The Falkville Metal Man
Tumblr media
The encounter happened in Falkville, Alabama on October 17th, 1973. A police officer named Jeff Greenhaw got a call that a woman had seen a UFO. It was 10 PM, and he was off duty, but he decided to check it out. He grabbed his revolver, handcuffs, keys, and his polaroid camera.
He drove to where the UFO had been, but he didn’t see anything strange. He got out of his truck to get a closer look at his surroundings. He saw what he assumed was a person. He shouted at them to get their attention, but he got no response. He walked closer to the “person”, and he noticed they were wearing what looked like aluminum foil.
He ran back to his truck, grabbed his camera, turned on his headlights, and managed to take 4 pictures of the entity before it fled. He tried to pursue the entity in his truck, but it was able to outrun him even though he was going 35 MPH. The pursuit ended when Jeff’s truck got stuck in a ditch. He said the entity ran faster than any person he had ever seen.
After the encounter, Jeff faced public ridicule. He was terminated from being the chief of police, he and his wife divorced, someone went as far as to burn his house down, and years after the initial encounter someone broke into his home and stole the original photographs of the Metal Man. He withdrew himself from the public, and moved to several different states before deciding to return home.
Some possible explanations are:
This was a prank orchestrated by Jeff (or someone) that was inspired by the Pascagoula Abduction, which had happened a short time before the encounter.
2. The entity was an alien.
3. It was a person in an asbestos fire suit.
4. It was a teenager who was very talented at running.

In 1973, the chief of police in Falkville, Alabama, went to investigate a UFO sighting. Arriving at the scene, he not only saw but actually photographed a strange being in a metallic suit! He described it as being the size of a child and moving in a jerky, robotic fashion. Skeptics say it's just a prankster wrapped in tinfoil, but whether the chief was in on the joke, nobody knows.

Felvikall
Tumblr media
“Falkville Metal Man- Alabama” © John Meszaros, accessed at his deviantArt gallery here
[Commissioned by @wannabedemonlord. The original Falkville Metal Man is pretty clearly a hoax; the only real question is whether the witness was in on it, or whether he was a victim of a prank.]
Felvikall CR 14 N Aberration This being looks to be a humanoid encased in a full-body metallic suit. Its movements are fluid and fast, and the outline of writhing shapes can be seen beneath the skin-tight metal.
The felvikalls are a race of strange, superficially humanoid creatures. Their true form is a knot of writhing tendrils and feelers, but they squeeze their bodies into humanoid shapes as they know that these are somewhat less intrusive in the worlds they roam. They are creatures to which the material world is antithetical, and except while wearing their protective gear will be torn apart by mere contact with air and earth. This strange reaction is similar to the feeding mechanism of the dreaded cacagnea, and the two species may originally be natives of the same world.
A felkivall prefers to negotiate or flee from violence—although they are strong and powerful, the relative fragility of their protective suits makes them nervous. They can open vents in their suits for a fraction of a second, channeling their destructive potential into deadly wounds and beams of annihilating energy. Doing so injures a felkivall as well, and so they typically make hit and run strikes against enemies, trusting to their incredible speed and fast healing to keep them alive long enough to wear down a foe.
A felvikall’s body sparks in contact with the light, and they can learn light based languages, such as that of the mi-go. They tend to be fiercely devoted to each other and disdainful of everyone else, but their behavior can be occasionally unpredictable. Felkivalls are interested in discovering ways to prolong their lives in a hostile reality. Devising a method to generate conditions similar to their home is the goal of many feklivall parties, but these environs would presumably be as destructive to most material creatures as the world is to the felvikalls.
A felvikall is slightly shorter than a human, averaging around five feet tall and weighing 120 pounds.

