Fall Cankerworms - Alsophila pometaria
Do Inchworms like to party? Absolutely! Especially if they have other Inchworms around them, and there’s quite a few here! These are the partygoers that eat all the snacks without heed.
Truthfully speaking, these Caterpillars are in fact Inchworms as they belong to the family Geometridae, or Geometrid Moths. They move in a looping motion, pulling their body forward and creating an arch along their back as they do so. Then they straighten out and move forward again, inching their way to their destination. If you look closely, a few partygoers here are in the process of arching their way across this wooden observation fence. The adult Moths conversely are more known for the wave-like patterns that travel across their wings. We’ll return to the adults shortly; for now, let’s focus on the aggregation of Cankerworms in the forest. How they all wound up on the wooden fence is anyone’s guess, especially since it is devoid of leaves to defoliate. It’s possible they may have hatched on the fence itself, being placed their by a female Fall Cankerworm Moth thinking it was some type of hardwood tree. However, it’s more likely that these individuals are descending to pupate. You see,  based on their appearance, they’ve been active for some time now. Upon hatching, Cankerworms begin their lives colored green, gradually darkening with each molt as they grow bigger, just as these have.
They may darken to black from instar to instar, but while they wriggle around they never lose the white bands that trail from head to toe. The band isn’t as visible when green, and neither are the Caterpillars for that matter. They use their green colors to their advantage by straightening their body and mimicking twigs if they feel a threat nearby as they feast at their tree. They’re well anchored thanks to their rear prolegs, so maintaining this posture isn’t an issue. After eating, defoliating, and molting, these Caterpillars find their way to the soil and pupate. The forest finds some peace in the meantime as the voraciousness of these Caterpillars has the potential to be devastating if left unchecked by their predators (both from birds and insects). As the seasons pass and autumn arrives, it is found they these Cankerworms don’t overwinter as pupae. The emerge as grey-colored Moths and seek out the best trees to place eggs and ready the next generation of Caterpillars for the winter. It may sound straightforward, but the female Cankerworms emerge without wings (my sentiments on that were covered in a Bagworm post), making location-seeking much more urgent! Next time you’re in a forested area where these wrigglers can be found, return in the autumn months and look for stout, grey, wide-bodied wingless Moths (grey-winged, male Moths may be nearby). It’s a strange sight, but it’s just another part of this insect’s journey. And being wingless does have some advantages: males come to you, less energy burned on flight and the potential of parthenogenesis (reported in some populations).
Picture was taken on June 10, 2017 at the Royal Botanical Gardens with a Samsung Galaxy S4.

geometrid moths (family Geometridae)
Tumblr media
The geometer moths are moths belonging to the family Geometridae of the insect order Lepidoptera, the moths and butterflies. Their scientific name derives from the Ancient Greek geo γεω (derivative form of γῆ or γαῖα "the earth"), and metron μέτρον "measure" in reference to the way their larvae, or inchworms, appear to measure the earth as they move along in a looping fashion. A very large family, it has around 23,000 species of moths described, and over 1400 species from six subfamilies indigenous to North America alone. A well-known member is the peppered moth, Biston betularia, which has been subject of numerous studies in population genetics. Several other geometer moths are notorious pests.
The caterpillars are accordingly called "loopers", "spanworms", or "inchworms" after their characteristic looping gait. The cabbage looper and soybean looper are not inchworms, but caterpillars of a different family. In many species of geometer moths, the inchworms are about 25 mm (1.0 in) long. They tend to be green, grey, or brownish and hide from predators by fading into the background or resembling twigs. Many inchworms, when disturbed, stand erect and motionless on their prolegs, increasing the resemblance. Some have humps or filaments, or cover themselves in plant material. They are gregarious and are generally smooth. Some eat lichen, flowers, or pollen, while some, such as the Hawaiian species of the genus Eupithecia, are carnivorous. Certain destructive inchworms are called cankerworms.
Many geometrids have slender abdomens and broad wings which are usually held flat with the hindwings visible. As such, they appear rather butterfly-like, but in most respects they are typical moths; the majority fly at night, they possess a frenulum to link the wings, and the antennae of the males are often feathered. They tend to blend into the background, often with intricate, wavy patterns on their wings. In some species, females have reduced wings (e.g. winter moth and fall cankerworm). Most are of moderate size, about 3 cm (1.2 in) in wingspan, but a range of sizes occur from 10–50 mm (0.39–1.97 in), and a few (e.g., Dysphania species) reach an even larger size. They have distinctive paired tympanal organs at the base of the abdomen (lacking in flightless females).

