But first: There's been a slight incident with Macro Cosmos' energy sector. We assure you it was a freak accident. Our inspectors are on in right now. Multiple shareholders have also pulled out of FICSIT due to ethical conflicts. But they'll manage, I'm sure. Arasaka is having a minor hardware malfunction. They're engineers assure us it's an easy fix. Just... don't overuse augmentations in the meantime. Halcyon is currently dealing with a few... pension negotiations. But I assure you the commonfolk will be calmed soon... Now, I have to go double-check my safe-room. Happy toiling!

People are wrong enough about the gender stats in modern fanfiction (hetero ships are very popular on literally every ficsite besides ao3, where they're just popular instead) but acting like all fandom was slash in like, 2009 is pushing it from "you are bad at stats but understandably so" to "stop talking until you have actually looked at any data at all ever"

Hanging around AO3 made me realize how shit our main Russian ficsite is in terms of usability. Yall can add images to your text? You have copying from Word that doesn't fuck the formatting up?? You even have HTML footnotes that don't have to be put in manually???

"Electric trains are cool! You know what would be REALLY cool? Setting up train tracks all over the office. I'd pay money for that! Not that I have any money, and not that money is any use around here, but still. Money. Yeah. Anyway, trains!"

So, I figured out that all this time, to do tier 3 and 4 in Satisfactory I had to disassemble and reorganize A LOT of what I already did.
I had and still have to take my time.
Is it more work? Yeah in ways, but the way the game actively makes sure you're always doing something towards higher tiers, while also making sure you're always just doing something, and while always making sure you work are three things that honestly fucking suck
I have to take a fucking break, reorganize when and what I can, and take my fucking time.
Ficsit corp can wait for their excess material bullshit

My brain works in mysterious ways. I have a very good memory actually but not all of it is conscious memory. What I mean by that is for example, today Red mention iFixit to get my replacement cable for my vive cosmos elite headset, since the current cable I'm using is damaged.
I decided to download and reinstall Satisfactory after playing Dyson Sphere for a while. My sudden choice to play Satisfactory could easily be passed off as, because I was playing a factory game. But Satisfactory has a corporation called Ficsit. The first thing I think of when I think Satisfactory is not Ficsit. In fact I didn't even remember that was even a thing in Satisfactory, I never played it that much or paid that much attention.
But this is just one example among many. Words stick in my mind. Whether I'm conscious about it or not. And my actions throughout the day will gravitate often unintentionally towards things that I was thinking of, and more often than not I will keep realizing that choice lead me to something that was mentioned earlier that same day one way or another. I have a strange brain, but a very interesting one indeed.
When I am conscious of it, there is generally a pretentious reason that I am relating and reference things so often. But usually back then it was a combination of both and a good deal of luck that it kept happening so often. In the midst of depression any silly little thing like that is something to do that is non-destructive, and constructive in a sense even if it is potentially destructive socially. If someone was going to take their level of subtext to the max, I was going to do the same in my own way. And let my imagination fly. Allow the head canons happen with a large variety of characters.
I generally don't read books. I'm much to drawn to games and other stuff on the pc that I find it difficult to find time for it at all. I am much more engaged in interactive environments. But I do understand why people read. It is to escape. Temporarily escape their lives to let their imagination wander. Construct this imaginative world, voices for all these characters and hear them in their mind. To watch a movie that is completely inside their head. Or even plug themselves in with their favorite characters.
I was doing the same in a very half-assed way. But it gave me sense of identity. It gave me a variety of different feelings. Different ways to express thoughts and emotions that relied on my understanding of how each of them behaved. And feeling like your in a story feels so much more invigorating then the mindless sandbox of the actual world. Because every event is meant to happen, and meant to tie together, and the significant characters are always significant. And from a romantic perspective, best friends and couples in stories are very tantalizing to want to head canon.
A half-assed imaginative experience for a half-assed interaction as I was still in the process of processing and mitigating the damage from both my choices and the lingering feelings of what was going on between me and my friends. I was desperate however to make this imaginative experience a reality. I wanted to see a day when we could spend an average day having already gotten to know each other and get used to each other, playing things, chatting and doing whatever. And that future was forever barred from me. No matter how hard I imagined and how hard I hoped, things only got worse rather than better. I felt this overwhelming feeling inside. And it was so warm, and I would spend days when Red was at work just holding a pillow and savoring that feeling, thinking one day the happiness locked within would be fully released. And that was forever barred from me.
Choskey saved me. Choskey gave me new hope. New love. A new future. Try as I might to have things only be Red, and fully respect the fact that Red thinks so highly of me and treats me so well. This is what I need too. I need this social life. I need events to look forward to. I need my feelings reignited. I need to know that this train wreck of a career I had would not be the end of me. And that I would experience laughter and time with groups of people once more. That I would not be spending day after day gaming by myself forever until the day I die.
Vrchat is the best thing that's ever happened to me. And all this pain that I experienced and all the things I wished for that I lost to you, I found once again, and things are finally going my way. Overwhelmingly well, so much so that I can't even fully process how good this feels, but I feel absolutely amazing. And my heart is over the moon. And I can feel and feel and feel as much as I want and all of it is 100% returned. And it almost brings me to tears.

