Bookmarker's Notes:
I love the way @scribbleb-red brings us right.into.the.center of the universe where her stories take place. In this one I could feel the HEAT, smell the ocean air, feel the sand underneath my feet + s e e each of the characters, especially that enigmatic kite surfing human.
Reader, come join journalist Andrew Minyard as he travels far away from his urban environment to the isolated Maldives. Witness how sometimes, just sometimes, saying yes to small things leads to saying yes in larger ways.

SECRET SANTA WEEK 3!
Thank you to everyone who signed up to participate! And remember if you missed signing up for this week, you have the option to join in for the final week!
Each character participating in this week’s Secret Santa has (at random) been given a holiday-inspired alias. Below the cut is an alphabetized list of aliases and their respective questionnaire answers.
In just a few moments you should receive via Tumblr IM and a Discord message letting you know which alias your character has been paired with to deliver a Secret Santa gift.
Remember that you have until 11:59PM EST on Friday to submit your gift to the Main or April for your assignee.
On Saturday all gifts and Secret Santa pairs will be revealed via April’s blog.
If there’s any confusion or you have questions, please let us know! Happy gifting!

In India there are several places that have an adventure hidden within them. Amongst these places are Manali, Rishikesh, Leh Ladak, Jim Corbett etc. Each of these places have a taste of youthfulness and mystery. If you visit Ladakh, one should always go for Chadar Trek for a thrilling experience in trekking. It is one during the winter season so that the wanderers can enjoy the snow all the way. Jim Corbett in Uttarakhand is a place with an endless species of animals and nationals parks and also one of the finest resorts to accommodate in.
Andaman has this Scuba diving activity that will surround you with water and take you to the depths of water and help you explore the aqua life and the beautiful creatures down there. Rajasthan is a place not only with forts and palaces but also has an adventure within it like hot air ballooning which make the world will look small in front of you.
Rishikesh which is a pilgrimage centre, has many activities to enjoy such as river rafting, rock and cliff climbing, camping and India’s highest Bunjee Jumping. An experience that every adventurer has to have is the Manali to Leh trip on bike. This ought to be one of the most fun things to do. Did you know that Your phone is always listening?
Whenever you use the default setups, Your phone is always listening to every little thing you say via an onboard mic. … Your cell phone isn’t the only gadget that’s monitoring and always listening.
The FBI advises that cyberpunks may, in fact, take control of your smart TELEVISION if you do not safeguard it.
Absolutely nothing you do on your mobile phone is exclusive or secure.
In this particular day and age, the majority of people are incredibly dependent on our cell phones, and a lot of Americans do not even recognize that these advanced very little phones are collecting tons of relevant information about every one of us 24/7.
Your telephone learns and knows what you look like, it recognizes the tone of your speech, it also knows just where you been, it really learns in which store you shopped, it really recognizes your World wide web searches and also it knows what you like to do during your spare time. As a matter of fact, your mobile phone essentially understands countless things pertaining to you, plus all of this information is generally purchased & marketed each and every single day without anyone finding out.
There are tons of providers in the market which make use of info gathered directly from our smartphone to develop top-secret “spying ratings/charts” which are used for an entire multitude of disconcerting objectives.
Can you show me if your smartphone is being tracked?
Generally, there are a number of tell-tale indicators that are signs that your cell phone is tracking you, If it’s tapped, or perhaps tracked somehow. The indications may be rather slight, nevertheless, once you recognize what to watch out for, they may be doing a slow burn: Look for Uncommon tones in the course of telephone calls.
It is vital to know and understand that your telephone is a monitoring tool. The main reason why the ads on your mobile phones appear so flawlessly customized for you is due to all of the details that your telephone has collected about you earlier.
Even today, many individuals are quite surprised when an advertisement appears on their cell phone when they were just chatting with a buddy about, however,  know that this does NOT occur by accident. The list below originates from Fox News reports …
Can your cell phone record anyone without them finding out?
Type “history.google.com/history” right into your internet browser. In the left-hand menu, click on ‘Activity controls’. Roll to the ‘Voice & Audio activity’ area and also click on this. There you’ll discover a chronological listing regarding all of the voice and also audio documents that are going to consist of any kind of captured without anyone knowing.
