I know this categorisation is all over the place but I’m cackling that I’ve apparently read the same number of comics where Jason appears as Red Hood as I have comics containing Stacy from the GCPD, Dylan Battles (I love you Dylan), Ramsey Robinson (really hitting the Manhunter list here), and the Christopher Smith Peacemaker (aka the one from Blue Beetle).
Similar numbers of civilian appearances from Damian too.

Crawlin’ back to you
Pairing: Darkish Peacemaker x reader, Christopher Smith x reader
Description: Porn without plot. Peacemaker fucks - that is the plot. Just a smutty drabble I wrote to get out of this writing slump.
Word count: 655 words
Warning: 18+, Peacemaker being a shit dude, some ass play, this takes place after ep 1.
Tumblr media
Chris didn't know what it was. It definitely wasn't a woman, the creature was well, confusing. And when Chris sat on the road with his beloved Eagly beside him, he realized he was hard. Very hard. After months of being in a hospital bed - his body mistook the adrenaline from the fight for an erection. He needed relief - fast.
And so he went back to the bar where he followed Harcourt and met that woman or whatever the dead creature was. He was a bit careful this time - he wasn't looking for just a woman this time. He wanted to make sure that the woman he would go home with was indeed human. As he looked around the almost empty place, his eyes landed on you. And that was how he found you - sitting alone in the corner.
Stretching and shrugging his shoulders in preparation, he made his way toward you and took a seat in front of you. Chris had always been a cocky bastard, and when others pointed out his toxicity, he always shrugged it as his confidence and their insecurity. Because who wouldn’t want him, right?
You sighed, suppressing an eye roll as you schooled your glass, ignoring the bulky white man sitting across you. You were really not in the mood for whatever bullshit this guy was going to offer.
“Hey, I -”
You spoke, cutting off his introduction. Yes, you came to this stupid place to get laid - but after being catcalled by multiple men - your aim shifted to finishing the drink and just going home to call it a day. “You know, usually when people sit alone, they wanna be just left alone.”
You looked up at him, gazing into his eyes as you delegated. “Can you go?” You arched a brow and raised your hand pointing away from the table indicating him to leave. God, you wished he would leave without creating a scene.
“Thank you!” you chirped delightedly as he stood up because you honestly didn't think he would listen. But soon your expression changed when he turned around again.
⁓⁓⁓
“Thank you!” you moaned as Chris bounced you on his cock - his hands holding your hips so tightly that you were sure it would scar for days but you were too out of it to even notice - on the verge of your third orgasm.
“Hmm yes,” He hummed, “You're such a good girl. Letting me fuck you and so grateful.”
Chris complimented, but you were out of it to even comprehend that he was saying something, one of his hands leaving your hip to squeeze your breast in his palm - his finger pinching your nipple as he pulled your straddled body downwards with your bud and placed his mouth on your ignored breast - sucking harshly. The hand on your hip loosened as his thumb gently rubbed over your untouched puckered hole.
You hissed as his finger made its way inside your empty hole without any warning, your cunt clenching his dick like a glove and he groaned against your chest. You came. Four times, you think. And after the fifth orgasm, you were squirting, and as you opened your mouth to plead with him to stop - Chris immediately sensed this and freed his hand from your breast to insert two fingers inside your mouth and silence your cries of pleasure. You were thankful for his fingers because the sound that would have come out of you would have been so desperate. You were desperate and all you wanted was more of him. Or were you going to beg him to stop? You couldn’t remember. All you could feel was Chris and how he played with your body like you were his favorite instrument.
That night, the only sound that could be heard in the room were your moans as he fucked your quivering holes and of course, your gratitude as you whispered thank yous over and over again.

What are the recommended works of literature by the coquette community?
well im glad u asked here are some books NOT on coquette booktok (and one that is)
u have to read lolita by nabokov thats what kickstarted the subculture a difficult but beautiful read nabokov is a true word smith and theres only one other author who crafts imagery on his level
and that author is TONI MORRISON. if you want a book on female friendships, isolation, magical realism and truly unhinged female characters read sula. this is my favorite book of alllll time truly nothing comes close at all the titular character is so interesting is blunt and sensual and odd just like her best friend nel and this is a book i have to read to truly experience
if you loved lolita and want a story similar but about black girls read the bluest eye. this has two major TWs of csa and rape but toni does an amazing job at unpacking generational trauma, cruelty, colorism and desirability and how that effects young black girls esp dark skin black girls. i recommend it to non black coquettes all the time bc some (a lot) of them need to learn some empathy for their black sisters
bonkour tristesse is a quick summer read written by an actual 17 year old in the 1960s about a young girl living a bohemian life with her father until he behins dating her deceased mothers best friend and and she does anything she can to stop it. i read this in a day it was so fun and the author being a teen when she wrote it gives the main character and interesting voice
the moth diaries which i just finished like 4-5 hrs ago is a sapphic gothic novel set in a boarding and day school focusing on the boarding students and their isolated existence its really good def a psychological thriller and you’re left unsure what is real and what is the unnammed narrators psychosis. you can feel her slowly losing her sanity on the pages
stolen by lucy christopher is an older YA novel abt a young girl kidnapped by an older handsome man who she develops stockholm syndrome for. its told with the framing device of a letter its all in past tense and its set in the australian desert so lots of tension here
a book i just started but im already finding interesting in innocents by cathy cootes about a young australian girl who traps her teacher in a relationship and u are nottttt supposed to like this girl but ur intrigued by her shes very demented LOL
audition by ryu murakami is what the infamous movie is based on iykyk if not its about a man who holds “auditions” for the perfect girlfriend and instead gets a psychotic young woman
la batarde by violette leduc is a 1960s autobiography about a woman who reflects on how being born out of wedlock tainted the rest of her life
little birds and delta of venus by anais nin are a series of erotic short stories she wrote for a dollar a page on 1940s france for legal reasons i recommend this to ppl 18+
their eyes were watching god is an absolutely stunning take on black girlhood and womanhood set in early 1900s written in the black floridian dialect at the time it does so well at preserving that culture and showing the trials of being a black woman and its a very romantic and lush book one of my favs
o caledonia which is a gothic scottish book set in the 1940s it opens with the death of the main character and we follow the journey it takes her to get there and it’s supremely haunting
the blacker the berry another tale of black girlhood this time in the northern american stares in the early 1900s very insightful tale of a young woman dealing with love and coming of age as a dark skin woman
the lover the (mostly) true auto biography by maurgarite duras about her time in saigon as a poor french teen and the complexities of relationship with an older vietnamese man as well as her complicated interactions with her family & (sexual) feelings for her best friend
flowers in the attic a classic gothic tale about a young woman who is forced to live in the attic of her familys large estate with her 3 siblings and its as bad as u think it is
we have always lived in the castle is a gothic mystery about the 3 surviving blackwoods and the incident 6 years prior that isolated them from the town
emma by jane austen is a classic truly we all know it we all love it and even i enjoyed it and im a perpetual reader of doom and gloom
lady chatterlys lover is one of the most notorious victims of britans whole obscenity thing and its about a relationship between an upperclass woman and a working class man
wuthering heights is another gothic classic i highly suggest reading
and these are (some of) the more underrated books ive seen in my p much 10 years of being here the coquette literature canon is always expanding and growing
and fuck sylvia plath 🫶🏽

Home Is Wherever You Are P2
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x Reader
With a very heavy emphasis on platonic!Christopher Smith/Peacemaker
Tumblr media
Part 1, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, Part 7
Adrian Chase Masterlist
Prompt: You take Adrian, Gut, and Chris school shopping. It might be harder to keep the timeline in tact than you originally thought.
