The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) received donations of tens of thousands of dollars each from corporations including Comcast, Intuit, Wells Fargo, Amazon, Bank of America and Google last year. . . in the months after Politico published a leaked supreme court decision indicating that the court would end the right to nationwide abortion access. . . . [Most of the companies] did not respond to requests for comment. An Intuit spokesperson pointed out that the company also donates to Democratic political organizations, and that “our financial support does not indicate a full endorsement of every position taken by an individual policymaker or organization. “Intuit is non-partisan and works with policymakers and leaders from both sides of the aisle to advocate for our customers,” an Intuit spokesperson said in a statement.
so… they effectively cancel out their own donations???? don't get me wrong, i guess i prefer that to a scenario in which they're just helping out republicans, but. at that point are you not just burning money?? baffling to me.
A Bank of America spokesperson pointed to the company’s policy that donations to so-called 527 organizations such as the RSLC come with the caveat that they only be used for operational and administrative purposes, not to support any candidates or ballot initiatives. The CPA, meanwhile, argues that since the RSLC’s operations are explicitly designed to support candidates and ballot initiatives, such a policy is a distinction without a difference. Although these companies did not directly give these vast sums to North Carolina’s anti-abortion lawmakers, the CPA’s analysis is a case study in how corporate contributions to organizations such as the RSLC can end up being funneled into anti-abortion causes. When Republican state legislators successfully overturned a veto from the Democratic governor last month to pass the upcoming abortion ban, nine of [the] lawmakers voting to overturn the veto had received campaign contributions from a group with links to the RSLC. . . . These donations are evidence that corporations are proving to be complicit in the broader movement to limit abortion rights, the CPA non-profit argues, even as many of these companies publicly tout women’s empowerment and employee access to healthcare. . . . Google sent an email to employees acknowledging that Roe v Wade had been overturned and informed them about options for relocating to Google offices in different states. “Equity* is extraordinarily important to us as a company, and we share concerns about the impact this ruling will have on people’s health, lives and careers,” the email stated.

Warner Bros. Discovery Needs Box Office Christmas Miracle, But 2023 May Put Coal In Their Stocking
"Look at these grosses for each of WBD’s 10 releases: Barbie ($1.4 billion), Meg 2: The Trench ($394 million), The Nun II ($268 million), The Flash ($266.5 million), Evil Dead Rise ($146 million), Shazam! Fury of the Gods ($132 million), Blue Beetle ($128.7 million), Magic Mike's Last Dance ($56 million), House Party ($52.8 million), and Mummies ($9 million million).
That’s an average of only about $286 million in worldwide box office per film, and that’s with Barbie doing the heavy lifting by adding literally half of the box office average for each film. WBD gets about half of that or slightly less, so call it $140 million per film average. Now consider the combined budgets for these films is north of $900 million, not including marketing expenses. And let’s be clear, the merchandising for most of these releases — again, Barbie being the main exception — isn’t impressing anyone.
The fact WBD’s big DCEU superhero tentpole releases — The Flash, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, and Blue Beetle — face-planted with a combined $527 million and $175.6 million per-film average is a sign as of a downward spiral barely disguised by Barbie’s enormous success and a great deal of rearranging of deck chairs (read: firing large numbers of employees, cancelling huge amounts of TV and streaming series, gutting available films and series on the [HBO] Max streamer, shelving completed films, and generally infuriating artists and fans alike).
Lucky for Warner, the holiday season might provide some relief.
The family musical prequel Wonka is opening between $35-40 million domestically, on top of $43 million from early international debuts. And The Color Purple, another musical, isn’t tracking toward a large opening but should still have some play through the New Year and help lift the box office overall.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom closes out the DCEU after the shared superhero world’s last eight films over five years have all failed to top $400 million, but the first Aquaman in 2017 was the last blockbuster DCEU release and took $1.15 billion in global receipts, so there’s hope it might break the DCEU curse and leg out once again to a big successful run.
That said, the brand is definitely severely tainted now, so much so that it’s even hurt the superhero genre overall..."

Reflection on my supervisor evaluations and how these align with your future career professional
Overall, I was pleased with my initial feedback in the first of two intern evaluations that came through at the 100-hour mark of the program. At the time, I had a couple of doubts in my writing and adjusting to the style, but this was one of the first things mentioned in the evaluation as an area of improvement and numbing down the expectation, which helped me relax a little bit going forward.  
From the beginning, it was always a goal for me to have a good attitude towards all my work, no matter how annoying of a task it may be and for that to be mentioned throughout my stint to date was very pleasing. This was one of those situations where I was unsure of whether my effort was paying off as entering an organisation with people you have only recently met provides barriers due to the fact that they don’t your usual traits and where you are putting in the extra hard yards to be a better employee. The other main standout in my first evaluation was my video skills being recognised as sufficient content although I made it very clear that it was a weakness of mine from the beginning.

To my surprise, my proof-reading of stories was highlighted as the main area to improve going forward. This shocked me due to the fact that it was my first time hearing this, but when I looked back on my stories to date and considered the changes made throughout that I originally questioned, I took the advice and used the criticism as motivation going forward.  
When the time came to read my second lot of evaluations, I was nervous but slightly confident that I would receive good feedback due to my hard work in the Adelaide trip in October. I was over the moon when I saw that I got the maximum mark possible, and while reading the feedback and seeing that I was ‘without a doubt the best intern the organisation had ever had’, I then knew all my hard work had paid off.  
I received an ‘exceptional’ mark for all areas aside from analytical skills and leadership, where they sat under the ‘very good’ label. Although this is still a pleasing result, it is something I will keep in mind in future opportunities to try and continue growing as a person and an employee.  
It was obvious that the largest contributing factor to my mark was the effort I put in during my trip to Adelaide, which led to a high standard of work for the organisation while I was exposed to a brilliant opportunity other interns don’t usually receive. The best part about this was the fact that the part I enjoyed most is also the area where I impressed. This all but confirms I am exactly where I always thought I belonged.  
All my marks and feedback perfectly align with my goals for the future and provide me with great references for any opportunities that may pop up. I am confident I can continue to work at the level I did as an intern and even lift to a greater standard as I further familiarise myself within the industry.