Maybe you’ve been recently speaking with a friend regarding an island holiday when all of a sudden offers for the Maldives or perhaps Hawaii appear on your Facebook. Or perhaps you’re talking with your colleague about lawn work when ads with about lawnmowers clutter your Twitter, or perhaps you were discussing the reason that you quit drinking and an indiscriminate financed short article pertaining to the expanding pattern of “sobriety” is all of a sudden before your eyes.
Yes, you are being monitored and this will NEVER end.
Were you tacked before, are you being tracked now? Give us your story below…

LAURENCE FOX@LozzaFox·5hKeep telling them that. It’s an interesting take. LAURENCE FOX@LozzaFox·6hStop proving my point for me! This is meant to be a debate!   Pissing off Twatter is usually an indicator that you are over the target. Peace be with you. https://twitter.com/colinmccredie/status/1218240009855275009 Oh yes I did.Quote TweetSMG@sammandigee · 7h...has... has Laurence Fox just decontextualised Martin Luther King to support his claim as a white man? oh no https://twitter.com/lozzafox/status/1218188790612877312 The stunning bravery of this tweet is compelling and rich. This is the position I took last night and I live by in life. If you can improve on it, I’m all ears. Or you can keep screeching “Racist!” at me and I can carry on having a jolly good giggle at your expense. The tide is turning. The sad thing is that for all your suposed brain power you have not read nor understood what I have written, as  you are too busy telling me and everybody on here how magnificent you are. I think you lost the dressing room when you said..
You were doing so well up until then (I’m lying) Like you even believe your piers findings , I bet you are still driving your Volvo diesel  flying BA to a couple holidays per year, hell you’re even arguing the toss with me on your laptop in your centrally heated home, so much for taking the lead and living in a hut off grid. Call yourself an academic?,  I’m thinking more Kim Philby than Albert Einstein. Imagine if your piers or your old Dons could read what you have written on this public form, do you think they would hold you in admiration for putting your scientific case forward? or would they just see a flawed scientist  full of vile pomposity and narcissm? You actually give  man made climate change a bad name ~ as if it could get any worse ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ It's a weakness of your character to attempt to tar me by association with flat earthers, cabals, and other conspiracies which I don't believe in. but I would guess you’d have to, just to bolster up your one way evidence. The weird thing is that for all your supposed genius you have not understood what I have written, as  you are too busy telling me and everybody on here how magnificent you are. Sure you (MMCC scientists) have *evidence* but so do other scientists to the contrary who, in all this religious type of hysteria are not getting heard, why?... because a buck can be made from green taxes, therefore the other is dismissed, it is as simple as that, it’s not even a conspiracy,  just plain market forces. Given, you  may be onto a little something, as just by being on this little rock we make a difference , but what you have put forward is forced and twisted, your books are cooked for a reason. Thanks for the reading advice, but as you are recommending secondary school material I’d in turn   reccomend you to read back your own words on here, which if ever presented to your old dons and piers , would they I wonder hold you in admiration for putting your scientific case forward? or would they just see as I do an egotistical social media poster full of his own vile pomposity and narcissm.   PS What year will the Maldives be underwater? ....(that question goes to you and Greta). Rather than argue the toss you have attempted a straight forward character assasination that looking at back the mess of the  thread you created seems to have bit you in the ass. could read what you have written on this public form, do you think they would hold you in admiration for putting your scientific case forward? or would they just see a flawed scientist  full of vile pomposity and narcissm?

In a move that has sparked outcry from archaeologists, historians and locals, the Peruvian government has approved a multi-billion international airport near the famed site of Machu Picchu.
Work has already begun on the new facility, which is intended to bring tourists much closer to the ancient archaeological site. Bulldozers have begun to clear millions of tons of earth for the project, which will be located in Chinchero, a picturesque Inca town.

‘Game Of Thrones’ Tourism Growing Even As Show Ends Forbes
Right now the Earth has just about reached peak Game of Thrones. After eight seasons and 72 episodes filmed in amazing locations in Ireland, Spain, Iceland and Croatia, the HBO series featuring conflict, sex and dragons ended Sunday, May 19, 2019.
