This beautiful girl is Mary Ann. She’s 10 months-old and FeLV+. Mary Ann is sponsored by Cathy Blackstone. SNAP Cats rescued Mary Ann from Oakland, CA. Mary Ann was adopted but then retuned to the shelter because she tested FeLV+. Alane, who has surrendered FeLV+ kitties to us in the past, saved Mary Ann from sure euthanasia, and kept her safe until we could take her here. Mary Ann is a very energetic and playful kitten. She loves to run and play with the other kittens that’re about her age. She also loves human attention, including being brushed and doted over. Tenemos los resultados de Luna: confirmamos que ella tiene Leucemia Felina.

En términos de adopción significa que el hogar para ella debe ser con otro tipo de animales (perros, aves, etc), uno donde ella sea la única gatita de la casa, o uno con otros gatitos positivos para leucemia.

Antes de tener la doble confirmación me preguntaba si tal vez ella lo lo fuera y habríamos perdido las oportunidades de los hogares que quisieron adoptarla pero por ser positiva y ellos tener gatitos, no lo hicieron.

Dos resultados seguido positivos, con pruebas diferentes, nos da mayor seguridad de que no es un falso positivo. Y la tranquilidad, de que esos hogares no fueron perdidos en vano.

We've got Luna's results: we confirmed that she has feline leukemia.

In terms of adoption, it means that her home must be with other types of animals (dogs, birds, etc.), one where she is the only cat in the house, or one with other leukemia positive cats.

Before having the double confirmation I wondered if perhaps the test could have been a false positive and we would have lost the opportunities of the families that wanted to adopt her but because she was positive and they had other cats, did not.

Two consecutive positive results, with different tests, gives us greater reassurance that it is not a false positive. And the peace of mind that those homes were not lost in vain.

Poor Capt Hook!!! Capt Hook came to us from Animal Control. We pulled him towards the end of his stay at the Shelter before he was euthanized. You see Capt Hook is FELV positive. This does not stop him. He can live a Long happy life. He can even live with other negative cats as long as they have their Leukemia vaccine.