Warnings: mentions of/implied child abuse, panic, meltdown, crying, divorce, mentions of August Smith, cannon typical Peacemaker violence and language, homophobia
A/N: I’ve decided to start with biweekly updates! I’m post on Saturday and Wednesday. I’ll also be posting on my new AO3 adriansglasses. I’ve actually added all of my old work there as well. Hope you guys enjoy!
“You’re the most attractive person I’ve seen in my entire life.” Adrian smiles at you.
“Shut up. No, I’m not.” You blush hiding your face from your boyfriend.
“Don’t hide.” He pushes your hands away from your face. “Please don’t hide your pretty face. It’s like the prettiest face I’ve ever seen and even if it wasn’t- which would be totally absurd like have you even seen yourself? You’re so hot- anyway more to the point. Your personality is so attractive to me that you’re automatically that much hotter. That’s just math babe. Do two wrongs make a right?” You laugh at his comparison. To someone else that may not make sense, but to many people Adrian never made sense. To you, he always made perfect sense.
“You’re too nice to me.” You say smiling at him.
“Well you’re the only one who’s nice to me sometimes period and your pain in the ass loves you very much.” He kisses you.
“I never said you were a pain in the ass!” You laugh. He gives you a look.
“Okay, I may have said it once or twice, but I didn’t mean it. I was just teasing you.” You kiss him on the cheek as he holds you close.
“It’s okay. I know I’m annoying and hard to deal with sometimes.” You turn his face to look directly in your eyes so he knows you’re serious.
“Not to me.”
September 1st, 1994
You woke up to the sound of the chunky alarm clock on the nightstand. You could hear somebody cooking downstairs. You used the bathroom and made your way to the kitchen to find Diane making breakfast.
“Morning! I’m running a little later than usual this morning, so all I could really manage was toast and eggs. Hope that’s okay.” She gave you a sympathetic smile.
“That’s more than okay. I usually skip breakfast half the time anyway.” You admit.
“You shouldn’t do that. Adrian’s always trying to skip breakfast. He doesn’t like most breakfast foods. I’ve been trying to make sure he eats more of them.” You have to bite back a comment about how his future self is still just as annoyed by the concept. You think back to all his rants about how breakfast doesn’t make sense because it’s foods you can only eat in the morning. He was always annoyed that he couldn’t order pancakes at dinner time or a burger for breakfast unless he was in a diner. It just didn’t make sense to him. ‘What?! Suddenly diners don’t have to follow the rules?! It’s all just a bullshit societal construct!’ You could hear his voice now.
“You could have called me down to help.” You say as the food sizzles in the pan.
“You were sleeping. You had a long day yesterday. I need your help with something while I’m at work anyway.” She says, turning to take the toast out of the toaster.
“What can I do for you?” You ask without debate. She’s helped you a lot and she is Adrian’s mom after all. You never thought you’d get to meet her outside of an ouija board. It’s the least you can do in your current situation.
“I have an envelope in my room for you with back to school money in it. It’s mostly just tip money I’ve been saving up from the restaurant. If you could bring the boys into town to get school clothes that would be wonderful. Adrian needs a little bit of everything. He just went through a big growth spirt. Dorian mostly needs new sneakers, but he should get a pair of jeans and maybe a couple shirts. There’s enough money in there to get a few things for Chris because God knows his father won’t do it. There should also be a little leftover if you want to get anything for yourself.” She says, beating the eggs.
“For me?” You question.
“You showed up with no clothes. You can have some of my old clothes, but I doubt you have the style of a divorced mom with two and a half kids. You should get one or two things you actually like.” She laughs.
“No, Diane I- I couldn’t-“
“Yes, you can and you will. This is basically just payment for the nannying gig.”
You smile at her. “Okay, fine. Thank you. I really appreciate it.”
After cooking breakfast and saying goodbye to the boys, Diane was off to the office for the day. She was a secretary at a nearby law firm. Waitressing was only her second job to help pay the bills after her husband left for another man.
“Dorian, do you know where Adrian’s shoes are?” You ask as you chase Adrian around the living room, trying to get him ready to leave. He had so much energy. You couldn’t say you were surprised.
“That’s not my name.” He sat there with his face in his gameboy, barley giving you the time of day. He was just radiating 12 year old angst. Honestly you couldn’t blame him. He was 12, Chris was 13, and they were both about to enter 7th grade. That’s hard enough on its own. It’s probably a lot harder when your mom is asking you to help look after your 3 year old brother because your dad just left because he’s gay. It’s 1994 in Evergreen, Washington and his best friend’s dad is the biggest homophobe in the country. None of this must be easy on him.
“What do you wanna be called?” You ask. He tears his eyes away from his gameboy to give you a look. It’s almost like nobody’s ever asked him or cared for his opinion.
“Gut.” He answers.
“Yeah that’s a much cooler name. My dad says Dorian is a pansy name.” Chris says, continuing to channel surf.
“Christopher Smith that is not nice and will not be tolerated when I’m around. Understand?” You know you can’t tell him his dad is wrong. You know if he challenges his dad now he might not make it back alive, so you hold your tongue for now.
“You can’t tell me what to do.” He huffs.
“Actually, as your babysitter, I can.” You turn to Gut. “Okay Gut, where’s your brother’s shoes?” You try again.
“By the door, under the bench.” He informs you.
“Thank you.” You smile, bringing Adrian to sit on the bench, so you can put on his shoes. There’s two pairs under the bench. You lift them up for him to choose between. One pair has dinosaurs on them and the other pair lights up. He very excitedly points at the light up ones. You can’t get him to sit still long enough to put on the shoes, so eventually you inevitably drop one.
“Motherfucker!” Adrian exclaims in his loud toddler voice.
“Adrian!” You say in shock. You want to laugh because this is so him, but you don’t wanna be blamed for this one. He’s only 3. He giggles at your reaction of the forbidden word.
“Motherfucker!” He says it again in a fit of giggles.
“Buddy, you can’t say that. That’s a grownup word. If you say it too many times you have to go to work and pay taxes.” You try to persuade him against the word.
“What’s taxes?” He asks.
“Taxes are what grown ups have to pay to people. They give a lot of money that you don’t have, so you shouldn’t say that word. Also not paying is a crime. I don’t wanna pay taxes, so I’m not gonna say it.” You try to bargain with him using toddler logic.
“But Dor and Chris say it!” He objects.
“Well, Dor and Chris are gonna have to pay taxes soon.” Adrian begins to cry. “Why are you crying, buddy?” You wipe his tears.
“I’m scawred!” He cries.
“Of what?” You ask.
“Taxes!” He cries.
