Okay so you are the spookiest person I know and it’s Halloween and I know, you asked for conspiracy theories but I need to share a ghost thing because there was a development and it’s only gotten weirder with age??? Ok so I was in early high school/late middle and my mom was picking me up after theater and sports practice so it must have been like 2010s October but before Halloween? So it was around sunset but it was light enough that she took a side road that cut through the local Civil War battlefield right next to the river. So it’s almost always flooded and there were never cars. So we were driving and we hit this one spot next to an old house that miraculously still stood after the war and I was staring out the window so I saw the tent first: just like a gray sheet draped over a line between two trees. And sitting in front of a campfire next to it were four men all in a real faded blue uniform. Three of them were young guys but one was like older with white hair and beard just all sitting in front of the fire. Only reason I remember the beard is because I made eye contact with him. But the car was going like 50 mph so it was like real quick. I didn’t think anything was weird because Civil War was the only reason anyone ever came to the town so I just thought it was a bunch of reenactors. But the next time we went past was the next day and there was no one. So I looked it up later and there were no reenactments that week. Especially since the battle itself was in December so it was two months early. But I was going through old photos earlier today and field trips there were like yearly: the trees to make that tent? They weren’t there. In ANY of the photos. And these were old trees, like thin but tall so they couldn’t have been torn down/grown in that time. But I never questioned it? Happy Halloween to me I guess? Help????
holy shit???

Myths answer timeless questions and serve as a compass for each generation. Legends are told to explain the world and our mortal experience by providing hope, heroes and direction. Unlike fairy tales, each are reflections of our reality. They are warnings and promises, laments as celebrations. In my 2018 Myths & Legends series, conceptualized with exhibition partner Joshua Coffy @giftprolific, I reinvented mythical themes and characters with salvaged, found-objects. Much like the legends I portrayed- the materials themselves provide a unique perspective of our disposable past and the enlightened transformation we are capable of. Here We Are, the Hereafter, 2017 assemblage, 24" x 12" x 5" (Sold) The Midrash explains that in the Garden of Eden after Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge, she gave its fruit to all of the animals to eat. Only the chol (phoenix) abstained from eating it. So, death was decreed upon all animals except the phoenix, which was granted eternal life. Some say that a phoenix lives a thousand years, at the end of which a fire issues forth from its nest and burns it up. All that remains is an egg, from which the phoenix grows new limbs and lives again The Phoenix is a symbol of good luck, harmony, peace, balance, and prosperity. This magical creature represents fire and passion – the flames of true inspiration. It represents the continuation of life in flames of change #hereafter #hoylebird #phoenix #phoenixfromtheflames #rebirth #fireandpassion #risefromtheasshes #myth #mythology #legend #gardenofeden #assemblage #assemblageart #foundobjectart #diannehoffmanart #bird #birdcarcaus #honoringanimalsinart #bringingobjectstolife #reliquiry #mythicalcreatures #birdegg #whichcomesfirst #storyteller #clockcase #forbiddenfruit #flamesofchange https://www.instagram.com/p/Cac00YAJXE6/?utm_medium=tumblr
