A brief overview on each of these below!

Note: Since each day will have more than one prompt, you don't need to use both of each day's prompts if you'd rather focus on one - while you can use both if you wish, you can also just pick the one you like best, or mix and match prompts from different days if you'd like!

Day 1 (4/27): Drafts

The week starts off with a day dedicated to the drafts that started everything and are the basis for what was later seen in the anime! Here you can use any design or story elements found in concept art and the episode 24 draft scripts (more information on the drafts here, as well as in the scripts of Draft 1 and Draft 2)!

Day 2 (4/28): Anime

Day 2 centers on their dynamic as seen in the original Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995) continuity, where their brief and tragic yet loving and impactful relationship was introduced to the world!

Day 3 (4/29): Manga / Karlshaun

Next up is a day focused on Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's Neon Genesis Evangelion manga and its depiction of Kaworu and Shinji's dynamic, often known as Karlshaun - a take on their relationship that's quite different from the usual, but still compelling and beloved all the same!

Day 4 (4/30): Spinoffs

In order: NGE2; Campus Apocalypse; Petit Eva.

The Evangelion franchise has several spinoffs, from video games such as NGE2 and Shinji Ikari Raising Project to manga like Campus Apocalypse and Legend of the Piko Piko Middle School Students. Day 4 is for exploring Shinji and Kaworu's relationship and shared moments in these spinoffs!

Day 5 (5/1): Rebuild

Day 5 is dedicated to the Rebuild of Evangelion/Evangelion: New Theatrical Edition movies' continuity, where Shinji and Kaworu had a movie centered on them and the concept of Kaworu being in a time loop was introduced!

Day 6 (5/2): 2928 / Post 3.0+1.0

The ending of Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Time showed a glimpse of Kaworu and Shinji as adults (29 and 28 refer to their ages) in the new eva-less world; day 6 is for exploring what their adult life and future might be like!

Day 7 (5/3): Free Day (Kawoshin Day)!

Lastly, the week wraps up on Kawoshin Day with a free day! This is where you can do whatever you'd like that didn't fit any of the week's prompts, or use a prompt you liked that didn't make it in! 💜💙

It’s Utena Tenjou’s birthday, and to celebrate, here are some words on Revolutionary Girl Utena.

For me, there are two seminal works of art from the 90s that make up respective portions of my brain. One is, as I’m sure you’ve caught on by now, The X-Files. The other is actually three works of art which I’ve bundled into one holy trifecta of late 90s art house anime: Neon Genesis Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, and of course, Revolutionary Girl Utena — arguably the least known of all four shows, but in many ways the fairest of them all.

Even if you consider yourself “not into anime,” I implore you to give Revolutionary Girl Utena a try (okay, read this and this first). The only show that has ever come close to sucker-punching me in the gut like The X-Files does is Utena. Its powerful exploration of queer relationships, the patriarchy, adolescence, abuse, misogyny, friendship, and so much more, combined with its surrealist and ephemeral artistry seems practically tailor-made for me at times. And I love its message: that just by virtue of being yourself, you can break the cycle of abuse and patriarchy; you can inspire someone to free themselves. Take my revolution!

when i said that mha ripped off naruto (which i said only to piss off mha stans anyway) I didn't mean to sound like i was praising naruto. it was actually more like a sigh of disappointment, a reaction to seeing that all the problems that naruto had as a show transpired trough mha too and i was tired because watching naruto was enough for me but then i realized that my problem actually is that i can no longer stand watching shonen anime and i chose not to tire myself by cringing at the repetitive tropes and cliches anymore

#demon slayer falls under the same category sadly #actually it was more a combination of these 2 that made me realize that i had enough of this genre #me judging other shonen having as reference only naruto #but look! i watched both mha and demon slayer and my personal point was proven that i would get bored by them #(with the exception of some rare moments that were really good in mha but the bad and cringe moments made me forget abt them) #like i remember crying bcs this dude who trained deku died but then i remembered that a few episodes earlier he ''punished'' #one of his female students by tying her up a ledge and tickling her with a feather :| #LIKE WHY DID YOU NEED TO PUT THAT IN THE STORY? Scott Pilgrim is RGU but straight but also not so straight.

UTENA IS EVERYWHERE!!! So, I rewatched the Scott Pilgrim movie and saw the new show and omg how did I just noticed?

The whole fights against the league of evil exes reminded me so much of the student council and fighting for the rose bride in Utena, the themes those duels hold reminds me also of Utena, in general Scott Pilgrim's themes are similar to Utena's. It is not exactly the same, but it shares enough similarities to say it definitely has to be inspired somehow, theme wise, structure wise and the comics work like Utena's anime while the new show works like Utena's movie it just feels like that.

Also, in the Scott Pilgrim takes off show, Ramona and Scott cannot kiss because of the AK field?? I mean that has to be an Evangelion reference for the AT field .... and likewise, the themes that it holds align as well.