For better or worse, Game of Thrones travel mania shows no signs of letting up. While the show may not be everyone’s cup of tea, HBO broadcasts it in 170 countries. Over 17 million people watched the premiere of this season on HBO, and millions more tuned in Sunday to find out who ends up on the Iron Throne. Then there’s the shadow audience. According to piracy monitoring firm MUSO, more than 54 million people illegally watched this season’s premiere. And lots of viewers, particularly Millennials, have a hankering to see the show’s stunning settings.

Marriott banning little shampoo bottles by 2020
It could be lights out for tiny toiletries.
Marriott International, the world’s largest hotel chain, said Wednesday it will eliminate small plastic bottles of shampoo, conditioner and bath gel from its hotel rooms worldwide by December 2020. They’ll be replaced with larger bottles or wall-mounted dispensers, depending on the hotel.
The move follows a similar announcement last month by IHG, which owns Holiday Inn, Kimpton and other brands. IHG said it will eliminate about 200 million tiny bottles each year by 2021. Last year, Walt Disney Co. said it would replace small plastic shampoo bottles at its resorts and on its cruise ships. Many smaller companies, like the five Soneva Resorts in Thailand and the Maldives, have also ditched plastic bottles.
Marriott has more than 7,000 hotels in 131 countries under 30 brands, ranging from SpringHill Suites and Residence Inn to Sheraton and Ritz-Carlton. It says it will be eliminating about 500 million small bottles each year, or 1.7 million pounds of plastic.
Marriott has wanted to get rid of small bottles for years, President and CEO Arne Sorenson said. There are just too many of them, he said, and they’re difficult to recycle because of the time it takes to clean them out.
But it took a lot of work to design tamper-resistant large bottles and get suppliers on board. High-end hotels, in particular, needed to have bottles that still felt luxurious, he said.
“There were a lot of technical features to this that we had to get right,” he said.
Rival Hyatt Hotels Corp. is going through a similar process now. The company says it’s been testing amenity dispensers in some rooms for the last year.
Bethesda, Maryland-based Marriott started replacing small bottles early last year at some North American brands, including Courtyard and Fairfield hotels. About 1,000 of those now feature larger bottles or pump dispensers that are hooked to the shower wall.
Denise Naguib, Marriott’s vice president of sustainability and supplier diversity, said Marriott got a positive response from guest surveys. Many were relieved because the larger bottles let them use as much or as little shampoo as they want.
“More and more people have a general consciousness of it,” she said. “They don’t want to be leaving half-empty bottles.”
Naguib said most Marriott hotels will eliminate small bottles by July 1, 2020. Luxury brands will get rid of them by the end of 2020. Lower-priced brands will have dispensers or bottles that are tethered to the shower wall. Luxury brands will have untethered bottles. The bottles hold the equivalent of 10 to 12 small bottles, and all are tamper resistant.
The larger bottles will still be plastic, and Marriott still plans to replace them — not just refill them — when they run low. But Naguib said the larger bottles are easier to recycle than smaller ones.
Environmental groups are applauding the moves.
“Plastic pollution is an urgent global crisis and the time is now to think ‘reusable’ instead of ‘disposable,’” said Dianna Cohen, co-founder and CEO of the Berkeley, California-based Plastic Pollution Coalition.
Soon, hotels may not have a choice. Lawmakers in California are considering banning hotels from using small shampoo bottles in 2023, while the European Union is banning a wide range of single-use plastic items, like cutlery and plates, by 2021.
Sorenson said he expects some complaints, like Marriott heard last year when it banned plastic straws and stirrers. Many people like collecting hotel shampoo bottles, he said. His own mother used to have a drawer full of soap she took from hotels.
“Human nature is what it is and we resist change,” he said. “But people understand that this is so much better.”

beaches holidays
Beach holidays
Palm-fringed sands, sparkling aquamarine seas, and a foot-high stack of the latest blockbusters: you simply can’t beat the perfect beach holiday. Thankfully, our planet is brimming with thousands of blissful beach destinations, from the tropical delights of the Caribbean, Mauritius and the Maldives, to the crystal waters, secret coves and chic beach clubs of the Cote d’Azur, the Greek islands and the Balearics.
