unwavering - aemond targaryen.
Edited: 28.11.2022.
Pairing: Aemond Targaryen x Reader
Warnings: Mentions of murder.
Summary: Aemond will always choose you.
Word Count: 1000+.
A/N: There's a spoiler in here but, it's not really a spoiler because there's no context. It's technically still set during the Dance of Dragons but, I completely changed certain aspects of it when it comes to House Baratheon.

Your heartbeat echoes in your ears, mouth dry and arm's heavy as your hands try but, fail to fist themselves in the material of your riding pants.
Staring at a spot on the floor, your throat begins to close up as the witness you had not known existed tells the tale of a young girl who had slain the Lord and Lady of Storm’s End before setting their quarters ablaze to cover up their murder.
Aemond sits on the Iron Throne, a crown of Valyrian Steel set with blood red Ruby’s encircling his head; looking every bit like a King as he now rules as Prince Regent with his lady-wife Cassandra Baratheon ruling beside him.
Your eyes flicker up toward Aemond. His gaze does not meet yours but, he’s keenly aware of you and the anxiety that riddles your body.
You don’t bother looking at Cassandra, knowing all too well of her hatred towards you. Everyone knew of her hated towards you and, why should she like you? With you around, she was in constant competition for her husband’s attention and though you were never vying for his, he always gave it anyway.
A problem that might’ve been easily solved had it not been for the fact that you were Aemond’s dearest friend and even though Cassandra was the perfect Lady-wife, she simply could not compete with you.
But, she had you. She finally had you.
Years spent digging into your past. A girl of ten and two who seemingly appeared from thin air, brought into the service of then Queen Alicent and placed in high ranking. Not a Lady by any means but, never to be touched by those above you; made possible by the unwavering friendship you forged with Prince Aemond - you fiercely loyal to him and he to you.
What the witness does not tell however, is that you had acted on the orders of Ser Otto Hightower. Brought into his services as a mere girl of six to be his eyes and ears amongst the common folk before, he eventually had you trained as a skilled warrior and assassin to carry out the more heinous of crimes - including the murder of Lord & Lady Baratheon at the age of ten and one. A political move made with hindsight in mind to bring House Baratheon to the Hightower-Targaryen's side as their deaths left behind an orphaned child - a little girl and heir to Storm’s End who would come to marry Prince Aemond and have all of the Stormland's behind Aegon when he eventually became King.
And though Lady Cassandra is not aware of any of this, Aemond, Prince Regent of the Seven Kingdoms is.
You are his dearest friend after all.
“And who pray tell was the young girl that you saw- “Cassandra chokes on her words. “that you saw murder my parents? The Lord & Lady Baratheon of Storm’s End.”
A look of triumph mixed with relief graces Cassandra’s face as tears well in her eyes as the witness points a shaky hand at you.
She had you. She finally had you.
“Ser Dayne,” Cassandra calls her King’s Guards. “Arrest her.”
“You will do no such thing,” Aemond commands from the Iron Throne.
Triumph turns to bewilderment as Cassandra suddenly turns to face her husband who gracefully descends the steps of the Iron Throne.
“Take the witness to the cells beneath the crypts,” Aemond instructs both his and Cassandra’s King’s Guards with no room for argument. “These accusations will not leave this room. See to it that his tongue is removed and tell no one of what has taken place today.”
Cassandra watches in horror as Aemond continues to give orders. Her eyes then focusing on you and the way you do not react, not even once as everything plays out. It is then that realisation hits Cassandra like a wave of ice-cold water.
Aemond knew.
Once the throne room is empty except for the three of you, Aemond moves to comfort you but, Cassandra places herself in front of him.
“Did you know?” Cassandra asks him hoarsely, eyes shining with unshed tears of hurt and betrayal.
“Yes,” Aemond speaks without hesitation.
A harsh sob escapes Cassandra, her hand coming to her mouth as she stumbles away from him at his admission.
“How could you?” she sobs. “How could you do this to me?”
You close your eyes, head shaking softly; hating yourself for the position you had unintentionally put Aemond in.
“If you had not so incessantly pushed at this, we would not be in this position,” Aemond reminds her bitterly.
“Me?” Cassandra places a hand on her chest, unbelieving of the words she was hearing.“I seek justice for the murder of my parents, and I am to blame?”
“It is not justice you seek but vengeance. Do not mistake me for a fool,” Aemond seethes.
“But, Aemond,” she pleads. “They were my parents. My fam-”
“She is my family!”
“and I am your wife!” Cassandra bellows, voice bouncing off of the high ceilings.
A muscle in Aemond’s jaw jumps, his hand flexing in irritation as he coolly strides up to Cassandra and corners her between himself and the wall. Cassandra shrinks back in fear and the action irritates Aemond. For all that he is, he would never intentionally hurt her but, for you…
Leaning down to Cassandra’s ear, Aemond whispers for only her and him to hear. Her face turning white as a sheet with each word he speaks, and when Aemond pulls away there is terror in her eyes. Holding her gaze for a second longer, Aemond silently challenges her, daring her to speak against him but, she does not. Instead, nodding her head reluctantly and leaving the throne room in a rush but, not before sending a scathing look toward you.
Silence follows the echo of the heavy doors closing behind her, the two of you now standing alone in the throne room and you don't ask what he said. You don't want to know.
Aemond releases a shaky breath through his nose, tension leaving his body as he finally approaches you. Brushing a few stray pieces of your hair, he cradles your face between his hands, softly smoothing out the lines of worry.
"I can handle myself," you remind him gently.
Aemond's eyebrows furrow with a small shake of his head.
"I know but, you never have to," he tells you.
A silent promise passing between the two of you that he would always protect you first and foremost.
Placing a kiss on your forehead, Aemond brings you into his arms and rests his chin atop your head as your arms go around his waist and his arms around you.
Aemond loves wife (in his own way) it is true but, she is not the wife of his choosing.
Aemond loves his wife, it is true but, he is in love with you.

I FUCKING KNEW IT! THE LAB WAS TOTALLY INVOLVED WITH THE CREEL MURDERS!
WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHY VICTOR CREEL WAS APPARENTLY FOUND WANDERING ALONG THE HIGHWAY THE MORNING AFTER THE CREEL MURDERS. WOULD LOVE TO KNOW WHY HE DOESNT MENTION THAT. THIS HAS BRENNER AND LAB FUCKERY WRITTEN ALL OVER IT!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
This part of the article, as far as I can tell, reads:
“The bodies were discovered early Sunday morning, after Creel was found wandering aimlessly along the side of Highway 49, south of Hawkins.  Deputy (name here bc i cant quite read it)  from Hawkins police department intercepted Creel and made the discovery upon returning him home.”
I’m telling you guys- that shot in Henry’s memories that Nancy sees of “victor” holding Henry the EXACT same way that Brenner holds El WAS BRENNER, Henry’s memories have been messed with. And so have Victor’s.
And so, let’s go back to that scene of Victor supposedly getting arrested that night- those “cops” weren’t cops at all. Those were Brenner’s lab employees. Victor was then taken, likely had his memories tampered with, and was released onto the side of the highway. I thought maybe this scene was Victor getting arrested the next morning but a.) it’s dark outside and b.) the newspaper article specifies that a HAWKINS POLICE DEPT officer intercepted Victor- but in the show, we see STATE TROOPERS arresting Victor- “state troopers” who then took him, messed with his memories, and dumped him on the side of the road, where he was later picked up by the cops. And need I remind you of the state troopers who kept interfering with Will’s fake body in S1? The state troopers who are shown here ARRESTING VICTOR?
Tumblr media
Not only that, but the same article states that both children were found eyeless- which doesn’t make any sense because as we know, Henry didn’t lose his eyes. It was a FAKE BODY found by the Hawkins Police Dept officer the next morning, planted by the lab.  And is it not strange that Victor makes no mention of his arrest- almost as if it’s missing from his memories? And is it not fucking STRANGE that, like I’ve been SAYING, so many shots that play during Victor’s retelling are from HENRY’S POV, through HIS EYES, whereas many shots in Henry’s memory sequence are through VICTOR’S EYES?  It’s almost like their memories got swapped around- swapping places, and all that.  And what’s really weird about this is that Victor claims that Henry slipped into a coma and then died a week later- and yet, Victor was being charged with THREE murders, not two murders and an attempted murder, THREE murders, and again, the article claims that BOTH childrens’ bodies were found eyeless.  How the hell did Victor know about the coma? Well yknow who DID know about the coma? Henry. But then “a week later, he died.” Victor seems to have been under the impression that Henry was alive, and then accepted that he had died- which would explain the fact that the article kept caling Victor “defiant,” and acting as if they weren’t dead. Why would the lab tell Victor that Henry was in a coma and then that Henry died? Because they wanted to sell the idea that Victor was insane. They wanted him to keep denying the murders, even though Henry’s “eyeless body” had already been found, even though somehow, miraculously, evidence photos of a “bloodbath” at the Creel house had been shown. A bloodbath that was staged by Hawkins Lab.
It’s almost like Henry was put into a medically induced coma by Brenner, like i’ve been saying, but that’s a topic for another time. Brenner was there that night. The lab was involved. The lab planted Henry’s fake body, Brenner killed Virginia and staged her death, just like Benny, Virginia and Henry were fighting with their powers at the table. Alice was killed by Virginia.  This ties into another massive analysis I’m working on, so I have a bunch of proof specifically for the idea of Brenner pushing the Creels around via subtle manipulation, but long story short, but Brenner was pushing the Creels around like pawns on a chessboard too- Virginia was an abusive mother, but this tension between her and Henry was exacerbated by Brenner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And is it not interesting that the lab hides behind “Hawkins Power and Light,” which is the vans they use in S1?
Yknow. Lights. Like the flickering ones in the Creel house. The exact sort of thing that would be needed to cause tension between Henry and Virginia, wondering who was causing the lights to flicker- the exact sort of thing that would make Virignia “somehow know’/suspect that Henry had powers?

