Elisa Maza: Guardian of the City by Jade Gretz

Elisa perched precariously on the gargoyle of the clock tower, the wind whipping at her hair as she surveyed the scene below. Gothic spires, usually bathed in the comforting glow of streetlamps, seemed to writhe like skeletal fingers beneath the cold, pale moonlight. An unnatural mist clung to the cobblestone streets, obscuring the gargoyles who usually stood guard with Elisa. They were silent, their stone forms frozen in a tableau of terror.

From the heart of the mist, a monstrous figure emerged. It was Demona, yes, but not the Demona Elisa knew. Gone was the sleek, panther-like grace of the gargoyle clan leader. In its place stood a grotesque parody of a gargoyle, a creature seemingly stitched together from nightmares. Its wings, once powerful and elegant, were now tattered and dripping with a black ichor. Its eyes, once intelligent and calculating, glowed a sickly green, radiating a malevolent energy.

An inhuman shriek, a sound that crawled under Elisa's skin and gnawed at her sanity, split the air. Demona’s monstrous form unfolded, its limbs extending into impossibly long, whip-like appendages that slithered and pulsed with a grotesque life of their own. Those limbs, she realized with a surge of horror, were the stone forms of Demona's clan, twisted and warped by some dark magic.

"Elisa Maza," Demona's voice rasped, a distorted echo of its former self. "You have interfered for the last time." The monstrous form twitched, its elongated limbs snapping and snarling in a display of predatory anticipation.

Elisa knew this wasn't Demona – not entirely. Something dark, something ancient and evil had infected her former ally, twisting both her form and her mind. A wave of grief threatened to engulf her, but Elisa pushed it down. There would be time for mourning later. Now, there was only survival.

Drawing upon the years of training she received from Goliath and the other gargoyles, Elisa reached into her backpack, retrieving the weapons Goliath had insisted she carry – a length of climbing rope, a hefty grappling hook, and a pair of throwing daggers glinting silver in the moonl …(see the rest of the story at deviantart.com/jadegretzAI). Lol yeah, I just honestly didn't want to start a fight. Like, if someone comes at you that angry, they aren't interested in hearing a legitimate point about the culture of the space they are occupying. They want to be thold they're right.

That's the easiest way not to end up with people pissed at you for a joke that literally no one would bat an eyelash at in any other website, let alone THIS one lmao

Elisa Maza: Champion Against Evil by Jade Gretz

Rain lashed against the NYPD rooftop, a relentless symphony that mirrored the storm brewing within Elisa Maza. Hunched over a weathered tome by the flickering light of a squad car's dome lamp, her brow furrowed in concentration. The book, an ancient grimoire scavenged from a suspected cult raid, spoke of a forgotten magic – dark, potent, and capable of bending reality itself.

Elisa had always been a skeptic. Magic, in her world, belonged to children's fairytales and tourist traps. But the gargoyles were living proof of the fantastical brushing against the mundane. This grimoire, however, whispered of a power different from the stone magic that animated Goliath and his clan. This was primal, corrupting, a whisper from the abyss.

The gargoyle clan, her nocturnal family, had been unusually quiet lately. Goliath, their stoic leader, had withdrawn, citing an unease he couldn't explain. When Elisa pressed him, he spoke of a "shadow over the city," a feeling of impending doom. Now, with this grimoire in her hands, a horrifying connection began to dawn.

A sudden thump on the metal railing startled her. Elisa spun around, heart hammering against her ribs, to see Lexington, the youngest gargoyle, perched precariously on the edge. His normally bright eyes were clouded with worry.

"Elisa," he rasped, his voice tight with urgency. "Goliath needs you. He says… he says the shadows are moving."

Panic clawed at Elisa's throat. The gargoyles, with their enhanced senses, would be the first to feel the disturbance mentioned in the grimoire. "Where?"

"The abandoned clock tower, by the docks," Lexington squeaked, his wings twitching nervously. "Something dark is gathering there."

Elisa didn't hesitate. Trusting Lexington's instincts completely, she grabbed a spare flashlight and a tactical vest from the back of the patrol car. "Stay put, Lexington. I'll handle this."

She knew it was a fool's errand. Going alone against an unknown magical threat was suicidal. But Elisa, ever the protector, the heart of the Manhattan Clan, wouldn't abandon her stone family.

I don’t know about you but i know i’m seriously fucked when i see characters interacting and they hit jackpot of almost every, if not all, kinds of dynamics where:

“i have strong feelings toward you but i know once i am able to touch and hold you i won’t know what i should do with these hands when you’re away”

the sun and the moon

the moon and the sea

the sun and the well-loved, dying sunflower

“i’d do anything for you” | “then live for me / live with me”

“i’d kill/die for you. say the word and i’ll do it in a heartbeat” | “no”

“i don’t know where else to go to” | (visibly angry) “who did this to you?”
