You were sprinting as fast as you could to Jay’s car, not because you wanted to see the boys that badly, no, you had just seen Sunoo and Jungwon like 20 minutes ago. You needed to beat Riki and with so much luck you did! ‘’ hi’’ you said, opening the car door and meeting Sunoo's smiling face. ‘’I’m not gonna lie, I’m very impressed y/n I thought ki was gonna beat you’’ you hear Jungwon say as you finish buckling your seatbelts. ‘’So did I!’’ you say, still having to catch your breath. ''Look who finally shows up’’ Jay says as Riki flings himself onto yours and Sunoo's lap, probably banging his head on the roof in the process. ''OW your elbow went into my thigh!’’ you say to Niki's face as he lies face down in your lap, ''Regretting the choice you just made there bud?’’ Jungwon said like a mother. ‘’Yes, yes I am,’’ Riki said not bothering to move yet, and it's moments like this where you question how and why you are friends with these guys. Niki and you have gone to the same schools for your entire lives, but when the two of you were in grade school you barely saw him, you both had the same classes he just skipped school. But you remember the first time you talked to him Riki, it was the day of the school sports event, you had just won a potato sack race when you decided to sit down, which you did on a patch of grass far away from the school with your cherry popsicle you had just won, the sun was beaming down o you causing the frozen treat to melt on your hands and before you knew it fall into the dirt where the ants were now enjoying your prize. This was the end of the world for ten-year-old you, sniffing and wiping your tears off you feel a tap on your shoulder turning around to find a boy the same age as you holding out his popsicle to you, ''You can have mine if you want.’’ the boy said, still not looking you in the eyes. ‘’ can we share it?’’ you spoke quietly, the kid just nodded at you. ''I’m Riki.’’ he said sitting down beside you handing you the popsicle, to which you took a bite and then handed it back, ''I’m y/n! Are you new here?’’ you asked ‘’No’’ he said. You saw more of him at school from that day on, you two were now stuck together at the hip figuratively and kind of literally. ''ki gets off of me, you’ve had enough time to process!’’ the giant on your lap just murmured something under his breath and sat in his seat next to Sunoo. ''hold on guys I think I left something in the back of the trunk, y/n can you peak over and lo-’’ ‘’ no need I’m right here!’’ Sunghoon emerged from the trunk cutting off jays sentence and making everyone yelp in shock and surprise everyone except Sunoo he just laughed. ''what the fuck hoon you almost make y/n pee her pants!’’ Ni Ki said clutching his chest ''what the hell dude! Do I have permission to kick him out of the car Jay?’’ ‘’ Yeah, why not!’’ Jay said enthusiastically.

With much restraint you managed to make it to Riki's house without causing his body any harm, jay, Riki, and Sunoo all raced to the front door while you and Jungwon helped Sunghoon out of the back ''i swear to god you vampire Hoon!’’ you pointed an accusing finger at Sunghoon ''maybe I am, maybe I'm not all I know is if I was a vampire wouldn't know.’’ ‘’ Can I start calling you a Cullen?’’ Jungwon said. ''as long as it refers to me being Edward knock yourself out!’’ ‘’I was thinking more of Jasper, you two are very alike!’’ jungwon said before skipping to the house. ''I am not a Jasper I’m an Edward.’’ sunghoon said defensively ''Sure you are bud, sure you are!’’ you say patting his back. running to Riki's front door only to be met by his back to your face. ''why are you standing in the middle of the doorway?’’ you said rubbing your nose ''I was hoping you would be Sunghoon, but you're not so sorry.’’ he said grabbing your face to look at the damage he caused ''you broke my nose!’’ ''I did not. Stop being dramatic’’ he said bending down to your level so he could see your eyes and nose, this boy is going to kill you there was no reason for him to be doing all this, you're not even bleeding. ''follow me, let's go bandage you up.’’ he said with a laugh leading you towards his kitchen. Following his lead you enter his family kitchen that you become familiar with, sitting at the dining table Riki takes out a pack of peas from the freezer and hands them to you before sitting next to you, ''So y/n I wanted to talk about earlier.’’ he said as you placed the peas on your nose, not that you needed it. ''about how you don't know how to draw a circle because I don’t think that's important ki you have many more things you're actually good at!’’ you said trying to act completely oblivious to what he's trying to get at, ''first of all rude, second of all this about what I said at lunch, y’know you helping me talk to Rei?’’ thank god for the frozen peas to cover up how flustered you are ''oh yes that thing I agreed too!’’ ''right, so I was thinking we could make a plan or list-type thing to help.’’ ''wait I just thought I was just gonna get her number for you and this be over with?’’ ''oh no no no, my good pal you’re my wing-woman y/n you're in this for life!’’ he said grinning, letting out a sigh you asked ''I'm guessing you already have a plan huh?’’ you see Riki nodding with glee ''yes- well some of it all I know is I want to ask rei to come with me to the school dance in a couple of months.’’ you were going to respond when you were interrupted by sunghoon spinning into the kitchen ''why do you need to ask some other girl you don’t know when you have a perfectly good candidate here?’’ oh god, you had regretted telling the other boys you had a crush on Riki specifically Sunghoon. ''and who would that be?’’ Riki said confused, please don't say me don't say me ''sunoo!’’ oh thank god. You watched as Hoon looked at you and winked, you should have left him in the trunk. ''hey Riki do you have any more hot coco packs?’’ sunghoon said, Riki looked up from his phone ''No you used them all remember?’’ ''damn it! I can’t have anything! I can’t be Edward! I can't drink my hot coco!’’ Sunghoon mumbled as he left the kitchen. “anyway about Rei I was wondering if you could eavesdrop on her conversations so that” “Absolutely not! I’m not gonna become a stalker for you” “Just this once y/n please!” “no ki…I know Rei volunteers to help in the library every week or some why don’t you, I don’t know see her there?” “so you’re asking me to go to the library of my own free will?” “yes, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal” “Fine.” “GUESS WHOS BACK!” Heeseung said as he walked through the door, Jake followed behind him. After some catching up with the boys, decided to head to the basketball court and play a couple of games. You, however, were now punching yourself in your mind for what you said earlier.