the ASOIAF / HotD / GoT fandom does not talk about the Velaryons enough, (and i know y’all know why. work on that.) so let’s talk about them. I present:
Velaryon Appreciation Day 1:
Corlys Velaryon
The lack of recognition for Corlys is DISGRACEFUL in this fandom.. I genuinely didn’t know he was a main character until I watched the show this week.
So here are some reasons you should appreciate or at least recognize Corlys:
1. He loves his wife more than anyone on that show. Easily the best husband out of the lot.
2. Literally Rhaenys’ #1 fan
3. Puts aside his long-held ambition to have his blood on the throne when Rhaenys asks
4. Is one of the biggest supporters of Team Black
5. ..I’m not kidding, do y’all remember how he kept vying for Rhaenyra’s claim long after her death? Yeah
6. Dude got arrested and sentenced to death for plotting to unseat Aegon AFTER RHAENYRA WAS DEAD
7. Like instrumental to Team Black and Rhaenyra’s line succeeding the throne, especially post-dance
8. Some of the best hair in the series i mean COME. ON. :
Tumblr media
the gold bands? that length??? outdid.
9. Some of the best outfits, especially among the men of HotD
Tumblr media Tumblr media
10. He is THE Sea Snake, ruler of the seas!!!!!! Lord of the Tides, Master of Driftmark, Head of House Velaryon, and Princess Rhaenys’ husband (the final is obviously his best and most important title).
Tumblr media
11. My dude is HARDY. Recovered from a near-fatal stab wound and intense fever at 70(ish) years old.
12. He is so sweet to Luke. Fights for him as heir to Driftmark despite knowing they are not blood related (“it was just so the Velaryon name stays on the throne!” so? he could’ve supported Vaemond’s claim but he chose to support Rhaenyra’s child, his grandchild)
Tumblr media
(look at little Luke and his grandsire😞)
13. Driftmark is cool as fuck and he’s the Master of it so that’s another point to Corlys.
Tumblr media
14. I said it once I’ll say it again: GILF.
Tumblr media
15. (extra credit): Steve Toussaint (Corlys’ actor) seems to be a great guy. He’s funny, v entertaining in interviews, comes across so genuine, bffs with Eve Best (Rhaenys’ actress), and is a huge GoT nerd (seriously. he is the only one who can answer any questions about GoT in the interviews i’ve seen him in). And fun fact- as I was looking to see if he’s overtly problematic, I discovered that all of his twitter likes are just “human kindness” and funny animal videos.
Tumblr media
And the worst thing is that if he looked like his pre-HotD fancast/fanon version, people would not shut up about him.
Tumblr media
“He’s soo fine”
“I need a husband like him”
“We need to talk about him more.”
..and you know i’m right!
FINALLY:
I am not saying you have to like Corlys (especially if you do not fw any asoiaf men, which i deeply respect), but free him and House Velaryon from this double standard you hold them to.
Like I better not see anyone who appreciates, recognizes, or likes Daemon or Aemond or Criston or even Alicent talking about how Corlys is “too prideful,” “too ambitious,” because look the fuck around!!!!!!! who isn’t in this goddamn verse!!?!??!!! and also you know what?? if my beautiful amazing badass wife was denied her rightful throne, i’d be mad about it too!!!!! even after she said she was over it!!!
if you made it this far, i’m thoroughly impressed and even more grateful that you have heard me out in this Corlys Velaryon rant!

Re: New Moon and the race to stop Edward’s suicide. I get that it’s Bella’s story and she needs to be in the action, but logically there were other options than flying her to Italy. Castle Volterra has a secretary; surely Carlisle could have called the castle and name dropped himself in a message for Aro. “Detain Ed until I can get there” and fly himself to Italy. Edward only does the sunlight thing to provoke them after they refuse to kill him. If they just arrested him, he wouldn’t be able to fight his way past every guard member.
Alice says “You can lie with your thoughts and Bella in-person is the only proof that will work on Edward” but surely Alice could have taken a digital/early model camera phone pic with Bella in her kitchen holding a newspaper for the date and Carlisle could use it as proof (or cause enough doubt) to get Edward to come home. For the law, Carlisle has success in changing other humans to vampires and can make the promise to change Bella. It makes more sense for Aro to let the Cullens off bc Carlisle is his friend, and Alice isn’t there as the prize he wants. If he wants Alice later, he has to let everyone go home now.
But then we don’t get to meet the villains until the next book and even then the ones in charge don’t roll in until the last book. Bella doesn’t get another “special me” moment by shaking hands with Aro for him to be impressed. It is better storytelling and drama for Bella to be in Italy and get the dire reunion with Edward, but the plot definitely could have been tightened up. As you’ve pointed out before, why was Rose never informed that Bella wasn’t dead after all when Alice stayed at the Swan house for two days? Maybe Rose still calls Edward but to say, “It’s pointless to stay away now bc Alice is there. She saw Bella jump off a cliff-“ and then Edward stops listening, spiraling in misunderstanding. That seems more in-character than Alice not keeping her family in the loop.
The whole climax of New Moon feels, to me, like she wanted to do an homage to Romeo and Juliet with the whole “he thinks she’s dead” miscommunication thing. I think she also had this very clear vision of Bella running through the plaza to get to Edward. As someone who dabbles in fiction writing, I get that.
But it’s just a lot harder to pull off a miscommunication of this scale in 2006 with CELL PHONES than it was back in Ye Olde Verona. So it ends up feeling SO contrived.
Harry dies so there can be a misunderstanding about a funeral and Jacob picks up the phone at Bella’s house?!? Who does that?!?
Alice doesn’t bother telling anyone for several days that Bella is in fact, alive, so that Rosalie finally gets through to Edward to tells him Bella’s dead?
Carlisle and Esme are away hunting, apparently, and also don’t have cell phones or at least no service?
I mean I get that in 2006 cell phones weren’t AS common as they are today, but the Cullens are stupid rich and like, import the latest models of TVs and expensive cars, I’m supposed to believe they don’t also have the coolest new phones?
All of this involves characters acting in ways real people just . . . don’t. And like I get they are vampires but Jacob picking up the phone at Bella’s house is always going to be weird. Alice being in Forks for like two days before Rosalie finally gets ahold of Edward makes literally zero sense. And if all that STILL happens, then yeah, Carlisle calling Volterra as soon as he’s made aware of what’s going on and then flying there himself is the most logical thing to do and the easiest solution. No one has to convince him Bella’s alive if Aro just ‘arrests’ him and has Alec sedate him until Carlisle gets there or whatever.
But Bella doesn’t get to run through the plaza and Alice doesn’t get to steal a Porsche so we’re not doing THAT.

