Stephen Shames had just turned 20 when he visited the headquarters of the Black Panther party in Oakland, California, and showed some of his recent photographs to Bobby Seale, co-founder and main spokesman for the organisation. Though Shames was still finding his way as a photographer, Seale liked what he saw and decided to use some of the pictures in the Black Panther newspaper. So it was that a young white guy from Cambridge, Massachusetts became the official chronicler of the Black Panthers from 1967 to 1973, documenting their community programmes, protests, rallies, arrests and funerals at close hand.
“The Panthers were never a black nationalist organisation,” says Shames, now 74. “They formed alliances with many black writers and activists and their whole legal team was white. They were not out to get white people, as the American government insisted. They were a revolutionary organisation who worked with anybody they felt was sincerely trying to change the system to benefit poor people and create a more just society.”
Tumblr media
Since that time, Shames has published two photobooks about that struggle – The Black Panthers (2006) and Power to the People: the World of the Black Panthers (2016) – as well as several other titles that attest to a life of activism and deep engagement with his subjects. Next month, he will complete his trilogy on that era with a book that, as he puts it, is “long overdue”. Co-authored with former Black Panther Ericka Huggins, who is now a writer and educator, Comrade Sisters: Women of the Black Panther Party is a dynamic visual and oral testament to the crucial role played by women in a revolutionary group whose figureheads, with a few exceptions, were men.
In her foreword to the book, the activist and author Angela Davis points out that 66% of the membership of the Black Panthers was female. She writes: “Because the media tended to focus on what could be easily sensationalised
There has been a tendency to forget that the organising work that truly made the Black Panther Party relevant to a new era of struggle for liberation was largely carried out by women.”
Tumblr media
The book is a powerful record of an intense period of grassroots activism and political engagement, a counter-narrative to the one propagated by J Edgar Hoover, the head of the FBI, who called the Panthers “the greatest threat to the internal security of the country”. Like the Black Panther men, the women members tended to look both stylish and dramatic, often sporting afros and at times wearing the black leather jackets and berets that were the Panther uniform. “Most young people are photogenic,” says Shames, “but the Panthers were charismatic. It was something to do with the pride they instilled in their people. Rather than treating them as a problem, as the government did, they gave them a sense of faith and pride and I really think that shines through in the photographs.”
Shames’s extraordinary access allowed him to capture fly-on-the-wall shots of young women at protest rallies, but also carrying out on-the-ground organising of various Black Panther community initiatives, including the Free Breakfast for Children Program, the People’s Free Ambulance Service and the People’s Free Medical Clinics, which offered medical care, including sickle-cell anaemia testing. Though the series is punctuated by images of well-known female members – Kathleen Cleaver (law professor and former communications secretary for the party), Elaine Brown (prison activist, writer and former chair of the party), and the late Afeni Shakur (political activist and mother of rapper Tupac Shakur) – most of the testimonies come from ordinary black women whose youthful engagement with the Black Panthers remains the most empowering moment of their lives.
Tumblr media
Carol Henry, who joined the Oakland chapter of the Panthers, recalls: “I joined the BPP when I was 20 years old. I lived in a part of town where the Free Breakfast for School Children Program ran. We got up at 3am; it was a real mission, but it was beautiful. We gave those children a full breakfast every day. Cooking that breakfast was the most memorable part, because everybody got up so early and everybody worked together.” Another woman, Barbara Easley-Cox, who was in the Philadelphia chapter, remembers: “Love is what tied me to the party; it exemplified how I understood love. And that is: you have to love people, to serve them. I was so loved. So blessed on this earth because of my sisters, all of us, who came into the party. It’s lacking today, when I look out on this landscape in America.”
As co-author, Ericka Huggins wrote the introductory essay and tracked down, as she puts it, “the women who were there and whose individual testimonies we could use to evoke how extraordinary that time was for many of us”. Huggins’s own moment of political awakening was seismic. Aged 18, and a student at Lincoln University in Philadelphia, she picked up a copy of the radical leftist magazine Ramparts and saw a photograph of a young black man strapped to a hospital gurney with a bullet wound in his stomach. Next to him, a policeman stood grinning at the camera. On reading the accompanying report, she found out that the young man was Huey P Newton, a co-founder of the party, who had authored the party’s 10-point manifesto with Seale in 1966. “I studied the picture for some time,” she recalled years later, “I didn’t have tears for it, I was so appalled.”
Tumblr media
The following day, she left a note for her friend and fellow student John Huggins that read: “I am going to California if I have to walk. I am going to find Huey Newton and work in his defence. Are you coming?”
The pair subsequently drove across the country to Los Angeles, where they joined the local Black Panther chapter, which then comprised around 20 members. They were married soon afterwards and initially worked at whatever task was necessary: answering phones, selling newspapers, writing letters to politicians and talking to potential financial donors. Not long after their arrival in California, they attended the funeral of 17-year-old Bobby Hutton, who had been killed in disputed circumstances during a shoot-out between the Panthers and the Oakland police. “The person waiting in line next to me to pay his respects was Marlon Brando,” says Huggins. “He looked as heartbroken as I felt.”
