adams 2023/24 season is a tribute to yelims 2022/23 season and therefore he will have a redemption skate with a pb in the free tonight in this essay i will...
okay lets start of with the music adams free music this season includes 'mercy' which, as we all know, was yelims sp music last season
now getting into the actual season: both had very strong starts to their season, both won their challenger/other intl assignments and both did better than expected in the gp (adam two gold medals, yelim gold + silver) where both won against the reigning world champion (yelim against kaori at nhk, adam against shoma at coc) both then qualified for gpf where... things did not go well (both were last after the short bc both popped a jump) but both got back to their earlier form at their respective nats (yelim got silver, adam won nats) and then they both medaled at 4cc/euros (adam gold, yelim silver) and then worlds sp was a nightmare for both (both had issues with their lutz and their combo) which ended with yelim being in the 2nd group in the free and adam in the 1st group for the free after being serious medal contenders now yelims 2023 worlds is something that We Do Not Talk About bc it did not get better in the free but yelim did then go to wtt where after a disappointing short she ended the season with an amazing redemption skate (that made me cry in public) and a pb in the free obviously this season wtt is not happening therefore in order to complete his yelim tribute adam will come back extremly strong in the free tonight (maybe not medal as we would have hoped before the sp but a strong end to the season nonetheless)

I feel very vindicated today in trying to tell people that the Germans don't throw vault difficulty when it wont change anything and that Seitz and Schaefer were likely going to pull out their higher D vaults for worlds.
If you see a German and wonder why they're vaulting a FTY think... would them doing a harder vault change the results of this meet significantly for them?
Did Helen Kevric need a DTY to win German Jr. Nationals? No she won it by 3 points without it.
Did Seitz need a DTY to win German Nationals? No she won that handily too.
Did Sarah Voss need a DTY to secure a team medal at 2022 Euros? Yes, so she did a beautiful one.
Did they need those vaults to qualify to Tokyo? Yes.
Will they need those vaults to qualify to Paris? Very much yes.
The reason the German program can foster long careers in their gymnasts is a realistic understanding of what their goals are and not doing more difficulty than they need to do which might cause an injury.

hi, i´m looking for england 4-0 northern ireland i think is euro qualifiers 2021 thank you in advance
England hosted the 2021 (or 2022) Euros, so they wouldn't be playing qualification matches.
I think you are talking about another match. Please be accurate in your description as I cannot possibly guess what some stranger on the internet is thinking, and I certainly cannot remember every scoreline in every match.

“The only thing worse than being blind is having sight but no vision.” – Hellen Keller
Republican Congresswoman Carol Miller has a quintessentially American political biography. As the owner of a bison farm in Huntington, West Virginia, Miller first became active in state politics, gaining election to the West Virginia House of Delegates in 2006. During her 12 years of service at the state level, Miller rose to the position of majority whip. In 2018, she ran for Congress, decisively winning West Virginia’s 3rd district seat on a pledge to “cut the bull” in Washington. She currently sits on the powerful Committee on Ways and Means.
Separately, The Hill is one of the leading politically focused news organizations in the US. Founded in 1994 to cover the inner workings of Congress and the intersection of politics and business, The Hill is known for its non-partisan style, a rare distinction in today’s hyper-politicized media environment. With more than 100 journalists and tens of millions of monthly readers, The Hill is considered an essential resource for those in the Beltway. In 2021, the company was sold to Nexstar Media for $130 million.
When someone of Miller’s stature takes to the editorial page of The Hill to address the topic of energy, we pay close attention. Imagine our dismay when we read this last week (emphasis added throughout):
“Hydrogen is often described as the future of clean and affordable energy. There are multiple ways it can be developed, but the most effective way is through a process called carbon capture utilization and storage. This process takes coal and natural gas emissions and converts them into hydrogen. At the beginning of 2022, hydrogen was supplied almost entirely from fossil fuels. More than 70 percent was generated from natural gas and 27 percent generated from coal. In the last year, my home state of West Virginia’s coal and natural gas production rose 5.7 percent and 6 percent, respectively. Using natural gas and coal emissions to create hydrogen energy is the perfect example of a comprehensive energy solution.”
We are not sure which version of ChatGPT was used to create this gibberish, but Miller’s language model needs a new training set. There is so much wrong with what she wrote that it is difficult to know where to begin—we are stunned that The Hill would publish it.