“i mean your abs are pretty impressive, pretty convenient for a washing board though.”

an offended, loud gasp from just beside you, makes you giggle. the cardboard boxes rustle against each other, a few of them being opened up to take out your newly ordered white vases, which your helpful neighbour skillfully places among the wooden shelves.

meanwhile, you wipe off the dust and rearrange the little trinkets on the white showcase, occasionally admiring your handsome neighbours’ work.

“when did you see my abs though, are you lying to me, ms y/n?”, jake scoffs, putting the last vase on the shelf.

you giggle, finishing off your work on the showcase, “i think you're forgetting that our apartment complex has a gym, mr jake,” you walk towards him, an unexpected rise in your heartbeat, “last week.”

“was i on the bench press?”, jake smirks, before catching his lower lip between his teeth and flicking it outside. you don't know what he's trying to do with all that, but he is sure to make your heart beat faster.

“treadmill”, you correct him.

the proximity between you and your striking neighbour increases by the windowsill, where both mild sun rays and inquisitive pairs of eyes can peek in, but it's something that doesn't bother you. after all, sim jake is only here to help you, just a helping hand for you when you've decided to clean and rearrange your apartment.

you don't know how the helping part is kept aside for now, confused at how jake is staring into your eyes, a hesitant but longing step closer to you. he should've been helping you with the bookshelf now, stacking in the new books to the according racks.

but right now he is busy igniting new feelings to your heart.

jake is too close for your own good, left hand threatening to close in around your waist and pull you into such a proximity he has only imagined. he could smear that pink lip gloss of yours now, his hand on you and his mind all dizzy, it would be a perfect weekend for him.

and as he's about to accomplish that, when you swiftly glide out of his imaginary hold on you and pick up the new books to be kept in place, breaking your poor neighbours’ heart.

“that's too much work for a pretty girl like you,” jake was fast, you have to give it to him, well not only in pace but also incredibly fast to make you squeal inside, “i'll take them from ‘ya.”

“you know i can do that myself”, you scoff, leaning against the bookshelf as he snatches the basket full of new books, arranging them.

“yes ma'am”, jake sings, pulling out another giggle from you while he pushes the new books between the old ones, “but i'd rather do it myself you know? wouldn't want your arms all tired.”

you had enough time, strength and leisure to stroll around your apartment and bedeck it, a change of scenario and colours for your eyes, a break from the dust collecting shelves eyeing you from their constant spot. you definitely didn't need another flirty neighbours’ help who could easily pull you into a scandal.

five months ago when you first moved in here, you didn't expect a cheeky, lovestruck neighbour, jake, to knock on your doors every weekend. and even if you're not willing to talk, his flirting skills would find his way to your smile anyway.

so jake became a regular face to witness, a regular voice to hear and a regular touch that you wished would linger for one more second.

“nosy neighbours”, jake reads out the title of the last book on his hand, “ouch, am i a nosy neighbour?”, a dramatic hand over his heart and a fake pout made you giggle harder.

“shut up jake”, you roll your eyes, hitting his arm.

“actually i'd like to borrow this book from ya”,

“you read books too?”, you tilt your head in confusion, an eyebrow raised at his request.

“are you surprised?”, jake giggles, taking a step closer to you as he secures the book in his hand.

“of course i am”, you let out a hearty laugh, hands flying up to your face to cover your flushed cheeks, “i thought all you do is flirt with women and lure them into your apartment”, you tease.