ZEcret Santa Fic
To: @oobi-oobi
  From: @classycorgiposts
Prompt: The cast of 999 keeping up with each other after the events of the game
Me: First text to make sure I have everyone’s number.
Clover Field: Got it!
Light Field: Received
Junpei Temyouji: No issues here
Ichiro: Here
Lotus shot Seven a withering look from the seat next to him. “I *know* I have yours, idiot.”
“Yeah yeah, my bad.” He rolled his eyes.
Me: Good. Is everyone doing ok? Big lug and I are at the airport waiting on the flight now
Clover: lmao
Clover: All good here! Light and I will be getting back home soon
Lotus: Got it. Stay safe, and like that Alice woman said, if anything weird at all happens, get in touch
Junpei: Ok mom
Lotus: I’m serious
Junpei: allright, I got it
  ——————————————-
The moment Hazuki stepped off the plane and saw her daughters, it was like a valve opened and the turbulent emotions she’d been experiencing since the Nonary Game came pouring out, breaking her cool demeanor she’d put on for the others. Seven watched as she burst into tears and ran across the lobby, pushing her way through the crowd towards her daughters, who barreled into her arms, sobbing with joy in return.
Standing off to the side so as not to interrupt the moment, Seven pulled out his phone.
Seven: Back in Japan. Hazuki’s girls met us here- all good
  Responses came within moments.
  Light F.: Wonderful news.
Clover F.: SEND PICS
Junpei T.: Awesome, good to hear
Clover F.: I SAID SEND PICS
  ——————————————-
Sitting on the couch in his apartment’s living room, Junpei’s leg bounced up and down nervously as he watched a TV special on the news about the arrest of Cradle Pharmaceuticals CEO and the liquidation of the company. His apartment felt emptier than it had before.
Me: You guys see the news?
Snake: Listening to the report as we speak.
Seven: Took longer than it should have for this to have gone public. Cradle run hospitals here in Japan have been in disarray, they’re almost certainly gonna shut down.
Since his return home, he’d felt restless and anxious. A nervous energy coursed through him at all times with no outlet. Kanny and Aoi were gone, and all the others he could talk to about the Nonary Game were far away.
Junpei: Any leads on them yet?
Seven: I already told you I’d let you know as soon I found something, calm down kid
Seven: I’m doing the best I can, but without some kind of lead to follow, it’s near impossible. Akane and Aoi completely took themselves off the map
Sighing, Junpei continued watching the news. He needed to do something. Anything.
  ——————————————-
Running his hands along the desk in his study, Light felt the sounds and vibrations of the small army of groundskeepers working on maintaining the gardens and forest outside their family’s manor.
“So what’s going on?” Lotus’s voice came over the phone. “It’s unusual for you to need help,”
“So you say. I apologize again for the sudden call, but it’s our mother. Put frankly…she’s become tyrannical.” Light sighed. “She’s kept a close eye on us both since my accident as a child of course, but since we’ve returned home, Clover and I haven’t had a moment’s peace. We’re hardly ever allowed to leave the house, and her paranoia over something happening to us again grows day by day. The kicker is that we’re even particularly close emotionally.”
“Hmm. Let me talk to her.” Lotus declared after a moment’s thought. “Mother to mother.”
———————————————
“Your mom did what!?” Junpei said in disbelief. Sitting up in bed, he’d been awakened by a sudden call from Clover, groggily listening as she angrily vented on the phone.
“Yeah, bodyguards! How insane is that!? My brother tried talking to my mom as his soon a bunch about letting us be even a *bit* independent, but nothing worked, and there was no way she was gonna listen to me. But then Lotus tried to talk to her and she went completely ballistic, ranting about ‘dangerous strangers’ and us just being stupid kids!”
A sudden notification while she was ranting caused Junpei’s head to swim.
“Holy shit…I just got a huge amount of money sent to my bank account!
“What?” Clover gasped. “You think…it’s them? It’s gotta be, right?”
Junpei’s mind raced. “Hang on- I’ve got an idea.”
———————————————
Seven stood in his office with Junpei on speaker, in front of a cork board with countless photos, cut outs of internet articles, and maps connected by bits of string. It might’ve been cliche, but damn if it didn’t help with seeing the big picture from pieces of a case.
“You getting close to their estate?” He asked.
“Yeah, almost there. You know, I was really confident about this at first, but I’ve been getting nervous the closer I get. My palms are all sweaty.”
Junpei was on his way to the Field estate in a car he’d bought with the large amount of money that had been mysteriously deposited into his bank account from an unknown source.
“Man, I still feel weird about helpin’ with this too…” Seven mumbled halfheartedly. “But their mom’s basically holdin’ them hostage.”
  “Right.” Junpei’s voice hardened. “
“If they manage to slip out and follow the route we planned, that is.
“They will.” Junpei’s voice grew confident. “They’ve got this.”
———————————————
Sprinting through the carefully tended forest in the pitch black of night, leading her brother and Junpei by the hand, Clover still couldn’t help but laugh with elation. The confused shouts of the bodyguards tearing apart the estate they’d managed to give the slip after days of careful planning with Junpei, Lotus, and Seven were incredibly satisfying.
She left behind a cutting note for their mother, so at least she’d know why they left, and that it was extremely of their own accord this time. The money Junpei had randomly received was a lead- one that Lotus and Seven could follow to the Kurashiki siblings. They’d meet with Junpei, hitch a flight to Japan to reunite, and then…Clover didn’t know. But it was a future full of possibility.
“Clover, I hear a vehicle.” Light said. “Is that him?”
A moment later, Clover heard the sound of tires. Just as they exited the dense forest behind their estate on a remote back road, a sedan screeched up the back road, and disheveled Junpei threw open the doors. “Holy shit, it actually worked- you got out.”
“Let’s talk later!” Helping Light into the back seat, Clover hopped into the passenger seat, quickly hugged Junpei, then threw on her seat belt.
“We can catch up shortly.” Light said, hardly out of breath. “For now, we should make ourselves scarce.”
“On it!” Junpei stepped down on the accelerator, and they were off. “I’m still getting used to this car, so sorry if the ride’s bumpy! I haven’t had to drive in a while!”
“I’m sure it can’t be any worse then Clover’s driving back in Nevada.” Light said wryly, a bittersweet expression on his face as they got further and further from home. Junpei may have brought up the plan for them to run away, but Light had been the one who heavily endorsed it and planned it out. It had been a necceasry evil, for him and Clover both.
“Rude!” Clover grinned. The adrenaline of escaping from the prison of her home still coursing through her, Clover stuck her head out the window and laughed, the wind blowing on her and the trees passing by in a blur.
A future of freedom, of searching for the truth with the only people she trusted, was in sight.

House of the Dragon Masterlist
____________________________________________________________
The execution of Otto Hightower was a well-attended event.
Taking place in the same square his plot against your husband had occurred, the townsfolk of King’s Landing as well as those from court made sure to be present for the downfall of such a high-standing man.
The Queen was noticeably absent, but that was to be expected given it was her father being put to death.
Following your salacious revelations to the King, Viserys had placed his wife under house arrest since he could not discern her involvement in the scheme against his family.
And because she was pregnant with their third child, it made sense to wait for it to be born before deciding what to do with the mother.
You did not know the Queen’s thoughts on the proceedings regarding the Hand, but you supposed she could take comfort in the fact that he had at least died with dignity.
Though your husband confessed he would have liked to have heard your enemy plead for his life at least once, no such begging took place before the axe came down and Otto’s head was removed from its body.
If you were being honest, you had to admit the whole event had been a bit anti-climatic which proved that even in death, Lord Hightower was boring.
But soon, just as your husband predicted, he and his demise became yesterday's news.
By the time the moon had gone through all of its phases twice, the Red Keep was filled with a different kind of gossip.
Following the birth of his second daughter, Helaena, the King announced his marriage to Alicent Hightower was officially annulled.
Since Otto had tried to make Aegon successor to the throne, Viserys was finally made to realize the only way this would not happen was if the child was no longer in the line of succession.
In order to do that, the King had to make the difficult decision to disinherit the children he had with his second wife.
Declaring them to be solely Hightowers, he allowed the children to be heirs to Alicent’s ancestral home rather than his or the Kingdom.
You supposed that was for the best since it gave the now former Queen the freedom to live out the rest of her life as a respectable noblewoman with legitimate children rather than as spoiled goods with bastards.
It was a kind offer and one that allowed for the most amount of possible happiness with the least amount of bloodshed.
In recognizing this, Alicent put up no fight as she departed the Red Keep with her kids in tow.
Now that the line of succession was firmly secured, you could feel every person who had been watching the brewing storm breathe a sigh of relief as it passed without conflict.
There was no longer a need to worry about an impending civil war now that the King’s younger children no longer had a claim to the throne.
While this was merely a consequence of you and your husband’s bid to avenge one another, that did not stop Rhaenyra from expressing her gratitude to you both for ensuring her ascension to the throne.
Having become good companions since your arrival to the castle, you considered the Princess a friend prior to your confrontation with the Hand. That bond only strengthened after the fact, and now, your relationship was closer to that of sisters rather than that of Aunt and niece.
That said, you suppose you could admit that you had become somewhat protective of the girl since she had all but latched onto you.
After realizing that your friendship had eased her loneliness, the heir to the Iron Throne had sought you out more times than you could count.
And because you enjoyed her company so, you never minded when she did.
Lately, you both had been occupied with you honoring your word to train her in using a sword.
For now, you were using weapons made of wood. But at the rate your pupil was progressing, you knew it would not be long before she would be ready to use the real thing.
Taking in her prepared stance as she stood across from you on the training grounds with her wooden blade up, you noted with pride that she looked just as fierce as any dragon.
This was a queen you could follow.
Giving her a slight nod, you watched as she took your signal to continue sparring by lunging at you with a swing.
You allowed her to continue attacking you while you assessed her footwork. You were happy to note it had improved greatly since you had been teaching her as you kept to your defenses.
Letting her get a few more swings in, you decided to disarm her after you noticed a flaw in her attack.
When her sword hit the ground, the Princess looked to you stunned as you said,
“Remember to always keep your guard up. Your opponent will try to engage when you least expect it.”
Picking up her sword by the hilt and holding it out to her, you finished your advice by saying,
“So make sure you are always expecting it.”
Nodding to show she understood, she watched as a proud smirk grew on your lips before you said,
“Good job today, Rhaenyra. You will make a fine knight in no time.”
Her smile was bright as she thanked you for the compliment and the training session.
Waving away her thanks to both, you each put away your wooden swords before making your way inside.
You had just finished discussing how she could further improve her technique when it came time to part ways and go to your individual chambers.
You requested a bath be drawn upon entering your room and took off the pieces of your training gear as you waited for it to fill.
After the maids told you the bath was ready, you soon let out a sigh as you reclined back into the steaming water and leaned your head against the edge of the tub.
You had been relaxing in the heat for a while before the sound of the Prince’s voice alerted you to his presence.
“Enjoying yourself?”
Slowly opening your closed eyes in order to see his roving over your hidden body, you allowed a small smirk to grace your lips as you replied to the man leaning against the doorframe,
“Immensely, Husband.”
Taking a few measured steps into the room, Daemon was disappointed to find whatever soaps and oils you were using had made the water completely opaque, but that did not stop him from asking with a humored note to his voice,
“Can this unworthy husband be of any assistance to his good Lady wife?”
Smiling at the phrasing of his question, you declined with a shake of your head before saying,
“Your company is more than enough.”
Nodding his head at your answer, the Prince was happy to take a seat near you as you bathed.
He had been giving an account of his day thus far when he saw you give a small wince as you adjusted yourself in the tub.
Pausing in his story, Daemon sounded concerned when he asked,
“Are you alright, my Love?”
You nodded as you immediately realized what the true cause of your discomfort was. Recognizing this was a great opportunity to impart the news you had been holding onto for a few days, you were purposefully vague as you responded,
“Yes, I am perfectly well. I just have to inform Rhaenyra that we will have to pause our training sessions for awhile.”
That seemed to be a perfectly acceptable answer to him as he raised your hand to his lips. Placing a kiss on the back of it, he distractedly inquired,
“How long is ‘awhile’?”
After contentedly watching him reverently place kisses on each of your fingers, you trained your eyes to his face as you answered with a coy smile,
“About nine months.”
His reaction was delayed as he processed the unusual timeframe. But once it hit, he stopped and slowly returned his gaze to yours.
It was silent as he held eye contact with you for a moment before saying with a touch of disbelief,
“You are carrying my child?”
You bit your lip to contain your excited smile as you nodded at his question.
Daemon’s following grin was grand as he began to move.
You understood where he was going when he lifted one foot over the rim of the tub after the other.
Laughing heartily as he climbed fully clothed into the bath with you, you had trouble giggling out,
“Daemon, what are you doing??”
Unconcerned about the water seeping into his clothes, your husband grinned back at you as he said while kneeling in the tub,
“I am showing my wife my gratitude for such a wonderful gift.”
And leaned in to passionately press his lips to yours.
As you returned his enthusiastic kiss, you remember thinking that no moment of happiness had ever come close to this one.