Hydrogen is typically made by reforming natural gas or by using an electrolyzer to split water, not by “a process called carbon capture utilization and storage.” When people refer to “natural gas and coal emissions,” they almost universally understand this to mean carbon dioxide (CO2). There is no “H” in CO2, of course, which makes Miller’s prose indistinguishable from alchemy.
After having read the entire opinion piece a half-dozen times, our best guess is that Miller must have been referring to the prospect of turning coal bed methane into hydrogen via steam reforming, burning the hydrogen thus produced as a fuel source, executing a water-gas shift reaction to convert the byproduct carbon monoxide into CO2, capturing the resulting CO2 emissions for storage, and having the federal government pay handsomely to have all this done. But honestly, who knows?
Whatever Miller was advocating for, the issue that provoked her to take to the pages of The Hill is a high-stakes one: an upcoming and highly anticipated rule-making announcement by the US Department of Treasury that will decide who qualifies for some of the most lucrative (and scientifically dubious) tax credits codified into law by the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 (IRA). The race is on to pilfer scores of billions from the US taxpayer in the name of chasing green energy unicorns, and there is a full-blown administrative brawl underway between the various factions trying to get theirs while the getting is good. It is a story of cronyism, a failure to learn from Europe’s energy madness, and a familiar scheme guaranteed to incinerate heaps of the public’s money. Let’s head to the swamp and expose some of the disturbing details.

2 things:
If I were the rest of team GB and my chance of going to the Olympics rested solely on England, I’d be so pissed. I have no clue why they do the team GB thing.
Also how England went from Euros winners in 2022, WC finalists, and now (probably) not qualifying for the Olympics is both surprising and not. Surprising bc they’ve done so well at the major tournaments the last two years and them not making the Olympics would be wild. Not because they’re probably fucking EXHAUSTED!! No time off for years.
(Also play Beth plz)

Luftwaffe will get the largest share of Germany's defense increase of 100 billion euros
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 06/04/2022 - 16:34 in Military
This week, the German government coalition agreed that the special fund announced by Chancellor Olaf Scholz will provide the German military forces with an investment of 100 billion euros, with more than 40% of this amount allocated to the German Air Force (Luftwaffe).
The parties involved with the Bundestag (German Parliament) received the economic plan, which lists exactly which weapons projects should be financed and in what amount of the old special fund.
With 40.9 billion euros, most of the funds go to air projects, which are grouped in the chapter "Dimension Luft". This term has been agreed, since not only the German Air Force, but also the Army and Navy will receive investments from this budget item to finance their air programs.
Tumblr media
Within the "Air Dimension", the acquisition of up to 35 Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II as successor to the Panavia Tornado, as well as the development and purchase of up to 15 Eurofighter ECR for electronic combat, represent the majority. The acquisition of these aircraft has already been specifically addressed in March of this year. The F-35A Lightning II becomes the first poaching of the German Air Force. The role as an ECR fighter is new. The industry has not yet developed, produced and qualified this version of Eurofighter. Germany has the NATO alliance's obligation to provide NATO with ECR capabilities, if necessary, so in any case, it needs a successor to the Luftwaffe ECR Tornado.
Tumblr media
Eurofighter must receive new investments to replace Tornadoes.
This week, the successor to the CH-53G/S as a heavy transport helicopter was decided in favor of the CH-57F Chinook. After the BAAINBw (Federal Office of Equipment, Information Technology and Use of the Bundeswehr) interrupted the tender for the award of the new type of helicopter in September, on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Defense (BMVg), claiming that the offers submitted by the two manufacturers are not economical, enough money is now available for purchase thanks to the
Tumblr media
The army needs a light support helicopter and wants to introduce an H145M class helicopter. The German Air Force is already flying 15 H145M, which are mainly used for Bundeswehr special forces.
The Navy will receive money from the item "Dimension Luft" for the purchase of more maritime reconnaissance assets. By the end of September 2021, she had already ordered five Boeing P-8A Poseidon through a bilateral business between governments (Foreign Military Sales), between the federal government and the U.S. government. But this number has already been considered very low in advance. The acquisition of additional aircraft significantly strengthens the capacity for underwater defense and maritime surveillance and reconnaissance.