Tumblr media
The killing was an augury. In January 1969, her husband, who had become a leader of the Los Angeles Black Panthers, was assassinated on the campus of UCLA by alleged members of a black nationalist group, the US Organization. The killing was thought by many in the black community to be linked to the Cointelpro programme that was being conducted clandestinely and illegally by the FBI against the Black Panthers. In December that year, Black Panthers Fred Hampton and Mark Clark were killed in an FBI-orchestrated raid on Hampton’s apartment.
Widowed with a three-week old daughter, Huggins moved to her husband’s home town of New Haven, Connecticut and, alongside Kathleen Cleaver and Elaine Brown, organised a branch of the Black Panther party there. In 1969, she was arrested alongside Bobby Seale, and charged with murder, kidnapping and conspiracy but, after a lengthy trial, the charges were dismissed in May 1971.
Tumblr media
“The word ‘conspiracy’ was used a lot at the time,” she says now, calmly. “We spent time in jail for a murder we did not commit or have anything to do with. The system, then as now, was punitive. We were punished before we even entered the courtroom and their aim was to keep us in prison for ever
”
Did her time in prison dent the sense of optimism and empowerment she had experienced when she joined the Black Panthers? “My optimism was dented by my husband being killed,” she replies, “and by not being able to see my daughter except for a single hour every Saturday. But I chose not to let it break my spirit. When I was in solitary and grieving, I taught myself to meditate in a way that brought me into a deeper focus, so that when I went to court I could be really present. It’s a practice I have kept to this day.”
Tumblr media
Huggins insists that her experience was not exceptional and that it “helped me help the women I contacted to tell their stories, because it’s hard sometimes to go back”. Alongside Shames’s powerful images of a moment of black activism that echoes through the decades to this day, those stories evoke a time in which young black women experiencedlifechanging personal empowerment and collective possibility.
“These are not war stories,” says Huggins, who spent 14 years as a Black Panther, making her the longest serving woman in their history. “They are stories of service to humanity. The reason they are so striking, touching and inspiring is because you can sense how beautiful and alive the women were in that moment. Every function of the government that could do harm to us did so, but we kept stepping out and stepping up, because we were giving our communities what had never been given. I think all the women in the book realise that, because they can remember how great they felt back then, what they learned, and what was indelibly imprinted on their minds and in their hearts. The book is our legacy.”
Comrade Sisters: Women of the Black Panther Party by Stephen Shames and Ericka Huggins will be published by ACC Art Books on 9 October. There will also be a book signing and talk on 9 October at Marcus Books in Oakland with the co-authors and special guest Angela Davis, 2-4pm

A Violet Perspective (an Incredibles fanfic)
Summary: Life as a girl named Violet Parr is not always easy. With shyness to overcome, a family full of superpowers, and the boy of your dreams seemingly far away from your reach, it can be a bit of a challenge. But things are bound to change for the better, right?
A/N: Second person POV similar to the fic I wrote for Ericka Van Helsing in Hotel T, only this time, with Violet Parr and the Viony ship :)
__________________________________________
The first time that you hear about Tony Rydinger is during Biology class.
Kari McKeen, an overexcited classmate of yours who immediately introduces herself with much enthusiasm, tells you about him among other students at the school as you guys engage in the class activity of that day – sorting through the different animal families. He catches your interest for the way that she describes him, with a charming personality that made many girls at the school fawn over him. You’re all for cute boys
even if they didn’t pay you much mind. You hear of him mentioned by other girls as well throughout that morning, all with the same dreamy reactions, fondly sighing or giggling with giddiness after recalling some memory unbeknownst to you.
It's lunch by the first time you actually see him, and your breath hitches - true to the word of mouth, he was indeed a looker. A sweep of dark brown hair sat upon the crown of his head, with eyes the exact color of a rich chocolate and an infectious smile that seemed to bring joy to everyone around him. The way he held himself was confident, yet relaxed, and the way he spoke seemed to convey warmth, honesty, and sincerity.
Instantly, you know that he is different from the other boys you’ve had crushes on. He had a certain quality about him, one that you simply felt drawn to, one that could not be explained away with just words alone. But as you continue watching him, getting a sense of his popularity and the types of girls he gave attention to, it's clear that your chances with him are not very high. You wish you could be like those other girls – poised, not shy in the slightest, and most importantly, pretty. You sigh, distracting yourself from your own dark black hair with dry-tipped roots, gangly frame, and baggy clothing that look nothing like the short-shorts and blonde bangs some of the other girls have. Instead, you work on a sketch under the table, already committing him to memory with pencil and paper. Even when you’re satisfied with the outcome of the piece though, it doesn’t compare to his actual liveliness. Regardless, you pack it away in one of your notebooks, grinning to yourself at the feelings he was stirring within you, the happiness and joy, and hoping that he could share them with you one day.
__________________________________________
Your silent wish to rid that bashfulness comes true.
You weren’t sure exactly how it was to happen in the first place, but the way it did certainly was not at all what you had in mind. That whole mess with Dad and his secret ventures to some island to do superhero work that went wrong
While it had its unnerving moments, getting into super mode does wonders for your own confidence, rubbing off to your personality with others after the venture is over. You now wear your hair back, have a wardrobe of brighter clothing, and a smile on your face that’s not all that bashful.