If you want relaxing and effortless holidays, look no further than a luxurious beach resort: pad barefoot through secluded Maldives coves, swim with turtles in the Caribbean, or just kick back with a cocktail on a silky-sanded Thailand beach.
Naturally, it’s worth booking with the experts who know their lavish over-water villas from their great-value summer-sun resorts – and who will help you find your very own slice of paradise.
Start planning your holiday...
Luckily for us, the perfect beach holiday is now accessible at any time of the year. In Europe, bag the best of the Mediterranean sunshine on the glorious Cote d’Azur, the Basque coast or Greek islands any time from May until well into September and October.https://www.gowormy.com/
Come autumn, it’s worth making like a swallow and flying south for winter, perhaps flocking to South-East Asia and the movie star beaches of Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia which come into their prime in the dry season between November and April.
But for the ultimate beach escape, head to the exotic sugar-white sands of Hawaii, Fiji and Tahiti, or the blissful Whitsunday Islands on Australia’s East Coast, whose beaches are blessed with year-round good looks.
25 of the world’s best beaches
From frozen sands to idyllic coves, these are the world’s best beaches – where you can cavort with penguins, swim with turtles... or just do nothing at all
1. Grumari Beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Where urban Rio gets wild
Ipanema and Copacabana grab the headlines, but this bay of talc-fine sand, washed by bottle green waves and backed by rainforested mountains, is where locals go to sunbathe, surf and beach-shack-snack.https://www.gowormy.com/
It’s in a nature reserve beyond the urban sprawl, so take a taxi from Jardim Oceânico Metro, or book a half day surf-and-sightseeing tour.
2. Ras Mkumbuu, Pemba, Tanzania
Tropical idyll above and below water
You’ll find a crumbling 14th century mosque hidden between the palms as you stroll Ras Mkumbuu’s white sands, and you can dive with psychedelic shoals on the wrecks and reefs submerged in its Indian Ocean waters. Few foreign visitors make it beyond neighbouring island Zanzibar, so Pemba feels like a total escape.https://www.gowormy.com/
Leave the beach to find vervet monkeys and flying foxes in the Ngezi jungles, and see turtles hatching in the sand on the desert isle of Misali.
3. Voidokilia Beach, Peloponnese, Greece
Ancient port with natural perfection
It’s an uncannily perfect, omega-shaped beach of white sand and clear sapphire water. Once the port of ancient Pylos, it’s no secret, so arrive early in summer (there’s nowhere to buy supplies so bring them with you).
Take walking shoes, too, to hike up to the ruined castle for extraordinary views of the beach and adjacent bird-filled Gialova lagoon.

Zaria Forman
Artist, Zaria Forman, daughter of Rena Bass Forman, was born on the 29th of October 1982 in Massachusetts, United States of America. Zaria’s art work has always been inspired by her mother Rena, and her landscape photography. Rena became greatly fascinated by the cold Arctic in 2001, which further inspired Zaria’s art as well. Zaria’s landscapes mainly consist of water images; she creates them with the use of pastels and great attention to detail. Zaria has travelled all over the world to create these powerful works of art, to places such as; Antarctica, Hawaii, the Maldives, Greenland, Nosara, Svalbard and Israel. The purpose of her work is to promote the recognition of the planets issue of global warming and rising sea levels and she does this through her features in magazines such as Juxtapoz, the Huffington Post, Smithsonian and the National Geographic. She also featured on ‘Good Day New York’, Fox News and ABC7 Eyewitness News, however probably her most impressive opportunity she was given to project her views through displaying her work to a large crowd and all over social media was her TED Talk. I personally found it very inspiring to hear her story and learn how she creates her artwork through the process of travelling to countries and continents struggling with global warming, then taking thousands of photographs of the landscape, meanwhile learning from her own experience and from the locals as to how global warming is negatively effecting the environment and the planet as a whole, before travelling home to her studio where she recreates the images she saw through memory and the help of her photographs to create a stunningly powerful image that takes about 200 hours to create as all of her pieces of art work are large scale.