Tumblr media
Other allocations of 19.3 billion euros for the navy and 16.6 billion euros for the army will see the purchase of new ships and submarines and the development of a successor to the Marder infantry combat vehicle, as well as the construction of a space-based early warning system, as shown in the document.
Investments from the special fund also flow to the German-French-Spanish project FCAS (Future Combat Air System), for new radars, a new air position guidance system, ground air defense and Heron TP drone weaponry.
Tumblr media
Artistic conception of the FCAS.
With the 100 billion package, politicians show after Russia's attack on Ukraine that it also wants to equip the Bundeswehr according to its national alliance and defense mission. Now it is up to the industry to provide the services and products that still need to be agreed in the contract in time and with the necessary specifications. And the Bundeswehr faces the challenge of not underestimating the integration of the new systems quickly in order to be able to use them effectively.

Women’s Euro 2022: Every sport deserves its Ada Hegerberg
From a five-year exile from international football to pressing on gender bias issues to returning in Norway colors and spreading the message of love over hate, Ada Hegerberg is one of the stories ahead of the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022.
Tumblr media
There she stood. Raising her rainbow armband in the sky above. In honor of those who had suffered at the hands of hate in Oslo. With a message. “#Love”. Ada Hegerberg was playing in only her third game since returning back to the Norwegian national team after five long years when the country capital was dealt with a tragedy. The shootings at a popular LGBTQ+ venue, the Herr Nilsen jazz club and another pub on June 25.
With the women’s national team playing against New Zealand later on the same day, Hegerberg opened the scoring and raised her rainbow captain’s armband as a tribute to those that had suffered. A gesture she explained post-match on her social media using just one word.
This was Hegerberg’s fourth goal in her third match since returning to play for the national team after a five-year hiatus. The 26-year-old had decided not to don the national shirt in her protest of gender inequality issues at the Norwegian Football Federation (NFF). “(NFF) took a train back to the 1800s and stayed there,” Hegerberg had said in her ESPN+ documentary (My Name is Ada Hegerberg), recalling the frustrations that had led to her decision back in 2017.
In the 42-minute documentary, it is revealed that the Norway women’s national team were subjected to issues such as getting to play on inferior pitches than their male counterparts, boots arriving late, and when they did arrive, they were often wrong-sized. All of these while they played the 2019 World Cup qualifiers. Even though the NFF was one of the first in Europe to equalise pay between men and women’s team players, Hegerberg has insisted that the problems are beyond the monetary amounts received.
She mentions in a section that a certain coach had asked her to hush up when she raised gender bias issues to the NFF directors. It would all take a toll on her as the Norway international would later mention she had nightmares during that phase. With the administrators taking no action in the direction of improving the standard of facilities for the women’s team, Hegerberg decided to part ways with the national team. A decision that evoked criticism, even from some of her Norway teammates.
The Norwegian FA would paint the blame on Hegerberg, stating that her decision took them by surprise whereas the player claimed that she had put this situation into the federation’s head months ago. Norway would go into the 2019 World Cup without Hegerberg and reach the quarter-finals stage before losing 3-0 to England.
To understand who Norway and the World Cup was missing, one only needs to look at the honours list of 23-year-old Ada Hegerberg pre-tournament, in the summer of 2019. Five league titles, four Coupe de France and four Champions League titles with Lyon that included a 30-minute hat-trick in the 2019 final. Hegerberg, who won the Ballon D’or in 2018, also surpassed Anja Mittag as the all-time highest goal scorer in the Women’s Champions League in 2019. She also became the quickest to score 50 goals in Men’s and Women’s Champions League history.
For Norway, she had scored 38 goals in 66 appearances (ninth highest among women) and reached the finals of the 2013 Euros. Her absence only made the international game poorer and Hegerberg restored it to its full glory in her first appearance for the national team in five years by scoring a forty-minute hat-trick against Kosovo in the 2023 World Cup qualifiers. “I missed it, I missed it a lot,” Hegerberg told The Guardian about her return to the national team.
“Playing for your country, representing your country, is fantastic. Something that sticks deep is the connection with the new generation. I remember the link up with all these young girls and boys when with the national team, feeling that you have a connection and are inspiring them, that was a big deal to me.”