It takes Tony by surprise too, when he happens to approach you at your younger brother’s track meet. Instead, it is he who fumbles around for something to say, leaving you to propose the idea of going out together sometime. You laugh to yourself afterwards. You actually did it! This scene was something that you wouldn’t have even pictured only a couple months ago. But you are ever grateful that it did.
__________________________________________
Your first date couldn't have gone more awkward, and yet somehow, you expected it that way.
After dumping him out in front of the movie theater with an order to buy the tickets and popcorn, you and your family head off to quickly tend to apprehend a speeding car thief. It didn’t take long, thankfully, and you return just in time as the titular credits roll. He’s a little confused, but doesn’t question it, as there’s another pressing matter at hand – namely, your family, who have occupied the seats right behind you guys in the theater. It’s embarrassing at times, with your dad’s boisterous laughter, Dash’s occasional teasing, and your mother and Jack-Jack noisily munching on some cookies in the background. But, for the most part, they give you your space, and you’re able to make some conversation with him and he with you. And when you do, there’s an instant click amongst you, a special connection that neither one of you can't quite put a finger on, like two pieces of a puzzle finally fitting into place. You get that feeling again. That sense of belonging with this boy. Forever.
__________________________________________
There are no words to describe your first kiss. It's wonderful. Perfect. Unexpected even. One minute you're laughing about a bad joke, and the next you find yourself enraptured in his gaze, his eyes locked to yours with keen interest. You both begin to unconsciously lean in closer, his hand coming up to carefully tuck a loose strand of hair behind your ear before skillfully moving down to cup your cheek. Your breathing quickens as you come to realize what is happening. You quickly shut your eyes just as you can feel his breath upon your face, his soft lips pressing ever so gently against yours. It's quick, chaste, and he pulls back enough to gauge at your reaction. You smile timidly, looking up into his eyes with an excited glint in them. He smiles widely, a light blush tinting his cheeks as he leans in again for another, you leaning in to meet him halfway.
__________________________________________
It takes a span of one minute for Tony to change the way he sees you forever. You’re worried for a moment that this is a repeat of what had happened when the Underminer attacked Municiberg, where Tony, in fear and confusion, had sprinted off without awaiting some sort of explanation. This time was also an accident. Jack-Jack, next you guys and munching this time on some spicy-flavored chips, had suddenly sneezed out, flames shooting right out of his mouth. You yelp in surprise and act upon instinct, generating one of your forcefields around the two of you to prevent the flames from striking. At the same time, Dash runs off at his top speed to the kitchen, grabbing a cup of water for the baby to drink. Something like this was a normal occurrence in the house, but it’s only after it happens and you bring down the forcefield that you realize just how it has affected Tony. He gapes at you, his jaw dropped in utter shock, and you have no choice but to admit the truth. And, unlike that first time when he was wary, he was actually very pleasantly surprised by having a Super girlfriend with a Super family, whose parents were the legendary Mr. Incredible and Elastigirl. Why, it was incredible!
You blush at the word “girlfriend” and laugh at the obvious pun he makes of your father’s name, knowing now that your secret would be safe with him.
__________________________________________
The wedding comes exactly four years later, just a couple of months after you guys’ graduation.
His proposal is craftily done as your families celebrate the occasion at your house. He says he has a gift for you, and you think at first that it is a bouquet of flowers or a nice piece of jewelry. Your second guess is right, though it catches you by complete surprise to see just what kind of jewelry it was. It was a ring, with a beautiful gem on the top nestled inside an elegant velvet box that he holds up to you while down on one knee. Tears fill your eyes as you gratefully throw your arms around his neck, excitedly repeating “Yes!” over and over and over.
At the wedding itself, your father is a bumbling, sobbing mess. Your mother is far more collected, though she sniffles a little and dabs at her eyes with a napkin while the vows are exchanged. Your brothers are ecstatic as well - despite the gags and pretend recoils they made at anything too "lovey-dovey", they still expressed joy at the momentous occasion.
You end up staying in Metroville, Tony inheriting the Happy Platter restaurant from his parents while you take on a career in fighting for justice. He fears for your safety at first, not knowing if his wife truly was as safe as she made herself seem when fighting crime. You reassure him on multiple occasions, as your parents or brothers regularly come to your aid to fight as a team. You can tell he feels safest with you in his arms, secure in knowing that you've made it past another day, and that he won't lose you.
__________________________________________
Your first child comes after nine months, a lovely little girl. Amethyst Rydinger, with soft brown eyes like her father's and hair a deep shade of brown it nearly looked black.
Your second child, two years after that, is just as breathtaking. John Joseph Rydinger - or "JoJo" for short – had rich ebony hair and twinkling blue eyes. Your parents are caring towards their grandchildren, and your brothers make surprisingly good uncles. And, as your children grow, you can’t help but laugh at how similar their relationship is to the one you had with your siblings in their youth, squabbles, shrieks and all.