Leap Year 2024
BIBLE STUDY
God is building me.
Obedience is better than sacrifice.
When the time is right I will leap out for the world to see.
JOEL 2:5-11
5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they *leap*, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array.
6 Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness.
7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks:
8 Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.
9 They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief.
10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining:
11 And the Lord shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the Lord is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?
Stepping into all this NEW. Be Encouraged. Love Change. Pray for change. This is Justice. Out of your comfort zone. Scaling higHER.
With your help I can *advance* against a troop; with my God, I can *leap* over a wall. ‭‭
Psalms‬ ‭18‬:‭29‬ ‭
RESTORATION
JOEL 2: 21-27
21 Fear not, O land; be glad and rejoice: for the Lord will do great things.
22 Be not afraid, ye beasts of the field: for the pastures of the wilderness do spring, for the tree beareth her fruit, the fig tree and the vine do yield their strength.
23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with wine and oil.
25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.
26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.
27 And ye shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.
THE PIONEER. Prepared the way.
John wore clothes of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist; he ate locusts and wild honey. ‭‭
Mark 1:6
John eats locusts and honey. Jesus eats and drinks wine with tax collectors and sinners. No one greater than John the Baptist among men born of women.
What I FEARED will now fear me.
Uno reserve card.
 🔄
What came to destroy and invoke fear in me, now I AM BIGGER. Now the enemy can not come up against me.
All it takes i for you to get into a position of God has called for you in your life at such a time as this. Do not fear a thing for His army stands with you. You do have support. You are NEVER Alone.
Be dependent on God to care for your needs as you do God's work. What you will wear will be from what you already have.  The basic, sturdy clothes and live off what you got. Not because you're pious, but because that's what the ministry requires of you. The food you eat and the clothes you wear are a result of your inner righteousness.
Once I'm ready everything will show up. God knows everything that I need. He doesn't want me to worry he will provide everything that I need.
God wants me to take that LEAP of faith. Step of FAITH. Trust His Word.
God is going to do it He is Faithful. You can trust in all He has told you and all you have prayed for.
So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what GOD has joined together, let no one separate. ‭‭

🕊️🌺Wendy🌺🕊️:
The Rains First mention of the rains occurred when God brought the chosen nation out of Egypt and into the Promised Land.
DEUTERONOMY 11:10,11 10 For the land, whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a garden of herbs:
11 But the land, whither ye go to possess it, is a land of hills and valleys, and drinketh water of the rain of heaven.
Agriculture in Egypt depended upon the rise and fall of the Nile.
Irrigation ditches were dug and waterwheels operated with the feet.
Harvest in the Promised Land depends upon seasonal rains. Those rains would depend upon their loving and obeying God.
DEUTERONOMY 11:13,14 13 And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul, 14 That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy com, and thy wine, and thine oil.
Israel has two seasonal rains. The former rains begin in late October and November. They are the first rains of the civil year which begins just before the rains start. The former rains prepare the ground for planting the seed. The latter rains are in late winter and early spring. They water the fields just before the early barley harvest. Without the rains there are no harvests.
DEUTERONOMY 11:16,17 16 Take heed to yourselves, that your heart be not deceived, and ye turn aside, and serve other gods, and worship them;
17 And then the LORD'S wrath be kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit....
God warned Israel against the idolatrous worship of the Canaanites who later tempted them probably saying something like, "Oh, Jehovah was all right down there in Egypt with the Nile and all. But here we must appease our rain god. His name is Baal."
In the progressive revelation of the Bible we see that the rains are heavy with meaning.
God's people were to wait only upon God for the rains. (Jeremiah 14:22.) God's people were to ask the Lord for the rains. (Zechariah 10:1.) The Holy Spirit through the prophet Joel reveals that these rains are types and shadows of the outpouring of God's Spirit:
JOEL 2:23-25,28,29 23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.
24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil.
25 And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm....
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.
Peter, preaching on the day of Pentecost revealed that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit was in fulfillment of Joel's prophecy.
