This is a child who looks to be laidback albeit a bit on the introverted side.
Pretty and bright, but isn't interested in shining bright - just wants to do the best she can do... That said, she's easily her own worst critic.
Fairly popular for someone who's on the more soft-spoken side. When she speaks, others listen, as she doesn't waste words on anything she doesn't mean.

Wall-E Looks Different Than I Remember [Team 7 Iron Round]
It’s like in the moment that he blinks, they are suddenly within another arena, though slightly different from the last. More metallic, more confining. And the enemies across the way are giant beasts of metal, unlike anything Kurthnaga has ever seen before. Certainly, he has seen things this large, but never any behemoths of metal, of bolts and steels.
He still has his trusty hammer within his hands - he has grown quite used to the bulky weapon and would have been sad to see it part any time soon - but another axe has found itself attached to his hip. And...
Oh.
Oh. His knees feel rather weak as he realises the type of mount that he has now. The creature seems fairly content with the situation, compared to what he’d heard about- no, it was too painful to think about. With a shaky hand, he carefully runs his fingers along the beast’s scales, allowing a moment to get used to his new mount. He fiddles with his second axe, carefully not to scrape his fingers against its purple tinted edge. It seems to be inflicted with poison of some sort. He wasn’t sure if poison worked against these robots, but it was worth a shot. Anything was worth a shot to escape whatever sort of nightmare this was becoming.
Gripping the reins with pale knuckles, he speeds over to the largest robot of the bunch, the one that seems to be their leading. He stands, patting his dragon on top of the head, a silent communication between the two of them as some sort of kin, telling it to stay put for the moment as he leaps from its back to slam his axe into the giant metal beast’s head.
Kurthnaga activates Smash using Venin Axe! Roll 1d20+3= 10! Hit! Critical Damage! (6-3=3) | Alloy Arsenal: Bipedal HP= 17/20.
Minor Poison Damage!
Stunned!
As he falls after his attack, he lands safely back on his mount’s back, and he gives it a soft, nervous pat as a reward for catching him. He glances up, realising the metal beast has been sent into some sort of state of being stunned and turns to his teammates, calling out his advice - though he couldnt be certain how sound it was with no knowledge of these sorts of giant metal creatures.
“It seems to be stunned for the time being! I’d try to attack it now while it can’t attack back, and quickly! Who knows how much time we will have!”

Hanging On By A (Spider) Thread — Team 7 Silver Round
Python wakes. Or...he “wakes”, in a sense. His body is still laid out on the cold hard ground, which means he either rolled out of bed in the throes of this nightmare, or he’s still in it. He dares to crack an eye open. A knitted tapestry of white, wispy silk webs spreads across the ceiling.
“Ugh.” He scrubs at his face with a groan, slowly pushing himself up to his feet. As he moves, the lingering pain in his battered body seems to dissipate bit by bit. Like the dream is propping him up for another great big battle. Fantastic.
Python heals +4HP from Amaterasu, Renewal, and Prayer Ring (Python: 9/10)
He settles back into himself, rolling a shoulder—or trying to, at least. the movement is cut into a smaller motion by the stiffness of his suit jacket. ...Suit jacket? A glance downward confirms it: he's currently clad in a midnight blue tuxedo, complete with a damned bowtie. He undoes the bow with a sharp yank, and immediately feels slightly more at ease without it tucked up against his neck.
A chittering sound echoes off the stone of the arena, drawing Python's eyes back upward. Eight eyes stare back down at him, positioned right above a set of frighteningly large mandibles. The spider descends on a rope of silk, and he swears he can see venom drip eagerly from its fangs. He grasps at his hip for a weapon and finds a familiar baton, wicked and crackling with energy.
"...Yeah, okay. This'll work."
He'd been on the receiving end of this one enough times to take a guess at how it works. With a wave of his arm, a bolt of lightning arcs through the air.
Decoy roll: 4 ; decoy avoided! Python attacks Giant Spider with Electroshock Baton: Roll = 16-6 = 10 ; Hit! -1HP (Giant Spider: 39/40) Giant Spider’s Defense is sealed for one round and is Stunned!
The creature recoils with a shriek, its legs spasming as the electricity courses through its body.
"Hope you folks are ready!" He calls out, "I don't think it's gonna be too happy after that one!"

