i actually believe that doing extremely patriarchal things but with males instead is the only way to solve male violence. use all the cultural weapons available to kill their biological drives:
- abort most male foetuses: less criminals in the world
- teach men that they are naturally incompetent and too emotional to function and should only care about shallow stuff like their appearance: less men in positions of power and consequently less systematic rape, pedophilia etc
- have a matriarchal religion that doesn't actually worship goddesses, but instead a male deity that is held to impossible moral standards (like a male Virgin Mary) and shame men for not being like Him, until they start to compulsively police their own behavior and become very strict with themselves. if worshipping goddesses at all, make them be just regular women with very human flaws who can, idk, control thunders and be really scary. make them old grannies to avoid sexualization or make it forbidden to depict them. male deities on the other hand should be very young and beautiful but also virginal. you can also add oversexed male demons to your religion so male sexuality can finally be demonized and rightfully so
- remind them of how we used to live in a perfect world until a frivolous male did a stupid male thing and Scary Goddesses/Pretty God had to exile our entire species
- make them feel guilty for being born. tell them how you would rather have daughters because they're so much easier to raise. buying cute outfits is the only good thing about mothering a boy
- and if men complain about all of the above tell them that suffering is good and they'll be rewarded in heaven. actually men are really good at this suffering thing and they should be proud of how they never complain when treated like shit. it's one of the few things they're good at. women could never. <3 suffering in silence is so sexy guys!!!
- repeat this bullshit over and over until it becomes true
- teach them that being pleasant, inoffensive, and subservient to women should be their life goal. they should act in a way that's pleasant to women even when there's no woman around
- and if they don't like it, tell them that they're not in touch with their natural masculine instincts and should be very ashamed of it. because nature or whatever
- reprimand them harshly at the first signs of self confidence
- make them feel insecure about EVERYTHING from head to toes to their way of walking to their speaking voices. constantly compare them to other men
- but give them lots of praise and extra cookies if they act shitty to other men and defend women even if they're wrong. be careful not to overdo it though. make it clear that your love is conditional :)
- discourage them from exercising, learning self defense or doing anything that could make them stronger. that's a woman's thing and not acting your gender is the quintessential crime
- also keep them on a diet that would make them more peaceful and emotionally bland. in other words keep them malnourished, and encourage eating disorders
- men are the inferior gender btw. ever seen a horse? yes they're big. but they're so dumb! ever seen a horse do math? they're only good at breeding! actually they're also good at being trained by females! men should be proud of being like horses 🐎🐎🐎🐎 because 💕💕🌼🌼🥰🤗
and that, folks, is how you actually empower women! because doing that shit to us is how men empowered themselves in first place 😊

WHAT’S GOD TO YOUR WIFE?
tumblruser maybecowboycore // ethan carlson // phoebe bridgers // soul eom // ethan carlson // richard siken // ethan carlson
[image description: seven images that read and appear as follows.
1. “What’s heaven to a woman’s love anyway? What’s God to your wife?”
2. “All my life, God, where were you? Never there for me, never there for me. Now, there is Naomi. She is my God. Oh, I love her”
3. “But you know I’d stand on the corner embarrassed with a picket sign, if it meant I would see you when I die”
4. an oil painting of a man and woman embracing, the man is kneeling before the woman with his head in her lap, his face turned to the audience. the woman is folded over the man, her hands resting on his head and neck. the man appears nude from the waist up, the woman is dressed in a blue shirt and skirt. the painting has a dripping quality to it where the woman’s hair falls down the man’s back.
5. “Who do you think I pray to? And bow down in my dreams? Who do you think I want to meet me down upon my knees?”
6. “They want you to love the whole damn world but you won’t, you want it all narrowed down to one fleshy man in the bath.”
7. “Making you appear to be the king of a castle, when really you’re a man, when really you’re just mine”

I like to think that what partially motivated Lucifer to finally snap and Rebell against hell was him actually meeting and talking to Adam and Eve and realizing "Holy fuck I dont want them nor their future gens to be tortured forever" and seeing them grow, change and learn as well as having a choice in who they wish to be (smth angels cant really do) and maybe just maybe the hypothetical that if everyone in heaven, both angels and humans are immortal they'll all eventually land in hell to be tortured forever (considering eternity is a long time and a long time to accidentally Slip up)
i definitely think the human issue is primarily what drove his dissent, and i think the idea is supported well enough by the testament alluding to lucifer's fall. initially, of course, he was thrilled by god's new design - "we will make man in our image" is a pretty intriguing pitch, but lucifer's questions quickly began to rise to the surface as that idea took shape. a creature made in god's image, taken to mean that human beings will be boundlessly inventive and have the capacity to create endlessly, something the angels don't have, means they will have a world just BURSTING with new ideas and more to love. however, humans will be restricted, beings of flesh that have a much smaller scope of awareness and limited senses, but that isn't necessarily a terrible thing - they will live in their own world of peace, a beautiful garden made for all their generations to grow in. something goes wrong though, something feels off to him when he begins to understand how curious they will be, how they will learn and how they will be self-governing - they will truly possess themselves as god does and in ways he did not impart to his angels. yet humans were to be tested, and if they were fail then their lives become ruinous, they bring pain, disease, violence, and untold burdens into the world as their punishment, until death takes them in the short lives they have. they will be subject to all evil, a design cruel enough in itself, but hell put the nail in the coffin for him.