__________________________________________
Amethyst's powers reveal themselves on an otherwise ordinary day. It’s the summer, and the weather was unusually hot even for Municiberg’s standards. You set up a little rubber kiddy pool outside in the backyard, your children already waiting with their bathing suits, and turn to grab the hose from the side of the house to fill it up with. But, as you turn around with the hose in hand, you are stunned to find that the once empty pool was now filled with water. Before you could question why, Amethyst raises her arms, a gush of water coming right from her palms. You grin, turning around to call indoors for your husband only to find that he had witnessed it as well, and was now standing open-mouthed with shock at the patio doorway with the icy drinks he was holding having fallen right out of his hands. Instantly, Tony runs right over, engulfing you and your daughter in a tight, happy hug.
It's even more surprising at JoJo's revelation of powers, realizing that both your children inherited the so-called "Super gene" from you. His are the complete opposite of his sister’s, being the ability to harness pyrotechnical forces and emit them through his palms as well.
It worries you at first, uncertain of how your husband - a non- Super - would feel about it. To your delight, he takes it in stride, simply overjoyed to have such a unique and talented family.
__________________________________________
Your mother passes first, at the ripe age of 82. Your father delivers a heartfelt speech in her honor, voice quivering with sadness as he recalls how brave and beautiful she was. Your brothers are unusually quiet next to you, Dash looking down at his boots while Jack-Jack stares straight ahead blankly.
Your father passes only a couple months after, the heartbreak being too much. He's buried alongside your mother's grave, their Superhero emblems engraved onto the stone.
Winston's speech at the memorial is emotional, full of sorrow and grief for the loss. An elderly man himself, he recalled the days in which Supers had been legalized once more, with your parents having been dedicated to the profession of helping others around them. Unable to take it, you sob quietly, leaning your head against Tony’s shoulder as he wraps an arm around you for comfort.
__________________________________________
You retire from Superhero work at 70. It’s five years past the NSA advised retirement age for Supers, but you just find it difficult to give up on your passion. Tony assures you that it’s okay, pointing out that Amethyst and JoJo have had it handled quite well in their own careers as NSA Supers. You know that he’s right, and you let out a sigh of relief, snuggling up against him on the couch. You’re content to know that your children have successful careers, proof in how the news reporter stood with them now, gushing over their success in successfully apprehending criminals from a bank robbery, and content with the outcome of everything that had occurred thus far in your life, both Super and civilian, having Tony, your wonderful husband and metaphorical partner in crime, by your side the whole time.

Webcomics Focus: "Diamond Dive"
Tumblr media
Diamond Dive tells the story of a girl who learns she is a witch and goes to a school to hone her magical abilities. While there she finds more than her magic, like new challenges, crushes, and obstacles to overcome in this girl's love story.
Reprinted from The Geekiary, my History Hermann WordPress blog and Wayback Machine. This was the twelfth article I wrote for The Geekiary. This post was originally published on November 3, 2021. Also, this post has been slightly changed from the original.
Madamka's Diamond Dive is the story of Karta Kloss, also known as Pinky, who is drawn to a magic school, Montgomery University of Witchcraft. While there, she meets a girl she falls in love with, and as the story moves forward, both are drawn closer together and become more attracted to one another. Although this webcomic is a romance mainly, it also has its wonderful comedic moments.
The story begins with a witch casting a spell, who learns about a "special one": Karta, who was unable to get into a university, has parents who divorced, and a disbanding garage band. She has her own unique style. She hears a melody and learns that she is a witch, getting a stack of books. Karta thinks it's a dream and then freaks out. She doesn't tell her parents or friends where she is going. She does tests to figure out her magical abilities, is impressed by the school itself, and meets her roommates: a pessimistic girl named River Styxx and a more helpful girl named Kelpie "Kelps" Abott. The name River Styxx could be a reference to Styx, who is a deity and a river, in Greek mythology, which forms a boundary between the underworld and the surface world (Earth), or the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club song, "River Styx," or something else entirely! In any case, River saves Karta on her first day from an enchantment prank by another kid.
Karta goes to the library to pick up school books, helped by a librarian, and meets a heiress named Bailey Montgomery. She soon falls in love with Bailey, trying to impress her with her magic skills, but ends up almost causing harm to herself and Bailey, with both being annoyed at one another. That soon changes as Bailey carries Karta to her room after she faints. She later has a dream about the future and learns she has the magic ability known as "Dream Dive." She meets Bailey on her first day of class and invites her to coffee the next day. She picks her gem, a moonstone. We later learn about Bailey's past trauma, her full name, and she agrees to meet Karta, claiming it isn't a date.
Bailey later puts the gem on her necklace, and they spend the day together. Both realize it might have been a date, her friends at a coffee shop find Bailey's real Instagram account, and Bailey confronts her mother, who threatens her into entering a relationship with Karta. Her roommates help her with studying, while River gets angry about Karta and Bailey's date. Karta hilariously asks Harlow, Anne, River, and Kelpie for help in getting a second date from Bailey, i.e. "Operation High-Class Waifu," with Kelpie letting Karta know there are rules to letting Karta date Bailey, learning that she needs to defeat Bailey before she can date her.
After Karta asks Bailey on a date, Bailey says that if Karta can stand her ground for one minute, then she'll go on another date with her. Later, Bailey tells Yvonne that Karta is cute and wants to play it safe before she can be around Karta, so her mom doesn't hurt her. And the story goes on from there, with many twists and turns.

