new art of our genshin ocs? its more likely than you'd think. we could talk about these guys forever, they are really fun and have quite a bit of in universe lore, but for right now, we've just got art of them, and the ability to spin them around in our head lmao. we updated them for fontaine, because it feels like the sort of place they'd end up spending a lot of their time. the character designs for fontaine are so fun, we did not do the region justice lol. anyway, first guy is malik, he's a dottore segment oc (yes, we know about them all getting destroyed, but fuck that). he's a catalyst user who wields an electro vision and uses a lot of potions and inventions. the second is agent ektor snezhevich, resident pretty boy, big brother to more siblings than you'd expect and fatui agent. he's a hydro sword user with shield abilities. (also ignore the fact malik's skintone is completely wrong in the portrait, we have no idea how that happened.) anyway, here's your call to make self insert genshin oc's, they are fun.

There’s only two days left to see ektor garcia: esfuerzo at James Fuentes. The enchanting sculptures inspire curiosity and encourage the viewer to imagine the story behind the work while also admiring their construction.
From Art Daily about the exhibition-
Each of ektor garcia’s exhibitions are more like a marker of a moment of pause in his work, rather than a presentation of something complete or discrete. In this way his works are evidence of a continual natural progression, as things build on top of each other, evolving. In relation to the specific time and place of this newest exhibition; it marks a cyclical continuation of the garcia’s presentations at the New Museum in 2017 and Sculpture Center in 2019—both of which moments in the artist’s life when he was traveling a lot, largely moving between Mexico, being on the road, and New York, specifically. This is the case once again, today:
For this show garcia traveled from his studio in Mexico City, suitcases filled with materials, to occupy the basement space below the gallery at 55 Delancey St in the lead up to the exhibition’s opening to the public. He has also retrieved objects previously exhibited or in storage—for example a 15-ft copper link piece recently exhibited at the Henry Art Museum has been broken into smaller pieces, added to and reconfigured into a new work(s). The exhibition title, esfuerzo translates to effort; as in a big push, like a birth, which feels apt for what the artist does. Pieces come together little by little over a long period of time; and the work comprises many small parts that each reflect his esfuerzo in making them. Another translation for esfuerzo could be output; and, shortened, fuerza means strength. Via his artistic practice, garcia is the conduit or vessel through which that life-force runs, resulting in an output that is this body of work. garcia is constantly making, hands always moving; this is simply part of how he lives his life. The work therefore isn’t made toward constructing a larger conceptual conceit; instead, its making is its meaning, the working is the work. Its presence in the space is evidence of all this; making room for it to be approached and even interceded, we inherently take part in the work’s life cycle, even potentially changing its course by entering this domain.
This sense of force, therefore, isn’t tied to garcia’s hand only, but relates externally as well. One piece in the show, cochinilla (2022), is woven from wool dyed red from the shell of the cochineal insect. Last year it was installed on the exterior of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Monterrey, Mexico, and upon taking it down garcia’s realized it had become sun bleached unexpectedly. With other pieces he more deliberately pushes, forcing change, for example by using a blowtorch against copper to catalyze an oil-spill patina. Over time, crochet has been one constant; a crocheted piece needs time, and then it meets time. In his words: “The materials are vibrating back and forth, taking turns. That is how they evolve.” And so although the works reference the past they do not prioritize it; likewise the future. Rather, in the style of the ouroboros, they are cyclical, perpetual, and most generous about the present.
Artist Cy Gavin wrote this piece to accompany the exhibition, which is worth a read as well.

EDGE EKTOR
First Appearance: RWI - The Story #19
Dimension: Heroes of the Cosmos
Allegiance: Evil
Edgar Ektor was destined to be evil as even as a child he was rich, spoiled and devious. Not even his love for the circus could stop his villainy as a prank he wanted to pull at the Circus almost ended up killing a lion. With that, he was forever banned from the World of Amusement Circus and Funpark. And whatever little hope for him to be good died that day as he swore revenge on the circus.
After his family suffered from a strange disappearance (with rumors of it being him causing his parents’ to die in a car crash), he took that inheritance and turned it into an Industrial Giant. But even after 20 years, he couldn’t stop his hatred for the circus that banned him. So he formed the Psycho Circus Gang and attacked the World of Amusement Circus and Funpark. Despite all his planning and money, Ektor was defeated and knocked off a bridge. But Zero saved him in time before he could hit the ground.
While Plan A failed, Ektor had a second plan coming along. While Zero built a machine to Ektor’s desires, his other minions would send Aero on a wild goose chase across the planet. By the time Aero figured out the truth behind Plan B, it was too late. Zero completed the machine and Ektor was going to use it to take over all circuses. Aero defeated him, hoping to never see the evil Clown Industrialist again.
After the defeat, he was exiled from the mainland and was last seen on an island off the coast of America. He was likely planning something, but what isn’t known as before his exile Zero was seen heading to Stoney Forest to stop Jacques Le Sheets. When he did, he found out Ektor was the one responsible for it. He was ultimately defeated, with nobody knowing if it was truly for good. But if he’s still out there, he’s likely going to go after both Aero and Zero.

