This is for my fellow autistic people here. I think you may appreciate it.
The core of the way they try to derive what country, city, people, ethnic group, etc., is the happiest is the Cantrill Question.
"Please imagine a ladder with steps numbered from 0 at the bottom to 10 at the top. The top of the ladder represents the best possible life for you, and the bottom of the ladder represents the worst possible life for you. On which step of the ladder would you say you personally feel you stand at this time?"
I would have no idea how to answer that. It’s too vague, to unclear, too ambiguous. I literally could not answer the question. I read the question and it’s just NT bullshit. In my head I hear the wah-wah-wah noise they use for the teacher in the peanuts cartoons.

Hi, it's me again, the previous anon. 👋 I agree that what is throwing me off too, is the pretty abrupt silence. Well, to be fair, not complete silence, bc they did post the tiny snippets of content, but compared to the Nordic tour the silence was deafening of course. Then again, it's six months since NT and there have probably been *many* discussions between them since then about how they should act publicly from now on. And like you said, if Jere now performed with them again, it would've meant that he would've been expected to do it every single time and then JO could never shine on their own. And this is a very pivotal moment in JO's career as well, and if they manage to make themselves a household name in Finland independently from Jere that means there's probably a higher chance they will perform here more often and as a finnish fan, I of course selfishly want that. 😅
When leaving the Saturday's gig I also overheard several people talking how they were expecting see Käärijä there, and while that's understandable, and I was for sure hoping that too, it also hypocritically angered me and made me realise that JO have to separate themselves from Jere, at least a bit and for a while, when they are hopefully establishing their own career (in Finland especially, but elsewhere too).
That being said, all the aforementioned is me being my rational self, but I can't deny that my irrational self is a bit sad about this. It's a weird situation when there is obviously no "divorce", JO and Bojan kept mentioning and referencing Jere all the time, Jere was featured in some content, we know they hung out a lot, Häärijä was on stage etc. But we just didn't get witness it like we used to. They are obviously closer than ever, but further away from us fans than ever before and my emotions are all over the place, because I am both happy and sad about this.
And I hope people will still find the inspiration to write fanfics and do fanart, because I really don't want lose that too.
Anyway, sorry for the rant. I hope you and me and all the sad bojere bitches will feel better soon and/or get another little bojere crumb. 🩷
Anon, let's be best friends because your words seriously help 🫂 I'm feeling less lonely in this now (and I'm sure feeling lonely standing outside in a rain behind a closed window curtains, where inside I can vaguely see the shadows of Jere and Bojan happily sharing the homecooked meal).
Maybe I've been fangirling a bit too much. Maybe I should step back and find some new hobby like gardening or something that doesn't involve people. (and maybe screw Jere a bit too because his vacation is definitelly not an excuse when he was posting ass all january)

Solar storms hit more locally than expected: Current instrument network too sparse, says study
A new study shows that there is greater local variation in the impact of solar storms on Earth than previously estimated. Researchers show that the effects can vary widely even over distances as small as 100 kilometers. The findings are published in Scientific Reports.
Local changes in the magnetic environment have so far remained largely unexplored due to the sparse magnetometer array in the main observing area. Today, solar storms, or geomagnetic storms, are recorded on average by magnetometers spaced about 400 km apart.
Solar storm effects are caused by fast solar wind streams, which cause large electric currents to flow through the ionosphere of the Earth's auroral region, but the behavior of these currents during storms is still not fully understood. Solar storms also appear as auroras.
Researchers from the Sodankylä Geophysical Observatory (SGO) and the Ionospheric Physics Group at the University of Oulu, Finland studied the local magnetic field perturbations in the auroral region during space storms using historical data.
Large regional differences in the effects of solar storms
The new study looked at data from a strong solar storm in December 1977 from all 32 stations of the then Scandinavian Magnetometer Array (SMA) network in the Nordic countries, which is denser than the current network, and largely unexplored.
Studying the data was laborious, because in 1977, changes in the Earth's magnetic field were seen as fluctuations recorded by magnetometers on film strips. There were almost 40 kilometers of untouched, small film strips from nearly 50 years ago.
It was hand-photographed frame by frame over several dozen meters for the new study, and the images were digitized. Using the digitized values and modern magnetic data, clear regional differences in solar storm intensity were found.
"Usually today, we look at the whole of the Earth's auroral region as a single entity. However, we used more than 30 instruments to map the effects of a single solar storm from the Arctic Ocean to the Bothnian Sea," says Otto Kärhä, a doctoral researcher at the University of Oulu who also photographed much of the old films. He will present the new findings at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) San Fransisco Fall Meeting 2023 in December.
The rarity of large geomagnetic storms limits their study, and local effects have historically left largely unstudied. The largest solar storm in recorded history was Carrington in 1859. Descriptions at the time showed the sun brightening and being dazzling even to closed eyes. The Carrington solar storm caused sparks on telegraph lines and fires. Today, the consequences of a magnetic storm of this magnitude would be devastating for power grids and telecommunications links, including satellites.
In light of new research, local variations in a Carrington-class solar storm could be as high as 150 nT (nanotesla)/10 km. The difference is comparable to a small breeze in Muonio and a magnetic whirlwind 140 km away in Sodankylä.
"When such a solar storm hits, too sparse magnetometer network could lead to underestimation of local magnetic disturbances and underestimation of the preparedness for them," says Professor Eija Tanskanen, Director of SGO.
Large solar storm possible in the near future: Denser network to warn of local effects
Scientists around the world are fairly unanimous that in the near future, a historically large solar storm may hit the Earth.
"The variability in experts' estimates of its impact stems from the fact that the Earth's geomagnetic environment is still poorly understood, and solar storms cause very variable effects to the auroral currents. The current Intermagnet network has too few magnetometers in the polar region, most commonly at intervals of about 200–400 km, when it would be better to have them at 100 km intervals," says Tanskanen. The magnetometers are hosted by various research institutes and observatories.
Historical data from the new study revealed magnetic field structures in the auroral belt that cannot be observed with the current network of instruments.
"A denser magnetometer network would help to understand the complex structure of the magnetic field during solar storms. We could provide local warning of solar storm movements, and better safeguard infrastructure vulnerable to magnetic disturbances. Air traffic, for example, could also be warned more regionally about strong magnetic clouds and storms," Tanskanen suggests.