Karta and Bailey face each other in the library
Diamond Dive has compelling characters and storyline. Apart from Karta and Bailey, there's Karta's roommates Kelpie and River, and other characters like Yvonne Bisset, Ericka Rangulf, Annelise "Anne" Combe, Harlow Park, Cecilia, Karen, Nia, and Suzy. A good number of these characters are brown-skinned, like Karta and her roommate River, among others. This webcomic is not alone in this. Webcomics, like MagicalMashup!, Butterflies in Her Hair, Pandora's Choice, My Demon Valentine, and Everywhere & Nowhere, to name a few, also have such representation among their cast.
In a recent Q&A, Karta revealed that she sees Bailey as "cool and mysterious" but easily flustered, while Bailey sees Karta as "full of life," a go-getter, and wishing she could be "more like that that." The comic was recently nominated for the outstanding fantasy category for the Webtoon Canvas Awards, with voting closing on October 31, 2021. If Diamond Dive makes it to the top 4 nominated series, which will be announced on November 29, 2021, then users would be able to vote for the series again between December 6 and December 12, 2021, with the winners announced early next year.
Diamond Dive, which has more than 50 episodes, is written and illustrated by Madamka. She is also known for her wonderful three-part webcomic entitled Her name was Sunny. In one of the scenes of the webcomic, the "Princess Prom" episode of She-Ra and the Princess of Power is mentioned, which is why that webcomic will always stick in my mind. In a recent Q&A, Madamka said the use of crystals in Diamond Dive was influenced by Hazel Raven's book Sacred Crystals, and that the webcomic is two-thirds through season 1. She also noted that Yvonne is aromantic and asexual, Harlow is a homoromantic bisexual, Karta is bisexual, Max is polyamorous, and Bailey is lesbian.
In the same Q&A, Madamka noted that she is in a romantic relationship with fellow webcomic artist Soya S. Holm, creator of Susuhara Is A Demon!. She further described that artwork from Sailor Moon, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the King, Bayonetta, W.I.T.C.H., and Monster High served as influences on Diamond Dive, while saying that the character's outfits in the webcomic are based on K-pop outfits, designer clothes, her own wardrobe, and other ideas. Madamka also described the comic as a mix of themes from Harry Potter, Revolutionary Girl Utena, Monster High, 1990s anime like Yu Yu Hakusho and Kiddy Grade. In another Q&A, she said that most of her character designs come from daydreaming, that her favorite anime is Yu Yu Hakusho, and explained the process of illustrating for the comic. I am excited to hear in that Q&A that Madamka is going to start a new project, whether a continuation of Diamond Dive, a magical comic, or a fantasy adventure focusing on a vampire and her apprentice.
Diamond Dive is one of the many recent stories which have focused on or featured characters with magical abilities. This includes characters in The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated!, dragons in Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid, the witches in The Owl House, Frida in Hilda, and the protagonists of the Tales of Arcadia trilogy. However, this webcomic, in some ways, reminds me of Little Witch Academia, an anime series that had yuri undertones, even if they aren't explicitly stated. Other webcomics like Tanya Tinks' Tea For Two, Merryweather's Everywhere & Nowhere, and Olivia Barone's Calia Nova, to name a few, also include characters with magical abilities.

5th of Flamerule, 1368 - Day 63, Hour 15 Part 1
Gullykin proved to be a well needed holiday. Halflings are known for their hospitality, and Gullykin was no exception. It was Keith Honeyhop who took me in, and made me a place to stay in a spare room. A fair halfling of flaxen hair, his sideburns were neatly trimmed, and led to a modest amount of translucent stubble. He was handsome. His wife, Ericka, was just as much of a looker, her long black hair, and reddish-brown skin shone with health. Night after night the Honeyhops shared dinner with me, breaking bread, discussing the goings on of the town, reading the odd letter from their son in Beregost. They asked about Aurelia, and Ferrum, always keeping to safe questions, never asking too much about what I was hiding from. Keith seemed to understand. Larry, whom I had met in Nashkel, had accompanied me to Gullykin. He was half-halfling, liked to call himself a "dark quarterling", he always laughed at his own jokes and it included this one. His mother was born in Gullykin, and his father was a Drow who had escaped his enslavers in Menzoberranzan. While his parents had split, he still visited them both, traveling back to Gullykin and a Seldarine settlement in the underdark. Initially he slept on the couch in the main room, but that changed over time. It had been a tenday when he joined me in my room. The Honeyhops declined to comment in any way, experts in discretion it would seem. Larry helped me stretch my limbs and shake off the stiffness of healing. A gentlemen, he took the rug by my bed every night. Somewhere along the way he had assigned himself my ward. Larry was a dutiful caretaker. Despite being barely 5 foot, he took the trouble to support me when I walked, and was stronger than I had estimated. By the end of Kythorn I was feeling almost myself again. Day after day we shared delicious meals, regaled each other with stories, and I couldn't help but miss Ferrum and Aurelia. Once they had a better lead on the Iron Throne's top brass they would be back for me. In the meantime, I enjoyed the companionship and community Gullykin provided me. By the end of the second tenday, I was familiar with most of the social butterfly's of the town. It felt counterintuitive, to be so open about myself while hiding. That was the beauty of the halfling village. Perpetually overlooked, no one would notice me here among the Hin. Which is funny because of my entire upper body being above most townfolks heads. Larry was my favorite. He tended to my injuries, kept me laughing, and did much of the legwork showing me around the community, introducing me to people. True to my word ot Ferrum, Larry and I didn't lay together until I was well. I had been on my way to take a bath, drying cloth around my waist, soap in hand. I reached the washing shed, and opened the door to find Larry already in the tub. His eyes caught mine, framed by strong, sandy eyebrows.