because he is left with the how. how can beings so small, born without any knowledge or inclination and living for just a few short years, in a world filled with evil, confusion, and anxiety, be expected to hold god's laws in perfection? it planted a growing seed of misgiving in him, of doubt in god's goodness - a place of eternal torment for what would be, in most people, a small life of mistakes. it shook lucifer's love....because his love burns for all of god's creation now too. he couldn't bear to see these humans tortured beyond all time and it's true too that it made him fear for all of them. could hell house them all? could heaven be emptied? could god, in all his power and all his growing need to be obeyed and adored beyond what his creations even seem capable of giving, cast them all out and simply make new children that he thinks could satisfy his demands? because humanity feels an awful lot like god wants something else from what he has, beings of pure free will that will love him endlessly because his angels just aren't enough. nothing is enough. and i think that thought sparks his unease to the point of rebellion. nothing is enough for god. he looks upon heaven, he sees the seraphim like himself that are wholly devoted to singing praises all day and all night in god's presence, he sees the archangels made to hold up and exalt his throne, he sees an expansive kingdom full of worship by all who inhabit it...and god wants more. will he keep creating to this end, over and over, beings made out of nothing and then soon enough cast off into the pit? cycles of endless torture, for all time. it was a heavy, harrowing thought, so ghoulish it seemed unthinkable, yet hell was there, and humans would be condemned to it if they "failed".
if he did meet adam and eve in any way, that if would be erased and hell's usage would become a certainty. not because he finds evil in them, but because they are curious, they want to learn and they like to share with one another. they have god's essential spark in them, yet he denies them the fundamental knowledge of good and evil knowing full well their divine nature and the intelligence he gave them. what's worse is that it seems likely in this scenario that the serpent in the garden is likely from god as well - while traditional christian belief holds that the devil tempted them, the serpent, canonically, has no identity (satan is HIGHLY unlikely given genesis's age besides) and so...adam and eve obeyed, yet god decided to push them again. he gave his orders, they listened, but it wasn't enough. i like the idea that maybe lucifer finally broke when god sent that serpent, when he saw that no matter how humans obeyed, they would be tested until he found a way to make them fail. because they hadn't touched that fruit. they took god's word and did good, despite all their contrary nature. it just furthers the fear that they are all destined for a fate of damnation, that god will push and push and push until his creations fail him, that whatever goodness he has is being devoured by something within him that lucifer is sure he cannot fathom.
yet i think, even until the end, lucifer believed he could sway god's mind. he is the satan, the adversary, part of his role meant to question and now, to accuse. so maybe he was meant to call this cruelty for what it is, maybe he was meant to condemn hell as an institution...at least, maybe he can change this before it goes too far. yet even if he had any anxiety about what punishment this might incur, his stand had to be taken for humanity and for the host of heaven, lest they be subject to the same tests and wrath. unfortunately, lucifer would find out god's brutality is unending when one dares threaten to remove an ounce of their adoration for him.

Slap-Chop
Slap-Chop, Kung Fu Dojo, 2002
No relationship to the kitchen gadget or to any actual kung fu dojo.
Oh thank god a shorter game. After reviewing a pair of maximalist games, I could really stand to relax with this 84-page martial arts game instead of-- awwwww goddammit it's racist.
(deep breath in... deep breath out...)
Ok, so why have this as a full review and not just a drive-by?
The combat system is worth stealing. It's the fastest "real-world" martial arts system I've seen. By "real-world" I mean that it's using punches, kicks, evasion, blocks, and not energy blasts or flying or wire-fu. Having been in sparring matches, things happen FAST, and every other game I've seen has shifted toward the "complex" side of things rather than the "snappy" side of things. Slap-Chop goes for fast.