“It’s okay. You didn’t say it enough times to have to pay taxes.” You pull his small, hiccuping body into your arms, not quite sure what to do. You feel kinda bad. Parenting is fucking hard. They say never parent your boyfriend, but you were taking it to a whole new level. You don’t think this is what they meant.
Finally you had wrangled the boys together and you were on your way to the store. You had to walk because Diane had the car at work and you obviously didn’t have one, but the store wasn’t far.
“Why do we have to walk? This is fucking stupid.” Chris complained.
“Chris, knock it off. We’re at the repeating age.” You gesture to Adrian, who was jumping around the cracks on the sidewalk. Luckily he wasn’t paying attention.
“Hey, Adrian!” Chris grabs his attention.
“Chris!” Adrian runs up to him, on his wobbly little legs.
“Don’t you fucking dare-“ The words came out of your mouth before you even had the chance to realize it.
Gut laughs. “You’re the one who actually said fuck in front of him.”
“Fuck!” Adrian repeats.
“No no no no no!” You try to stop him.
“Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!” He says as he hops up and down with each fuck.
“No! I said…duck! I said duck!” Gut and Chris break into a fit of laugher.
“Rey’s lying, Adrian.” Gut tells him. Adrian stops giggling and his entire body language changes. He starts to cry, trying to walk away. His little legs don’t carry him very far. You turn to Gut and Chris.
“Please just stop! I just wanna get through the day. Would it kill you to just be nicer to him?!” You don’t mean to lose your temper with the boys, but you know this is only the start to a lifetime of bullying and provoking Adrian. You sigh, dropping your attitude. They’re all just kids. “Stay here for a minute.” You turn in Adrian’s direction and start racing after him.
You try to scoop his little body into your arms, but he screams at you. “NO! NO!” Okay. He’s not great with words, but he totally has no down. You decide to give him some space. Even if he’s not his adult self yet, he’s still a person. You know how easily overwhelmed he gets as an adult. You can’t imagine how upset his 3 year old self is.
“Buddy, I’m really sorry.” You apologize. Your heart breaks. You hate knowing you made him cry.
“P-p-pweas don’t weave!” He begs you not to leave through his tears.
“Hey…what’s going on? Why do you think I’m gonna leave?” You question him.
“Daddy lied to m-mommy and now he’s not here!” Adrian cries. Oh fuck. Of course he couldn’t fully grasp that his father had an affair and that’s why he’s gone.
“Adrian, listen to me. I will never leave you for something like that. I’m sorry I lied to you. Lying isn’t nice, but I’m here for you. I will always be there for you. Even if I’m not here with you, right next to you, I promise I will always love you.” You try to keep yourself from crying now. You can’t help, but think of your version of Adrian at home without you. You try to keep your tears in and stay strong for the younger version of the man you love right in front of you. They feel like different people, but they’re not. This is Adrian and you need to help him.
“Lying isn’t nice!” Adrian repeats, sniffling as his tears slow.
“You’re right. It’s not. Do you want a hug or do you not want to be touched?” You ask.
“Hug!” He cries, crashing into your open arms. You hold his little body as he cries.
“Even if you can’t see me, I’ll always be with you. I love you.” Everything about this is so fucked up. You shouldn’t even be here. You’re messing with Adrian’s life. You’re messing with Chris’ life. Everything about this feels so wrong, but when he’s crying in your arms like this all you can think about is the restless nights when you’d cuddle with your boyfriend and he’d shed a tear or two about his childhood. You knew how much it effected him even now and you just wanted to protect him from all that was to come and heal all that had already happened, but you knew you couldn’t do that. Time had to run its course.
After you helped baby Adrian collect himself you joined Chris and Gut back on the sidewalk and continued your way to the store. Town was small, so the walk wasn’t long, but luckily you had a new Walmart nearby. In your day this Walmart was shitty, but in 1994 it was new. You let Gut and Chris walk around on their own with the promise they’d meet you in the men’s clothing section. You were going to take Adrian to the toddler section. Toddler clothes were cheaper and he was growing fast, so you picked out a couple different outfits for him. You grabbed some basic pants and socks that would match everything and let him pick his own shirts. He settled on a shirt with a spaceship on it that said ‘I’m so cute it’s out of this world’. He also picked a Barney shirt and an Aladdin shirt after making a comment on how both Jasmin AND Aladdin were pretty. You then brought him to your side of the clothing department to grab a shirt or two you liked before meeting up with the boys. After settling on some basic shirts, you were on your way to meet Chris and Gut when you passed the electronic isle and you caught Chris staring at a tape recorder. Even from a distance you could tell he was about to cry as he put it back on the shelf. Gut was nowhere to be seen, probably waiting in the men’s isle like was supposed to. He usually listened better.
“Hey, Chris…”
“I’m not crying!” He wipes his eyes.
“I know.” You give him a smile.
“I just got dust in my eye. They need to clean these shelves better.” He crossed his arms across his chest. You crouched down in front of Adrian.
“Hey, Ade. Why don’t you go pick out a movie for us to watch tonight from the clearance bin?” He wiggled excitedly before taking off towards the bin of cheaper VHS tapes.
“Stay where I can see you!” You called after him. He did just as you said and stayed in your line of vision as you talked to Chris more privately.
“Level with me. I know you weren’t crying, but if you had been crying…hypothetically of course…you could tell me anything. You know that, right?” You weren’t sure if you were breaking the timeline, but at this point you didn’t care. Chris deserved to be able to trust someone in his life.
“I wasn’t crying.” Chris tried to walk away from you, but you caught his arm in your hand.
“Chris, wait-“ He hissed as you made contact with his shoulder. Your jaw drops and you can almost feel tears in your eyes. You pulled up his sleeve to reveal small, circular burn marks. They were burns left behind from where his father had put out cigarettes in his arm.
“Stop starring at me like I’m a freak and just let me go.” He pushes you off of him and he walks away. You knew this job would be hard, but it’s a lot worse than you expected. You had no idea it would be this awful constant moral battle between letting these kids get hurt and keeping the timeline in tact. After realizing you were all alone and you could still see Adrian, but he wasn’t paying attention to you, you started to cry. After taking a deep breath you wiped your tears and picked up the tape recorder, putting the shirts for yourself on the shelf. Fuck it. Chris deserved something his dad couldn’t ruin. So what if you had to wear Diane’s maternity clothes and any clothes her husband left behind? You knew how much he loved music. He deserved this. Timeline be damned he deserved one fucking thing in his life untouched by his father. You hid it in the cart under some of Adrian’s clothes before heading to him digging around in the clearance vhs section.
“Rey!” He called for you as soon as he saw you.
“Adrian!” You called back, pretending to be happy. “Did you pick one?” You ask.
“This one!” He says, excitedly shoving the tape in your hands. You couldn’t help, but smile a real genuine smile. In your hands was a copy of the movie Adrian told you was his favorite growing up; The Brave Little Toaster.
“Have you seen this one?” You ask.
“No!” He smiles, hardly able to stand still.