I love the power that her drawings bring, not only because they are large scale works of art and so accurately detailed but also because the message they deliver is so important for the preservation of the health of the planet. Water is such a powerful aspect of nature as not only is it what feeds and nurtures the earth but it cannot be controlled and this can sometimes be very scary. The melting ice glaciers in the Arctic may be the cause for the whole of the Maldives to be underwater in the near future and Zaria’s work so beautifully but immensely captures this worry.
Rena Bass Forman, Zaria’s mother held many expeditions around the globe which is part of what made Zaria’s life so special and the artist she is today for she was allowed to travel with her. Unfortunately in 2012, Rena was supposed to lead an expedition to Greenland but sadly passed away soon before she and Zaria were due to leave as she suffered from a brain tumour. Zaria promised to her mother that she would lead the ‘Chasing the Light’ expedition to Greenland and so she did. Zaria took many artists along with her and saw some amazing but shocking scenes of the effect of global warming and used the images she took to create her most spectacular pieces yet. Zaria scattered her mothers’ ashes amongst the melting ice during the expedition as she believed this was where she belonged, surrounded by a beautiful landscape.
My favourite pastel drawing of Zaria’s is from her Antarctica collection, a piece named ‘Deception Island’. The reason for ‘Deception Island’ being my favourite piece of hers is because she has captured such a large section of the landscape in her image however, still managed to include every single intricate detail to make the image so life like. This fine detail is common in all of Zaria’s work which is why it could be said that she is a realist artist, but the reason that I find this piece from Antarctica so special is for it was the first image I saw of hers and I truly believed that it was a photograph. Every ding in the ice is perfectly in place and even reflected in the running water below. The image is so crisp and pure, really giving the viewer a feel for what it was like to be there in Antarctica. The rest of this collection is very powerful also as they all are so defined and show how so much of the ice up north is melting.
The most powerful images though, in telling the tale of extreme global warming and rising sea levels is two pieces from the Greenland collection. The pieces are named ‘Greenland no.60’ and ‘Greenland no.68’. They both really show how the ice is melting so quickly and from Zaria’s words, ‘She could see the ice sweating under the heat of the sun’. Greenland is Zaria’s biggest collection of art work as she believes it is so important for her to show the world what global warming is doing and how it is occurring so rapidly.
Zaria’s main focus on rising sea levels began when she visited the Maldives in 2013, the lowest lying country in the world. It is believed that the whole of the Maldives could be totally underwater by 2020 if the polar melt continues at the rate it is going. Zaria uses this Maldives collection also as a big part of her attempt to raise awareness of the rapid climate change around the globe, and especially places like the Maldives, Antarctica and Greenland.
After this trip, she took another in 2015 to Hawaii; this was supposed to be a holiday but of course, soon she became inspired and ended up creating three beautiful pastel drawings out of it. These drawings were not made with the intention to bring about awareness for and change in climate but purely to celebrate the beauty of the country. The drawings do in some aspects portray rough seas and I like this because it reflects the power of the ocean. Although it is beautiful it is also dangerous, mysterious and unpredictable, which is what reflects such great power and strength of water and as water and ice is Zaria’s focus in art this is what also makes the drawings powerful and strong. The drawings from the Hawaiian collection are also very light in colour, she mainly uses white and light blues which could be a reflection of the Hawaiian lifestyle that is fun, relaxed and happy. When Zaria visited Hawaii she believed that this was the lifestyle that she would like to live one day, so when creating these pieces of work, she may have had this bright lifestyle in mind, even though she was recreating a scene that consisted of rough violent seas.
Zaria has done a few pastel drawing also of storms as well which really emphasises her interest in the power of nature. This is the reason that I chose to look at Zaria Forman for my study on power as she not only creates beautiful pieces that are powerful but also as I also share an interest in the power of nature. Zaria is very inspiring to many people through her publicity online, through Ted talks and magazines such as the national geographic. She really appeals to those who love nature but I think that her work is so great and strong that it should be publicised even more which would also hopefully increase a raise in awareness of the polar melt and the damage that it is doing to countries all over the globe. I am going to continue my study of the power of water and nature by educating my self further and writing another essay about artists other than Zaria who have the aim to achieve greater things than just recognition of their art and themselves but to aid the health of the earth by how the control of climate change effects sea levels.
