well i did it. managed to get some ofmd wips started that exist now in limbo. woo woo. look forward to these haunting me for months.
stizzy sugar daddy au
Rehearsal was, in a word: abominable. Stede has been nursing a ringing headache from Roach’s enthusiasm since noon, confounded two-fold by The Swede’s sudden stage fright and Black Pete’s penchant for being a gloryhound. Stede respects an actor’s vim and vigor to fight for the spotlight, really he does, but must Black Pete be such a veritable roadblock about Stede’s casting choices?
It leaves Stede tired and frustrated. So he calls out, “Izzy, darling!” and claps his hands sharply twice, head throbbing at the noise. He winces. “Time to earn your keep!”
There’s a loud bang from farther in the apartment. Stede leaves his bag and keys by the door, making a beeline for the living room so that he can collapse in a morose heap upon his armchair, legs outstretched. Izzy emerges from the bedroom with a sneer on his face, all buttoned up and sleek and sharp in his three piece suit. “You say shit like this on purpose, right?” he asks, stomping over to the rug beneath Stede’s loafers. He kneels, aggressively taking them off of Stede’s poor, aching feet. “You have to. Fucking- you do know how fucked up that sounds, right?”
and some...i dunno, super dramatic gentlebeard stuff
They drink even though it’s foolish. They are too tumultuous, too jagged at their edges to fit neatly together except in fits and starts. Stede loses control of his longing and touches Ed’s wrist. Ed flinches, nearly knocking over his lonesome chair. His wary gaze in the candlelight is haunted, a punch to Stede’s gut. So he bites at his still busted lip so as to not say anything, to remain still and quiet, and retracts his hand; takes another swig of rum and offers it to Ed.
Ed’s fingers graze his knuckles; his hand fits around Stede’s on the bottle- raising both their arms as he lifts it up to drink.
“Darling,” Stede says, lip throbbing.
Ed says back, “Shhh.”
They drink some more, sip by sip, edging closer with every swallow.

I find myself wondering how things would've gone down with the Hagah contest if Greg and Bob had never rejected the idea of the two special edition sets in 2005 being Dume and Nidhiki.
Because let's not kid ourselves, the Hagah contest was a shitshow. TTV decided to run all four subject characters at the same time, and Eljay and Mesonak took the whole thing on their own shoulders, and as a result it took basically the whole of the year. The arguments started almost as soon as the subject for the next contest was chosen, as some people wanted the creative freedom to do whatever, and some people wanted the designs to be restricted so they'd look good next to Norik and Iruini.
Not helping matters was that the first contest had demonstrated that the community's definition of a Toa was wide and the voters wouldn't necessarily choose something that looked good next to its official compatriots- Helryx is a good MOC, but she's built to match up with the Toa Mata, who were built to a much smaller scale than the entirety of the Order of Mata Nui sets, and she ends up at about eye-level with Mazeka, a character who notes her physically-identical Melding counterpart as being "Tall."
If they didn't have Norik and Iruini as a benchmark, though, that goes out of the window. With all six Hagah unseen, then it's highly likely that we wouldn't know anything about what they looked like. We wouldn't know about the metallic armour, we wouldn't know about the reshaped masks, we likely wouldn't even know about the Metru Build thing. Uniformity would go right out of the window, because of sets like the Mahri and 08 Nuva.
The contest would likely be an even bigger shitshow, of course. It took them around a year to do four characters, throwing two more into the mix would probably take even longer. There's a non-zero chance that a six-character contest doesn't finish before Greg gets laid off. However, it may have started earlier without the initial wave of arguments. Or they could've been just as bad for different reasons.
I think there'd still be a bunch of Metru builds in the contest, even without the two sets as a measuring stick, because the contest was just before (and likely contributed to) the tail-end of the fandom-wide obsession with the Metru build as the "Perfect" Toa (it's not, for the record). Without a whole year of incredibly same-y MOCs, and a contest where we had to judge them against each other, that love-affair may have lasted longer.
However, it's also possible that without there being the two sets, the Hagah would've been a lower priority for TTV. There would've been no incomplete team of official sets to round off. Instead, the characters that likely would've been in that position of being the "Missing" members of a team with two official sets would've probably been the Mangai.
I don't think TTV would've been nuts enough to run nine contests at once, but I do think there probably would've been the same arguments about whether a Metru build should be mandatory and what is a Metru build anyway, just about Tuyet instead.
And without the Hagah contest, I don't think we would've had that wonderful moment post-finals where people who had managed to avoid the hellscape that was the actual forums during the voting process got to see that team of six (mostly) new Toa lined up together for the first time in ages, and getting hit right in the nostalgia feels. For all its faults as an actual process, the Hagah contest ultimately did manage to create a team that mostly looks uniform, and mostly looks like they could've been sold as sets back in '05. The one outlier, Bomonga, still looks great too. I love him being the (relatively) biggest bungus of a Toa to ever grace the GSR, and the MOC's quality definitely outweighs the annoying brain gremlin that says "Lego never would've made him like that." Yeah, they wouldn't have, and it doesn't matter at all.
I'm still going to go to my grave insisting that Nidhiki is just Iruini with a green mask and a different weapon.