He looked down, guiding my gaze. My eyes ran down his lithe body, scars and healing nicks peppered his grey skin. More sandy hair started at his chest, and ran in a suggestive trail down to his groin, soft member floating in the water.
I stiffened instantly, pitching a tent out of my drying cloth.
"Yuze." Larry breathed "I was hoping we'd bump into each other here"
He stood up, water running down his body, dripping off his stirring sex. He pulled me in by my drying cloth, and looked up at me with crimson eyes.
OK I could still get harder.
"Do you want me to touch you?"
Even harder,
"Yes."
He parted my cloth, and removed it from my wait My sex sprang forward, jutting out from jet hair, balls pulled in close in excitement.
Left hand caressing my balls, right hand stroking my shaft, he leaned in and kissed me. Slow, sensual, increasing amounts of tongue.
His mouth wandered away from mine, tracing my stomach, and taking my member into his mouth.
I pulled the shack door closed behind me.
Before long Larry was bent over a side table and I was once again, face first in a beautiful rear end.
He had invited me, looking over his shoulder, shaft and balls pressed back to be better seen, just under his soft pink hole. His cheeks were small but perky, round and firm. His hole begged my tongue to explore it, pushing into his warmth, introducing me to new sounds.
Swivel my tongue clockwise, get a moan, counter-clockwise, get a groan. Rub my stubble against his taint? ""MMMMM-aaah-ahhhh- yessssss.. mmmmmmmm" Sucking his balls from behind him? "YUzeeeeee"
I flipped him over, and went down on him, savoring the taste. Precum had already started running out of him, sweet and salty. His member naturally bent forward, with a thicker base, and a gentle taper to the head. Good for taking from behind.
"I want to fuck you, to put you on the edge, I want to fill you until you're ready to burst, and then I want you to finish inside me."
Larry flushed and lifted himself onto the table, lifting his legs back in assent, breathing heavy, his enthusiasm palpable.
Once inside, he tightened up around me "Wait wait" "Should I pull out?" "No, just wait a second,"
We kissed while he relaxed, and his hole went from strangling to embracing me. Slowly, in, out, in out. I worked him up from a slow beat to a faster and faster one. I pitched his body, rotating through different angles. He laughed with amusement.
You don't have to impress me with this much variety" He laughed
"I'm looking for your spot, it should be, right, about
"
"AAAAAAaaahhhh!"
"Yeah like that?"
Larry grabbed my hips, and pulled himself onto me, guiding his way down my shaft until I stood with my pelvis flat against his taint, fully sheathed.
I slowed down again, grinding in circles against his spot By the end of my time on top, he was gasping, clasped against my chest, calling out my name. Nearing the finish, I slowed to a stop, and gently pulled out. Larry looked dazed, a naughty smile running across his face. We moved to the floor, spreading out our clothes as bed. I pressed him down on his back , and then lowered myself, facing away, onto his silvery rod. I rode him and touched myself, murmuring in pleasure. As he picked up speed, he grabbed my hips, sat up and then hugged me around the middle, face pressed into my back, kissing my spine, hips thrusting hungrily. I was the first one to to reach climax, but before I could finish, he stopped fucking me. "Yuze?" "Yeah?" I twisted around backwards to see him easier. "Have you ever had sex with more than one person at once?" "You have no idea." "Oh god that's hot - um,- I have a proposition. What if we stop for now, and save our passion. There's a group that meets every 3 tendays, today actually, where, we could do this with others as well." I pulled myself off of him, moaned as i felt Larry pass through me. I sat down next to him "Gullykin hosts orgies? Larry flushed "You have to have an invite, some out of towners too. We keep the membership inside only, no one wants to see their brother or mother at an open house - but I could invite you. Do you like having audience?" " I would like to have an audience." --------------------------------------------------------------------

It has been 84 years since I last played The Sims Medieval, but I recently dug up the screenshots I took to document the Sims I created for my first kingdom (which I unfortunately do not remember the name of) and since I keep rambling about them in my OC tags I figured it was about time I shared them.
When I play The Sims, I randomize the default models until I land on a nice base to work with. Then, I play dress up. So, if there's some same face syndrome going on here, it's because I do not have an eye or the patience for more in-depth customization and I'm too scared to try messing with it now. XD
Also, their names are wild because I hit randomize until I saw something that sounded neat and/or amused me greatly. More than a few of them are inside jokes, not all of which will be explained because they probably only make sense to me~ <3
Ericka Aragon - Bard
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I admittedly don't remember very much about Ericka other than that she is the fun-loving and chaotic trickster-like bard (who can and will flirt her way through any sticky situation) I think about every time I reblog a post about bards.
