I'll be answering all of them for A Hero's Call.

1. What was the first part of your WIP that you created?

The very first part of A Hero's Call that I created was the concept of dimension jumping in general. It was inspired by both the ghost portals from Danny Phantom and my middle school self's mighty need for crossover content from my favorite shows, and then I kind of just made a self insert to make those crossovers happen, and that self insert evolved into Kira.

2. If your story was a TV show, what would the intro song be?

So, when I was young and naive and didn't know how filmmaking worked, I wanted A Hero's Call to be a tv show. The intro song was always gonna be some sort of early 2000's rock/emo/metal song, and I almost always came back to In The End by Black Veil Brides. And honestly, I still stand by that.

3. Who are your favourite character(s) and why?

So, I love Kira, I really do, she's the main character after all. HOWEVER, my blorbos for the series are definitely Lucent and Cairn, which is really funny if you have the knowledge I do (that knowledge being that Lucent has ice powers and Cairn has fire powers). Lucent was a character I originally made to rp with some friends without having to use my already established characters, because I was weird and had stupid hangups about sharing my work, and she's kind of become my punching bag OC of the series which is how I know she's one of my favorites. I love making her go through physical and emotional torment.

Cairn is just fun for me to think about conceptually, because he's a villain that really could have chosen redemption, and he almost does at quite a few different points in his life, but ultimately he succumbs to the cycle of abuse and gives in to that darker side of himself. Also the thought of this very inhuman-looking dude having a Tumblr is SO funny to me (he is canonically VERY internet-savvy).

4. What other pieces of media could share a fan base with your WIP?

Any number of media pieces tbh, but the biggest one would probably be Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which was a HUGE inspiration for this project.

5. What has been your biggest struggle while writing your WIP?

Writing the beginning of it. I've struggled so hard with it and I can never figure out what's holding me back, which annoys me. And the more I write the more I discover that when I have all the pieces to a story that I want to tell, the writing starts flowing eventually. But with this WIP I've just had to drag those first few chapters out kicking and screaming from my brain and I can tell something is missing, but I don't know what.

6. Are there any animals in your story?

Yes, there are. There's the Shade family dog, a golden retriever named Gary (who is, in fact, just my real dog inserted into the story), and there's also Lucent's "pet" Jannik, who is a ferret-like creature called a skitnik. Emily and Pickle are ranch kids so they have a ton of animals that sometimes get mentioned, but Gary and Jannik are more central to the plot than those animals are.

7. How do your characters get around?

All the normal ways you would get around in rural Wyoming in the 2010's (cars, horses, off-road vehicles, etc). And, of course, dimension jumping.

8. What part of your WIP are you working on right now?

I'm rewriting the first few chapters (again) to try and get them ready to post on AO3 because I've been churning out fanfiction nonstop because of how much the kudos and comments go to my head, so I want to see if putting my original works on AO3 would spur me on to work on them more.

9. What aspects of your WIP do you think will draw people in?

I think that the characters and the worldbuilding will be the major draws for people, cause I have a LOT of lore and a lot of fun characters to introduce and I think it'll be fun for people to explore.

i am manifesting the urge to have you talk about your blorbos. please talk about the blorbos more please i want to learn more about them!

EEEEEE my head's kinda empty rn so i don't have anything in particular to share but here's some random lil details n tidbits abt the au that i've written down !

they all have certain characteristics that are left behind for a while after they change between hylian and dark world forms. wars' hair gets silvery in some places. briar has his facial markings. lumen's pupils glow a pale blue for a while afterward. fig has swirls and stripes marking his back that fade over time—when in the light, they have a slightly sparkly sheen to them. and legend's, of course, is pink hair (he actually loves how it looks and willingly changes to his dark world form from time to time to "dye" it)

they each Also have a special power that's unique to their forms! i want their forms to be treated more like tools than hindrances, so im giving them,,, boosts, as incentive to use them i guess. im still deciding on some of them, but i know i want wars' ferret form to be able to "see through objects" (i'll ramble about the consequences of That sometime later if people wanna know, don't wanna clog up this post w nonsense)

fig still has quite a young mind at times, so it occasionally does ""childish"" things, like randomly making sand castles when they've camped near a beach, or saying "echoooo" when in a cave . bad example but like i said my brain is fried currently GVYAEGV

they r all mentally ill and therefore they all make random noises at each other btw . i make random noises all day so they do too <3 i do what i want

this was a short list im so sorry but im ending this w smth for y'all to consider: when one of them gets badly injured and the wounded is finally treated and resting, the others snuggle up in a pile around them,,,,,, worried . pile warm and comforting

Omg I love animorphs, what animals do you think the Aquato's would be?

Okay okay so I know you're asking about morphs specifically but like. The human brain loves making connections and I love making symbolic and thematic connections between the characters I like and animals my brain decides to associate them with. There is not a single blorbo that is exempt from this.

Lucrecia is associated with both turtles and otters in my mind, particularly river otters. Turtles are neat and they're (generally, not every species is) aquatic. The otter association is more because I also associate Raz with otters, and it's a neat little connection between them.