118 The Rains of the Spirit ACTS 2:14-18 14 But Peter standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:
15 For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.
16 But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;
17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:
18 And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy.
The outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts is the former rain outpouring of the Holy Spirit. It came to prepare the ground for the sowing of the seed.
The latter rain outpouring came at the beginning of this last prophetic century of the sixth day. The Azusa Street outpouring was a part of it. The old-timers we've been referring to were a part of it. It came before the early harvest.
But the Bible prophesies an outpouring when the early rains and the latter rains will come together. Joel prophesied a coming of the former rain and the latter rain in the first month. (Joel 2:23.) The Holy Spirit through James revealed that the great third and final outpouring of the age will come just before the coming of the Lord!
JAMES 5:7,8 7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord, Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
8 Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth The Husbandman is God the Father. (John 15:1.) A husbandman is a farmer. God the Father is the best Farmer ever there was or ever will be.
He has a field. Earth. God's field will receive an outpouring of the Spirit likened unto the former and latter rains coming together. The glories of this outpouring will produce the grandest crop ever there was or ever will be. A great harvest of the "precious fruit of the earth" will come in to the glory of God the Father.
The third and last outpouring of the Spirit before Jesus comes will include everything in the book of Acts plus everything in the outpouring at the beginning of this century put together!☕️🌺Billye Brim

Challenges of Nigerian Health Sector
Materials and Human Resources
First off, the placement of health institutions frequently takes the requirements of the community into insufficient consideration due to the politicization of the allocation and location of human and material resources like medical equipment & instruments. The WHO template ratio of one doctor to 500 patients is still not being met by Nigeria's health sector, which results in overworked medical staff. In some situations, patients must wait in line for hours while seated, and if there is a bad case among them, the patient may not survive. This is terrible! Additionally, medical staff members lack the same level of motivation as those in nations with a higher level of civility.
Corruption in Politics and the Administration
In a nation where widespread corruption has torn away the social fabric, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating policies in the health sector is difficult. Clearly, the term "corruption" is misleading. It substitutes mediocrity for the meritocracy. Corruption in the healthcare industry has gotten so bad that a teaching hospital was audited for the accreditation of its facilities and human resources, and the Chief Medical Director hired temporary specialists, such as cardiologists, image scientists, pediatricians, and psychiatrists, etc., just to meet the visitors' set percentage. However, after the accreditation, the hospital is back where it started: with a shortage of human resources. The diverting of patients to privately owned hospitals by a public hospital doctor or pharmacist is another illustration of corruption and ethical obscenity.
Health Policy Development
The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Federal Ministry of Health, should be established as the first stage in the process of recognising the issues with the Nigerian health sector. First, most policies created are one-way traffic, meaning that the Abuja initiative dominates them, although a successful policy requires input from all parties and the people it would benefit. Even worse, once the policies are created, they are not well coordinated or tied to any specific economic goals.
weak infrastructure and facilities
Weak, out-of-date, and flawed logistical support result from the health sector's institutions receiving grossly inadequate funds. This is a result of poor maintenance of the facilities, medical devices, and vehicles, a lack of pharmaceuticals, improper drug compounding, bad drug management, the expiration of drugs and vaccinations, and other factors necessary for patient care.
Health Sector Underfunding
Gross deficit is a social cankerworm that's also destroying the foundation of Nigeria's medical institutions. The Nigerian health system falls short of the World Health Organization Standard of 15% of the total budget as a result of the small budgetary commitment to the health sector. It follows that the fund is not properly budgeted for and promptly released to the healthcare organizations—or, for that matter, life-saving organizations. The health sector has been gravely underfunded for many years.
Issues with Insecurity
As a result of the aforementioned, there is an unstable political system, a lack of security for people and their property, and unrest among the Youths and Avengers who think that the distribution of national resources to the Niger Delta geopolitical region is unfair. Therefore, the implementation of health policy in such hostile environments is a mirage/ruse and is handicapped because no doctors, pharmacists, nurses, image scientists, laboratory technologists, or Chief Medical Directors would want to lose their life unnecessarily or prematurely. Hostage-taking of citizens with high demands for ransom before release, kidnapping, and bumping are ongoing daily or weekly occurrences.
