Prompt: Hook getting a call after his almost cursing Jericho. "A devil trying to do a demon's trick?"

Hook's phone rings, a number that he hasn't contacted in a very long time. He answers, although he's not sure what to expect. There's a hiss down the phone line, like the old international calls that his Nona would make to distant cousins back in the old country when he was small. 'Hello?'

There's a long silence, but just as Hook is about to write it off as a pocket dial and hang up, a voice speaks, both familiar and alien. 'A devil trying to do a demon's trick?'

Hook sucks in a breath, thinking back to the moment, Jericho on his knees before him and a strange, unfamiliar power coiling inside him, calling out for him to unleash it. He had managed to reign it in, with some difficulty. He didn't realise that Danhausen had been keeping up with AEW, and he deliberately doesn't think about the possibility of Danhausen finding out any other way. 'It wasn't deliberate.'

The voice laughs, and the hairs on the back of Hook's neck stand on end. 'Oh, Danhausen knows Hook did not do it on purpose. It felt good though, did it not?' Hook thinks for a moment. The power had felt wrong, coiling inside him like an inky stain, almost choking him with its intensity. 'No' he lies, closing his eyes in resignation as the voice laughs and laughs and laughs.

Eventually the laughing stops. 'Oh Hook, always trying to be the noble one. Eventually he will see.' The voice drops into a growl, if the growl came from a mouth that only vaguely remembered how to be human. 'They will all see.'

The line goes dead with a click, leaving Hook alone in the quiet of his hotel room once again. He eyes the shadows behind the curtain warily, but no movement stirs.

He doesn't sleep much that night.