“You’re gonna love it.” You smile, placing it in the cart. You take his hand and you both head to the men’s section to get clothes for Gut and Chris. Gut picked out a Green Day shirt, while Chris picked out a Nirvana shirt. You were happy when Chris didn’t pick up the Green Day shirt because you knew having that might get him in trouble in the next 10 years when they come out with American Idiot. His dad’s gonna hate that. These were of course considered hot new bands and most of their most famous songs weren’t even out yet. After picking out a couple more clothing items you headed to checkout. You were thankful Adrian was being such a distraction because Chris didn’t even see you put the tape recorder in the bag. With the remaining money, you took a bus to Fennel Fields for dinner where you told Diane you’d meet her on her night shift.
“Mommy!” Adrian yelled running up to her as soon walked through the door. It was nice to see him with his mother.
After grabbing a pizza you headed home. When you got there you pulled Chris aside and gave him the tape recorder.
“Happy birthday.” You said handing him the Walmart bag.
“It’s not my birthday.” He gives you a strange look.
“I know. Just think of it as an advance on your birthday gift.” You smile as he starts to open it.
“Is this mine?” He asks in shock. You nod. “Why did you do this?” He asks.
“Because you deserve something that’s yours that you enjoy.” You say as you watch his eyes well up with tears again.
“I’m not crying.” He says again.
“I know. But even if you were…it’s okay…” He stares at you for a moment before bringing you into a wordless hug. You stand there for a moment, shocked. You never expected this from him, but you wrap your arms around him anyway.
“Thank you.”
“Of course. You deserve it.” You remind him. You know it won’t change the timeline much, but this time, you hope it does something.
After tucking Adrian in, you leave Gut and Chris to play video games until Diane gets home. You head to your room, flipping onto your bed with a sigh. You just hope you did the right thing. You open your phone and head to your voicemails. This has almost become routine.
“Hey babe, it’s me. I’m just calling because I know you had a bad day today and I was thinking…” You close your eyes, as the voicemail plays and you begin to cry. You’ll see him again one day. You have to. You didn’t know how or when, but you had to. You’d figure it out. You’d make a plan.

You may have seen Anthony Boyle on your screens recently as Harry Crosby in Apple tvs 'Masters of the air' or as Kevin Maxwell in 'Tetris', but where have you probably seen him before?
Before he rose to fame in 2016, he was in an episode of 'Game of thrones' as a Bolton Guard in the episode 'The laws of gods and men'. But he doesnt stay for long as he gets his throat cut.
His rise to fame started in 2016 when he landed the role of Scorpius Malfoy in the play 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child' for which he was nominated for an Olivier and won. He went from a small local actor from Belfast to suddenly the main actor in a play that the world couldn't stop talking about. He spent three years running around in a blonde wig at the Palace theatre in London and the Lyric theatre in New York where the play is still shown to this day.
After this, he landed small roles such as David Donnely in 'Derry Girls', a comedy which is set in the town of Derry in Northern Ireland which is his home country. His friend, the writter of the show, approached him and asked him if he wanted to be in the show and he accepted, being in it for two episodes.
In 2018, he was cast as Jack Argyle in the BBC drama 'Ordeal by Innocence' which was written by Agatha Christie. A show about a family of adopted children who must work out who killed their mother, unfortunately, the blame is landed on Anthony Boyle's character.
In the same year, he played Liam Farrell in the drama series 'Come home' where he starred along side Christopher Eccleston. A mother unexpectedly abandons her husband and three children and they try to figure out what may have caused this.
In the year after, he played the role of Geoffrey Bache Smith in the biopic 'Tolkien' about the life of JRR Tolkien. Boyle plays one of thr actors closest friends through their time at school and during the war.
In 2020, he was in 'The plot against American' featuring Wynona Ryder. Based on the 2004 book by the same name, the story follows a Jewish working class family set in an alternate America where they watch popularist Charles Lindbergh, an aviator-hero and xenophobe, become President.
In 2021, he played Brian Wood in the true story of 'Danny Boy', a soldier who is accused of war crimes in Iraq.
2022 was a quiet year for Boyle as covid had stopped the production of most tv shows and movies but in 2023, Boyle starred along side Taron Egerton and Toby Jones as Kevin Maxwell in the biopic 'Tetris' which revolves around the game Tetris, its origins and how it became one of the most famous video games in history.
However, in 2024, Boyle seems to have won the lottery with four projects coming out this year already. The first, 'Masters of the air' where he plays an air sick navigator in world war two with Austin Butler. The series which is made by Apple tv is set to be released over two months from January 26th to March 15th.
And if you're not already sick of seeing his face, his new show (surprise surprise, on Apple tv) is set to release on March 15th. Boyle plays the famous actor John Wilkes Booth in 'Manhunt' who assasinated President Lincoln in 1865 and follows the days after this as the nation slides to a halt in the search for the actor.
He is then set to play Jack Barak in the Disney plus show 'Shardlake' which is set on the book by the same name. Set in the reign of King Henry VIII in the 16th century, Boyle plays former Cromwell henchman turned law clerk and investigator for the main character.
Boyle is also set to feature in the New York times best seller book adaptation say nothing which is about the struggles and troubkes in northern ireland which comes out this summer.
These are just some of the many tv shows, movies and theatre shows that Anthony Boyle has and will star in. When he was just starting out acting, he said that he would take any role that fit his description (white male with dark brown hair) meaning he was in alot of embarassing but funny stuff. One where he dresses up as a mummy for halloween and must escape a group of killer clowns, one where he plays a man who is inlove with a pillow and one where he plays a convict on the run in Northern Ireland and has to wear a dress and a wig to escape authorities. However, if you lived in Belfast in the late 2000s, you could probably see him lurking behind big Tescos with a plastic bag on his head.
It seems that Boyle is turning out to be a very promising actor with lots of work lined up. Infact, he is set to record a new show which is set in Scotland. He said on the British talk show 'Sunday Brunch' that he is looking forward to it and has to talk in a Scottish accent.

Doctor Who: The Ultimate Speedrun Marathon - Series 1 (2005)
Eccleston as the 9th Doctor seems to be a big fan favorite, including among my Whovian friends, so I was especially excited to start his era. Needless to say, I was very impressed! This series really brought Doctor Who out of its ‘80s era funk and into the modern age, so its importance deserves the praise, which I’m about to give in truckloads.
Tumblr media
General Thoughts
Right out the gate, Christopher Eccleston was the perfect actor to take on the role! From what I’d heard of the 9th Doctor before watching this series, I assumed he’d be very serious, edgy, and overall just a grimdark take on Doctor Who. The early 2000s was ripe with franchises and reboots like that, so I was pleasantly surprised to see just how three-dimensional he was! I was mainly familiar with Eccleston from the 2010 TV movie Lennon Naked, which he was fucking awful in, so to see him so perfectly embody the Doctor gave me whiplash ngl. He does have darkness in him, which comes out in relation to his Time War PTSD and his hatred of the Daleks, but he’s also really lively and snarky in most moments. Such a great character all around! If Paul McGann makes you fall in love with the Doctor’s personality, Eccleston makes you understand it.