(Stonesford ask in honour of Jordan's birthday)
TIL that a teenaged Jordan & John played together in a winning England U19 game vs Finland (England U19 - Finland U19, Nov 13, 2012 - International Friendlies - Match sheet | Transfermarkt) with Miles Storey who is the current star player/striker of my non-league Tier 6 team. My mind is in disarray I didn't realise this connection existed!!! not to mention that the stadium this game was played at was in Kidderminster which is not far from where I grew up
Feels so strange to think that two world-famous England legends & seniors, the #1 goalie & defender for the whole nation, once shared a dressing room with my hometown game-winner who I go to watch every couple months in our tiny stadium to cheer on with all the local yokels. like they've been coworkers and fellow performers. perhaps a baby Stonesy once smiled at or shoulder-patted Miles? or Picks shouted at him? i'm weak i just want to go back in time and see that game now (have looked for it online and there's just a few short grainy clips :()
sounds obvious to say but for me finding this out brings it home that our Lions exist as real people who've worked at their game and come up with grassroots players if that makes sense. and that Stonesford for all their talent have also been supremely lucky and in another timeline are easily playing non-league/parttime like Miles and my squad (or even no longer playing at all perish the thought)
still it's always worth giving flowers to Stonesford. They were clearly NT calibre and a hardworking successful duo out of the gate and wasted no time getting to the top, they both deserve their success
Yes!!!! That game is where this fic kicks off. The fascinating thing about the whole scenario is definitely the fact that these two went off on different trajectories but eventually made their way back to where they were in 2012, against all odds. I say against all odds because neither of them were particularly touted. John was more-so, sure, but before he played under pep he was very… hit or miss, and everyone knew it. Striking brilliance when he got it right, but a total disaster when he got it wrong.
The U19 manager for this game was interviewed and the way he talks about this team is so interesting. He mentions giving Miles a call up, says he has a chance to prove himself, but he repeatedly caveats the game and the team by saying all his star players have been pinched for the U21s or the men’s senior team. He’s like yeah this isn’t my A team. He calls them boys and children and kind of shrugs off the fact he’s been stuck with this XI. He repeatedly mentions names of players he thought would be big, who with the exception of Raheem didn’t amount to all that much comparatively. When asked what he’d do if he didn’t get the players back from the 21s and seniors, he’s like I’ll just have to rebuild again and find new talent. He specifically doesn’t say “there’s lots of talent in the lads tonight, I’m not worried” sort of thing.
The point I make is they weren’t exactly star boys. The highlights show two classic moments - Jordan coming out of goal and throwing himself dangerously at the ball, causing an ugly pile up, and John panicking a bit on the ball and almost losing possession. John and Jordan were both taken off in the 46th minute which is hardly a glowing review of them both - even Miles got longer on the pitch! Jordan was swapped with Ben Garratt, who didn’t make it beyond the u19s, and John Calum Chambers, who’s England career also fizzled out.
That they both did make it successfully to present day (relegation battles aside) is just mind blowing. For all intents and purposes their careers should’ve mirrored that of Miles and the rest of the team they played with in Finland that night. I don’t know if it’s luck or coincidence or what it is. But you’re right, it makes them so normal and relatable. They’re playing against the best players in the world but they started out not in shiny academies like Kane or being snapped up by top 5 clubs early on like Kyle Walker, but in little run down stadiums for their local clubs taking each game as they came. And now they’re where they are and I just know they’re just grateful they still get to be playing and they just so happen to get to do it together 😭😭😭

An Interesting Fact*
Around the world, everyone uses acronyms (and initialisms). Following is a quick list of examples:
• NB, NC, ND, NH, NJ, NM, NV, NY - USA • NB, NL, NS, NT, NU - Canada • NBI - Finland's National Police • The "N number" on aircraft • NATO • NAACP • NASCAR • NA • NASA • NGO
In each of the above occurrences and many others the "N" indicates
"Not really, but I'd like to think so."
* I just made up.