 Lack of Health Workers’ Motivation
Like their counterparts in other developed nations, Nigerian health professionals still do not receive enough pay. Poor motivation has easy-to-understand consequences. To name a few absurdities brought on by low motivation, these repercussions include frustration, subpar service performance, psychological warfare at work, industrial strikes, and brain drain.

They are always there.”ĭespite the concerns, Winnipeggers have flooded exterminators with requests to spray residential trees. In addition, said LaBella, “there are always risks when you use chemicals: ill effects on animals, people’s health and water contamination. By using chemical sprays the city reduces the worms’ natural predators, such as the fiery searcher beetle, and creates what Winnipeg ecologist Vere Scott calls a “pesticide treadmill.” He, for one, suggests that instead of spraying the city should diversify its tree population. If his critics have better ideas, he says, he would be happy to hear about them. Ellis contends that the city has a mandate to protect its elm trees in the safest and most economical way possible. But LaBella pointed out that a 1974 study by Manitoba’s Clean Environment Commission found that spraying caterpillars did not help tree growth in the long run. Shade tree and one of the insect’s favorite food sources-particularly need to be sprayed because repeated defoliation weakens the trees and makes them more susceptible to Dutch elm disease. Ellis claims that the city’s elms-Winnipeg’s dominant
#WORMS CRAZY GOLF BUG HOW TO#
In the middle of an infestation citizens can even hear the worms’ pepper-sized droppings fall from the trees like a spring rain.īut experts are divided on how to deal with the problem. Not only do the worms get tangled in people’s hair, but they also on one occasion forced a family to abandon its home because they completely overran it. Winnipeggers intensely dislike cankerworms, a species that intermittently appears in great numbers four or five years in a row. Until the federal government outlawed DDT in 1969 because of its toxicity, the city used the chemical exclusively for pest control. Ellis added that the infestation might be associated with the banning of DDT. He speculates that a mild winter and lush tree growth may make this year’s infestation particularly severe. Once billions of cankerworms hatch in mid-May, his crews will go to work spraying tree-lined boulevards with the pesticide methoxychlor, a relative of DDT, and major public parks and golf courses with a bacterial agent. As the only fulltime entomologist employed by a major Canadian city, Ellis heads a permanent staff of 14 and a seasonal army of 35 to 50 workers. According to Ellis, Winnipeg has always had “an abundance of insects.” Located on the edge of the Prairies and the forests of the Canadian Shield, crisscrossed by three rivers, the city offers insects a wide variety of trees and shrubs for feeding and breeding. Roy Ellis, head of the Insect Control Branch, insists that the spraying is neither excessive nor arbitrary. I do not know of any other city with such a consistent approach to using chemicals.” Charged Frank LaBella, a University of Manitoba pharmacologist and a vocal critic of insect control programs: “Whatever the infestation, the first reaction is to spray the hell out of it. Only heralds the beginning of the city’s annual $1.1-million war against an array of bugs ranging from mosquitoes to elm bark beetles, and the attendant controversy on the efficacy and safety of chemical spraying. To prepare for the assault the city has increased its worm-killing budget to $142,000 from $72,000, and it has advised Winnipeggers to use chemical sprays to do their own worm killing. The city’s Insect Control Branch is expecting the worst infestation in the city’s history. They denude most of the city’s deciduous trees, stain cars with their excrement and leave behind ghostly webs that hang from bare branches like tattered sails. For the past three years inch-long caterpillars called cankerworms have invaded Winnipeg in the spring and fall.

Eastern Tent Caterpillar and Forest Tent Caterpillar - Malacosoma americana & Malacosoma disstria
At first glance, these two insects might be mistaken for each other, leading to much confusion and speculation over how worried one should be over the surrounding foliage! So, which insect is which? Picture 1 gives a glimpse at the Eastern Tent Caterpillar while Pictures 2 and 3 are of the Forest Tent Caterpillar. They easiest way to tell them apart is to look at the line going across their backs from head to abdominal tip. The Eastern Caterpillar’s dorsal line is a firm, solid line while the Forest Caterpillar’s line is separated across body segments. Furthermore, the Forest Caterpillar’s body has the appearance of greater predominance of blue while the Eastern Caterpillar’s blue is more obscured by the hairs (with golden hues) dotted along the body. Finally, the Eastern Caterpillar has a dark colored face and the Forest Caterpillar has a bright face of a bluish hue. Those are the physical differences, but there are also differences in their nesting habits which are discussed below. For now, whichever Caterpillar you find on your travels, handle with care as the hairs have the potential to be irritating on contact with skin. Nothing happened to me when I handled the Forest specimen, but I still advice caution. When it comes to hairy Caterpillars and their effects, there’s a world of difference between Woolly Bears and White-Marked Tussock Caterpillars! The insects of today’s post are somewhere in the middle. Now about those nesting habits...
