Psst. Consider Prowl getting a new optic that’s red (remember how his optic is gone in the comics?) so now he has blue and red optics…my friend and I talked about it in dms once and it’s stuck permanently in my brain. He’s so cute. So now I have to inflict you with the brain worm I have.

Interesting! I have been thinking about Renegade Autobot Prowl these days and how that character arc would play out in my AU so this was a funny coincidence :3

Although I do like the idea of him getting a red optic, it’d make more sense for him to cover it with an eyepatch (sacrificing the hat brim so he can see better through just one eye💔), since some body parts cannot be healed in my continuity

Prowl is all bark no bite. That’s how most perceive him. He’s scary, of course, but he’s not exactly the most skilled fighter.

Mechs that aren’t a fan of confrontation, being yelled at, or just generally rudeness, might feel a bit more intimidated. There’s also the fact he’s the Second in Command, he has influence and is very smart.

His outbursts of anger are treated as jokes.

Anyway, I'm curious about Jazz. I know most fans characterize him as the 'moral officer' of the Autobots that secretly analyzes his fellow bots but your Jazz doesn't sound like that. Is Jazz considered friendly or is he considered intimidating? How does the common Autobot see him and how does this view change after the Ark crashed?

Hello P-food anon! Nice to see you again.

Jazz is seen as a very competent and charismatic bot. Most respect him for his personality and skill. No one really knows him. Those who fight close to him notice how mysterious and private he is. His reputation is great despite that, and most find him to be a very fun and talented mech.

Is he intimidating? Absolutely! He knows how to get things done.

He’s sent on missions alone frequently - not because he’s arrogant but because he really is the best bot for the job.

After the Ark crashed, Jazz found himself opening up to others slowly. It was getting harder and harder to cope with all this trauma and looking after others while keeping all of this in. He needed at least someone to know who he truly was. To have a real relationship with someone, a real friend.

The Autobots slowly realize Jazz isn’t as perfect as they thought he was. He has his flaws, his feelings.

It’s safe to say the Autobots learn to love him even more after that.

IDW Prowl had a problem with not being a consistent character because of the many different writers that had different plans for him

Some wanted him as an unredeemable monster, some wanted to give him a bit of a chance

He’s such an interesting character

I still prefer a more awkward, quieter version of his character like in Dreamwave and G1

What did I do for my AU? I’ve mixed everything up. Of course focusing on the traits I like the most but I made sure to add an amount of IDW Prowl’s prickly charm! Bonfire Prowl is far from a good person, but he isn’t a villain either - you could consider him an anti-hero
