Tf2 fans, how are we feeling about mythical creature aus. Personally i LOVE them and i have my own little artworks and ideas and i just adore them AUGHH,, i love being cringe,,, ramble/art below the cut

Backstory for this pic is Scout heard that Sniper's double his size and tried to prove he's tough enough to get him off the ground, which he somehow managed.

Ive got my own assigned creatures to all of the mercs like scout being a shark merman, soldier being a minotaur, spy being a betta fish merman, etc. etc. I might post about em more soon if anyone's even interested in this, but for now i'll list them in the tags :-)

Ive set up this whole backstory about how they're all together too,, the admin is just this crazy rich gorgon lady and, in exchange for providing them protection and money, gives em specialized work. She essentially pays off the humans to ignore the workforce she's collected/the rather strange jobs they do,,

The main crew pretty much just does the same old merc work from the comics. They arent necessarily "special" despite everything i just told you. Yes, theyre creatures of myth, but there's more than enough beasts on the administrator's force to take care of those other odd jobs you might expect a mythical creature to handle. They're the same old team but mythified i suppose

Tentaspy and vampire medic are pretty common examples of this type of media and i love em both to death, but i made different versions of them for this trope. i appreciate being able to make this weird, fun, cringy artwork for myself and i hope if you've read this far you like this type of stuff too

Christmas Headcanons - Tf2

Don't worry, there's more to come. I just want to post this before Christmas. This list will be updated soon, Don't worry (:

Most mercenaries will either give a genuinely thoughtful gift, one to show that no matter how many tough times there are, they still care about them... Or it's the most traumatizing shit ever, intentionally or not. Some land in the middle, sure, but they probably swing one way over the other.

Scout and Engineer will secretly get up early in December to put up the tree and decorate it. Scout was invited once during his first years as a mercenary, and now helps do it every year. He always helped do it with his mom, and it gives him a sense of that childlike innocence he 'lost' a long time ago.

The Elf on the shelf they had was kept in storage until the first of December, and then it was let free to do as it pleases...For you see, Merasmus had cursed it and now it has a conscience until Christmas day. Honestly no one knows how it gets out every year. ( It was Pyro's doing.) But Medic's the one to always lock it back up. Eventually, they just made Sniper throw it in a river and calld it a day. Hasn't come back since, so they assume the issue has been dealt with.

Spy tries and stays locked up in his room for the duration of the holidays, but the rest of the team always breaks down the door to get him out. Spy hates having to pay for new doors.

Demoman, Sniper, and Engineer always try and play a few Christmas jingles every year. If they already did all the good songs last year, Demo will just get drunk, make up new songs on the spot, write them down, and use them next year. The problem is they don't write down any of the notes, only lyrics, some words are smudged due to booze, and it's barely legible. But they try and come up with something, and no matter how bad the results are from the last year they enjoy themselves.

Mistletoe, no matter where it is, will always be burned down by Pyro. Someone could be holding it and Pyro would just take out a match, light it and just set it ablaze.

Christmas movies are played constantly, as Pyro sits as close to the TV as possible, and Scout just tries to get even a slight glimpse of what's playing. Some of the things that play are 'Somewhere in Dreamland', 'The night before Christmas', and 'Christmas comes but Once a Year'. Before Scout could rebel and push him out of the way, Heavy not so subtly reminds him of Pyro's abilities. Besides, it keeps him from burning down the tree to watch a shiny object get even shinier.

Scout watches these with him not only to make sure Pyro doesn't get bored, but he also finds animation pretty cool. It makes him see 'how much cooler his art style is'....But no, he isn't crying, you're stupid.

Spy is the one who does all the Christmas shopping. They all just hand him a list and he supplies. Nobody knows where he gets any of it. But each and every request (within reason) is met. Meaning that soldier never gets anything off of his list. Instead, they just get him an American flag and other such patriotic frivolous items.

Heavy's tolerance for the others antics surprisingly increases, as it reminds him of how his younger siblings were around this time of year. Spy...It cannot be said the same for, the Christmas spirit has not affected him, and he grows more pissed each minute. He just sort of tries to manage through the year, but all he thinks about are less christmas-y and more gorey.

TF2 fanfic ideas I never ended up writing (either because they weren’t very good or I just lost interest):

- A one shot where Sniper and Demoman cook dinner together but end up having a really long conversation about what the best type of sauce is

- Engineer adopts an orphaned teenage girl (her name was Maria, I think? I actually posted stuff about her years ago but idk), this one was okay but there wasn’t a lot of substance to it

- The mercs team up with another team that’s made up of mostly women, these were not genderbends or anything and they would have been OCs that I spent time developing. Other people have done this idea way better than I could tho sooo not going back to this one

- A story about Engineer as a child and his relationship with his father, part of this actually ended up being reused in my multichapter series

- Scout befriends some strange little forest elf/fairy but Pyro really hates it for some reason

- Soldier finds his biological mother, who has been locked in a facility for several years because she has some sort of telepathic power where she can break people’s bones with her mind or something? Idk this one got stupid so it never saw the light of day

Hey sup got any Fantasy Tf2 au ideas still?