When it comes to Tent Caterpillars, they are quite social and tend to group up within silken structures (sadly not seen here) near to the foliage they eat. Unlike Spindle Moth Caterpillars which use their silk to bind plants together, Tent Caterpillars use available structures on trees and plants as foundations foor their silk. Eastern Caterpillars spin true tents to live in that are among the largest within Lasiocampidae (a Moth family branch), while Forest Caterpillars create mats and paths with their silk, lining trees with that for adhesion while they feed. The former do share some habits of nest construction with the aforementioned Spindle Caterpillars: build it with sunlight in mind to ensure beneficial heat, and use the nest to avoid predation. However, these Caterpillars here may have gotten lost or fell from their tree. What you see in the pictures before you isn’t the norm, which tends to be outbreaks that congregate on foliage, leading to voracious feeding! Isolation tends to happen when it’s time to pupate (grouping up while in a vulnerable state would just be an invitation for a hungry predator) or if individuals fall from a tree when silk production thins out , especially for the Forest Caterpillar. Silk may thin out temporarily, but on the final instar, every bit of silk that was conserved goes into cocoon production.
The Forest Tent Caterpillar’s pictures were taken on July 2, 2016 in Wasaga and the Eastern Tent Caterpillar’s picture was taken June 10, 2017 at the Royal Botanical Gardens; both insects were captured with a Samsung Galaxy S4. Next week, a third Caterpillar making a guest appearance in the Eastern Tent Caterpillar’s picture (the Fall Cankerworm) will be explored.

Leaven In The Believer Part I
Monday 8th March 2021
1 Cor. 5:6 – “Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?”
Leaven in Christendom generally  has negative connotations. Today, we will take a look at this important subject to get a proper understanding of how leaven applies to believers. The feast of the Passover, or feast of unleavened bread, is so called because this feast celebrates the night when the angel of death passed over every house that had blood smeared on it (Ex. 12:14-17). This was the feast that Jesus and His disciples celebrated the night He was betrayed (Matt. 26:17-19) and because of this, some churches teach that the Lord’s Supper must be eaten with unleavened bread, since that’s was the menu at the last supper. The reality, however, is that the unleavened bread featured only because it was the feast of the Passover, and because Christ is our Passover, He had to be killed at the Passover. The focus of the Lord’s supper is and must remain Christ’s sacrifice, not on leavened or unleavened bread.
Now, something may be a symbol in the Bible, but it does not mean that it is a symbol every time it appears in the Bible. Sometimes, bread represents the Word of God in the Bible, but sometimes, bread is really just bread. It means that we must understand “bread” contextually whenever we see it in the Bible. In the same way, though leaven is used to represent several things, both positive and negative, in the Bible, neither yeast, nor leavened bread, nor unleavened bread themselves, are good or bad. What is important is that we understand the context of the leaven as it applies to us. Leaven in the Bible has a central principle, which is that something small can affect something big. Let’s look at some of the things that leaven represents in scripture. First, false doctrine (Matt. 16:6-12). Doctrine is the essential meat that believers rely on for spiritual growth. False doctrine is especially harmful to the believer because it creates faith in a falsehood and does not lead to spiritual growth. When false doctrine holds sway over some of your beliefs, they begin to influence more and more of your beliefs until after a while, a person can get caught up in false doctrines. This is why growth is important, so that we are not tossed about by every wind of doctrine.
Second, hypocrisy (Lk. 12:1). Hypocrisy is when actions fall short of words. A gang leader may accuse a member of his gang of being a hypocrite if he fails to kill as he said he would, and people would accuse a pastor of hypocrisy if he fornicated with someone not his spouse. Hypocrisy waters down the strength of a person’s convictions such that over time, the person loses the urgency to live by their beliefs. The more a person lives in hypocrisy, the more their dishonesty becomes ingrained, and at the end, it will lead such a person to loss of faith. It is a cankerworm that eats at the strength of a believer’s convictions, causing him to be most unlike God, whose words always match His actions. Hypocrisy is one of the most unGodly behaviours a believer can indulge in, and is most dangerous because it takes over the mind .