Sham of a Prince { Katarina & Nanna
As the most successful scammers of the group, “Marth” and “Roy” are your biggest targets. A chance encounter in a large town brings you face to face with the two, but things turn complicated when a crowd forms in support of the imposters. A gaggle of fans proudly support these “down-to-earth princes”, viciously defending them against your supposed slander. Try as you might, just one sensuous “babygirl” from Marth is enough to rally the crowd against you. The puffed-up “Roy” goes as far as to say they are undefeatable in their strength and purity of heart… but can they prove it? [Grants Sword +1]
The concept of imitation was still abstruse to Nanna because it meant that the imitator only had enough substance to make half a man out of themselves. When Scàthach had explained to her that they needed a fake Lord Leif, it had dawned her that the nature of these scammers were no better than the likes of Shannam—who, in her youth, pranced around with King Shannan’s name as a sell sword.  Sighing, she didn’t know if that humanized the scammers or made it just a tad more exasperating on her part, but she supposed he was the one mimic who had been on their side. Retelling Katarina of her woes at fifteen, Nanna recalled Shannam lightheartedly. “—And you see! My childhood friend Mareeta told me that he had somehow taught her Astra…!”
As she waved her arms, animated and amused, Nanna inadvertently bumped into a man who slid his soft hand into hers with one fluid motion. “Excuse me, sir!” She enunciated each syllable, emerald eyes flaring dangerously. “I apologize for impinging on your space, but please unhand me!” Nanna snapped her hand away from him, before she was compelled to do something far more impulsive. She wasn’t exactly the pugnacious sort but…
Indignance seared over the man’s face, whose sky-blue eyes had a vague, insidious glint to them for a moment. His whole body reared away from her, as he flung his pompous blue locks back in spite. “Now, that is no way to treat the Hero-King Marth, miss! If only you were half as serviceable as you thought you were, attempting to lay your hands on me.” This ‘Hero-King’ had hallowed cheekbones and a long maw that must have belonged on the other end of a horse. He shrugged both shoulders, cockily shaking his head as he laughed his way out of his own embarrassment. ‘Marth’s’ blue eyes met Katarina’s and smirked, gesturing to her with a vanity that bordered on flirtation. “Isn’t that right, baby girl?”
Tumblr media
“Don’t you prefer the company of a prince?” He winked.
He couldn't even keep his titles straight.
Nanna raised her hand to him, half-arched to slap his wits about him— only to be grabbed by the wrist by another man with a red fringe that wasn’t entirely dyed. “And now you’re raising a hand to him, too? You should be honored that Hero-King Marth and Prince Roy of Lycia are of pure heart! Isn’t that right, starlings?”
Erupting from both sides of the open square were a group of young girls who clamored in infatuated squeals. “Y-yes, our Kings! You should be glad they are as merciful as they are kind!” A couple of childish voices rang out from the crowd.
“Oh come off it,” Nanna disregarded their effrontery with a scoff and a snap of her wrist, cracking away from this ‘Roy’ character. “Katarina, I think we’ve got our scam—” Nanna stopped in her tracks, as Katarina’s face was contorted in a way nearly unrecognizable. “—mers…”

"Sire..." Her voice crumbles softly into silence as she takes the measure of his injuries, a knit of her brow soon enough undone in... not satisfaction-- that it was she who returned to him felt odd no matter the situation, it seems-- but relief, certainly. Another moment passes, and she places the drink near to his hands; the knight searches in that time for something to say, lips parted but still, until:
"...I've brought you a juice box." At last, a faint smile unfurls, a gentleness touching the corners of her eyes. Relief, warmth, affection... the name hardly matters. "I hear they're very good." Only now does her posture ease, hands held not to her chest in hiding, but by her stomach in simple idleness. After all of this, Katarina finds she does feel emboldened, somehow.
"Next year... Next year, I'll make you proud, Sire." There is even a twinkle in her eye, faint though it may be! And though she means it full-heartedly, there is a levity to her tone -- a joke, in some sense, albeit she has not once in her life made a good one. But she tries; she smiles, for him.
Before the utterance belonging to a single 'sire', violet hair reaches the fringes of his vision first, going on to command its space entirely as he twists upon his seated hip to gaze upon a familiar knight. The circumstances of Katarina's arrival then are made immediately clear- visitation or not, only those who lose their battles find themselves trickling downstream into this particular pond; swimming with the injured, their unfashionable regrets, and those with too much time on their hands. Katarina, following hot on the heels of her lord, has lost.
Within the fast fall of seconds, his knowing expression greets - acknowledges - parses her all in the same breath. This range of activity lands him somewhere in the nebulous ditch between friendly and fatherly regard, but above all, Marth's voice for her is kind. "—Katarina. You did well."
Gauging her foremost, his eyes flicker down to the offered drink last. True to her statement, there is a juice box, and there is Katarina, too. Hands wringing at her chest and standing at the base of her lord's cot awaiting his response, this initial image of her reels in two imaginative, humorous impressions; the one of a wagging tail and retrieved disk in mouth at Marth's feet, or another involving a penitent sinner; her libation placed upon an altar in redeeming gesture. But he knows the other is neither begging for one man's favor, nor beseeching his divine forgiveness, and the amusement he wears is decidedly all to his own.
"...Hm." His laugh is a mystery as Marth gathers the juicebox into his hand and pokes into its orifice with a straw. It is hardly her earnest promise that he pokes fun at alongside, but the fact that Katarina does not know she has already reached its end- his unfurling words, slow and sincere, reveal everything to the mind in due time. "There is no need to look for another year. You have always made me proud, Katarina. Trying one's best, giving one's all... such things matter, too. You needn't bring a lord victory to earn his highest regard, and the same is true for mine." Or a seat at his table for another matter.
If there is one upside for which two losers can be grateful it is the time they can spend together. His free hand pats the space beside him with a smile, more expressive of invitation than any scrawl of ink upon a letter. "Now, then. I know of a way to pass the time. I'd like to know of your battle—and I insist you do not leave out a single detail."