Bruce Watson - Monarch
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
King Brucey in the flesh! I remember being in my Batman era, tickled by a character named Bruce having the Whale Rage trait wherein on occasion he would feel compelled to yell at the ocean or dump his tragic "a whale ate my parents" backstory onto any unsuspecting person nearby.
The highlight of his character journey was when, already under pressure to find a spouse, he got word that there were bandits in the forest, so he very reasonably decided to find and challenge the bandit leader on his own. Except, oh no, she's hot! And she can kick his ass! Logically, someone who is smart enough to become the leader of an organized operation like this and strong enough to hold her own in a fight would be quite an asset to the kingdom. So, naturally he seduces the bandit and marries her.
Good ole Brucey was such a beloved monarch that his people got mad at him for insisting that they use their funds for basic needs instead of letting them build a giant statue in his honor for the town square.
Sindonia Quarles - Wizard
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sindonia teamed up with Ericka once to put on a magic show for the kingdom and somehow, in the process of searching for an assistant, she wound up meeting and hiring the villager she would eventually call her wife. It may or may not have been due to Ericka's influence that the routine was more flirtatious than Sindonia had intended. Let it never be said that Ericka isn't an excellent wingman.
Cyrus MacCloud - Peteran Priest
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All I know is that, when confronted with the choice between the fire and brimstone Jacoban and the much more chill Peteran, I preferred to not be worshiped and feared as an angry god. And so Cyrus was born.
Scarlet Vest - Merchant
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scarlet Vest... who wears a scarlet vest... I thought it was funny at the time. Pretty sure she has pointy ears because I was playing around with the idea of her not being human. Perhaps she is some kind of fey, in which case beware her sharp tongue or you may come away from her stall with more than you bargained for.
Dwayne Crow - Knight
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dwayne is a good boy with a big heart of gold. He's gonna be the very best like no one ever was. Boy is he really giving off some serious Peter Pan vibes here though. XD
Katy Everhart - Spy
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Executioner and the Beast in the pit are her friends. Katy has also spent a fair amount of time training with Bruce and Dwayne. Dwayne is probably 80% of her impulse control.
Branwen Browning - Physician
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Branwen and her pet leeches are a menace to the population in the best way possible. For science!
Wolfric Cutler - Blacksmith
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Probably his most notable escapade was picking up a feral warrior chinchilla from the forest, asking Cyrus to impart upon it the knowledge of a peaceful god, and then releasing it back into the wild so it could preach the good word to its chinchilla friends. Look, when a priest approaches you and says "we need to arm the chinchillas" as part of the plan, you don't ask questions. You say "yes sir" and start forging the enchanted chinchilla-sized armor.

Crisnags Nagandang - Lasagna
INGREDIENTS:
For the meat sauce:
2 teaspoons extra virgin olive oil
1 pound ground beef chuck
œ medium onion, diced (about Ÿ cup)
œ large bell pepper (green, red, or yellow), diced (about Ÿ cup)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 (28-ounce)can good-quality tomato sauce
3 ounces tomato paste (half a 6-ounce can)
1 (14 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
2 tablespoons chopped fresh oregano, or 2 teaspoons dried oregano
Πcup chopped fresh parsley (preferably flat leaf), packed
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 pinch garlic powder and/or garlic salt
1 tablespoon red or white wine vinegar
1 tablespoon to Πcup sugar (to taste, optional)
Salt
To assemble the lasagna:
œ pound dry lasagna noodles (requires 9 lasagna noodles - unbroken)
15 ounces ricotta cheese
1 œ pounds (24 ounces) mozzarella cheese, grated or sliced
Πpound (4 ounces) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
PROCEDURE:
Put pasta water on to boil Set a sizable pot of salted water (one tablespoon of salt for every two quarts of water) over high heat. The next several stages can be completed while the pasta water is heating up since it can take some time for a large pot of water to come to a boil.
Brown the ground beef 2 teaspoons of olive oil are heated on medium-high heat in a big skillet. Add the ground beef and heat it until it is just starting to brown. With a slotted spoon, transfer the beef to a bowl. Remove all the fat except for one tablespoon.
Cook the bell pepper, onions, garlic, add back the beef Add the chopped onions and bell peppers to the skillet (in the photo we are using yellow bell pepper and red onions). Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, or until the peppers are tender and the onions are transparent. Cook for another 30 seconds after adding the minced garlic. Refill the pan with the browned ground meat. After combining everything, cook for another 5 minutes on low heat.
Transfer to medium sized pot, add tomatoes and remaining sauce ingredients to build the sauce. The meat mixture should be transferred to a medium (3 to 4-quart) pot. To the pot, add the tomato paste, tomato sauce, and crushed tomatoes. Italian seasoning, parsley, and oregano should all be added. Taste and adjust the amounts.
Boil and drain the lasagna noodles By now the salted water you started heating in step one should be boiling. Add the dry lasagna noodles and cook them to al dente, per package directions. (Note noodles may be cooked in advance.) Stir often to prevent from sticking. Make sure that water remains at a full rolling boil during the entire cooking to prevent noodles from sticking. When ready, drain in a colander and rinse with cool water, gently separating any noodles that may be sticking together. Spread a little olive oil on a large rimmed baking sheet, and lay out the cooked noodles on this sheet, turning them over so that they get coated with a little of the olive oil. This will prevent them from sticking together.