Augustus is tough and enduring, leading me to compare him to wolverines. And I know trees aren't animals but they're tall, they provide support and shelter and food to various animals, and I don't think I could not associate Augustus with trees at this point.

I associate Donatella with butterflies and birds of paradise. The butterfly is more of an aesthetic thing, though there is something to be said about the monarch butterfly's ability to complete a 2,500 mile journey in about two months. And then male birds of paradise will maintain a performance space to do their little song and dance in and do you get my vision. Do you get where I'm coming from.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Dion is like a cat. He's graceful and capable of incredible feats but also a complete dumbass. He respects his parents a lot and it shows. He is 100% the kind of guy to faceplant and then get back up and act like nothing happened and you cannot convince me otherwise. Another animal I compare/represent him with is peacocks; look at his stupid hair and tell me I'm wrong.

(Another association is with spiders; this is definitely an aesthetic thing in that an acrobat hanging from a trapeze is visually similar to a spider hanging from its thread. That's it that's the whole reason I lowkey associate Dion with spiders.)

Frazie's a lot like a bird. You could say she's like a martin (agile), a red-tailed hawk (powerful, good vision, and if you buy into the headcanon that Frazie's specialty is bladestunts then there's talons and sharp beaks). You could compare her to a bluejay (clever & brightly colored corvid) or a hummingbird (brightly colored, agile). I also lowkey associate her with ermines (tough, agile, unstoppable energy). Another association I have for her is dragonflies; they live near water (in it during their larval and nymph stages), they're fast and agile, and her hair shape reminds me of them.

Raz reminds me of mountain goats; complete defiance of gravity, stubborn, strong. And as mentioned above, I associate him with otters (aquatic, agile, creates a nice little connection between him and Lucy). A third association I have for him is possums; he's a weird little dude with a weird little look that's still cute, and the general climbing ability fits well with Raz' background as an acrobat.

Mirtala is a lot like a chickadee. Small, adorable, incredibly tough and resilient, and much braver than I'd ever be at that size. She's also associated with ferrets in my mind (adorable, lanky, agile, hyperactive). She's just so funky neat and ferrets and chickadees are so funky neat and I aughhhhhh 🥺

This is more of a headcanon but Queepie reads to me as noticeably smarter than most kids his age. Maybe he's not really, and Dion just trusts him to be right about psychics because Dion is, well, Dion, but I still associate Queepie with owls anyway, because of the wisdom association, the big eyes, and the fact that baby owls (like most baby birds) look so very weird and Queepie is,,,, a weird-looking kid. I also associate him with ants because of his strength.

My brain randomly connected big guy with otters.. considering that you're a ferret, there seems to be something about long, slightly mischievous-looking animals that gives off blorbo energy!

We consider him more to be a honey badger but I guess I get the otter comparison. I’ve heard they can swarm too which I don’t know how much that applies but it is mildly interesting.

Eight: If they were an animal, which one would they be? Which one would they think they’d be?

Mitch would totally pin himself as either a cat or dog; an animal that is common and most would instantly think of bc he doesn't really note himself as fancy or any kind of version of stand-out material.

BUT we think that if Mitch were an animal, he would more than likely either be a birdie - one of prey, either a hawk or owl - or a ferret. Not sure why about the ferrets, save the one thing that I remember about them which would be that those fuckers enjoy fighting badass sneks.

Twenty-Five: What’s one thing they’re utterly incapable of doing without the help of someone else?

Tbh, this would be something for Mitch in the past, bc Mitch has been alive for a bit and honestly, he has had a lot of time to learn so many things and perfect them enough to do things by himself.

But for baby Mitch, when he was still young and new to the Worlds, one of the things that he could not do without the help of his siblings is communicate.

He was a mute child for the longest time, and a lot of the time, he didn't really know how to communicate his needs or desires or anything close to actual discussion. A lot of his thoughts were more emotions and visuals and vague thoughts that only ever could be weaved by his siblings, thanks to their Connections with one another.

A lot of the time, it was kind of playing charades with zero rules or any kind of actual phrase you were guessing.

Forty-Two: What’s the typical first impression after meeting this person?

Honestly, for Mitch, most people tend to think of him as strict and more monotone and quiet. He is very much soft spoken but also very solid with his words. He tends not to mince things, or beat around the bush, and tends to come off as cold and calculating, to most people who see him for the first time.

So, first impressions are definitely normally not on the happy end for Mitch, as many people think of him as someone to simply respect and fear, than really anything else.

Fifty: Do they have any insecurities?

Mitch definitely has some insecurities, and they are mostly ones that he tries to hide very deeply in his heart and mind, so that they don't try to claw themselves out into the Worlds.

One of the main ones would be the thought that he isn't strong enough to protect the people that he cares for. He holds a lot of instances in which he couldn't protect the ones he loves. And even though a lot of the instances were out of his control, he still holds that though in his mind and it tends to show in protectiveness of those that are in his charge.

He is very much a worrying one, especially silently and especially with instances that are within his control. Bc he refuses to let his people slip through his hands again.