Oh! How about this au in which Rhaenyra wins the war, and some of the Greens are "spared," not out of mercy, but in a "fate worse than death" way. The Blacks ensure Aemond will never ride a dragon or pick up a sword for the rest of his life. Aegon is castrated (because what happened to Dyana and countless other women was horrible) and sent to The Wall, where he lives the miserable rest of his life in the cold. Criston Cole's sword hand is cut off by Daemon, and he is also left to rot at the Wall with Aegon (let's see how far his temper and outbursts get him when he doesn't have a Queen to hide behind). Maybe Daeron is spared if he doesn't cause any trouble. Helaena and her children are sent to Dragonstone to live the rest of their lives in peace. Otto is made to watch his fellow conspirators be roasted alive or skewered by Dark Sister one by one until he's the last man to die. Alicent is locked away in a tower; she remains deprived of friends, her children, and her status. Everyone moves on without her, and Westeros changes under Queen Rhaenyra's rule, with Alicent observing helplessly as King's Landing flourishes like never before from the bars of her single window. Finally, at the height of her despair, Rhaenyra gifts her the "beloved" page from their girlhood in a cruel mockery causing Alicent to break.
Ah, so kind of like a fate of the greens in the event of a black victory?
I think a fair chunk of the Greens still end up dead, but there is certainly some room for fates worse than death on the way. Having them alive is too dangerous to Rhaenyra, even having won the war.
I should be doing an addendum onto The Red Queen in the nearish future along a similar concept.
But in general, here are my headcanons for the fate of the greens if they lose:
Aemond: Probably already dead - generally I don't see the greens as a whole surrendering unless he is out of the picture, and if he decided to side with Rhaenyra then he is not getting punished. But in the event that the blacks do get to have vengence on him, I think at the least they'd take his other eye.
Aegon: Something public. Beheading or for a properly poetic end given canon, fed to Syrax. Before that - I mean who is to say what happens in the Black Cells? And demonizing Aegon would certainly potentially help Rhaenyra with PR. Castration could work for that.
Daeron/Jaehaerys/Maelor: Not killed - these three are important for Rhaenyra keeping control of both claims - it is hard to rebel in someone's name when they are the captive of your opposition. To that end, I think house arrest on Dragonstone is likely, with the possibility of being sent to the Citadel or joining the Queensguard, depending on how things work out with how loyal they are to the new queen. But they are unlikely to ever marry - Rhaenyra has enough boys of Targaryen blood on her own and this way the male line claim of Aegon II would die with them.
Helaena/Jaehaera: Again, not killed - these two are always beneath Rhaenyra in the line of succession, and given the relative lack of Targaryen boys, Jaehaera is definitely in the running as a wife for Joffrey or Aegon. That being said I would think Rhaenyra would require Jaehaera to be raised at court, and I think it reasonable that she would allow Helaena to remain with her. This also would be good PR for Rhaenyra.
Alicent: I see Rhaenyra being very vindictive and cruel in a personal way to Alicent, especially if Luke is dead in this verse. Something along the lines of being sent to a motherhouse in the Vale, never to lay eyes on any of her children or grandchildren again, and never to see the Reach again. After being made to watch all the executions. I also could see Rhaenyra declaring her father's second marriage to be invalid as it was not a Valyrian one, and calling Alicent nothing more than the king's mistress and her children nothing more than bastards. It would kind of fit thematically with Rhaenyra's eldest three actually being bastards. Alicent would definitely live a long, horrible life - and Rhaenyra would go out of her way to make it worse than death. And I could see her giving
Otto: Gets to watch as Rhaenyra reduces House Hightower to second-rate Tyrell bannermen, effectively undoing his entire legacy, before getting to 'light the way' - literally. Whether dragonfire or wildfire is used is optional.
Criston Cole: Daemon gets to do whatever he pleases with him. Likely would end with Caraxes roasting him - but not before he begged for it.

and the beacon still burns green ; the trembles of the hightower.
facts:
following king jaehaerys targaryen's coronation in kings landing, lord garland hightower returns to oldtown a week later to continue working on matters regarding the high septon - this is whilst the rest of the court of the reach remain within kings landing.
chatter among servants regarding the coronation of jaehaerys targaryen travels the halls of the hightower, until it reaches the ears of lady alicent hightower, who remained in the custody of house hightower and specifically garland since the end of the dance of dragons.
the presence of lady alicent hightower remains a top secret contained only to the hightower, but upon hearing the news, alicent finds herself increasingly turbulent in demanding to see garland, continuously referring to jaehaerys as aegon.
when lord garland hightower finally meets with his aunt, after days of increasing tense behaviour, an altercation occurs. alicent, wrapped in her own mind and feverish zealous nature, declares garland's marriage to zialla antaryon from braavos the cause of the breakdown of the hightowers.
she cites the death of dante hightower to be a result of punishment from the gods, and goes on to demand being let out of the chambers in order to be allowed to visit aegon; the rightful king of the realm. when garland refuses and turns to leave, in one sweeping moment, the glass goblet she held onto to drink wine from was shattered over the back of his head, piercing into his skull. the lord of oldtown falls to the floor, in a pool of his own blood. there is silence.
silence, until the scream of lady simonetta hightower fills the air upon seeing the sight of her son on the ground, with alicent holding a bloody, half shattered goblet in her hands, cutting into her own flesh. as simonetta scrambles to her knees in an attempt to shake garland, desperate to see him awake, alicent looks upon simonetta and sees only a redwyne, adorned in emeralds glinting in the reflection of the stained glass. the redwynes, who surrendered their responsibility to the crown when lord arlo redwyne was murdered by the rowan boy.
suddenly, alicent hightower reached forward to grab onto the emerald necklace around simonetta's neck, half mad, half furious, half grieving, with incessant screams to take it off. it was then the shards of glass alicent gripped onto found their way into simonetta's neck. not once, but twice.
hightower guards have arrested alicent hightower, where she remains a captive of the burning beacon; an urgent letter was sent to multiple members of the court of the reach to inform them of the news. as of this moment, the court of thorns and roses have declared the need to depart back to the rolling fields of the reach, citing security as their only reason.
the ooc and ic facts:
nobody knows garland is dead yet apart from reach muses; lord gael hightower is declared the regent/warden of oldtown until the lady rosaria hightower is of age.
cedric has imposed martial law over oldtown and the hightower to take control of matters, considering nobody even knew alicent was alive. he truly believes they have brought this upon themselves - he needs convincing the hightowers were not planning on using alicent for any other purposes.
lady rhea tarly is being charged with ensuring garland's death remains under wraps until it is officially declared.
lady rosaria hightower, an infant of only a few months old at this point, is in the care of lord omer and lady lucrezia florent (as garland gave his daughter to lucrezia to be cared for) - cedric intends to use this fact to assert tyrell influence and control over oldtown.