Heat the oven to 375°F the lasagna noodles
Assemble the lasagna In a 9x13-inch casserole or lasagna dish, ladle a cup of sauce and spread it over the bottom of the dish. Arrange one layer of lasagna noodles lengthwise (about 3 long noodles, edge may overlap, depending on your pan) over the sauce. Ladle a third of the remaining sauce over the noodles. Sprinkle a layer of a third of the grated mozzarella on top of lasagna sauce. Add half of the ricotta cheese, by placing cheese dollops every couple inches. Sprinkle half the grated parmesan cheese evenly over the top of ricotta cheese. Apply second layer of noodles, top it with half of the remaining sauce. Add half of the remaining Mozzarella, the remaining ricotta cheese, and another the remaining Parmesan. Finish with another layer of noodles. Spread the remaining sauce over the top layer of noodles and sprinkle with the remaining Mozzarella cheese.
Bake Cover the lasagna pan with aluminum foil, tented slightly so it doesn’t touch the noodles or sauce). Bake at 375°F for 45 minutes. Uncover in the last 10 minutes if you’d like more of a crusty top or edges.
Cool and Serve
Benefits: Proteins and fats – Lasagna is also an excellent source for dietary protein and fat. Proteins are broken down by your body into amino acids that are used to create and maintain healthy tissues. Each ounce of meat and cheese adds between 6 and 7 grams of protein. Origin: While many of us associate lasagna pasta with Italy, there are others who would attest that lasagna originated in Greece or England. However, most reports seem to indicate that this pasta dish - as we now know it - made its first appearance in the Italian city of Naples during the Middle Ages.
Chrizyl Ann Oculares - Chicken Adobo
INGREDIENTS:
2 tbsp canola oil
6 cloves garlic crushed
1 pc onion, sliced
1 kilogram chicken cut ups
2 tbsp vinegar
Πcup soy sauce
1 cup water
2 pcs bay leaves
1 tsp whole black peppercorns, slightly crushed
2 pc Knorr chicken cubes
1 tsp brown sugar packed
Option: 1 cup kale or spinach
PROCEDURE:
First , Heat the garlic and onion in oil on medium heat. Add the garlic first and cook until lightly brown. Then add the chopped onions and cook until it becomes translucent.
Be careful not to burn the garlic and onion. Use a wooden spoon or spatula to keep the ingredients moving.
Second , Add the chicken and stir. You don’t have to use a whole chicken. Instead, you can use parts of the chicken you like the best.
Third , Add the soy sauce, vinegar, peppercorn, salt, sugar, water, and bay leaves. Stir and mix everything together.
Fourth , Bring the chicken to a boil. Once everything begins to boil, turn your stove to low heat. Add more water to the mixture if you think the dish is too dry.
And lastly , Let the chicken simmer for 20 to 30 minutes. Cover the skillet and let the chicken simmer until it is tender. After 15 minutes, spoon the sauce over the chicken. Let it simmer for the rest of the remaining time. If you like your chicken dry, let it simmer for a little longer.
BENEFITS:
Chicken Adobo is a great food to eat while dieting as it contains a large amount of protein with fats and carbs making up a small portion of its calories. This allows for more flexibility in your diet which translates to better results and tremendous health benefits. Although Chicken Adobo is great to eat while dieting, it can still be hard to lose weight while eating it if you don’t know the fundamentals of portion controlling.
ORIGIN:
The adobo was traditionally cooked in clay pots but today is made in more common metal pots or woks. When the Spanish invaded and settled in the Philippines during the 16th century, they witnessed this traditional Filipino cooking method and called it adobo, which is the Spanish word for marinade.  The cooking method for the Philippine adobo is indigenous to the Philippines. The various precolonial peoples of the country often cooked or prepared their food with vinegar and salt to preserve them in the tropical climate.

Cancer Preventative  Antioxidants found in squid can help the body fight free radicals from the air you breathe in every day. These antioxidants increase the efficiency of cells which can prevent cancer. Antioxidants can also help to increase the number of white blood cells that are absent from the process of chemotherapy.
Chock Full of Vitamins and Minerals  Squid contains a high number of vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin B-12, potassium, iron, phosphorus and copper. These essential nutrients aid in the performance and health of blood cells, bones and the immune system.
Fights Anemia Copper is one of the key minerals found in squid, and can prevent and fight anemia, a deadly disease that is caused by the lack of blood cells.
Where is Fried Calamari From?
Fried calamari is a classic seafood side that so many people have enjoyed in restaurants around the world. While squid has been popular around the world for centuries, from the coast of Japan then across Asia and Europe, only one country can claim to be the first. It makes sense that the dish’s namesake, Italy, would be where it originated — calamari is Italian for squid.
From Italy, the recipe spread across the Mediterranean Sea through the many countries that traded with Italy. But surprisingly, this simple idea of frying squid wasn’t popularized outside of places in Italy until 1975. There were nearly two hundred years of American history without fried calamari. Before 1975, it’s hard to determine when exactly the idea came about, but it’s widely believed to be around that time.