Toxic Waters Lite: The Characterization Of Hydromorph
I want to talk about Hydromorph as a company. On a surface level, they're the classic Corrupt Corporation with a huge facility, experimenting on things they shouldn't, et cetera. But there's a slightly more laughably evil side to them, that puts them on par with Aperture Science or FICSIT Inc. more than Weyland-Yutani. The Hydromorph branding on all their products is something I've taken directly from Portal, from the Hydromorph Anti-Corrosive Plating lining their corridors to the Hydromorph Regenerative Serum in their med-packs. There's a more implied element with the PDAs as a collectible - they're not put there arbitrarily. You'll still have to supply the company for information if you want to buy items from the upgrade station. Even in the chaos, Hydromorph is still concerned with deadlines. You need a first aid kit? Send us fifteen tablets through the pneumo-tubes first, those things are expensive! This sort of thing has been done before with great success in games like Bioshock, where the hyper-capitalist objectivist nature of Rapture is exacerbated through the need of the player to buy upgrades from the various vending machines in the levels to proceed. In the PowerPoint mockup I made, the explorable sections of the facility were plastered with visual gags on warning posters, such as "Productivity is more important than safety!" and "Please remember to finish your shift before evacuating the facility!".
More on the construction of the facility itself, a lot of my inspiration has come from swimming pools I used to visit. The grimy tiles with rubber grip-mats can be seen in most changing rooms, and the Hydromorph Anti-Corrosive Plating's closest real-life analogue is the thermosetting plastic used to build water flumes and haystack dryers. This source of inspiration is why Hydromorph, and TWL as a whole, works better with an air of unrealism over the whole thing. No actual scientific facility would have "evacuation flumes" in it, but with Hydromorph playing the role of an evil corporation that makes bad decisions, it makes more sense. Maybe you can read about an ignorant CEO that somehow missed that he was constructing a research complex, and spent the company's grant money on giant water slides. This links to another one of my favorite games, the impossibly underappreciated 2016 game called Maize. Not only did it get me into adventure games, but I can't say with a straight face that its underground facility, absurd premise and "sub bay" puzzle didn't inspire Toxic Waters Lite.

Research - Satisfactory
youtube
Satisfactory is a sci-fi resource management game which centers around the player building their own factories across a large wide open world in order to create various goods to send back to earth to be sold by the ficsit Inc. company.
The game revolves around a plethora of different resources both solid and liquid that can be refined and changed into different items that can be used yet again in different recipes of higher and higher complexity. Because of the very slow crafting system and the fact that some resources cant be acquired by hand, the player must build and use intertwining factories in order to shorten the amount of time required to complete more complex recipes.
The recipes in the game and the overall gameplay make sense and fit the theme, that being sci-fi space themed, the game takes place on a different uninhabited planet similar to earth which houses familiar materials which are used in recipes in ways that make sense with different machines often requiring even minute resources like screws. The first person element also complements the open world exploration as a part of the gameplay, power management is required and energy output can be improved by using power cells created from creatures called power slugs around the world, these creatures are usually hidden from sight and are finite so the first person viewpoint makes it more exciting for the player and because of the ways they're hidden, it also makes them more challenging to find even with tools that help locate them.
The game is very well made and has many features that often work with little to no flaw which is impressive given how much traction the game has gained considering the game is still in early access, even features like programmable routes for the trucks in the game rarely fail unless they run into rough terrain which in my opinion is fitting. Despite the early access state of the game, the factories can be made considerably large however, even with thousands of moving ingredients across conveyor belts and hundreds of machines playing animations and emitting particles the game runs pretty well, even on high settings often experiencing a loss of around 20-40 frames.
In my opinion, though this is very subjective, where the game falls short is the action element. Although the game has enemies, their AI is very predictable and while can be difficult at the start, after a few encounters becomes underwhelming. There are various enemies in the game that have different behaviours, however none of them are particularly dangerous unless the player is attacked en masse and while there are enemies that can be considered "boss" enemies, often guarding important resources, they essentially are just higher health versions of regular enemies and aren't all that much harder to defeat. I make this statement aware that the game is still in early access but I also wish that there was an element of danger to the player's factory, as far as I'm aware, there is no way in which the factory can be affected by enemies and as a game that focuses on a certain degree of realism, I feel like that should not be the case, I'm aware that certain players would disagree, however that is my personal opinion on what the game is lacking in.
Satisfactory played a major part in composing the initial idea for my game, many things including things like ore veins are an inspiration taken from satisfactory, however they do not work in the same way, for example while the veins in satisfactory are unlimited, the veins in my game have a certain capacity which regenerates at a slow rate, meaning they are technically infinite, but can be emptied if it is used many times in succession.
Overall, Satisfactory played a major role in composing the idea as it is a fantastic game, but I do hope to do things differently for my game, as the playerbase I hope to attract with it is similar to that of satisfactory, however not entirely the same.