“that's not very nice, ms y/n,” and he goes back to his unnecessary honorific and a dangerous smirk tugging at his lips, making you swoon, “i’m hurt to know you think of me like that.”

jake leans in until he's face to face with you, his hot breath tickles your cheeks and makes them bloom from inside. he's at it again, his infamous grin while he stares you down, his rosy lips are too close to yours.

“the only woman i want to take home is you”, he whispers, pushing a strand of your hair behind your ears. his eyes wander about to face, to your eyes to lips to neck to your eyes again, “do they kiss in the book?”

“no spoilers”, you whisper back.

“fair enough”, jake scoffs, his lips hovering over the corner of yours as he pulls you in by your waist, until you have to create a barricade between you two by softly pressing your palms against his chest. but jake doesn't really gives you what you want, he teases you, grazing his lips over the corners of yours and pressing a light peck on your cheek before pulling back.

he leaves you blushing and stunned, which he likes and smiles at.

“o-ok now i have a lot of work,” you hurriedly grab jake’s hand and begin to drag him towards the door.

“aww are you shooing me away, y/n?”, jake whines, walking the few steps to the exit on his own, “i was just having fun!”

“i wasn't”, you bite your lips, suppressing in a chuckle as you look at him, standing on your threshold.

“oh? is that so?”, jake's eyes widens, he's loving this little act of yours.

as if you didn't turn butter under his touch just a few seconds ago.

“yeah! now off you go jake, i have a lot of things to do”, you try to send him off, lightly pushing on his chest and he's quick to grab your hand.

he brings it near his lips and kisses the inside of your wrist, looking up at you he says, “why don't you come over someday? return my favour maybe?”

all the blood in your body rushes up to your ears and cheeks and you stand still before him, not knowing what to do when you slowly retract your hand. he's intoxicating and he knows it, even if you don't visit him, jake already has an excuse to return his borrowed book to see your pretty face again. maybe you should give it a thought, give him a chance? after all, you can't deny the fact that he does make your heart beat faster.

you clear your throat, “i'll think about it.”

jake chuckles, “you better, ‘want to lure in my favourite pretty girl”, he winks at you, a final blow before he quickly pecks your cheek again, “9:30, i'll be waiting, gorgeous.”

Normally he would be spending his Saturday morning with yn talking about some show she watched that week but ever since he figured out yn has a crush on one of their friends he hasn’t seen her, no, he hasn’t talked to her which is strange since they have the same homeroom.

“So I was thinking we could do this tik tok dance.” Jake said, handing his phone over to riki, who enthusiastically watched, and then immediately started doing the dance in the middle of the sidewalk which caused Jake and the old lady walking her dog to look and chuckle at the dancing boy.

‘’Ok but i get to be in the front!’’ Riki said, turning to Jake, who he thought would have a bigger reaction to his request.

‘’Whatever man, oh which one do you want to go to?’’ Jake said, stopping in front of two different coffee shops that are connected to each other.

‘’I don't care, it's probably the same coffee either way!’’ Riki said, looking back to Jake's phone to study the dance one more time. Jake on the other hand walked back and forth between the two different cafes looking at the little specialty drink boards at both of the entrances.

‘’Lets go here, They have a drink that's just called ‘blue’ and i need to do what it tastes like!’’ Jake said as he watched Riki walk towards him, standing in front of the window the kid finally looked up.

‘’Holy Shit!’’ riki said his eyes landed on yn and Sunghoon smiling and laughing, looking real buddy-buddy with each other.

‘’Dude what?’’ Jake asked, looking from rikis face to the window where he saw two of his friends sitting looking dumbfounded. ‘’Oh it's yn!’’ Jake replied to himself as he started to wave to Sunghoon and yn in the window.

‘’Yn and Sunghoon.’’ Riki just keeps repeating over and over again until Jake decides it would be for the best for Riki and probably himself if they leave this area for a while.

‘’Dude what is wrong with you ?’’

‘’Yn and Sunghoon..’’

‘’Yes as you've said before it’s yn and hoon so what.’’

‘’Yn likes him.’’

‘’WHAT? Why do you think that.’’ Jake said in pure shock, he knows riki can be overdramatic. He just didn’t know to what extent “yn does not like Sunghoon, you’re so stupid dude.”

‘’She 100% does, she's with him right now!’’ riki said too loud, he practically yelled. Jake had never seen his friend like this, he didn't even know what emotion riki was feeling, until he looked down to the kids hand and saw his poor phone getting suffocated by riki's death grip.

‘’Chill out ki! And give me my phone before you break it’’

The two boys never got coffee, after riki gave the poor phone back to jake both of them decided they should just head home. Jake felt like he needed to get down to the bottom of why Riki blew up at him, and he knew the exact person to ask.