Hegerberg expressed that she felt it was the right time to make a return, with the Norwegian FA being led by its first women president in Lise Klaveness, a former Norway international herself. “She has been very clear that there’s been a lot of changes in the system, new people in, that have helped create new dynamics,” the 26-year-old said in her Guardian interview when asked of her conversations with the newly appointed Norwegian FA chief. “Ultimately, we could have talked about the situation forever, but it’s all about being in this together now. I want to be a part of it again and to try and help lift things even more, because obviously there’s always more to do.”
Hegerberg’s time with the Lyon Football Club is vital to understand her perspective on the changes that need to happen for girls and women playing football for Norway. Lyon have the most decorated women’s football team in Europe, with eight Champions League titles. The French club under the presidency of Jean-Michel Aulas have consciously worked on creating mirror facilities and providing the same resources for their men’s and women’s team. From training/strength and conditioning venues to the kits, from playing turf quality to travel and accommodation facilities. Lyon have set the standard for even bigger football powers in Europe to follow.
Tumblr media
Lyon’s win in the 2021/22 Women’s Champions League Final against Barcelona was indicative of how far off they are as a team from clubs with even bigger resources. A 3-1 campaign conclusion saw Hegerberg score the second goal of the match and another one later that was ruled offside. She had previously scored a goal in each of the two semi-final legs against PSG. A sizzling silverware contribution having missed professional football for 18 months owing to an ACL injury.
And with her four goals in four games for Norway since her return, the national team and their fans have the star player they would want going into the Women’s Euro 2022. So does the sport. Ada Hegerberg isn’t just one of the very best at football but also someone who brings the best out of football. A player who walked away from the international game at the peak of her powers to press on the larger issue she felt plagued the game in her country. The kind of player the game deserves, perhaps one that every game deserves. The kind whose legacy isn’t defined by their own career but by those who follow.
In a recent chat with the Los Angeles Times, on being asked what she wanted her legacy to be, Hegerberg’s answer was short, optimistic, and personal. “I just really hope I did everything for my sport to be appreciated, respected and left in a better way than what I found it in. It’s much bigger than me.” (Rahul Pandey - The Indian Express)

2023 Worlds (and 2024 Olympic Qualification) thoughts that are half baked and way too early...
This is not so much a hopes and dreams rumination but more alarm bells and red flags... so take it with a grain of salt.
I feel there is a strong possibility that Team China will not qualify a WAG team for Paris. This is especially true if they decide to spread their "A" team between Worlds and the Asian games as they seem intent on doing. They made the Team Final at 2022 worlds largely on the back of their bars performance and OYS's beam.
I tend to trust this reddit user who has usually had the best grasp on the prosects of the Chinese team:
Tumblr media
Similarly I have doubts about France qualifying. I've had questions about MDJDS's injury status since 2022 Worlds and in general she hasn't looked to be in her top form in quite some time. Aline Freiss apparently has a foot injury that is limiting her to bars at an upcoming WCC and Marine Boyer was competing sick at Euros. France does not have a lot of depth and it feels like they could collapse as well.
I have concerns about Germany but I think they're much more stable and both Schaefer and Voss coming back give them more padding. I'm still nervous.
If one or two of those countries do not qualify a team for Paris the 2024 World Cup circuit becomes a blood bath especially as I strongly suspect that's where any neutral Russians that do qualify for Paris will come out of.
Recent video of Shilese Jones makes me more comfortable about her prospects--I'd gotten concerned because she missed several camps and seemed to drop off from posting training videos on social media. I think she and Jordan Chiles will likely be the the top US AAers going into worlds. I feel like Jordan will have a Cheng by Paris but I am not sure if the time frame puts it on track for 2023 Worlds.
Jade is an interesting case and I think her stock raises or falls based a lot on other people than seems to be the conventional wisdom. She's certainly a vault and floor medal threat but no longer a certainty. Jordan is outscoring on on floor and Jade is beating her on vault by virtual of difficulty that could go away based on the timing of that Cheng upgrade. Joscelyn Roberson feels like a much bigger threat to Jade's position than a lot of people have accounted for as they are very similar gymnasts outside of the fact that Roberson is unusable on uneven bars and Jade is. When I say that Jade's position may come down to other pieces what I explicitly mean is if they have 4 other pieces that mean they don't even have to consider using Jade's bars then Roberson may overtake her. How much her decision to continue in the 2024 NCAA season impacts her 2024 Olympic path I think depends a lot on what she does. If we're talking something limited like vaulting at home OSU meets that's one thing. If we're talking about a full participation in the NCAA season as she has before I think that's ... unwise.