The wedding dates was so original and fun! Ty for blessing my dash. It was really great. If I may ask, what about the Genshin guys with the Island adventure? How would they like the domains? The Fatui run ins? Do they know Alice? Beach vibes, even?
My bad if this isn’t what you asked for but it’s how I interpreted your ask ahahaha :’)
So we know the domains are based on the character’s most vulnerable moments right
ayato and itto are both pretty well adjusted and have both come to terms with their past so they see their struggles as something they’re proud of having overcome. i’m going to throw diluc in this category as well based on his recent event; when you finish his domain he takes it in an “it is what it is” kind of way
I really want ayato’s domain to mirror kazuha’s. personally I think it’s very poetic, two noble houses that fell from grace together; and while one further descends, the other rises to the top
I think thoma still has some unresolved trauma he tries to hide like his survivor’s guilt or how he never found his dad so he’d be hesitant
making xiao go through his most vulnerable moments right after perilous trail??? plssss give this man a break 😭
kaeya would love going into other people’s domains but his own? it’s a naur from him. his domain would be the prettiest though bc omg khaenri’ah reveal?
childe would like play it off like it’s no big deal “aw are you worried about me” and then it’s the most traumatic thing you’ve ever witnessed (just abyss things <3)
good luck to zhongli if he’s with people who don’t know he’s a literal god 😃👍
on a more serious note though any of the archon mirages would be insane. so much loss. zhongli’s mellowed out quite a bit so he’d be hesitant to show others all the violence and loss he’s endured
also the way each mirage is super personal but you have to go through it with a group of people LOL zero boundaries, we’re jumping right to lvl 10 friendship
pls diluc is a known menace to the fatui. this man is banned from snezhnaya. how would he react? it’s on sight, time for retri-
jk he can be convinced to help but very begrudgingly. everyone else would be a little more willing but kaeya, ayato, zhongli, and xiao I see being very wary especially upon finding out the truth of the device. childe secretly loves their family dynamic but won’t show it because he has a harbinger reputation to uphold
I think all the mondstadt men canonically know alice. I’m pretty sure everyone else also at least knows of her since she’s a famous adventurer and wrote teyvat travel guide. zhongli has definitely had a few run-ins
she’s probably been arrested before by the tenryou commission and itto was her jail buddy
random beach headcanon; childe burns in the sun but diluc tans. come on he’s out in the fields picking grapes mwah sun kissed king

The Winchesters 1x11: You’ve Got a Friend
“Being a hunter means always being on the move. No matter how hard you plan, no matter how hard you work, at a certain point, we all run out of road. It’s what we do with those crossroads that defines us.”
After the show left us with a thrilling cliffhanger of Kyle getting Akrida-killed, and John getting framed for it, we start this week at the clubhouse. Mary, Carlos, and Lata are cleaning up after the Wilcox invasion (who left behind all his Akrida research).
Tumblr media
They hear a noise and find John, bloody and zombie-like, in the hallway.
He later fills them in on his escape and the Akridas’ plans. The gang concludes that John and Mary need to get the hell out of Dodge. They can’t trust anyone since the Akrida are everywhere. Lata has a sudden inspiration for figuring out who’s an Akrida. Apparently Maggie had a bracelet that could “pinpoint anyone harboring a dark secret.” They can use it to suss out the Akrida! Lata and Carlos head back to Mary’s house to find the bracelet.
While hunting for the bracelet, a sweet story of Lata and Maggie seeing Alice Cooper in concert reminds Lata that Maggie loved Toastettes, and she knows where to find the bracelet!
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Mary and John head out to stay at Samuel’s hunting cabin, but get as far as the car’s trunk before Betty finds them. Betty is HALF John’s size, but somehow he doesn’t fight the arrest and she takes him into custody.
Tumblr media
Back on the bracelet hunt, Lata finds a rat poison container (because everyone in the house loved Toastettes so Maggie had to hide them) and the bracelet is inside!
Tumblr media
Lata lets Carlos (and the audience) know that the bracelet was supposedly a creation of Erebus, the god of secrets and shadows, for his followers to discover the hidden secrets of their enemies. Lata makes a move towards the bracelet and then it snaps onto her wrist. WHERPS! The bracelet also comes with its own handy-dandy terror shadow! It locks the duo in the house and takes out all the lights.
Mille and Mary rehash what happened the prior night. Millie thinks they can trust Betty with their hunter/Men of Letters secrets. Listen Millie, the first rule of Hunter Club, is DON’T talk about Hunter Club. She argues they need a cop on the inside.
At the police station, Betty brings John a coffee in the interrogation room and checks to see how he’s doing. A hold-over from the mid-century good-old-boy detective club, Detective Klett, arrives to bust John down a notch or two. He gives him grief about his ex arresting him, but then plays good cop and tells John he knows he didn’t kill Kyle. He did. HE’S AN AKRIDA, Y’ALL. He pulls out the photo of Dean and demands an answer to who he is.
Tumblr media
Back at the house, Lata reads that if whoever wears the bracelet has a dark secret, they will have to confess or the shadows will consume them. Carlos can’t quite process that his ray of sunshine has a dark secret. The shadow snatches him before they can talk more!
Carlos finds himself stuck in a dark, cold, sparsely decorated room. Lata can hear him calling, and he can hear her back. They call for each other until the shadow manifests itself as Maggie!
At the clubhouse, Betty gets her first glimpse into all the studying John’s been doing in school. It’s a lot, folks, and Betty’s not having it.
Tumblr media
Before Betty completely storms off, Mary pleads with her to check for the three marks on Kyle’s neck.
Lata confronts the specter masquerading as Maggie, even as Maggie pulls her into soft reminiscing about the time they used to spend together. Maggie tells Lata that she’s harboring a dark secret - and that secret is the key to finding Carlos. Shadow!Maggie smokes out and hauls Lata into the cold room with Carlos. She finds him half frozen on the bed and barely responsive. She lights an oil lamp for some meager warmth - the same one Carlos failed to light. She claims that knowing the knack of lighting the lamp was “muscle memory” and as Carlos watches, Lata reveals that the creepy room was once a part of her home.
At the Clubhouse, Millie tries to talk Mary out of her jailbreak plans. “I was young and dumb once, too.” Lol. Convincing Mary is like talking to a wall. Millie ends up with an assignment to call for backup from Lata and Carlos, while Mary heads out to stake out the precinct.
Tumblr media
At the precinct, Klett, the Akrida detective, smirks. John’s cracked already - he promises to reveal all about Dean Bean. Instead of the man’s identity, John spills out a handful of rock aliases (sooooo accurate though) until Klett catches on. Klett reacts…poorly. But John’s confident that this Akrida framing push reveals something important: Dean Winchester, the man of mystery of the hour, is a threat to the Akrida. “Nothing of this earth can harm you, so if he’s a threat to you and nothing of this earth can harm you… Well. That would mean he’s not of this earth.” We all stroke our chins sagely over this.
Tumblr media
The Akrida cop declares that John’s now of little use to them. He threatens a staged car crash during the transport to state prison, which will kill everybody involved. John’s bravado deflates at that, and he’s left once again to stew in regret and other fun human emotions.
Back with Lata and Carlos, we get the dime recap. Lata’s dark secret + bracelet = creepy cold room. Soooo the fix is easy! Carlos presses her to drop her secret. “Lata, you know I am prone to long, slow-build, catharsis-driven theater, but I don’t think we have time for a one-act play here.”
Tumblr media
She brings up her origin story as told in episode 6 “Art of dying.” There was something she didn’t say - someONE she didn’t bring up. Lata tells Carlos about Sania, her family’s housekeeper. Sania was like a parent to her, and one day Lata took some leftover food to share with her. When her father found out, he tried to beat Sania. That’s when Lata hit her father with the oil lamp. Carlos tried to declare catharsis between them, but the room holds fast.
We have to wait for the rest of story-time, because Millie is trying to call Carlos and Lata. They won’t pick up, though! It’s still forced-sharing hour.
Lata was dragged back to the house by her father, and her mother sided with him. Lata, angry, packed up her things and ran away. But Lata’s leaving only protected herself. Her father blamed Sania for what happened and locked her in the cold room one very cold night. Sania froze to death. Lata looks around the room and sees only the terrible ordeal that Sania went through. Carlos pulls her into an embrace and lets her cry. The dark room lifts from them like light and they’re back in the kitchen once more. The bracelet falls off of Lata’s wrist.
They have barely a moment of breathing time before Millie bursts in. She finds them on the floor looking shocked but apparently being part of Monster Club means that some questions are just exhausting to pursue. Millie shrugs it off. They’ve got bigger fish to fry. After all, “Mary’s gonna need [the bracelet] if she’s gonna bust John out of jail.”
Tumblr media
At the precinct, Mary is a COILED TIGER READY TO POUNCE, while the police prepare to move John. Betty confronts her and they fight. It looks like Mary’s doing her early season lone wolf routine, but she announces that she was just playing the role of Betty bait. Uh, Betty distraction? Carlos runs up, announces that “drugs should be legalized,” and helps hold Betty while Lata gives Betty the slap bracelet of doom. Fortunately for everyone present, Betty doesn’t harbor any dark secrets. Instead, she looks around and sees traces of magic everywhere. Green light streams up from every Akrida nearby. Betty’s disbelief falls in one giant domino. I’m impressed at her capitulation, but all she can think of is how to save John.
As John gets hauled out, Mary holds Betty at gunpoint and orders the cops to let John go. While the cops are distracted, Carlos comes in swinging with the lead pipe. They quickly overpower the cops and activate part two of the plan: RUN! Betty promises John that they’ll catch up later. Before they all go, she asks Carlos to deliver a hit so they believe she was unwilling…and the cop-on-the-inside story is laid. (I switch from side-eyeing the ex-fiance dynamic to wondering if Betty’s going to fall prey to the Supernatural blood cannon someday. Hopefully not!)
Betty and Mary connect outside the Clubhouse as Betty returns the bracelet. She’s not too thrilled to learn the truth of the hidden perils in her world. But she’s adjusted remarkably well. She wishes John and Mary well on their second attempt to flee town. John gives her instructions for the magical anti-Akrida tattoo.
Tumblr media
Inside, Lata tells Carlos that she wants to be more open. She tells him that she’s holding one more secret: her parents aren’t dead. Carlos says that Lata’s parents are dead to HIM. We agree! And he ALSO tells her that Mary and John will love her, just like he does. Lata’s story is hers to keep or to tell, and they’re ready to back her no matter what.