Uhh instead of a rocket snipers DNA donors built a huge drill, which activated a nearby underwater vulcano destroying fantasy new Zealand, and that's how he got to his parents in the underdark. Sniper also can't swim and tends to avoid larger bodies of water so it was quite a shock to him when he did fell in later in his life and realized he could breathe underwater. He wears sunglasses everywhere since growing up in the underdark gave him lightblindness

Medic uhhhhh I'm torn between him really showing why healing magic is terrifying and also considered necromancy in the pathfinder system or him being a warlock (he does canonically have a contract) who kept learning how to do crazy healing and mad science the mundane ways cause healing with magic is easy. Vivisectionist (pathfinder Alchemist Archetype) is such a medic class

Heavy can turn into a giant cave bear because i think it would be cool. I'd put him in barbarian because he does genuinely enjoy fighting. In the pathfinder setting his family fled irissen

Engineer building constructs is a given in most fantasy au's but hear me out: engineer in a fantasy setting with a gun. He is also a gunslinger who outfitted his constructs with them while the rest of the world doesn't know what a gun is. Dwarf would be the usual race to go for but idk. Maybe gnome

Spy could either be a shapeshifter or a normal rogue who is genuinely good at his job and also very good at using magic items. He is a high elf

Scout is a half elf. Maybe the other half is sylph? He is a celestial pact warlock but honestly monk fits better power/mobility wise but I honestly can't see him fit in a monastery

Demoman is an Alchemist but the bombonomicon or however it is spelled has the marking of a few Oracle levels. His oracle curse is depth perception and his mystery is explosions

Demo and medic make pyro her Alchemist's fires which makes him very happy. Oracle with tounges curse and fire mystery would fit pretty well. Or a fire kinetist.

Soldier is undead. He died at some point but was too stubborn to stop fighting

Thanks to ai dungeon the down-underdark now has blue cave kangaroos, cave cows which are just big red kangaroos and talking skunks

Scout: Swashbuckler Rogue, since he’s a nippy little bastard that will get in, wreck you, and get out before you can even blink. Human, but with some low-key elf genes that unfortunately manifested visually as “weedy” rather than “elegant”.

Soldier: Bald Eagle Aarakocra Battlemaster Fighter. I really considered him being human, because basic, but flying is just too important for the Soldier.

Pyro: Only ever casts Fireball, you don’t know what race they are under their mask, but Fire Genasi is a good bet. The Cleric of some kind of Fey being that’s been having fun making him think he’s in Pyroland.

Demoman: Dragonborn Evocation Wizard. He learned to explode things real good from a book that cursed his eye out, but exploding things has always been the family gig. Probably also has wings.

Heavy: Goliath Barbarian. Tanky BIG b o i.

Engineer: Artillerist Artificer. Halfling for that country charm.

Medic: Tiefling. Some horrid munchkiny multiclass like the Coffeelock, which oddly enough tracks with the lore. His interest in taking things apart to analyze and make abominations from extend to the metagame itself. Archimedes is his familiar. Probably would get too excited about Mind Flayers.

Sniper: Ranger. Possibly Assassin multiclass bc headshots are nasty. What are fantasy TF2!New Zealanders like? Aasimar? Triton?

Spy: Assassin Rogue. with just enough of a multiclass dip to get Disguise Self and maybe invisibility. Maybe he just took the Magic Initiate feature. I don’t think I need to explain this one. Elegant half-elf.

Saxton Hale: Open Fist Monk. Half-orc. Infinite stats.

scout: night elf, feral combat druid (Nothing but cat form. He will be nothing but cat form. If you tell him to tank he will fail to crowd control and you will die. also he’d probably roll a girl) OR a very annoying troll rogue im not sure. he has a lot of chat macros and he spams them (specifically /rasp and /chicken)

soldier: human, protection/retribution paladin (for the auras/buffs and the cool horse). buys cool looking things from the auction house even if they arent his gear class, and spends all his time in arenas. also the alliance guild master

pyro: gnome, fire mage (Obvious) OR destruction warlock (for the power trip and the cool FIRE horse), never talks but fills the guild bank with rare goodies and always helps a lowbie. i think theyd play as a girl because girl gnomes are so cute

demoman: dwarf, arms warrior so he can charge in and scream at people (he can have engineering for the explosives), double teams with soldier to annoy hordies and do arenas, often found running directly into walls or off ledges

heavy: orc/tauren, protection warrior (the MVP, is the one who knows cooking/fishing, also does mining and blacksmithing, absolute king) OR for if he’s tauren... possibly feral combat druid (specialising in tanking). also the horde guild master

engineer: gnome/human, arcane mage (you’ll never guess what profession he has) OR tauren beast mastery hunter (for da pets and also moo, i think he’d go as a girl in this case). his pet would be a wolf. also hes the one who researches the dungeon before the group goes in so he knows all tactics/routes and gives everyone really cool UI mods and addons

medic: undead, discipline priest (but he’s partly specced into shadow as well, he’s a pocket healer for heavy as usual, they kill it in PvP). learned how to make orcish/gutterspeak readable in common so he could mess around with alliance players

sniper: troll, marksmanship hunter he’s that hunter always doing their own thing in the dungeon but never dying and topping DPS (also he does skinning/leatherworking). his pet is an owl

spy: night elf, assassination (or subtlety) rogue and i hate him he one shot me. also rolls need on gems in dungeons and plays the auction house for a chump. trolls people in world chat while gold farming... but he will help you if you’re being camped