I do not think that Suni is competing this year. She's posting clips of training videos that don't look nearly as positive to me as others seem to view them. Kidney issues do not resolve quickly and the prospect of training uneven bars while on medication that makes you nauseous just seems daunting to me. I also question if she's had the time to rebuild the stamina needed for an elite bars routine.
Leanne is hard for me to pin down. I think that deciding not to defer her 2024 NCAA season puts her at a disadvantage for Paris but I also think that from a whole person/rest of her life point of view it was likely a wise decision. She's pre-med and taking a year off in the middle of pre-med could derail her post gymnastics life quite severely and her athletic achievements wont help her much in that career to balance out the drawbacks. I worry about burn out, exhaustion, the number of hard landings involved in a long NCAA season before the Olympic trials process and just the lack of time. But I also generally am not inclined to count her out. I just think she has an uphill path.
I've decided that I'm going to try not to talk about Konnor anymore outside of competition results as I believe she likes playing with the gymternet in deeply unhealthy ways.
I do not think SImone Biles is trying for Paris. I could be wrong but that's my feeling.
I don't think Gabby Douglas should be considered in any picture unless and until she actually competes a single routine.
Oksana Chusovitina's path to Paris is going to be a nail biter. I'm not counting her out but I think people need to brace themselves.
The British seem on track at the moment but I am dubious about the "Amanar" training videos we've seen. Kinsella's was quite frankly worrying and Achampong's clip was cut in a way that I don't think you could say anything about it. They're already qualified for Paris and I think it's just a matter of keeping their core gymnasts healthy until then.
Speaking of healthy... Italy is a mess and seems determined to break everyone early in a season for no reason. At the moment I feel like they'll qualify for Paris but I see a 2022 Worlds situation repeating at 2023 Worlds.

OFMD Decembverse 2022 Information
Hello everyone, and welcome to OFMD Decembverse! It’s time to try our hand at some poetry. Please read the entire thread before participating! Our hashtag: #ofmd12verse (alternate: #ofmddecembverse).
First, link to the ao3 collection for this event: https://archiveofourown.org/collections/ofmd12verse22/profile
Official Twitter for this event:
Information:
OFMD Decembverse is a month-long prompt-based challenge to write some poetry for your fandom. Poetry is seen as something intimidating and “not for people like us” to most people, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. Poetry is for everyone.
Each day of December will have two prompts associated with it: A type of poetry (with instructions provided for how to write it) and a lesser-known quote from the show Our Flag Means Death that you can use as inspiration.
You do not have to follow either prompt if you do not want to. You can choose to focus only on the poetry type or the quote, or say screw it and write the poetry you want, how you want. If it’s a poem related to OFMD (or that uses these prompts), it qualifies for this challenge.
This challenge is taking place on Ao3, Twitter, and Tumblr.
Note: Some of these poetry styles (such as Shi) were developed to only work well in certain languages. I will be posting ways to adapt these to English for those who are interested. I don’t think poetry should have to be Euro-centric just because this is a predominantly English-speaking fandom.