Why a Sneak Peek?
One of the things I've seen other writers do is post Sneak Peaks. I've not done that, partially because I've not been on Tumblr long, partially because I'm pants at self-promotion, and partially because I lean hard towards not showing work until it's done. That said… However I know Breanie ( @breaniebree ) through a couple writer/fan groups on Discord. While she worked on A Second Chance (go read, fabulous work, eh) she started asking me questions related to injuries, health care, and such. Because the Healer in my name is for real; I am a Registered Nurse. Breanie sort of introduced me to Sam ( @seriouslysam8 ). Another really good writer, you need to go read Brumous, Bete Noire, and Backstabber. Particularly if you love angst. Yes. The inevitable took place then, Sam asked a few questions about injuries and first aid, specifying magic couldn't be used. And honestly, I really enjoyed reading the chapter in Brumous where the answers showed up. Nicely done! Then I started thinking about something I need for my WiP, Mystic Dream. The Potter's (Ginny and Harry) are away on a trip, bit of a busman's holiday because Harry is attending an international law enforcement conference (with of course a secret magical group of sessions), while Ginny is interviewing some American magical athletes for a book she's working on. And things happen. For a part of this, because the Potters have been here (this particular place in the US) before, I placed one of their favorite places to eat, a pizzaria. They don't get to eat there often, but for two reasons this is one of their top faves. And I needed a name, and didn't want to use O Sole Mio because I'd used that in Proposals already. Did I mention I like puns? And after a convo with Sam I looked at her name. And I asked her a question. And she said Yes, Sure. This leads to why I'm posting, for the first time maybe ever (there might be some one-liners in response to ask memes, I'm not counting those), a Sneak Peek. Quick summary, how to surprise other characters and help develop one of the major charactgers by using one of Major Character's know skills…
Harry nodded, punching buttons on his phone. ‘Wait,’ Gibbs commanded. Harry looked up.
‘We need to do this, now,’ he said, as Gibbs looked at the notepad on Kasie’s counter.
‘Yes, we do,’ Gibbs flipped his phone open, fingers punching numbers. ‘But they know your Great Britain number, they’ll know it’s you calling.’ He held out his phone. ‘Use mine.’
Ginny took Gibbs’ phone before Harry could. ‘They also know your voice, Harry. “I’ve seen your face before.” They won’t know mine.’
‘They threatened you, Ginny,’ Gibbs said. ‘They know you as well.’
Ginny smiled, winking at Harry, who matched her mischievous grin.
‘Not when she speaks, they won’t,’ he said.
Gibbs looked between them both, Bishop’s brow furrowed, her frown growing deeper when she saw Patil smirk as well. Patil caught her eye, raising her own eyebrows. Then Gibbs nodded.
‘Nobody else make a noise. At all. Kasie, record the call. McGee, are you ready?’
McGee nodded. Kasie’s eyes widened as she quickly prepared a microphone, anticipating what was coming. Gibbs nodded to Ginny.
Ginny pushed the dial and speakerphone buttons, and a ringtone filled the room. Once. Twice. Thrice. Four– ‘Hello.’ The same gravelly voice.
‘Yeah, this is Eljay with Seriously, Sam 8Pizza,’ Ginny said, ‘and I’m trying to deliver the Super Supreme you ordered. Having trouble finding your place, it doesn’t want to come up on my MappApp. I’m at Tennessee and E Street Northeast. Could you give me directions?’
Bishop’s jaw dropped when Gibb’s voice came out of Ginny Potter’s mouth. She glanced quickly around the room, Kasie and Torres both wearing surprised faces as well, McGee focused on the workstation where he worked to triangulate the call. Patil smirked at her. Gibbs and Potter simply focused on the phone in Ginny’s hand. Those three knew, she thought. They knew!
Silence stretched a few beats before the gravelly voice spoke again. ‘I didn’t order a pizza.’
‘Oh, come on, man! Says right here on the slip, Super Supreme, Nony Mousse, but then the damn slip got wet and the ink smeared. It looks like one something something maybe six E Street Northeast, but they said they didn’t order pizza either. Seriously, it’s getting close to being a free pizza for you because I can’t find your place. Just give me directions, please.’
Silence again, seconds feeling like hours. Then a laugh like gravel on steel. ‘Too bad for you then, I guess you get a pizza for lunch.’