🧃 Katarina stands before the man for a moment, one hand curled self-consciously around her elbow.
"C-could I have a juice box? ...Please?" Her grip tightens awkwardly; she's aware that she appears uninjured. "N-not for me! ...There's... um, someone I want to bring one to... i-if that's okay."
For a military academy, there certainly were some shy students. That was alright. He’d be gentle all the same when needed. “Hm? Of *course.*” Zelkov handed her not one, but two boxes. “For yourself and your *friend.*
“Do not go into combat *dehydrated.*” He got into medic mode, listing off the risks. “Dehydration may lead to *heat* injury such as cramps when *perspiring* heavily, and can also *fog* the mind. You will *tire* rapidly, and should this not be a *mock* battle, perhaps meet an untimely *end.* You *must* replenish your, as some call it, ✨electrolytes✨.”
He finished with a motion akin to jazz hands.

azama vs katarina| boel
[ from here @ephemeralove ]
Katarina goes unnoticed by most of her peers, many of them already engaged in battle, as she wanders further and further afield. Many, but not all.
She is aware of Azama following her (he is a man of many characteristics, but subtlety isn’t one of them), but still – she hopes he and every other unlucky soul with whom she has shared a dream will pass her by. No such luck, of course.
Katarina counters with Thoron! 1d20+4 = 2+4 (6) ; miss! (Katarina 3/5, inflicted with -1 def/res for one turn) Katarina attacks with Thoron at range! 1d20 = 3 ; miss!
It’s little more than a thin, strained exhale that escapes her, one hand flying to her side and the other cradling sparks in its palm. They flicker out.
“P-Professor…” She doesn’t beg him to leave her be, as much as she wants to, but the magic dies in her hands.
“Ohoho! What are you doing, little one, trying to zap me in the rain like that?” It’s a valid question, he thinks, a rare touch of nervousness having fleetingly crept into the monk’s voice. “Do you really want to see a crispy fried Azama? Really and truly? I promise you, it’s not much to write home about.”
And he’d very much prefer not to have to smell it, personally speaking. Perhaps Katarina agrees - her spells don’t reach him, don’t reach much of anywhere in fact.
So he whacks again with his lance, on the other side now.
Azama attacks with Steel Lance. Roll = 12 ; hit! -2HP (Katarina 1/5) (Azama 6/6)
“Oh, but come now!” He changes tact all of a sudden, hopes it doesn’t throw her for too much of a loop. She ought to be used to it by now. “You couldn’t bring yourself to tank for the competition then, but you can’t muster the will to fight here and now?”
He leans back, butt end of his lance (ugh, cumbersome thing, so unwieldy compared to his favoured naginata) dug lightly into the muddy ground.
Brows lift, taunting. Well?