Current version ripped from Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel
Fun Facts:
This updated story is based off the GBA port of the first Aero game.
Yep, he did kill his parents.
Despite having a first appearance, he never appeared in my comics. Only in text.

I am in the weird phase of my writing process where I am both planning, outlining, and writing. A good deal of the planning becomes clear when I have written more and become more acquainted with the characters and the world.
As she entered she found her father sitting with slumped shoulders at his desk while her mother stood near the window with her arms wrapped tight around herself. She glanced at them each as they turned at the sound of her entry. “Father, you asked to see me?” King Ektor nodded and did his best to sit up straight, though Reena could clearly see the exhaustion and turmoil in his face. “Yes, come. Sit." Reena looked again at her mother who turned away to the window, giving the distinct impression of hiding as she did so. “What is this about?” She asked, her eyes lingering on her mother’s back. “We’ve reached an agreement.” Her father’s voice was steady with a note of finality. “With Kalt? Vonterre?” Reena started. “Yes.” Reena looked wide eyed at her father, “I…How…but what of, of, your promises…” She stammered as a hundred ideas formed in her mind and tried to pour out at once. Surely he couldn’t mean he’d made an agreement to join, to give up their sovereignty and submit to the whims of Kalt and it’s king. “The King offered a condition that I believe will ensure that Adullam is protected from some of the worst of Vonterre’s ideas.” He looked away from Reena. “What condition?” Reena frowned, noting something shame begin to color his face. After a long pause he met her eye again. “That a princess of Adullam would reign as queen of Vonterre.” Reena sat in stunned silence. How could he submit to doing that to his own daughter who was raised and trained to take his place on the throne? To change from a refusal to take part in the cancerous kingdom of Vonterre to marrying his own flesh and blood into it? “You are sending Cassandra to be married to that, that monster of a man? How long do you think that will last? How long before he…before…” Her voice trailed off as her father’s gaze drifted from her’s once more, the look of shame now obvious. “Oh, sweet Vontis, you aren’t sending Cassandra are you?” her voice came out just above a whisper. Her father turned back to her eagerly, “King Kallias didn’t wish to interrupt the succession for the Adullam throne. Our family will still rule in Adullam as a providence of Vonterre. And you,” he paused looking at her with sorrow as tears spilled from her eyes, “you must be our voice in Kalt. As his wife, he may listen to you. At a minimum, the homeland of the queen has to mean something.” Reena stood, pushing the chair back and stumbled away from her father. The room suddenly felt extremely close and airless. Without another word she turned and fled.

Another Hallmark movie drama down! Let’s go!
I don’t know what it is about cooking movies, but I always end up enjoying them. This was truly no exception. Of course the sights of the water were beautiful. But that was never an question. The story was fairly simple but it worked so well. I thought both Emma and Ben were great characters. Of course what’s a HMM/Drama movie with some dramatic stuff. The reasoning between Ben not surfing and Emma’s re-self discovery, it was a nice mesh between the two. Also I oddly like the fact the ex turned up on the island as part of the competition rather than towards the end for the added drama. Another thing I loved was Emma’s aunt June and Ben’s brother Frankie. The friendship between Emma and Frankie was cute. I really appreciated the confrontation between Ben and Frankie. We don’t see that often in there movie, so it was awesome to see. Actor wise, of course I love Lacey so anymore she does I’m excited for. it was cool to see Ektor back in his second Hallmark film. He makes a very charming leading guy. Lacey and Ektor together were wow! Once in awhile you get those chosen pairings that bring heat and passion and just extra goodness to these movies and this was one of those duos. I was excited for them and they truly did not disappoint. Everything about this movie was solid.
Rating: 3 - I wouldn’t change anything about this movie. Sure we’ve seen beachy and cooking movie before, but this one easily stands on it’s own feet!
What did you think of this movie? What did you like/dislike about this on? Feel free to let me know!
