Week 1: What is Critical Thinking?

My understanding of critical thinking before class was really vague, as I did not think that critical thinking was as important in my daily life. I think because in our generation we don't think as deeply into critical thinking, which are skills that actually makes our lives easier.

But after the class, I totally understand the importance of critical thinking skills on problem solving, analysing, creative thinking, interpretation, evaluation, and reasoning. That we solely need as human beings to have in our daily lives because of how it helps us be more aware of the problems we face in this world.

What I have learnt about mindfulness in the class previously is that mindfulness is something that has always been a concept that has always been talked about but sadly not everyone has especially if you are in an environment where there are alot of different people, personalities and characters.

So how i might intergrate this into my learning environment is that i would kindly be a light to everyone and display good morals and character as a person in the classroom so that my classmates may be inspired to be the best version of theirselves and slowly get better character wise.

It is a challenge not only one must face but a community will face.

An eventful moment i have experienced in class is when I was really quiet and unsure. As it was my first day in class but suddenly the teacher made me feel comfortable as he interacted with each individual in class and made everyone share a little more about themselves which made me really happy as I got the opportunity to learn more about my classmates even though i was shy at first which made me really thankful for the teacher bringing us together as a class.

There was nonchalance in the way Fish sat next to her father, chin resting on her hand. It was a complex act to master, this poised attitude. She had to swallow back the nervousness, the impatience. Today was important -essential, even. Last step before the games, the ranking would determine the sponsors she’d get, and thus, the support she’d receive once in the arena. Not that she doubted her abilities (after all, Fish Lecter already knew the taste of flesh). But she also knew that there was more to the games. Survival often depended on the generosity of wealthy Capitol citizens. 

“I need a 8 or higher,” she said, her edginess only betrayed by the way her jaw was clenched. 8 or higher. Ideally over 10. 

She glanced at her father, and they spoke an unspoken language. The slight frown in her eyebrows was enough to ask for comfort, reassurance. On the projected screen, Caesar was still talking about gossip. 

Fish thought that she had done well, during the evaluation. The game maker had seemed interested by her little display. “I think they liked it,” she mused, more to convince herself, “I hope I made an impression.”