Tumblr media
I assume the tragic backstory 9 mentions throughout this series (regarding the Time War, the destruction of Gallifrey, and him being the last of the Time Lords) was a retcon made for this series in particular, since the 8th Doctor was on his way back to Gallifrey at the beginning of the ‘96 TV movie. Maybe he was just visiting the rubble idk. I could be wrong, but I include this just to mention that I assume lore retcons will probably be rampant from here forward, so I’m cool with that.
Tumblr media
Moving onto this Doctor’s companion, there’s a few. The main one we follow is 19 year old Rose Tyler, played by Billie Piper. I was familiar with Piper as Brona/Lily in Penny Dreadful, which she was great in, so it was cool to see her again in a very different role. Rose starts out really wayward and flat, but over the course of the series and her adventures with the Doctor, she grows more involved with the world and becomes happier as a person. It’s a cool development that really cuts to the core of what the Doctor represents as a traveler and explorer of all things exciting and hopeful. Dr. Grace Holloway gives her a run for her money as my favorite companion so far, but Rose is really interesting and overall just a great human protagonist for us to tag along with.
Tumblr media
Along with her, there’s also Mickey (Ricky?) Smith, played by Noel Clarke, and Captain Jack Harkness, played by John Barrowman. With Mickey, I assumed he’d just be a throwaway character, as a teenage boyfriend Rose leaves behind for good to move onto greater things, but he comes back again and again, with a lot of development that really surprised me! He grows from a pretty flat and lame guy into a character with a lot of agency and intelligence. His angst over Rose leaving him for time/space adventures was also really sad :( I felt bad for him honestly, but he grows beyond his need for Rose and comes into his own right
Tumblr media
Captain Jack was really fun too. Reminded me a lot of Firefly. I expected him to be one-off character too, but he sticks around and is really fun to follow. It’s cool to have another snarky space/time adventurer around for a little bit. He’s also a bi king so that’s dope as fuck
Tumblr media
Back to the 9th Doctor himself, I really liked the parallels drawn between him and the Daleks. This might just be a coincidence, but I think the interior walls of his TARDIS look a lot like the outer shell of the Daleks. Just thought that was a cool detail.
Tumblr media
Speaking of his TARDIS in general, the more industrial look contrasts with the 7th & 8th Doctor’s warm homely TARDIS. The spindly concrete pillars and the shiny metal walls/floor are really striking. It’s like a modern-art exhibit. It’s both very 2000s and very classic looking.
Tumblr media
Favorite Episodes
Aliens of London
World War 3
The Empty Child
The Doctor Dances
Dalek
The End of The World
Favorite Moments
“You would make a good Dalek”….. omg chills
Rose being there for her father’s death was really sad and moving. That whole episode was great, but that last moment was especially effective
“Kill yourself.” lol
Charles Dickens having his own sort of Scrooge-esque arc was really nice. A bit sad knowing that he would die a year after the episode is set, but still bittersweet and nice.
The Doctor’s joy after realizing everyone finally gets to walk away okay in episode 10 was great! It’s an amazingly emotional moment for someone who’s gone through so much loss and grief, and Eccleston plays it perfectly. Everyone lives!!!
Rose getting super glowy TARDIS powers was cool as hell for her development into a hero in her own right, as well as being dope as fuck overall. I’m gonna assume/headcanon that the “Heart of the TARDIS” that appears in the finale is the same as the Eye of Harmony that appears in the TV movie.
That final regeneration scene… So cool! I’ll miss Eccleston, but he made the most of his time as the 9th Doctor. The way David Tennant also makes his appearance uniquely his was super funny. Just kinda commenting on his new teeth and then shrugging it off.
Alright, that’s it for Series 1, as well as the end of Eccleston’s run as the 9th Doctor. It was a fun ride and an amazing start to this fresh new beginning to the franchise, but I suppose it’s time to move on with him. Now, onto Series 2, with David Tennant taking over as the 10th Doctor.

Total Votes: 22,087 + 13,398 = 35,485
Times I realized I was not in-depth enough with my checking of wrestlers and forgot at least one which I only found out because I heard an old wrestler was being accused of murder and the name didn't sound familiar so I checked and it turns out he isn't included but have to remind myself that if no one mentioned him being missing from round 1, he probably isn't the most beloved anyway: once, thank god
Beloved By Gender:
We started with a split of 81.7% men to 18.3% women, which moved to 75% men to 25% women after the first round. After the second round of voting, our percentages are:

Famous People Who Love Radiohead
Danielle Radcliffe: I was mainly listening to Radiohead for Harry in this film. Somebody did ask me yesterday if there was one album that could be Harry’s soundtrack during this movie. I think it would be Ok Computer by Radiohead, which I think tells you all you need to know about his character
Matt Smith: That’s it. That’s what I want when I go to the theatre, when I’m in a play, is them, and that experience that I get from them. I admire the musicianship, I admire the soul that goes into it, and the execution and the work, the preparation. Everything is done right, I think, and done with good intention and soul and heart and good spirit. They are a lesson to us all.
Brad Pitt: What was Brad Pitt talking about all the time? You won’t believe me, but no matter what the question was about, he always ended up talking about Radiohead. He seemed to be obsessed with the band and told that during the filming of “The Fight Club” he spent all his time listening to Radiohead, particularly Ok Computer, which is his favorite album. He argued that his movie wasn’t art, that contemporary art was about Thom Yorke because, according to him, the Radiohead´s singer was so important for his generation as Kafka and Beckett... He was completely captured by his devotion for Thom Yorke.
Christopher Nolan: I spent an afternoon talking about movies, memory and fragmented narrative with the 30-year old director at his apartment near the LACMA while he played Radiohead's Kid A on a boom box...Nolan wanted Paranoid Android to play over the credits of Memento, but the rights were too much so instead he uses Treefingers in the film.
Aaron Paul: When I was in London I followed Radiohead around - I went to both their concerts at the O2. Then I took the train to Paris, met up with my friend Vida and saw them at there as well. Seeing Radiohead in Paris is pretty magical.
Edward Norton: I'm friends with the guys in Radiohead, And Johnny Greenwood...And he and Thom (Yorke) had been playing a lot of weird ambient stuff at the time and so, amazingly,
Ellen Page: They became my first sincere love in music. Before that, I was jumping on my bed and listening to Aqua.
Elijah Wood: Elijah Wood was starstruck when he met Thom Yorke. The 'Lord of the Rings' star - who owns his own record label - says the most overwhelming moment of his life was he met the Radiohead singer, because he has been such a huge influence on him.
Stephen Colbert: He can’t be influenced by the agendas of politicians and public officials, but if you’re [Radiohead] he will gladly roll over for you.
Woody Harrelson: I’ve really become obsessed with Radiohead. In fact, the other day, there was a concert with Thom Yorke and Flea. So, I went — Flea’s a good buddy of mine. Great show! Phenomenal music. Just incredible, of course!
Tobey Maguire: I really respect them. I've been to a couple of their shows and it's pretty great. They've been really consistent in making great music and I really feel like they are true artists and put all of themselves in their music, so it will be interesting to hang out with them.