Alicent watches HER 10 YEARS-OLD GRANDSON GET BEHEADED and observes her daughter sinks into madness, but unlike Rhaenyra, she defied the freezed broken mother trope by being a steady and ACTIVE political presence throughout the Dance, even after ONLY Aegon II remained to her.
For all intents and purposes, she acted as a regent in her sons’s absence. She was the main political authority in King’s Landing prior to Aegon II’s return from Dragonstone. It was Alicent who negotiated the reclaiming of the Red Keep during the Moon of Madness. It was her who proclaimed a curfew, had the City Watch reformed and had the three pretender kings arrested. It was her who betrothed Aegon II to Cassandra Baratheon and accepted Corlys Velaryon’s fealty on Aegon’s behalf. It was her machinations, along with Larys Strong, that prevented Alyn Velaryon from attacking Aegon II on Dragonstone and succeeded in bringing him back to King’s Landing. Even after Aegon’s return, Alicent remained a power player in his court and a constant presence in his councils.
Post maybe in response to this one (this has become ongoing).
May I introduce you to this post I made way back about Alicent's politicking and plotting?
1st CORRECTION (from this ask): There is no strong evidence to suggest Alicent was taken out of the room before Blood and Cheese killed Jaehaerys. So she watched her grandchild die.
2nd CORRECTION: I don't think it's likely she was there, bc why is there no description of her reaction?
However, I'm not going to retract this entire post bc whether or not she watched this child die, her grief or rage for her own kids still is VERY evident and opposes the asker's claims about her, which I explain below. It doesn't change that most of Alicent's actions during and after the Dance were mostly closely tied to her emotions, particularly her grief and rage, and desire to prevent the deaths of loved ones when actually confronted with the likelihood of that. At the same time, she also still wanted Jaehaera (the very last trueborn green) to risk herself to kill Aegon III for the sheer need to destroy the last of Rhaenyra's line, so...my points from that post continue to stand.
Her watching Jaehaerys die doesn't suddenly prove she kept a cool head for critical moments when she needed to.
Always Remember: If we compare her to Alicent, Alicent is a heavy-duty blood purist who never looked out for other women, even seized power from another woman entirely for herself and her house's patriarchal prestige and power. No matter who Rhaenyra was before King's Landing or after, Rhaenyra was "vulnerable" to this due to her gender's inequitable access to higher positions of power in Westeros. Rhaenyra was never a tyrant before King's Landing and the greens' usurpation.
A)
Alicent also lost her composure several times over her sons:
her negotiations with Rhaenyra over dividing the kingdom (Bastard bloodshed in war), which risked Rhaenyra's further enmity towards her...who insults the other person's dead children when they are trying to negotiate with them?! (On the "purely" pragmatic, practical side, this was dumb as hell, and I mention it in the link above)--Those kids that she, Alicent herself whose deaths Alocent is partly responsible for?! Again, when she said that, she mainly wanted to spite Rhaenyra, but it was a risk!
her wanting to mutilate Aegon (I'm going to repeat this fact several times, along with quotes later) which brings Corlys and Larys against her, and Aegon
her wanting to have Aegon's last trueborn heir, Jaehaera, to kill Aegon III for the sake of Alice's rage over her sons' deaths and losing the war, to spite Rhaenyra one last time.
("Rhaenyra Triumphant")
Tumblr media Tumblr media
("The Hooded Hand")
Tumblr media
"The murder of the last of her sons had turned Alicent’s heart into a stone. None of the regents wished to see her put to death, some from compassion, others for fear that such an execution might rekindle the flames of war. Yet she could not be allowed to take part in the life of the court as before."
("The Hooded Hand")
Tumblr media
So, anon, you're just a liar or a very bad reader due to misogyny blinding you.
B)
Since we are supposedly commenting on Alicent's leadership or political strategizing skills, I'll say that yes, Alicent has that particular strength over Rhaenyra. Her actions during the green council helped the greens get one over Rhaenyra, and she did do those things she listed. It's unfortunate that:
her Andal-Faith traditionalism, its subsequent misogyny, and her internalized and weaponized misogyny against a woman for her own ambition made her unpalatable for me, a prospective fan, from almost the start
that strength comes with the other side-of-the-coin: straight-up blindness to her immortality as well as double standard-ness to actions (kinda like you right now) that leads her to her own horrible end of half going mad with denial and regret...which unfortunately for you, I just find less impressive than a woman getting eaten by her enemies' dragon, sue me.
Also, I don't know, acting as if a woman is inherently better as a person than another woman for NOT breaking down about her kids' death screams a lack of empathy for women and mothers bc you think all women who happen to be in positions of power should pick themselves up by their bootstraps, push away their grief, and continue fighting the good fight. Also, it shows nearsightedness to how family and personal life and one's values can color "public" politics. The two can't really be separated in terms of influence and effect.
Not only did you neglect how Alicent still displays what you complain of (I describe and give a quote a little later here), there doesn't seem to be any room for you to consider how such a thing might color the person's later decisions, as Alicent herself wanted to mutilate Aegon III (she is the one who suggested it) to protect herself and her son from Rhaneyra's supporter. She also did not want to comply with Corlys' suggestions to parley with said rebels specifically because she hated and blamed Rhaenyra for her losses (before Aegon's death) and present danger....meanwhile, who usurped who and used misogyny to do it? ("The Short, Sad Reign of Aegon II"):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once more, she brought about her own end as well, towards her end as well as broadly/in general. Because of that internalized misogyny. We can't pretend that thus was something that guided Alicent into making some critical mistakes and going after Rhaenyra at all.
Again, blinded by your own misogyny.
C)
Take Jaehaerys for a non-Dance example and comparison. His relationship with his kids and his wife sour into two of those daughters' deaths (Daella & Viserra), and he's lucky that out of Daella he got Rhaenyra/the continuance of the house even after Rhaenyra is dead. How he decided:
to sideline and keep his daughters/niece/older sister out of the succession or have some sort of power derived from their own claims
refused to really treat them/pay attention to them
give them autonomy and let them learn politics as Aemon and Baelon probably did
He intentionally wanted to keep the succession male-centered. that was his political move, his suppression of his female family members for his own political winning. They are not distinct, he could not have done one without the other. And it comes to Princess Rhaenys getting passed over in the Council of 101, where he also decided that making the succession built for everyone to comment and decide on (letting the subject decide on the matter of succession more than a king....) was better than continuing to consolidate Targ power....after all, he did before to do the very same, he undoes it all with this....because he thinks power, to stay, needs men-centering....
Do you see what I mean by intelligent, cunning, strategic people still being able to be as stupid as fuck, that stupidity or lack of awareness made up of their perception of self and others, their own abilities, etc.? Alicent is still the one to risk her kids' lives in the endeavor to bring herself, them, and her maiden house prestige and more power.
She also uses Andal succession customs (there are no laws) to push herself forward, but in doing so, she usurped a throne from a woman who had way more followers and dragons...yeah, that was going to go well for her sons. (I already mention this in the link above)
She'd have to ignore the previous king's word (law-breaking, going against tradition, oh how smart and sticking to one's values she is, huh?). Which, yes, IS law, that's how even feudal monarchies work AND that is the whole point of a king/monarch's privilege/power in deciding who their successor is....as Jaehaerys passed over Daenerys for Aemon, Aenys passed Rhaena for Aegon. The value of a king's word is reflected in how only the king/monarch can make bastards, even not their own, legitimate. No one else has this right.
She and you are blinded by misogyny.
D)
Now if you, anon decide you prefer Alicent bc she displayed political acumen, that's fine. We all can be fans or admire different people, and you don't even have to stan anyone while liking a few characters for qualities you admire. But let's not pretend that:
the themes of this story and Fire and Blood and ASoIaF are just about political acumen and how well you can play politics, you let GoT rot your brain otherwise -- remember, love vs duty is rather a more salient topic in ASoIaF
because you display political acumen, you are going to be a better sort of leader than another who displays less. We also need character...she still plunged the country into a war and she also didn't care about any smallfolk so her actions carried with them a careless aristocratic cruelty towards their own suffering. (a rumor that she laughed and mocked the rape and murder of children at Tumbleton...with her disregard for Rhaenyra's "bastard" sons and her willingness to mutilate Aegon III, yes I can very much believe this).
she was perfect or an inherently better person or acted better than Rhaenyra she uses that intelligence against herself in the end by how she, like Jaehaerys, died in painful regret and denial. Hating her the color she herself chose to symbolize her grand endeavor and ambitions/faction and yet also wanting her daughter to murder the boy of the woman she chose to usurp. Go back to section A.
Conclusion
It's funny how you speak about how Rhaenyra brought all that happened to her herself (which is half right and half wrong)...yet neglect or don't know that Alicent is more responsible for her own end and losses. Those final moments with her, Corlys, Larys, and Aegon.
Alicent, like Rhaenyra, is an aristocratic woman looking for power for herself. Unfortunately, she also has some kind of lack of self-awareness of her actions and cherry-picking values that taint her judgment. And she, like Rhaenyra, was made to use the harm or death of a child, resulting in the loss of a capable person on their team. There is a thematic element of "madness" and "evil queen" for both women that get subverted. Alicent dying aggrieved and lost in hatred, Rhaenyra through her paranoia.
But Rhaenyra? Alicent and the greens had pushed her into a place where she lost most things all for the sake of ambition. Who pushed Alicent? Other than patriarchy (which all women must oppose and resist to some degree and some did, including Rhaenyra herself), what did Alicent really have to complain about? Rhaenyra explicitly states that she'd keep her kids alive if Aegon surrendered before any fighting started and Lucerys died. What exactly did Rhaenyra do to her? Meanwhile, I could list several things of the reverse before the usurpation! And the pattern of those things stems from Alicent's belief that she should use her son's patriarchal privilege to become the highest-ranking woman as well as make the Faith/Oldtown even more influential and prestigious than it already was.
Check out this post of an ask that summarizes a little better my points.

