzens and calling them delulu, they say that baekyong is just fan service and it’s forced like yumark. Baekyong might just be fan service but no one can deny that Tae is a big fanboy and really looks up to baek as an artist and person. I doubt yumark is forced either. Welp. Next thing we see is them calling Taedo and jaedo stans delulu and “forced by sm”.

127 staying back with Baekhyun - of course it’s a promotion in all directions.

1) Look how respectful and suppportive 127 are of their sunbae. By the way, have you heard of EXO? Try their stuff!

2) Look how kind and cheerful Baekhyun is with his hoobae, a true hyung and an inspiration for younger artists. By the way, what do you think about Super M and 127? Check them out!

3) SM is one big family! All artists love each other! Come to see them at the next SMtown!

It is also entertaining, Baek got himself backup dancers and fans, with the editor adding hearts here and there. SM always promote newer artists with older ones. SM Rookies like Jae and Johnny appeared on EXO’s show way before debut. Heechul hosted the programme explaining what 127 is about. TY track in an RV song. Etc.

Nothing’s wrong with that. On the contrary, it’s a great PR strategy. Cross-pollination works. I had been running away from Taemin being constantly offered to me by YT until Super M, than I surrendered, checked and bought his albums.

You can make artists stay back, but you can’t make them fake real emotions unless they are actors. Here is Tae shaking hands with EXO 3 years ago (0:22), way before Super M. There are many videos of NCT fanboying. And Johnny was even “supposed” to debut with EXO timewise.

You know well yourself, antis and solo stans don’t need a reason, just an excuse. Ignore them.