You Belong with Me: Part 2
Adrian Chase/Vigilante x Reader (Smut)
Tumblr media
Summary: Christopher Smith can have some pretty dumb ideas sometimes regarding dating and romance. For his latest ploy, he's trying to get your attention and drags Adrian Chase into playing the ultimate wingman. (Crossposted to AO3)
Rating: Explicit 18+
Author Note: Afab reader with non-binary pronouns. Part two of three on an alternate take on the Fake Dating trope. I haven't posted much in the last few weeks, so enjoy two days of posting in a row from me. 💜🖤
CW: About the same as part one. Canon-typical behavior, light smut including dry humping, intense kissing, hair pulling, groping, nipple play. A bit of angst near the end of the chapter, mainly some self doubt but nothing major.
Word Count: 3,867
Tumblr media
When Adrian went over to Chris’ trailer the next day, he intended to tell him he was breaking the whole thing off with you. There had to be better ways to get your attention. Chris managed to talk him out of it, insisting Adrian was making this harder than it needed to be.
“Look, if Y/N wants sex, why not have sex?” Chris asked him. “You’ve done meaningless hookups before and so has she. Why would this one be any different?”
Adrian couldn’t bring himself to admit this was far from meaningless to him at this point, and didn’t really want to either, least of all to Peacemaker. He didn’t want his best friend to hate him, so he decided on what his next best course of action was. He decided this would be to just put you off as much as possible until Chris worked his magic on you.
This turned out to be a lot harder than Adrian anticipated.
For starters, he didn’t realize dating you meant you’d become so affectionate towards him. Since everyone knew about the date and that it went well, there was no reason to hide your interest in him. You weren’t what anyone would ever call clingy, you just found your way into his bubble a lot more often. You’d touch him on the arm or on the back when you passed by him, which made him feel tingly all over. You’d hug him at least once either during the day or at the end of work, which he would happily return. Adrian was surprised but found himself really enjoying it.
Then there was the day you randomly stood up from your desk and loudly announced you were going to the restroom. You got a few jeers from the others about it as you made your way past their desks.
“Didn’t need to know that!” Harcourt called from her office.
“What the hell’s wrong with you?” John said.
“No one’s writing a book about you, Y/N,” Chris said.
Leota and Eagly seemed unbothered, but Leota gave you a thumbs up.
Adrian had been about to add his own funny comment into the mix, but then as you passed by his desk, you fixed him with a look that froze him in place. His face turned bright red; his body felt like it was going to spontaneously combust. It was a brief look and was over within moments once you turned into the small hallway leading to the restroom. Once you were out of sight, Adrian realized he had been holding his breath, and he let it out in a rush. Since the desk he had claimed was so close to the hallway, he heard the door to the small restroom open and shut, but not lock.
Adrian’s heart raced, trying to figure out if he was reading too much into things. He had to be. People just randomly announced they were going to the restroom sometimes…right? And that look had to be an accident. Had to be. His first instinct had been to think you wanted him to follow you to the small, private space of the single person restroom. But surely that’s not what you had wanted…right?
You were in there for quite a while, far longer than you normally ever were unless you were having issues. But Adrian didn’t hear the toilet flushing or any water running, which confused him. The walls were thin and the plumbing noisy, so normally he heard those things. He was starting to get worried when he heard the restroom door open. You came back down the hall and Adrian couldn’t help but notice a slightly disappointed look on your face. You caught his eye as you were sitting back down at your desk and sent a small pout in his direction.
Adrian swallowed heavily, unable to deny how sexy you looked just then.
Still looking in his direction, you got a hopeful look on your face and mouthed the question, “maybe later?”
Suddenly, Adrian’s pants got tighter in the front and his face went red again. All he could do was shrug slightly, but that was enough to get a smile from you that made him melt.
Later on, as you were leaving HQ, you invited him over to your place that night. He declined, making up an excuse of needing to patrol, which earned him that pout again. Up close, it was even more effective, and he immediately regretted telling you no.
“How about we catch a movie this weekend then?” you suggested. “Make it our second date?”
While Adrian had planned to put off another date for as long as possible, a movie date was actually a very safe choice. He knew you didn’t like it when people took you to the theater then tried to do things with you during the movie. You actually wanted to watch the movie, not make out, so Adrian agreed to the date.
It was the start of the off season for blockbuster movies since summer was at an end. When the date night came around, the two of you decided on a low budget, independent horror movie that had done well at film festivals. The theater was a bit more crowded than expected, about one third of the way filled, but you were easily able to find two seats near the middle. The middle armrest was immediately flipped up so you could cuddle against him. Adrian draped his arm across your shoulders, both of you wiggling periodically for a little while until you were both comfortable. At one point, you rested your head on his shoulder and he found himself resting his head on yours.
The movie ended up being a lot better than you both expected, but for all the wrong reasons. It absolutely sucked as a horror movie, but it was a comedy to the two of you. Which was terrible in itself since you two were the only ones in the theater laughing. About halfway through the movie, the other patrons started shushing you two. After that, anytime something funny happened, you’d bury your face in his chest to suppress your giggles while he held you close, burying his face in your neck to suppress his own.
After the movie, you invited him in when he dropped you off and he happily accepted, temporarily forgetting why he had been hesitant to do this in the first place.
It took about the same length of time as it did before for the two of you begin a heated make out session on the couch. Adrian remembered why he was so hesitant for another date sometime after your shirt had come off again and you were in the process of removing his.
“Wait, fuck, shit,” he said, pulling himself off of you. “I f-forgot I…um…have to…”
Just like last time, you looked concerned, a worried expression on your face as you raised up on your elbows and watched him start getting dressed. This time, he had been the one to initiate and you were on your back on the couch.
“Forgot what?” you asked.
Adrian made the mistake of turning around to look at you as he was zipping his sweater and froze at the sight, swallowing heavily. You were an absolute vision; your hair tussled from his fingers pulling and gripping at it, your lips a dark rose color from him kissing and biting them, and there was a flush coloring your cheeks that clearly indicated your arousal. Your bra had gotten pulled down slightly, showing a change in color on the skin where the area around your nipples started. One of your feet was on the floor, while your other leg was up on the couch and bent at the knee. There was a pang in his groin at seeing the empty space between your legs that his body had very recently occupied.
“I..er,” Adrian stammered. “Got patrol. S-Sorry.”
While you were understanding still, Adrian could see the disappointment in your face. He quickly made his exit before he could change his mind and headed home.
Fortunately, the next weekend, Chris invited the two of you over to hang out and drink. Adrian felt a mix of emotions knowing this was part of the plan. Soon this whole thing would be over, and he wasn’t sure if that idea made him glad or sad. He didn’t get much time to think about it the night you all hung out though.
The whole evening, Adrian had tried to stay out of Chris’ way so you could get to know him better. He intended to start this by sitting in the armchair, so you’d have to sit next to Chris on the couch. You had other ideas though and sat on Adrian’s lap instead. It wasn’t until he sat on the couch next to Chris that you finally took your own seat; in the armchair Adrian had been sitting in. Luckily, Adrian was in charge of the Uber that night, so he had an excuse not to come in when taking you home first.
Over the next couple of weeks, Adrian managed to dodge going on another date, but the two of you did hang out with Chris a few more times. Those went about as well as the first one. But Adrian was finding it harder and harder to make excuses to avoid seeing you and his desire to continue doing so was rapidly slipping.