Prompt List:
Day 1: Slam: “Wait until you hear about my life as an accountant.” Day 2: Ballad: “I loves me a thief.” Day 3: Sonnet (Iambic Pentameter): “The love of a pet makes a man weak.” Day 4: Pastoral: “We’re gonna have fun today, and that’s an order.” Day 5: Terza Rima: “If I can help this crew grow as people, then I’ve succeeded in being a pirate captain.” Day 6: Ottava Rima: “You should have stayed still, that’s kinda on you.” Day 7: Enclosed rhyme: “The rest was just gravity.” Day 8: Soliloquy: “So this whole time you were a woman?” Day 9: Blank Verse: “I’ve got more riches than you can shake a fucking stick at!” Day 10: Free Verse: “I never said that they floated.” Day 11: Ode: “You all look the same, you know.” Day 12: Lyric: “Is this all there is?” Day 13: Ballade (not the same as Ballad): “A widow’s life isn’t nearly as bad as it’s made out to be.” Day 14: Villanelle: “Mutiny is a-brewin’.” Day 15: Narrative Poetry: “I can’t believe you made me do this.” Day 16: Dissonance: “Since we’re on the subject of bad vibes…” Day 17: Assonance: “We love an audience.” Day 18: Satirical: “I’m a dirty, filthy murderer!” Day 19: Haiku (or Tanka): “And you cried all the time, and liked to pick flowers.” Day 20: Elegy: “Murder is a natural cause.” Day 21: Imagery: “We could’ve made magic.” Day 22: Alliteration: “Knives are knives, meat’s meat.” Day 23: Free Verse: “I heard the most insane rumor.” Day 24: Couplet: “You don’t get food if you’ve been invaded.” Day 25: Shi Poetry (see guide for English interpretation of rules): “I’m the Black Cat of Death.” Day 26: Fable: “Read it and weep, my friend! Adventure awaits!” Day 27: Ghazal: “God’s not a fan.” Day 28: Limerick: “The vengeancer and the vengeancee.” Day 29: Tercet: “You’ll sign a confession to that extent, hmm?” Day 30: Monorhyme: “Avast ye!” Day 31: Epic: “My Wondrous Journey: A Life at Sea.”
Rules: 1. Please tag properly and liberally for common/reasonable triggers. Mark explicit verse as explicit for those of us who browse social media at work.
2. No racism/homophobia/transphobia that isn’t both tagged AND used in the storytelling process (such as to express discomfort with these concepts or to show characters being victims of these concepts).
3. If your poetry is explicit, tag that shit please!
4. Don’t worry about getting it perfectly right, poetry is about expressing yourself and feeling free as fuck while doing it.
Frequently Asked Questions:
What if I've never written poetry before/am not very good? Poetry is one of the oldest art forms in the world. People used poetry to pass down wisdom, stories, and share their culture before they could write. It is truly for everyone, including you. It has a stereotype for being gatekept and that only certain people can appreciate it, but I promise that that is a lie. If you can type words, you can do this.
Do I have to participate in every day/prompt? No, and it's likely that it will be really difficult to keep up with them all. Do what speaks to you and makes you happy.
What if I don't want to make the kind of poetry in that day's prompt? Then screw it, pick another kind that speaks to you. This challenge is supposed to help you learn to express yourself in different ways, but if you can't express yourself properly through a haiku or a sonnet, do something else that speaks to you. All poetry is good poetry.
Do I have to follow the quote prompt for each day? No. Some people don't know where to begin, so I've provided quotes from the show that generally aren't used/referenced much in fandom. But if you have a better idea you are obligated to use that one instead, because again, expressing yourself through verse is the most important part.
Do my poems have to rhyme? No, not all poetry rhymes, and some kinds explicitly don't.
Can my poetry be explicit/sexy? Hell yeah. Just tag that shit, please.
Can I participate by writing for other fandoms? Yes! While this challenge was created with OFMD in mind, all fandoms could use a nice injection of verse in them. All I ask is that you use at least one of the prompts for that day (be it the poetry type or quote) so it relates to this challenge in some way. I know that many people also write for WWDITS and those fandoms are more than welcome here. I purposely chose quotes that aren't a direct reference to characters in the show so that you could branch out.
Do I have to write a poem about the exact context of the quote? No, absolutely not. It can be about anything. The quote is just there to get your juices flowing.
Where can I post my work? Ao3: This collection is the place to post it. Twitter: Use the tag #ofmd12verse OR #ofmdDecembverse (the first one is neater in my opinion). The main account will retweet works under those tags. Tumblr: Use the tag #ofmd12verse OR #ofmdDecembverse (the first one is neater in my opinion). The main account will reblog works under those tags.

Group E Breakdown
Expected to move on: USA, Netherlands
Expected to exit in group stage: Portugal, Vietnam
United States
See this Post! https://www.tumblr.com/andiessoccerblog/721584664034361344/uswnt-roster-drop-june-30-2023?source=share
Netherlands
FIFA Ranking: 8
Reputation:
The Netherlands won the 2018 Euros and reached the final of the 2019 World Cup, but in 2022 they dropped from 4th place to 8th place in the FIFA world rankings. This is a result of a team who has a solid base, but suffers if its stars are not available. Some of their strongest players aren’t playing at their best any more, and their extremely capable goalie from 2019, Sari Van Veenendaal, has retired, leaving huge shoes to fill. Additionally, the coach that led them to the 2019 World Cup final has since taken a job at England, leaving the team in the hands of less-experienced and very recent addition, Andries Jonker. Their most important game in the group will be the repeat of the 2019 final, Netherlands v. USA, where the Dutch walked away with silver.