A creature struck takes 20d6 points of damage unless it succeeds a DC 24 Fortitude save, whereupon it takes merely 5d6 points of damage. A creature reduced to 0 hit points by this ability is reduced to dust, as if by a disintegrate spell. The save DC is Charisma based. A felvikall takes 3d6 points of damage every time it uses this ability. Annihilation Touch (Ex) A creature struck by a felvikall’s slam attack, or touched by a felvikall, myst succeed a DC 24 Fortitude save or take 5d6 points of damage. If it succeeds the save, it takes merely 1d6 points of damage. A creature reduced to 0 hit points by this ability is reduced to dust, as if by a disintegrate spell. The save DC is Charisma based. A felvikall takes 1d6 points of damage every time it uses this ability. Internal Derangement (Ex) The true anatomy of a felvikall is bizarre. It has a 75% chance to ignore all sneak attacks and critical hits, as if wearing greater fortification armor, and gains a +4 racial bonus to all saves against disease, paralysis, poison and stunning effects. Protective Coat (Ex) The metallic bodysuit of a felvikall grants it a +6 armor bonus with no armor check penalty or spell failure chance, as well as providing it with its reflect rays ability. The coat can be damaged or destroyed, such as by sundering (hardness 15, 10 hit points). If it is destroyed, the felvikall loses these benefits, and is exposed to the environment around it. Its annihilation beam and annihilation touch abilities deal 150% damage, as if empowered, but the felvikall takes 5d6 points of damage each round (no save). Once reduced to 0 hit points in this manner, it is reduced to dust, as per a disintegrate spell. Reflect Rays (Su) A felvikall’s protective coat reflects beam weapons, such as rays, laser guns and other ranged touch attacks. It is immune to such abilities. There is a 30% chance that the beam is directed back at its origin at full force, otherwise it is simply negated.

The Falkville Metal Man is an extraterrestrial encountered in Falkville, Alabama in October of 1973. It has been described as a humanoid figure covered head-to-toe in a reflective material similar to tin foil. It moved in a strange, ape-like fashion, and at tremendous speeds.
The being was encountered by Falkville's chief of police, Jeff Greenhaw, who was responding to reports of a UFO sighting. He managed to snap four photos of the Metal Man with his polaroid camera before it bolted.

These images were taken by police chief Jeff Greenhaw. The entity has been called the Falkville Metal Man and was encountered in Falkville, Alabama on October 17th, 1973. Greenhaw received a call from an anonymous woman around 10pm; she reported seeing a UFO fall and crash on the property of a man named Bobby Summerford. Upon leaving to investigate, Greenhaw remembered to grab his Polaroid camera, which is how we have these images. Once he got to the location, everything seemed to be normal. But after a few hundred yards of walking along a trail, he saw this humanoid figure that appeared to be made of metal. Startled by the camera’s flash, the Metal Man charged Greenhaw. He later noted that the entity moved as though it had springs on its feet, unlike anything human. Greenhaw got into his truck and managed to speed away and lose the creature. In the months following the sighting, bad luck befell the police chief: he lost his job, his marriage crumbled, and his house was burned down.
Greenhaw was adamant that the entity he witnessed and took photographs of was an organic being that was not of this world.

THE FANTASTIC FALKVILLE METAL MAN - October 17, 1973 - Falkville, Alabama. (Pictured: Enhanced image of the alleged creature itself / a nighttime visit to the Metal Man Encounter Spot.) While investigating a reported UFO sighting, Police Chief Jeff Greenhaw encounters and photographs a man in a metallic suit on a country road just on the outskirts of town. He takes four Polaroid pictures before the being "leaps" away across a field in an unbelievable stride. Bad luck soon follows Greenhaw as within weeks he loses his job, his wife, and his home is burnt to the ground. The strange encounter occurred less than a week after the famous Pascagoula Abduction just a few hours south. Similar beings were described in that case. A hoax? A prank? Or something else? The "Metal Man" pics became iconic imagery for a time in the mid-70s, appearing in numerous magazines and on the covers of many UFO books. The true story remains a fantastically intriguing mystery.
