And after writing all day along about love & passion with such intensity, all I do at night is sleep with my limbs crawled up together in fetal position, cold in my lone bed...

"I help patients and families access their own spirituality regardless of their belief system to help them cope emotionally and maintain that connection to those things that help them cope, and are important to who they are as a whole person. I also help patients and families communicate what is important about their spirituality and religious beliefs for health care to the medical team."

Fetal movement counting which is also called kick counting is a way a mother keeps track of her unborn baby's movements by counting the number of kicks in a given time period. If you are pregnant and your baby is not moving as much as usual or takes longer to move than usual, or has stopped moving, call your doctor right away. For More Information Consult Dr. Swati Rai, 12+ years experienced Gynecologist-Obstetrician in Noda. ☎️Call: +91-8527839993

Nuchal Cord – Is the Umbilical Cord around baby’s neck
In this video, Dr. Sunil Kumar G S (Our founder and renowned Fetal Radiologist), gives information about Nuchal Cord and its effects on the unborn child.
To start with, what is  ‘nuchal cord’?
When the umbilical cord is wrapped around the  baby’s neck, it is called the NUCHAL CORD
“When a mom-to-be learns that her unborn child has an umbilical cord or nuchal cord around the neck, we can appreciate her worry” says Dr. Sunil Kumar G S. We advise them that, for the most part, there is nothing to worry about.
Cord Around The Baby’s Neck
Your kid receives the oxygen and nutrition he or she needs to grow via the umbilical cord, and it also carries away waste. It is a flexible tube that has two arteries and one vein inside of it. Wharton’s jelly coats the tube, helping to shield the blood vessels inside.
A nuchal cord can wrap around the baby’s neck in many ways, such as
An incomplete loose loop
A full single loop around the neck
A tight loop
More than a single loop
The good news is that not all nuchal cords cause complications!
An incomplete loop and a single loose loop should not be a concern. Since the position of the nuchal cord keeps changing as the baby moves inside the womb.
A tight loop or more than one loop around the baby’s neck can cause complications during delivery. In this situation, the cord can further tighten around the baby’s neck as the baby moves down the birth canal, restricting oxygen supply and leading to fetal distress and stillbirth.
If a nuchal cord is discovered during the labor, the doctor will monitor the baby’s heart rate to check for fetal distress. Sometimes, a cesarean section may be necessary if the cord is too tightly wrapped around the baby’s neck.
Observing the nuchal cord and other baby parameters is crucial during the 9th month of pregnancy scan. So do not miss your term growth scan.
Is normal delivery possible with cord around the neck?
Yes, many times a normal delivery is possible. To keep track of how things are progressing, your Gynecologist will continue to follow your growth and that of your unborn child.
Nuchal cords are surprisingly common, but they are unlikely to cause problems during pregnancy or birth. A nuchal cord is expected to be present in 20 to 30 percent of deliveries. And according to a 2018 study published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, most of the time, babies are well when one is present.
When is a nuchal cord dangerous?
During contractions, blood flow through the entangled cord may be reduced if it is wrapped around the neck or another body part. The baby’s heart rate may drop as a result when having contractions. Prior to delivery, if blood flow is entirely cut off, a birth can still occur. 12% of births involved a nuchal cord. The majority of newborns with nuchal cords have just one neck loop. Luckily, neither lower Apgar scores nor a higher risk for development issues, still birth, or other adverse outcomes were present in this group.
What happens during delivery?
It is common for the doctor to check the baby’s neck for a nuchal cord after the baby’s head is delivered because the great majority of the time we are unable to predict whether a baby will have one. The cord can typically be slipped over the baby’s head because it is slack. The doctor or midwife may clamp the cord before the baby’s shoulders are delivered if it is too tight to readily pass over the baby’s head. By doing this, the cord is prevented from separating from the placenta after the baby’s body is delivered.
So do not miss your term growth scan!