Do you ever think you’ll expand/continue Anathema? It’s such a interesting concept and I’d love to see where you’d take the plot!
Yes! Anathema is kind of casually being developed into an actual fic, since it's kind of just a vibe and a collection of themes at the moment - I need to do some research into autopsies, morticians etc, plus there are some pacing issues and convoluted moments that need to be corrected.
I can tell you that Anathema will be a standalone fic, that it will be canon couples, and that there will be a lot more lore regarding supernatural beings.
The Villain of Anathema has been decided on, thankfully, but I'm still up in the air for what I want to do with Bella, with the Clearwaters, with Jacob, with Charlie etc. And whether it's worth bringing Cynthia in for shenanigans - because I do love giving Alice that sisterly dynamic.
I hadn’t expected Freddie to take the Cullens arrival in Forks particularly seriously - mostly loud reminders and the odd lecture to stay away, and that I would be able to slowly convince him that it couldn’t hurt for me to make an offer of friendship.  I was wrong. Freddie banned all contact with each and every single member of the Cullens, and refused to budge - I was restricted to the house; not that I’d ever really been allowed to roam Forks at will, or had any way to travel outside of my ancient bike. Now I wasn’t even allowed to go to the library or go out for snacks - or even pick up milk.  I was under house arrest. If I wasn’t in the basement working - and it was a relatively light week, death-wise, so I was stuck with the cleaning and organising - I was upstairs in the flat. My bedroom had never been so neat, and Freddie did feel at least a little bad for me since there had been no comments about how much online shopping I was doing. Dulcie definitely knew something was up, but wasn’t getting involved - though she had made a point of bringing me over cookies with a wink.  I’d also decided keeping my visions to myself was for the best right now; I didn’t need them misinterpreted or to add any fuel to the anti-Cullen fire. It wasn’t that hard to conceal them - I’d fainted once in the shower (it has to be said that it was because I was seeing one of the Cullens’ hunts from their perspective, and the combination of speed and vertigo hadn’t ended well) - but mostly I could blame my mind wandering.  Right up until I was making dinner and was sucked into a very nice vision of Jasper holding me, and came back to myself with Dulcie panicking and Freddie putting my right hand in a bowl of cold water since I’d apparently just dropped it straight onto the hot plate when the vision hit. That had meant Sue had to come over and bandage me up - a textbook second-degree burn, apparently -and both she and Freddie wanted to know what my vision was about. I’d babbled something about a car accident out near the interstate that they’d accepted, but Freddie kept a careful eye on me after that.  A couple of days later, I woke up to an agonisingly sore hand, a vision that the Cullens were doing their own recon on us, the Blacks, the Clearwaters, and the Swans… And a posey of flowers tucked carefully against my closed bedroom window with a slip of paper simply signed ‘Jasper Hale’.

A day after Ser Otto’s demise, Aemma received a black brocade gown made to match the famous green dress Alicent wore at Aemma’s mother’s wedding feast.
I am your humble servant; the white silk ribbon had written in an elegant Valyrian script.
The handmaiden had been instructed to press her hair with a hot comb and arrange it exactly as Queen Alicent wore it that evening twenty years ago.
Her mysterious ally had gotten the matching jewelry done in silver and rubies that matched her crown.
The Beacon of the Hightower shone green when calling its banners and during wartime.
The symbolism of the queen’s gown had given name to their faction and become her signature color.
And tonight, Aemma rubs salt in the wound by taking her glorious moment and using it as weapon against her.
“Tell your mistress I will do all I possibly can to repay her kindness, May.” Aemma whispered as May, her handmaiden, dressed her.
It was an insult to House Hightower and the Queen Mother especially. And what better way than to wear it for tonight’s feast done in honor of Ser Otto’s memory and as a show of strength on Aegon’s part.
The entirety of Otto Hightower’s household ---including his longtime mistress--- is put to the sword for their negligence.
Their heads will be displayed at tonight’s feast just as Daemon allegedly displayed Ser Otto’s head at Harrenhal yesterday.
Aegon doesn’t care about people seeing him as weak as he is brought to court in his father’s own chair, after all, the heads will distract them all.
At dawn, Daeron Targaryen, Alicent and Alicent’s two brothers were to escort the bones to Oldtown along with most members of their house leaving court ripe for the taking.
Tomorrow Aemma and Jena will begin turning the court against Alicent and turn all those cloaks from green to black while she buried her loathed father.
It would not be easy, but the journey to and from Oldtown would take at least two or three moons given all the fighting still going on in the Reach. A shame Samantha had to go; she was quite fun even Baela liked her, but her husband demanded she go and her stepson/lover as well especially now that word has gotten around about little Ellyn’s toy dragon being the only thing left by his killers.
The most credible and circulated rumor was that Daemon had known who the true killer of the bastard girl was and did not like being framed for it.
There were others, but all of them fell apart when word came that Daemon had been presented Ser Otto’s head by a ratcatcher who claims he saw who killed the little girl.
The real killer is the blood of the king, he had allegedly said.
After that all ratcatchers were arrested and put to death. Cats were to replace them, and most households will have to kill their vermin themselves if they do not have a cat or a dog.
Some had wondered what would happen to all the rat poisons the rat catchers had.
The first toast is interrupted when the ballroom’s doors are opened to her.
No one knew she was coming, and it made it all the better.
Tumblr media
“All rise, for Queen Aemma Targaryen.”
Whoever made that dress had a death wish.
Aemma had mentioned it earlier, but seeing how perfectly it was replicated in black, silver and rubies was an entirely different beast.
The feast had yet to begin and yet when Queen Alicent gave her thanks for their condolences, her speech was interrupted by the arrival of her rival.
“If my position were not on the line, I would be the first to compliment her on this.” Jasper tries not to look proud at this scene he thinks she helped orchestrate. “Who knew the two of you would pull it off so well, darling.”
“She looks like---” someone down the table said and Jena decided to let the court know where her loyalties now lied.
“She looks like a queen.” Jena smiled as her friend passed by them and Aemma nodded in return.
Jena cannot tell who is more spellbound by the sight of Aemma, both Targaryen men cannot seem to care how insulted their maternal family is about it.
Queen Alicent had been told her gooddaughter may be attending and wisely left the chair available. It would have been doubly humiliating to be asked to move.
“I am sorry for your loss, goodmother.” Aemma says the words genuinely which makes it all even worse.
It was common knowledge that the Queen Mother had yet to give her condolences to her gooddaughter.
Jena had been amongst the first to tell her, using her status as the Master of Laws’ wife and Aegon’s mistress to see her.
It had been a shocking sight, Aemma looking so dead inside as she sat by the window contemplating gravity.
I am sorry for your loss, your mother was a good woman, those words had made the young queen turn and give her a look that was in itself a loud cry for help.
Jena was relieved to see her return to life, even if the naïve girl was long gone.
And the woman born from her ashes had come with a vengeance.
“The law says a son comes before a daughter, “Jasper reminds her.
“The law went out the window when Aegon was put on the throne, dearest.”
Aemma’s confidence lasts up until Aegon speaks and announced he would kill Daemon and his men just as he had killed those who had turned a blind eye to his grandfather’s murder.
Tumblr media
Aemond winced at the turn of phrase, but that had not been the source of their greater discomfort.
Every single head had been put on a platter and left at every table like a centerpiece.
Alicent gets the head of Ser Otto’s mistress, Victaria Bulwer, while Aemond got Hightower’s steward and Aegon the head of his grandfather’s sworn shield.
Aemma gets the head of his housekeeper.
It was disgusting to say the least.
“I thought you might like it, Goodwife Megga loved to call you a darkie behind your back.” Aegon said as if Aemma would appreciate it.
But Jena told her that to get Aegon out of the way the moment she is made co-ruler she must be the perfect wife.
“I can feel her prejudice from her stare, thank you.” Aemma swallows her disgust and finds herself losing her appetite.
“Your lady wife should not see such things lest the babe be born stillborn” his mother warned as she tried to drink her wine while Lady Victaria’s green eyes stared at her in horror.
Death before Disgrace.
The words of House Bulwer who hoped Ser Otto would wed the young widow and give her that sought after heir to keep her cousins from taking the keep and lands.
Now that will never happen.
The woman had been disgraced before her death and even after.
“I am sorry, I did not know.” Aegon apologized and had the heads taken away making all of them breathe easier. “Let us hope little Aenys was unaffected by that fuck up.”
Why was he being nice?
“You look beautiful.” Aegon adds with a genuine smile. Aemond narrowed his eyes and hid his irritation with a sip of wine. He will need the whole pitcher if Aegon keeps this show of gentlemanliness up.
What the fuck was going on with him?
Was he giving Aemond and Criston’s advice a try still?
“How did you get your hands on such a dress, your grace?” Alicent asked with a sharp edge to her style of address.
“A gift from a merchant guild to sweeten the pot, they seem to have had trouble getting their petitions acknowledged by the late hand. Something about children being sold to rat pits and brothels.” Aemma answered and set right to work.
With a few well-placed words and a caress ---as Jena taught her yesterday--- she could get Mysaria’s list done before the quickening occurs.