Your character has a set of techniques - jab, elbow, low-high roundhouse kick, double block, sidestep dodge, etc. They go in a grid on a card. None of the moves are better than each other, per se, but having a wider repertoire can be helpful, especially since you have three ranges ("in", "out", and "behind") and some of the techniques only work in one of those ranges. If you want to change ranges, you put a Footwork card face-down during a technique, and so does your opponent, and then you flip and you both move in the direction you chose. If you're already "out" or "behind" and you both move back, you end up circling each other out of kick range, which also provides a rest where you can restore some tokens.
Speaking of which: you all have a number of tokens (generally 10-15). Those tokens can be poker chips, checkers, glass beads, anything that can fit on the grid. You take turns calling out techniques and placing tokens on your grid. You attack, they defend; they attack, you defend; and so forth. Each attack technique has a set of defense techniques that work against it. If you don't have one of those defenses available, you get hit. You can put a token on the same technique you've already used, but you better not do it again, because your third placement automatically fails as your opponent has seen it twice before in this bout.
The result is that combat goes basically as fast as you can say "Hook kick!" "High block! Jab!" "Pass! Chop!" "Simultaneous block-strike!" and so forth. There are more details in terms of how many tokens you get, how refreshes work, how damage works, etc. All of those help to balance things out. I could definitely imagine adapting this system to a setting that does use higher-powered martial arts. You could do a rad DBZ game with this.
You might wonder how anything that's not 1:1 sparring goes. The setting says that no one fights two-on-one, but the rules say you just use the same mechanics, which means the lone person is going to lose real quick.
That's what's worth taking from the game. You can pass on the rest of it. No I'm not going to explain precisely how this martial arts game set in an Asia-esque setting is racist. You probably figured out half of it already just from that description. You do not need details. It is not novel or interesting in its racism. (Honestly, nothing ever is.) I'm not telling you where to get it either.
Instead, I recommend checking out Asians Represent - they'll give you the insider perspective on much better-known games and how well or poorly they handle a variety of Asian cultures.

So as a fellow sukugo shrine sweeper, I feel like I have to share this with you first:
That's it. It was over. They all watched as Gojo fell to the rubble beneath his feet. Shallow, raspy breaths and the gurgling of blood would only be poetic in a moment such as this.
"You fought well, my sorcerer." Sukuna's words weren't a verbal sneer. He stated it as fact, therefore it was so. He walked to the highest pile of former buildings and sat down. "I will give you a choice, Satoru Gojo. You die here and now, or you can crawl to me. After all, it would be a shame to lose you. You've taught me something that no one else could."
Everything was shaking. It was too much but nothing at all. Gojo could only cling to the voice in front of him, to the eyes of the god before him. Crawl, Sukuna had said. What did he have to lose? The world was fucked either way, and he had caused so much destruction.
The refuge in his audacity had run out.
The refuge ahead was still here. Just a few steps away.
Stumbling was something he didn't think was possible when crawling. He never had to worry about it before.
A clawed hand raked through his blood crusted hair. If he wasn't using the king of curses as a bedrock for his sanity, he might have been startled.
"There we are, Satoru. I'm glad you made the right decision. Come here, and I will tell you what you taught me." He pulled Gojo between his legs and the sorcerer laid his head on the other's leg. He felt Sukuna healing his wounds right under his fingertips, and gasped as it overflowed into his bones.
Not quite healing, but more a brand. A mark of victory, pouring into his cracked cup of a body. He felt Sukuna filling every empty space, not just his mind, but his physical form as well.
He didn't know when his eyes had closed, but Malevolent Shrine was kinda hard to miss.
"Why so quiet all of a sudden?"
"It's not empty anymore. It's quiet." Was it always this dark?
"Your six eyes caused that void. I removed the problem. Made you whole. You were born rare, but also broken. Empty. I suspected that was what was wrong with you, but... you don't have to worry about that now."
"Explains why everything is so fucking dark."
A barking laugh came from above him.
"A small price for me filling your void."
"Careful now, I'm already on my knees." Gojo wise cracked. "But what did I teach you?"
"Love." That's... not what he was expecting. " You and I are very similar. That is the reason why our fight was as fulfilling as it was destructive. We fill and heal the void that makes us restless... but only you can give that to me. Just as I will be the only one for you."
The curse lifted him up onto his lap, and Gojo gently examined his remains of his eyes. Gone.
"When they regenerate, they will be no different than normal eyes, little sorcerer."
"When??"
"I would prefer if my love could see me." Gojo parted his lips to speak, but an insistent press of lips took the words from him.
When they parted, Gojo could only formulate one solid question:
"What would I see, Sukuna?"
The god holding him, his grin unseen, leaned back into his throne.
"That I alone...
...am the exalted one."
Sorry if this is really long or seem ooc, I was vibing to Neoni and things happened. I hope you enjoy though!!