Then, one Friday night while he was on patrol, he got a text from you.
Hey, I was thinking you, me and Chris could all hang out at my place tomorrow night instead of the trailer. You game?
Adrian felt like he had rocks in his stomach. You had automatically included Chris in your plans, which meant Chris’ plan was working.
But that’s what was supposed to happen, right?
Right.
Sure, sounds good. I’ll text Peacemaker and ask if he's up for it.
No need to, I already did. I told him around 5pm and he said he has a few errands to do first, so he might be late. He’s bringing his ice chest and ice, want to bring the beer?
That worked for Adrian, and he readily agreed. Hopefully, Chris would put the moves on you tonight and get this over with.
But it became clear from the moment he arrived at your place that the night wasn’t going to be as easy on him as he’d hoped.
Since you had said Chris was probably going to be late, Adrian made sure it was almost 6pm before he got there. He really wanted Chris to get there first, but he still ended up arriving before Chris.
Then he nearly dropped the case of beer when you opened the door to let him in.
You were wearing a pair of loose shorts and a tank top, which wasn’t anything special in itself since he’d seen you in versions of those before. However, these particular shorts were shorter than any you’d ever worn around him. He would remember if you had. And the tank top was lower cut than anything he’d ever seen you wear. He would’ve remembered that, too. It almost looked like a matching set, like one you might buy to sleep in. Which, if he wasn’t too busy gawking, he might’ve recognized it as just that; a cheap and simple, but cute, sleepwear set that you probably got at the dollar store. It wasn’t lingerie by any means, but it did show your body off well.
If Adrian had been a religious man, that would’ve been a suitable time to start praying to god for strength.
Since Adrian was not religious, he started praying to Gary Gygax instead.
The god of D&D was just as good, right?
“You can put that in the living room,” you said, closing the door behind Adrian as he came in. “Chris said he’s really running late now, and we should start without him.”
Adrian nodded, taking the case of beer to the living room as instructed. He grabbed one for each of you and opened them before settling on one end of the couch. You came over to sit next to him, accepting the offered beer.
“Did Peacemaker say what he was up to?” Adrian asked. “It’s not like him to be late when there’s free beer involved.”
You chuckled and shook your head.
“Nope, just that it was taking him longer to get done than expected ,” you said as you picked up the remote. “I figure he’ll fill us in when he gets here. You know how he gets when he’s inconvenienced.”
Adrian nodded in agreement, watching you flip through one of your services to find something to watch. If there was one thing Chris hated, it was things taking longer than necessary. He was sure to go on a tangent about it.
You picked a movie that the both of you had seen but liked enough to pay attention to. After setting the remote down, you scooted close to him like you did at the movie theater. He found himself draping his arm across your shoulders again and you both quietly started watching the movie.
A few minutes in, Adrian really started to notice how good you smelled. Granted, you always smelled good to him, but being so close to you allowed him to really enjoy it. It was a vague mix of your shampoo, soap, and the detergent you washed your clothes in, with your own natural smell just underneath it. It all combined together into something new that he absolutely loved. He found himself tilting his face closer to you, taking it in.
Adrian didn’t realize how close he was until his nose brushed against your earlobe. The moment washed over him then. He leaned in further and down, letting his lips start to trail along your neck. You tilted your head to the side, away from him, so he had better access. He heard you softly suck in a breath at the feeling and lost some of his sense.
He set his beer down on the end table way rougher than he meant to, causing some of it to slosh out of the bottle. Immediately he brought his hand around to take ahold of you by the hair and pull your head further to the side. As Adrian’s lips latched onto the side of your neck, sucking, and biting at your skin, the arm around your shoulders slipped down behind your back, his hand coming to a rest on your waist. He roughly pulled at your body to turn you towards him, making your stretch one leg across his lap. You tucked your other leg behind him between him and the couch, so he was sitting between your legs. One of your arms went around him, your hand coming up to rest on the back of his neck. Your free hand gripped at the front of his t shirt, pulling him to you.
With your head tilted back in just the position he wanted it in, Adrian let his hand come down from your hair to rest on your knee. His lips grazed over the front of your throat as he trailed his hand up the back of your leg to slip under your shorts. A low groan left his throat as his hand made contact with the bare skin of your ass and he realized you weren’t wearing underwear.
You took this opportunity to throw yourself backwards on the couch, pulling him with you so he was on top of you. He quickly arranged himself on his knees between your legs, your ass resting on his thighs, and he leaned down to press his lips to yours in a searing kiss. It was passionate and sloppy, the result of several sessions of buildup that ended in barely satisfactory masturbation for both parties. His tongue ran over your teeth, and you softly nipped at it before sucking him further into your mouth.
Without realizing he was doing it, Adrian snapped his hips forward, roughly grinding his jean covered erection into you. You made a sound that was a cross between a gasp and a moan. This was the closest you’d come to moaning while messing around with him. He did it again, harder and with purpose this time. Adrian got what he wanted, your head tossed back at the motion and a deep moan left your throat.
Adrian pulled back from you at that point just enough to pull your tank top off. He had another revelation then when he realized you weren’t wearing a bra either. He was frantic as he helped you tug his own shirt off before taking one of your tits into his hand. He held himself up over you with his weight on his elbow and dipped his head down to take your nipple into his mouth. Alternating between sucking and softly biting at it, Adrian soon had you moaning and gripping at the back of his head again. The warm feeling on his scalp that you tugging and pulling at his hair caused sent an electric current down his spine and straight to his dick. His hips rolled forward, grinding roughly against your clothed entrance, and making you moan the loudest yet. You returned the movement with your own hips, sweeping them upwards in such a way Adrian swore he felt along the full length of his shaft. He groaned deeply into your breast, his body shuddering.
Suddenly, he pulled himself off of you up onto his knees. Adrian’s hands came to rest on your hips, grasping the waistband of your shorts and looking at you for confirmation. The grin that lit up your face made his heart race even faster and you rapidly nodded as you raised your hips up off the couch to make it easier for him to pull them off.
A car door slammed right outside your house.
Adrian panicked.
He quickly jumped off the couch, swooped your shirt off the floor and tossed it at you.
“Quick, get dressed,” he said as you started to sit up with a baffled expression on your face. “I think Chris just got here.”
“Oh, uh,” you said, watching Adrian start to pull on his shirt. “Chris isn’t actually coming.”
Adrian stopped with his shirt halfway over his head, then slowly pulled it down the rest of the way to look at you.
“What do you mean?” he asked, confused.
You sighed, sitting up halfway on the couch, propped up on one elbow, and looked up at him.
“I lied, I didn’t actually invite him,” you said. “You haven’t wanted to spend time together, but I noticed you were fine with hanging out if Chris was with us. So, I thought it’d be an easy way to get you over here so we could be alone.” You smiled at him suggestively. “I was hoping to make you forget I said he was coming over, then I was going to tell you afterwards. Guess I failed on that part.”