Player Pool:
Netherlands’ stars from the 2019 World Cup are in the team’s midfield: Lieke Martens and Danielle Van de Donk. I would normally include Vivianne Miedema, but she was ruled out of the tournament with an ACL injury. The team will need to rely on veterans Sherida Spitse (captain), Shanice van de Sanden, and Jill Roord to pull them past the group stage.
2019 WWC Performance:
The Netherlands skyrocketed into the final this year, winning their group and finding results in every game in the elimination round, except for the USA. Their game against Sweden went to extra time, but they showed the grit and talent to make it to the final.  They had an impressive number of goalscorers, with the top being Vivianne Miedema, and the goalie Sari Van Veenendaal won the tournament’s Golden Glove award, and is my Netherlands MVP.
Portugal
FIFA Ranking: 21
Reputation:
It will surprise most people that Portugal is also a World Cup debutante–they are the highest FIFA-ranked debutante team– their inclusion this year is due to one of the extra European confederation spots in the expanded field. Despite never having qualified, Portugal has been a staple in the women’s game for years as they host the Algarve Cup, a yearly international invitational tournament that is considered a “Mini World Cup” that has run since 1994– making it the second longest running women's soccer tournament, other than the World Cup itself. Portugal will likely beat fellow debutante Vietnam in their group, but will likely not find results in games against the USA and the Netherlands, the gold- and silver-medalists of the 2019 World Cup.
Player Pool:
Portugal has several veteran players with over 100 caps, but there isn’t a front-runner that has scored massive amounts of goals for the country. FIFA pinpoints Dolores Silva as the player to watch, a dynamic midfield veteran that scored a couple goals in their path to qualify for 2023.
2019 WWC performance:
Did not qualify
Vietnam
FIFA Ranking: 33
Reputation:
After narrowly missing out on both the 2015 and 2019 World Cup, Vietnam finally qualified for 2023, and followed up their qualification by winning the 2023 Southeast Asia Playoffs, in which fellow debutante the Philippines didn’t make it out of their group. To help the growth of women's soccer in their country, there is a semi-professional league  that almost all of the players are in.  An interesting twist in their qualification is that some of their games were against Asian teams that were still suffering substantial player unavailability due to covid–but Vietnam’s luck ran out when the country got placed in this group with the USA and the Netherlands.
Player Pool:
Since almost all of the team plays domestically, there isn’t a lot known about the team. Captain Huỳnh Như and midfielder Nguyễn Thị Tuyết Dung are the leading scorers.
2019 WWC performance:
Did not qualify

Hourly labor costs in the EU increased by an average of 3.4% per year, according to Eurostat data for the third quarter of 2022. Against this slight average increase, Bulgaria stands out with a record jump of over 16%. The largest increase was in the mining industry - 14.2%.
"Inflation is expected to decrease, but the desire to increase wages is also expected. Employers will take into account the shrinking of the active workforce. A recession is expected in major economies. This means that some Bulgarians in low positions abroad will return in our country, which will increase the elasticity of the labor supply in Bulgaria. This can hold back the increase in wages. It will continue, but at a moderate pace," said Assoc. Dr. Shteryu Nozharov, economic advisor of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce.
According to him, it is difficult to retain personnel in the hotel industry because it is a seasonal job. "Companies increase salaries when they want to keep their employees. In Bulgaria, the salaries of people with executive functions are low, and those with strategic functions are close to European ones. 100,000 people receive more than 2,000 euros," he pointed out.
In his words, businesses are set to raise wages because of inflation and the shrinking workforce. "Information technology and finance sectors have the highest incomes because they can work remotely. Maximum insurance income pushes both high and low wages up. Employers are looking for maximum profit, but this is done by keeping high the qualified personnel," Nozharov also commented.

OFMD Decembverse (@ofmd12verse) / TwitterOFMD Poetry Prompt Challenge for December 2022.TWITTER