what does erk think of you :3
She's a mage so that's instantly a point to her from him. Another mage is someone that he can learn from, take in the studies of both the magic they have learned at the academy and in their homeland. Very helpful in his neverending pursuit of knowledge.
As for herself, she's quiet and polite, so that's immediately another plus. He typically doesn't like people who are more loud and obnoxious (like Serra.) so Katarina is right up his alley.
Would be fun to just vibe and read with :| (this is a smile)

a fleeting fata morgana
A village’s plea comes to the monastery: almost all of their children have vanished in the last couple days. A natural cause for great concern to be sure, and Garreg Mach does not hesitate to send you and some Knights to check out the situation. The distraught parents are not able to tell you much, but they recall a vague rumor of a “unicorn” appearing in the nearby woods, and the children wanting to see and befriend it. Sounds like the best shot you’ve got. [Grants Riding +1]
@ephemeralove
“A unicorn...” Sophia murmurs. “So they don’t...only exist in books, but what a shame...since I’m probably too old... to see it.”
It’s hard to keep the disappointment out of her voice as she trudges through the forest with no leads to speak of. If she were a child, she could follow the unicorn to where the children are and then...well, she hadn’t thought much further than that. How does one go about rescuing children? Were they meant to comb the entire forest? No, surely they’ve already tried that and that’s why they’ve come to ask for help. She wonders why they’ve chosen her to help find the missing children when the only thing she knows how to find for certain is the way back home.
Sophia closes her eyes and attempts to will a vision of where the children are into existence, but predictably, nothing happens. If she could simply see the future whenever she wanted, it would make things too easy, she supposes.
Sophia addresses her companion for the mission, whom she dearly hopes knows more than she does. “Um, do you...know how to find a unicorn...? Or maybe how to find...lost children in the woods?”

LORENZ IS SOMETHING OF A RARITY—the notion that he would want to be anyone else but himself (noble son, heir to an esteemed house, with dreams of leading the alliance into an age of prosperity) is a foreign concept to him. A boy born with everything and a father’s legacy he yearns to live up to and surpass may be crushing for some, and in some ways, he is aware his hands are tied with decisions he must make and the rigid place in society he will inherit. But it is always Lorenz’s nature to exceed expectations, to do everything and make it seem effortless. He’s happy with the way the world is for him, at least at the very start of where we meet him, in both Three Houses and Three Hopes.
I find it so fascinating, then, to stare at him where things do diverge and begin to go off the rails. Everything that challenges his view of the world, no matter how small, is a revelation he’s not considered. His support conversations with Claude and Leonie across both games—and, even further, his support conversations with Raphael, Byleth, and Shez—paint a picture of a man who believes that the system he oversees works, without ever having considered any flaw in it.
For the longest time, his goal is only exceeding expectations, not making grand changes, and while he spends the majority of Three Houses assuring Byleth and the player that he will not simply bend to his father’s will, we do not get to see him exercise that properly until Three Hopes, when he is handed the title of Count Gloucester so much earlier than anticipated due to his father’s retirement. Lorenz is not completely naïve, but he’s far more idealistic than he would ever care to admit about himself. He truly prides himself on seeing the world as it is, without ever understanding the nuance and underlying issues until they are forcibly brought to his face.
I don’t think Lorenz consciously considers becoming Count Gloucester a rebirth, but it is—that moment, and the subsequent revelations of the full weight of that responsibility changes him for the better, just like the people around him force him to broaden his understandings of the world and introduce nuance to his thinking. That gradual shift in his goals from exceeding expectations to seeing that his duty to his people, and the people around him, are best served with more far-reaching changes and the way it starts with him better understanding the world is a fascinating character arc to me. He would say, at the start, that of course he desires to have a deeper understanding of the world—but the realities of that understanding is something he must first be dragged to, and not without a fight.
But the fight is worth it, in the end. There is a kind heart within all his bravado, and pulling him out of his rigid way of thinking leads to a natural, symbolic rebirth. :]

If the Ethereal Ball is a time for being braver and friendlier than one usually is, Katarina thinks the least she can do is be the first to approach her newfound... friendly acquaintances from beyond the borders of Archanea, for once. Idly turning her signet over between her fingers, she approaches one of the very few of them.
K. A somewhat ungainly letter stands alone in the center of her ring without a surname for company, and for a moment, she thinks to back away and find some cozy, empty corner of the room to hide away in. The thought comes too late; the bend of her knee happens in the same beat that she catches Siegbert's eye, and, offering him a faint, timorous smile, she made her way over instead.
"Prince Siegbert. Would you... want to trade stamps...?"
Carmine catches onto wayward and wandering; Katarina appears as though about to flee, but it seemed that his presence made her think otherwise. She approaches, timid and unsure, but Siegbert knows well that his friend would only come near were she truly comfortable. He’s glad she is.
“Katarina,” he greets with a fond smile, “I believe I’ve told you that there are no need for titles between us, hm?”
Truth be told, he had made little use of his signet ring that night. The previous year had been focused on exchanging signatures; this year, he was more concerned with simply enjoying the night with his friends, despite the fact that the event was meant to garner new connections. With a slight shake of his head, he reaches out to stamp Katarina’s card—noting with a chuckle that he takes the first spot.
“I suppose you’re to give your stamp, but I seem to have misplaced my card. Will my hand suffice?” he asks, holding it out. For the sake of the event, it surely would not. For the sake of the memory, it would.
“I’m in love with your outfit, tonight, by the by—you look absolutely handsome. Would you care to dance with me, Katarina? Or, if you’re not up to it, how about a leisurely visit outside for a moment, where it’s quieter?”

