Esports Illustrated: "Activision Blizzard Reportedly let go of 83% of Esports Staff"

On Sunday, January 28, the Call of Duty League Boston Breach Major I tournament concluded. It was an incredible event, with Toronto Ultra coming out victorious in a 4-1 victory over Atlanta FaZe. However, just two days later, Activision Blizzard have reportedly let go of 60 out of the 72 staff in their esports division, leaving just 12 employees. This is a cut of 83%, and sees some of the most talented members of the esports community without work.

Free Fire World Series 2024

As per FFWS 2024 roadmap, Free Fire will introduce FFWS Southeast Asia (SEA) 2024. The objective behind this is to support local teams as well as provide a larger platform for emerging professional teams. The regional league will showcase two major tournaments, including FFWS SEA Spring and FFWS SEA Fall. The spring season will kick off on the 22nd of March 2024 and will end on May 26, 2024.

Team Attack All Around (AAA) from Thailand successfully established itself as the Free Fire world champion after a brilliant comeback at the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) 2022 Sentosa. A brilliant performance in the last round, made Team AAA successfully beat EVOS Phoenix, which since the 2nd round has been at the top of the standings. And two teams from Indonesia, EVOS Divine and Echo Esports that competed at FFWS 2022 Sentosa should be happy to be in 5th and 8th place.

Dramatic victory of Attack All Around team at FFWS 2022 Sentosa!

Constant performance in the six rounds played was the key to Team AAA's success in winning FFWS 2022 Sentosa. The team from Thailand was stable in placement and kills throughout the match that was held last night. Even though they only got 1 Booyah, this team's worst record was only ranked 5th in the 5th and 6th rounds. The addition of a high aggressiveness of 42 kills or an average of 6 kills per round made Team AAA points above EVOS Phoenix which successfully won 2 Booyah.

As the champion, Team AAA successfully took home a prize pool of $500,000, and the runner-up EVOS Divine earned $250,000. The two Indonesian representatives were EVOS Divine ($90,000) and Echo Esports ($80,000).

The performance of the two Indonesian teams can actually be called quite good. Unfortunately both teams often have to lose when they meet their strong competitors like EVOS Phoenix and AAA. However, the rankings of 5 and 8 are slightly better than the results of the FFWS 2021, where at that time two Indonesian representatives, EVOS Divine and FR Bravo, had to be happy at 8th and 11th place.

Akuma Gameplay — Street Fighter 6

Capcom has released the official Akuma Gameplay Trailer. Akuma will be available on May 22, 2024. Here are some additional notes about the upcoming release.

Fight with style when Outfit 3 hits the clothing rack for all Year 1 Characters, including Rashid, A.K.I., Ed, and Akuma. Year 1 Ultimate Pass owners will automatically receive these including their colors 1-10 on May 22.

The moves they are a-changin’ as the highly anticipated battle balance updates for all characters hit the streets. We’ll have more details to share about this in the upcoming weeks.

Check out the new digs with the newest stage in Street Fighter 6, Enma’s Hollow, where Akuma resides to continue his hellbent training. Year 1 Ultimate Pass owners will automatically receive this stage on May 22.

Now on to a sample of some of his exhilarating and demonic moves:

Gou Hadoken: Akuma’s infamous fireball is back and can be charged up to blast a “red fireball” that gives him more options on hit or block.

Ashura Senku: Like his previous iterations, Akuma uses Ashura Senku to glide on the battlefield cloaked in shadows.

Adamant Flame: One of Akuma’s new moves, where he performs a forward thrust engulfed in flames. This move is useful in combos and for exploiting vulnerable opponents due to its long reach.

Messatsu Gohado: Akuma’s Level 1 Super Art where he fires a highly concentrated ball of Satsui no Hado.

Empyrean’s End: Akuma’s Level 2 Super Art where he turns the Satsui no Hado into a powerful flame and ignites it within the opponent.

Sip of Calamity: Akuma’s first Level 3 Super Art where he throws opponents on the ground face-first and follows up with a single devastating blow.

Shun Goku Satsu or “Raging Demon”: This second Level 3 Super Art can only be performed when his Vitality is low enough for a Critical Art and can be used to end combos. This time, he allows you to see what happens during the one second worth of nightmares.

Akuma will be unlocked for owners of the Year 1 Character Pass, Year 1 Ultimate Pass, Deluxe Edition, or Ultimate Edition on May 22. Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks!