Adrian stared at you, wide eyed and mouth hanging open. You hadn’t put your shirt back on yet, so his eyes wandered down of their own accord. With the way you were laying, your chest was arched up slightly, your tits on full display for him. His eyes traveled lower, seeing your shorts had ridden up even further on your legs and were pulled tight to your form, looking like little more than skimpy underwear.
His first instinct was to jump back on you. His heart, gut AND dick were all in agreement over this, but his head won out. He saw it as part of his unwavering loyalty to his best friend to not get anymore attached to you than he already was.
“I- um,” he stammered, then swallowed heavily and forced himself to look at the ground. “I should patrol then.”
A deep sigh came from the direction of the couch and Adrian heard the springs squeak. He dared a glance up at you. You were now sitting upright with your feet on the floor, and we’re in the process of turning your shirt right side out to put it back on.
There were no words to describe how Adrian’s stomach felt right now. It sort of felt like getting shot, only it was all internal. Both of you were quiet as he finished getting dressed and you went to your bedroom for a moment, coming back with a robe he regretfully watched you put on over the tank top and shorts. It was a long robe, down to your knees, so now you were hidden from him again.
Adrian was about to leave when you finally spoke.
“Can I ask you a question?” you said, voice soft but without anger or any of the other negative emotions that would’ve made Adrian flinch.”
“Of course,” he said, turning back to where you had sat back down on the couch.
You were quiet for a moment, mouth slightly open as if you were still trying to figure out how to words things.
“Am I…doing something wrong?” you finally asked.
Adrian wasn’t sure what you meant, so he didn’t know what to say. This must have shown on his face because you elaborated.
“I’m just really confused because it’s obvious you really want me,” you said, and got up to where you were on your knees on the couch but sitting back on your heels. “And it’s obvious I want you too, right?”
You paused, looking at him questioningly. Adrian nodded rapidly. There was no doubt in his mind what you wanted.
“Okay, that’s as I thought,” you said, nodding yourself. “I’ve been trying to figure out what’s going on to make you keep running out like this. I know you’re not a blushing virgin. It would be fine if you were, but you’re not shy about your hookups as Vigilante. You brag about them all the time, right?”
You paused and Adrian nodded again in confirmation. had to give it to you, your logic skills were impeccable. You were one of the smartest people he knew and figured that’s why you worked for the government.
At the moment though, those brains of yours were taking his pants get a bit tighter again.
“The only thing it could be then is something I’m doing,” you said, concluding your last thoughts. “Which it’s totally fine if you don’t like something I’m doing. Just tell me and I’ll switch things up-“
“Nononono!” Adrian exclaimed, finally realizing what you were saying. “Fuck no, you are doing absolutely everything fucking right. My god, Y/N, you have NO idea how badly I fucking want you right now.”
“Then take me,” you said, looking into his eyes.
It took everything Adrian had not to surge forward.
“I-I can’t,” he hissed through his teeth sweating now from how hard he was and getting no relief.
The two of you stared at each other for a moment, your expression a little frustrated, but still mostly confused.
“Why?” you finally said. “What’s going on with you?”
As soon as the question left those beautiful lips of yours, Adrian crumbled and told you everything.

For the past two years, my partner and I have spent October watching horror movies. Some are films we know, others are new to us. Each year, we try to theme the movies; 2021 had Undead October (all vampires, zombies, and ghosts), and 2022 had Otherworldly October (all threats from space or other planes of reality).
2023’s theme? Kingtober - all movies based on stories by Stephen King.
We try to watch a movie everyday, but sometimes life gets in the way. The last two years, we’ve ended up with around 21 movies watched. We’re just shy of three weeks in, and up to 14 movies.
Our reviews so far:
(Note: these reviews are our opinions. As always, your mileage and tastes may vary.)
Movie 1: Carrie (1976). Stephen King’s first published novel, the first film adaptation of his work, and one of the best. The direction and cinematography is fantastic, and while maybe not scary, it tells a tragic tale of a girl victimized on all sides. Highly recommended. A.
Movie 2: The Shining (1980). I’m a fan of the book, and… I have notes. I’m with King on this one - Kubrick did not make a good adaptation. He has a great sense of framing shots, but no sense of humanity. Jack’s slide into madness feels more like a facade cracking. C at best.
(Yeah, that one’s going to be controversial. I know it’s a very famous film, and Kubrick is a director with vision, but I don’t feel like he gets people well. Also knowing what he did to Shelley Duvall makes it hard to watch her scenes.)
Movie 3: Doctor Sleep (2019). An intriguing sequel to The Shining, and you definitely need to have seen that film to appreciate the visuals in this one. Better characters, but a far more complex plot that doesn’t quite fire on all cylinders. Decent use of Chekov’s boxes, though. A high B-.
Movie 4: Silver Bullet (1985). A passable popcorn werewolf movie. Good story (Cycle of the Werewolf is a good novella) marred by some rough acting, uneven pacing, and some really bad effects. I’m guessing they didn’t have Rick Baker werewolf money. A solid C+, and very watchable.
Movie 5: Cat’s Eye (1985). A perfectly serviceable anthology with two thrillers based on short stories, and one new kid’s fantasy/horror story. Really only marred by horrible synth music. It would get a B, but Drew Barrymore gets flipped off by a troll, so it gets an automatic A+.
Movie 6: The Dead Zone (1983). One of the best King adaptations so far, easily up there with Carrie. David Cronenberg is a fantastic director, and he and Christopher Walken tell Johnny Smith’s tragic story of unwanted psychic visions with craft and grace. This one gets a solid A.
Movie 7: Creepshow (1982). George Romero and Stephen King’s homage to old EC horror comics. It’s intentionally campy and wonderfully stylish, with vivid colors and dark comedy throughout. Good use of animated interludes, which really drives home the comic book feel. A fun B+.
Movie 8: Christine (1983). The tale of a boy and his evil, possessed, regenerating murder car. John Carpenter does a great job adapting the book to film, and has some fantastic shots, the best of which is Christine in flames chasing a bully down like the devil itself. Another solid A.
Movie 9: Children of the Corn (1984). Wow, this movie was bad. Poor pacing, terrible effects, high-school-level acting, multiple characters making dumb decisions, and odd exposition kids ruin what is otherwise a neat concept. Such a letdown after the last two films. D-.
Movie 10: It (2017). This one was solid, a very good adaptation. It did a good job of ratcheting up the terror, making you want to see how It was going to mess with the members of the Losers Club, and had good character arcs too. Let’s hope Part 2 holds up as well. This one gets an A.
Movie 11: It Part 2 (2019). So, yeah, the follow-up was just about as good as the first one. Excellent pacing with moments to breathe and laugh between the horrors, and a surprising amount to say about trauma and healing. Maybe a bit overlong, but still good. B+.
Movie 12: Graveyard Shift (1990). A movie about an old textile mill with one hell of a rat problem. This one is both over- and under-acted at the same time, and the lead has zero presence or charisma. Mildly entertaining, though, in a campy way. Still better than Children of the Corn. C-.
Movie 13: 1408 (2007). One skeptical writer vs. the most evil room ever. Purely psychological/paranormal horror, and excellently written and acted. Lots of fake outs and mean-spirited twists in this smallest of haunted houses. Among the best we’ve watched so far, and an easy A.