and then I just never, ever changed my pfp again <3
i should find my old blue one from my early eljay days tbh. WAIT I WONDER IF IT'S STILL ON MY FF.NET PROFILE LMAO I BET IT IS
IT WAS

The Nuva Cube, (almost) as seen in "We Interviewed the Designers of Bionicle 2023! Prototype Sets, Cancelled Models! (Feat. Eljay+Meso!)" by Duckbricks
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There are some Problems: 1. Only two sides can be fully lit up: Tahus and Kopakas. This can be fixed by replacing some of the white pieces in the centre with Trans-Clear and Trans-Lightblue pieces (At cost of stability). 2. There are two pieces that are not connected: one held in by friction, the other by gravity. 3. The build is the most stable one I could find, but is still very unstable.
I would continue trying to refine it, but this was not a nice experience. I welcome yous to try, though!
EDIT: The Cube is now more stable! Link to .io:
According to stud.io it costs 951.6 USD (I assume Americans know what that means)

With the comeback of live theater shows at CCP, I was able to experience what we've been missing these past two years. In the list of things we took for granted prior to pandemic crisis, it includes the beauty of art in the form of live storytelling.
Tumblr media
It feels nostalgic as I enter the studio theater, the cold-air from the full-blast aircon welcomes and embraces its' guests. And the excitement seeing familiar faces from the theater industry, even with our facemasks on. I can tell that many misses and still supports the festival, and they are ready to announce that the live theater shows are back and the industry is very much alive.
I felt a pinch on my chest when I saw the white-markers on the bleachers seats. It simply indicates the physical distancing in seating arrangement. I guess, no brushing-elbows "literally" with other audience this time. But what is Virgin Labfest without the jeepney-ride feels? Especially, when the all tickets were sold out. Will there be a chance for those who are hoping for stand-by tickets outside the Box Office?
The contagious vibe of excitement is pretty obvious within the black box during the Technical Dress Rehearsal. There's the shift of moods from genuine laughters with every punchlines, to bitterness reaction when the gloomy atmosphere kicks in during the dark plot scenes and the their sighs on heartbreaking parts. The applause with every curtain call shows the mixture of emotions and messages - the support to the production and to being able to watch live theater again. Indeed, these are the experiences that we missed with its' two year absence. I can't even remember that it felt like this before pandemic.
With this year's Virgin Labfest, they put a them with each set. “Life is Strange Fiction” is for Set B and it triggers the rollercoaster of emotions with the combination of plays it consist. First, is a much-disturbing piece by Jerry o’Hara, entitled “Liberation” which was set in a Japanese occupation; then “Absurdo Events Day” by BJ Crisostomo, wherein the events coordinators still doing their jobs as the world ends and where everyone burst-out-laughing in aone-scene loop with a multi-genre play “Nay, May Dala Akong Pansit” by Juan Ekis.
Set A has “Life is Full of Surprises” theme and offers an unsettling reality-bites type of stories. From “Mga Balo” by Maki Dela Rosa which tackles the struggle of a writer, writing about the widows of EJK victims; followed by “Bituing Marikit” by Bibet Orteza that unravels the secrets of a family members of men including their mother; up to “Walang Bago sa Dulang Ito” by Eljay Castro Deldoc that tells a story of a millipede researcher, when she finally fought for justice, life shows her how rotten the system is.
With its' 17th year, the Virgin Labfest Hinga featured 12 one-act plays divided into four sets. It will run from June 16, 2022 until June 26, 2022, with sold-out seats, live at the Tanghalang Huseng Batute. After the live theater week, there will be online show at ticket2me.net from June 30, 2022 until July 10, 2022.
