Yea they know all the rules and details of contracts for staff and bots, for as much as the staff is not allowed to interact with them they are also not allowed to interact with staff.

Obviously there are situations in which that rule does not apply, like for instance, only hypotheticly, a fire... then all rules are lifted to ensure the safety of everyone cough mostly just the extreamly wealthy customers, secondly the staff. The bots can be easily replaced by newer modles so they are not prioritized cough

So yea if they knew that Y/N is part of the staff they would understand why they keep a distance and either leave them alone or do their best to cover up that they know eachother, depending on how far along their relstionship is. But Y/N doesn't know that, they do not fully trust Sun and Moon to not rat them out or say/do something incriminating, so they try to keep it a secret from them.

I have a few ideas how the reveal could go... maby ill actually go full on "accidently undercover" mode and make multiple non canon scenarios about how they find out

Just the idea that Orion and Megatronus ended up starting the war when they were both teenagers.

Since my last Jaune prediction went so well...

I lowkey want the Rusted Knight to just... Talk like a jaded, tired adult. Like how Ozpin or Ironwood would say "Ruby Rose." Or "Miss Belladonna." Just to show how far he's fallen distance and time changes relationships.

We already see it in e5 and e6. He addreses them more formally and in e6 he starts acting more as a guide than a leader. Like the Rusted Knight knows his age and that he is inherently more experienced than "Team RWBY." Like thats not vomit boy, thats a 30-40something old man who has already guided kids through this hellscape. And it ended terribly. He trusted and got too familiar. I don't think he's going to make that same "mistake" again.

Furthermore, we've already seen characters starting to think like Ironwood. Who is to say if the Rusted Knight hasn't already embraced that ideology?

“Virgil loses his memories of joining the core sides” fic EXCEPT that after he loses his memories, Virgil doesn’t say anything or let on that he lost them because from his perspective he woke up and the Core sides were just being nice to him for once, and Hell if he isn’t taking full advantage of it. He doesn’t say anything lest bringing it up will make the kindness and gentleness and understanding end, so it takes a while for the rest of them to realize somethings off

What if Eclipse, in one of your scenarios where he took Lunar somewhere to kill him, didn’t immediately leave the room, and stayed long enough for Monty to tell him he was bluffing about giving him the Star? 🦇

Eclipse stays long enough to hear Monty scream to wait and, by then, whatever machine he's put Lunar into to kill him is already on. Eclipse, having a momentary panic over killing his little brother for nothing, tries to stop the machine.

If Lunar's in the compactor, Eclipse goes into it and practically throws Lunar out before it begins, instead breaking himself in place of Lunar. Lunar's leg gets crushed by the machine because he was rather haphazardly tossed out and Monty eventually comes to get him and holds him while he promises he'll fix Eclipse and Sun.

If Lunar's in the maintenance tube, Eclipse smashes the glass after hearing Monty scream to wait and yanks the machine off Lunar after it takes Lunar's eyes out, which makes the machine focus on Eclipse instead of Lunar. Lunar is still strapped to the table unable to see or leave or get help until Monty comes. He has to hear his big brother screaming and getting torn apart by the maintenance machine until Monty comes and turns it off.