Another thing that leaven depicts in the Bible is sin. In 1 Cor. 5:1-9, Paul writes to the Corinthian church about the practice of fornication and adultery that had become rampant in that church. He told them that such a person who would engage in this kind of activity could easily influence others who thought they could never engage in that kind of activity. Paul’s recommendation, if such a person fails to repent, is for them to remove this person from their midst, and essentially excommunicate him/her. Leaven is like the first cancerous cells that a doctor finds during a routine check. The immediate step to take is to excise the cancerous cells so that they don’t spread and lead to full-blown and terminal cancer.
…to be continued tomorrow. Have a blessed day.

Saints&Reading: Sun., Nov. 1st, 2020

The Holy Prophet Joel ( -800 B.C.)
Tumblr media
The Holy Prophet Joel lived 800 years before the Birth of Christ. He made prediction about the desolation of Jerusalem. He likewise prophesied, that upon all flesh would be poured out the Holy Spirit through the Saviour of the world (Joel 2: 28-32).  Here is his book
THE BOOK OF THE PROPHET JOEL
Joel is the second of the twelve prophets in the Book of the Twelve in Hebrew Scripture. The Book of the Twelve Prophets was originally on one parchment roll because of the brevity of the text, and together formed one Book of the 24 Books of Hebrew Scripture. These twelve prophets were sometimes named the minor prophets, not because they are of lesser importance, but because their writings are brief. The Twelve include Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, and Malachi. The Book of the Twelve follows the writings of the four Major Prophets, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, and Daniel. All together the 16 prophets are called the Latter Prophets, as they began writing after the Division of the United Kingdom of Israel. The Prophets follow the Torah, the five Books of the Law of Moses beginning with Genesis, and preceded the Writings beginning with Psalms and the Wisdom Literature in Hebrew Scripture. The Latter Prophets follow Psalms and the Wisdom books in the Greek Septuagint, as well as our Christian Old Testament of the Bible. Joel - יוֹאֵל - was a prophet in the Southern Kingdom of Judah during the period of the Divided Kingdom (930-722 BC). The Book of Joel is apocalyptic in nature, referring to the "Day of the Lord." Chapters 1-2 refer to a plague of locusts which ravaged Judah at the time. Chapter 2 speaks of God's mercy (2:13-14), and the end reveals a future time of Divine intervention. Chapter 3 relates the Day of Judgement and the salvation of God's children. Cited in literary works such as Dante's Divine Comedy, the "Valley of Jehoshaphat" (3:2 and 3:12) is a symbolic name for the place of the Last Judgement. Jehoshaphat means "Yahweh judges" and may be the Kidron Valley. The most noted passage is Chapter 2:28-32, which is quoted by Peter the Apostle in Acts of the Apostles 2:17-21. Luke the writer sees the Pentecost, the coming of the Holy Spirit, as the fulfillment of the first part of this passage. The following Scripture is from the Authorized King James Version of the Holy Bible, now in the public domain. King James I commissioned a group of Biblical scholars in 1604 to establish an authoritative translation of the Bible from the ancient languages and other translations at the time, and the work was completed in 1611. The original King James Bible included the Apocrypha but in a separate section. A literary masterpiece of the English language, the original King James Bible is still in use today.
THE BOOK OF THE PROPHET JOEL
CHAPTER 1Locusts Invade the Land
1 The word of the LORD that came to Joel the son of Pethuel. 2 Hear this, ye old men, and give ear, all ye inhabitants of the land. Hath this been in your days, or even in the days of your fathers? 3 Tell ye your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children another generation. 4 That which the palmerworm hath left hath the locust eaten; and that which the locust hath left hath the cankerworm eaten; and that which the cankerworm hath left hath the caterpiller eaten. 5 Awake, ye drunkards, and weep; and howl, all ye drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth. 6 For a nation is come up upon my land, strong, and without number, whose teeth are the teeth of a lion, and he hath the cheek teeth of a great lion. 7 He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white. 8 Lament like a virgin girded with sackcloth for the husband of her youth. 9 The meat offering and the drink offering is cut off from the house of the LORD; the priests, the LORD's ministers, mourn. 10 The field is wasted, the land mourneth; for the corn is wasted: the new wine is dried up, the oil languisheth. 11 Be ye ashamed, O ye husbandmen; howl, O ye vinedressers, for the wheat and for the barley; because the harvest of the field is perished. 12 The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.