Her fingertips map the edges of the juice box in her hands, becoming well acquainted with the drink's container as she stands off on her own in hesitation. Surely, Kurthnaga has already come by a drink of his own-- the medical staff have been diligent in their distribution of the treat-- but it is an excuse, and she clings to it for that fraction of extra will that at last drives her to approach him.
"Hello, um... Professor." She fidgets with the corner of the juice box again, before divesting herself of her meagre shield and instead holding it out to him shyly, with both hands. It is the least she can do to return some of the effort he has placed into finding her and letting her know she is forgiven, and through his actions afterward he has shown that he meant it.
"This is... for you." Her chin tucks toward her chest abashedly. "I-if you don't want it, then... you can give it away. Maybe to Professor Python or Professor Cecilia, if you see them..." A soft exhale, not enough to be a laugh. "...I don't think you'll see Professor Azama for a while, though."
Kurthnaga smiles at Katarina’s kindness, taking the juice box from her with a grateful bow of his head. She still seems so terribly nervous around him, he hopes that can change a little over time as they get to know each other better, though. Either way, it says a lot that she has managed such a kind gesture even through her nerves, and he truly is thankful for that after such a... well, an interesting battle to say the least. He would have to speak with that former Golden Deer student sometime in the future, even if he did not yet know her name.
“You’re not the first to offer one of these strange juice boxes, but I’ll still gladly take it. Never know when I’ll get thirsty, I’m just sitting here and biding my time, after all.” His nose wrinkles slightly, his soft smile faltering for a moment, at the mention of Python. No, he must- they are coworkers. He does not need to think of him so badly all the time, even if the lazy blue-haired man never seemed to get any work done. He shakes his head softly, letting go of such thoughts, and lets a small huff of laughter escape from his lips.
“I could certainly do without seeing Azama, though. He is the last person I’d want to see right now... especially after embarrassing myself through such a loss...”

Katarina comes in the shape of a soft shell, much like her heart—the young woman seemed reminiscent of how Nanna was when she was younger. But Nanna knew her better than that, having seen a glimpse of her fury firsthand. Nanna's deep admiration for her remained, long after the crease in Katarina's brow and spitfire verbal slings had since crossed under the horizon. Perhaps she had intended not to show anyone that tint in her disposition—iridescent as she was. But as Nanna stood witness to the way her friend caught light in her eyes, she thought that it wouldn't hurt to share this secret between them.
"Katarina..!" She blinked in amusement, as her friend's lips folded into a half crescent, both upside down and right side up in a matter of seconds. Holding out her hand, Nanna offered it to Katarina to hold. "Now, see? I'm in one piece. You need not worry for me." Though her voice is gentle and her touch even gentler, it had the gravity of a woman who should have known better. Her frustrations would prove unfruitful, so it was best she kept that to herself. "I certainly did try, and that's what matters. I don't think I would have fared better sitting on the side lines."
When she laughed, it was like blowing on a dandelion—hearty and light. Worked hard, had she? "As have you! You're not hiding any injuries are you? I have my work cut out for me." Said in jest, of course. She gave her friend a thorough scan, though Katarina must have managed to breech any hazard thrown her way.
"Well, it matters not. Though... if I may have your ear for a moment," She paused, inquiring in earnest—lest she become docile after defeat. With Katarina by her side, however, any birdsong would sound sweet. "I was hoping that you would teach me some Reason-based magic. That is, only if you please." Her smile, though sheepish at first, widened at the thought of rising to a new challenge. "Seems like it's back to the basics for me."
As she clasped Katarina's hands, she held her breath and made a wish. "I have a long journey to go, but having seen it on the field myself, I think I'd like to reach for the moon."