Anyone else ever think about how Alice was being kept in house arrest after the snow storm? And that she was locked in her basement, beaten, for having tried to sneak out to go to Varian & Quirin? (Because her mother wasn't giving her any food or heat). And she got caught? So, Alice didn't even know that Quirin was trapped until like a week later?
Or how Alice's single caught attempt at sneaking out would turn into punishment that lasted on and off for months? And that Alice physically did not know about any of Varian's plans due to the abuse she was facing? & the way she was constantly under house arrest?
Do you think about how Alice finally came running up the path, nearly screaming Varian's name--
just to find everything covered in black rock? The giant hole in the wall? Robotic things covering the ground? The fact that there is no one in Old Corona finally dawning on her? Her crawling down into the basement and finding Quirin alone, and the evidence of all Varian did--and Alice just falls against the amber and cries?
Or do you think about Alice trying to visit Varian in jail for the entirety of season two? About Alice begging, crying, pleading and being ignored by the guards?
Alice trying to get an audience with the king? Pulling every string that her name comes with? Clinging to Daniel and begging him to help?
But how none of it works? And how sometimes, in a poor attempt to make Alice feel 'better' about the situation, the guards would say that varian wasn't 'accepting visitors' instead of saying she simply was banned from the prison? That the King did not trust Alice, the mad girl, in the prison?
And Varian the whole time isn't told that Alice has been trying to see him. He thinks even Alice has abandoned him. He thinks that even Alice wants nothing to do with him.
And then, suddenly there's a take over. And Varian is working with these weird rebels???? And Alice has no idea what's going on because she's been kept in the dark for so long (not by her or his choice)
And Alice tries so hard to get to Varian, but the saporians stop her in her tracks every. single. time. Until finally, one of them leans real close, and snickers, "Do you really think he cared about you? You're meaningless. Useless. Get out of here. He doesn't want to see you, ever." And Yet, Alice, the determined girl she is, still came back.
Do you think about how it wasn't until Alice was being dragged into the mines, as she kicked and screamed for Varian, and she realized as she was thrown into the dark tunnel that he wasn't coming. And the Saporian that dropped her smirked and said: "Varian said he doesn't care what happens to you, blondie."
Do you think about how Alice's biggest fear is being trapped somewhere dark and constricting? How her biggest fear is being trapped underground?
Do you think about how Alice knows that Varian knows that? How Alice is led to believe that he knew yet purposefully sent her to the lowest, darkest part of the mine?
Do you really think about that? Cause I do.

the creel sequences making me insane today <<<<<333333 I’m on my last braincell trying to piece this shit together. There’s so much weird shit going on like what the fuck!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why does Henry seem to have some sort of sheet over his body but not covering his face when Victor gets arrested??? And why doesn’t Alice seem to have one?? She doesn’t seem to, it seems like we can still see the purple of her dress.
Tumblr media
And sure they put sheets over dead bodies but a.) they didn’t cover Henry’s face which they usually do with dead bodies, and b.) HENRY WASNT FUCKING DEAD!!!!!!!!! Why the fuck didn’t they immediately get him medical attention??? There’s THREE cops there, one of which is just standing in the bg and there’s supposedly and in-a-coma child on the floor in critical condition and they just. Put a sheet over him from the neck down?? And just left him laying on the floor, sheet or not???? They didn’t get one of the cops to take him to a hospital??? The ambulance didn’t show up?? Did they think he was dead?? Why?? Like sure there’s not much they can do if he’s laying there unconscious but I feel like the priority should be getting him to a hospital??? Idk it just seems bizarre.
And the scene of victor getting arrested is weird in and of itself for a TON of reasons but one thing that’s weird about it is that it’s not a memory Nancy is seeing- not only was Henry supposed to be unconscious for this scene and therefore wouldn’t even have a memory to show Nancy, but Nancy also isn’t visible in the background. When victor was cradling Henry and Nancy was watching the memory, Nancy was standing in front of the door. Now? She’s not in the shot at all.
This scene of the arrest seems to be Henry’s approximation/imagining of what happened. It’s only being shown to the audience, it’s not a scene that’s being shown to Nancy- and there’s other scenes during the creel sequences that are like this too, ones that play between scenes Nancy is seeing but that she definitely didn’t see (ie one specific shot of Henry in the attic that Nancy 100% did not see) .
And another weird as fuck thing about this scene is the fact that looking at the creel crime scene photos in the newspaper, there’s a.) blood or the bed and b.) Victor’s initials written in blood on the wall. And yet, when Max and Lucas etc explore the creel house, the bedsheets are messy, but have no blood, and the bloody initials on the wall arent present anywhere either.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And yet another weird thing: they didn’t show us Victor’s memories of getting arrested. He doesn’t talk about it at all. It’s such a strange way for ST to present this to us- why not simply show us Victor’s memories of being arrested during his retelling? Why take the bizarrely long and complicated route of “us seeing victor get arrested supposedly during Henry’s memory sequence but he was unconscious and doesn’t even have these memories so it’s just his best approximation and also Nancy Was seeing his memories but isn’t seeing this one, only the audience is seeing it”?
And yet ANOTHER weird thing that I mentioned the other day: who the hell called the cops? Did Victor call them on himself? If so, did they just. Not notice the bizarre lack of blood on the walls despite that later being used as evidence to convict Victor? Why didn’t they immediately take Henry for medical attention? I’m not convinced that the whole “victor gets arrested,” scene actually happened the way we’ve been led to think it did. I think there’s way more at play here, including Brenner’s presence and the lab in general’s presence (because how the hell did Brenner get ahold of Henry after the murders anyway?) and I think that this scene of Victor getting arrested is likely Henry’s best guess at what happened.
And also- it’s so strange to me that during the scene at the dinner table in the sequence with Nancy/Henry’s memories, Henry talks as if he was acting in self defense, as if he had no choice but to act, and that it was almost spur of the moment. But then, the next second, he’s acting like he planned it all out when he’s talking about victor being arrested. But if he supposedly planned it all out, then why did he a.) look confused when the radio turned on during the sequence with Nancy and b.) during Victor’s memories sequence, why did he look scared at the door & why was he doing nervous hand motions?
Anyway! The creels make me insane and I need to finish the full analysis!