Call to Penance
13 Gird yourselves, and lament, ye priests: howl, ye ministers of the altar: come, lie all night in sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is withholden from the house of your God. 14 Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land into the house of the LORD your God, and cry unto the LORD,
15 Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.
16 Is not the meat cut off before our eyes, yea, joy and gladness from the house of our God? 17 The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners are laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered. 18 How do the beasts groan! the herds of cattle are perplexed, because they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate. 19 O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field. 20 The beasts of the field cry also unto thee: for the rivers of waters are dried up, and the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness.
CHAPTER 2The Day of the Lord
1 Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand; 2 A day of darkness and of gloominess, a day of clouds and of thick darkness, as the morning spread upon the mountains: a great people and a strong; there hath not been ever the like, neither shall be any more after it, even to the years of many generations. 3 A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the garden of Eden before them, and behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and nothing shall escape them. 4 The appearance of them is as the appearance of horses; and as horsemen, so shall they run. 5 Like the noise of chariots on the tops of mountains shall they leap, like the noise of a flame of fire that devoureth the stubble, as a strong people set in battle array. 6 Before their face the people shall be much pained: all faces shall gather blackness. 7 They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: 8 Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded. 9 They shall run to and fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a thief. 10 The earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall withdraw their shining: 11 And the LORD shall utter his voice before his army: for his camp is very great: for he is strong that executeth his word: for the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; and who can abide it?
12 Therefore also now, saith the LORD, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: 13 And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the LORD your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
14 Who knoweth if he will return and repent, and leave a blessing behind him; even a meat offering and a drink offering unto the LORD your God? 15 Blow the trumpet in Zion, sanctify a fast, call a solemn assembly: 16 Gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders, gather the children, and those that suck the breasts: let the bridegroom go forth of his chamber, and the bride out of her closet. 17 Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where is their God?
Blessings for God's People
18 Then will the LORD be jealous for his land, and pity his people. 19 Yea, the LORD will answer and say unto his people, Behold, I will send you corn, and wine, and oil, and ye shall be satisfied therewith: and I will no more make you a reproach among the heathen: 20 But I will remove far off from you the northern army, and will drive him into a land barren and desolate, with his face toward the east sea, and his hinder part toward the utmost sea, and his stink shall come up, and his ill savour shall come up, because he hath done great things. 24 And the floors shall be full of wheat, and the fats shall overflow with wine and oil.
28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: 29 And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. 30 And I will shew wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood, and fire, and pillars of smoke. 31 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the LORD come. 32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.
CHAPTER 3Judgement Upon the Nations
1 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem, 2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land. 3 And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink. 4 Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompence me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head; 5 Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things: 6 The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border. 7 Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will return your recompence upon your own head: 8 And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it. 9 Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: 10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong. 11 Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD. 12 Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about. 13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. 14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision. 15 The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. 16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.
Salvation for God's Elect
17 So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more. 18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim. 19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land. 20 But Judah shall dwell for ever, and Jerusalem from generation to generation. 21 For I will cleanse their blood that I have not cleansed: for the LORD dwelleth in Zion.

John 21:1-14
1After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and in this way He showed Himself: 2 Simon Peter, Thomas called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons ofZebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. 3 Simon Peter said to them, "I am going fishing." They said to him, "We are going with you also." They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. 4 But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5 Then Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any food?" They answered Him, "No." 6 And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. 7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea. 8 But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fish. 9 Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish which you have just caught." 11 Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken. 12 Jesus said to them, "Come and eat breakfast." Yet none of the disciples dared ask Him, "Who are You?"-knowing that it was the Lord. 13 Jesus then came and took the bread and gave it to them, and likewise the fish. 14 This is now the third time Jesus showed Himself to His disciples after He was raised from the dead.
Galatians 2:16-20
16 knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified. 17 But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is Christ therefore a minister of sin? Certainly not! 18 For if I build again those things which I destroyed, I make myself a  transgressor. 19For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
