Through Thick And Thin
Fandom: Sonic the Hedgehog
Type: hurt/comfort, platonic fluff
Word count: about 2700 words
Author’s notes: this year was a mess. But I’m grateful for a few things that happened to me in 2020. One of these things is getting into the Sonic fandom, which helped me find joy in being creative again. Another is a budding friendship with someone really cool, that I can only hope will last for a long time.
This fic is kind of a gift to that person for New Year’s Day. To everyone, but especially to you O, I wish a happy new year and many good things to come.

It was not an easy morning.
Shadow had always been an early bird. He never needed much sleep compared to other mobians, thanks to his bio-engineered origins. This was both a blessing and a curse, depending on the days.
Being able to stay up most of the night during missions proved useful more than once. On the other hand, when ugly thoughts would assail him and sleeping them away was not an option, well… It was suddenly much less interesting.
On this last day of December, the hedgehog could not shake uneasy feelings. Between Eggman’s plotting and his own personal issues Shadow always had rough times, but this year had been… a lot.
Walking silently in the empty corridor, careful not to wake up anyone in the household, the dark mobian reached the kitchen and started preparing hot chocolate. Since most of his friends knew about his sweet tooth he didn’t bother hiding it anymore, and Rouge always made sure they were stocked up on cocoa.
While waiting for the milk to warm, he glanced at the clock on the wall. Tick. Tock. Tick. Tock.
The eerie calm of early hours often made Shadow slightly uncomfortable. Despite his introvert side enjoying the peaceful solitude, it was also a moment where his thoughts would simmer in his mind, either awoken by confuse dreams or simply emerging as the day started. He would often put some music or read a book to avoid thinking too hard about it.
Didn’t always work, though.
Taking a deep breath the hedgehog felt some relief at the sweet scent of chocolate. He took a small sip before moving to roll himself in blankets on the large couch. With a long and noisy yawn he reached for the remote and pointed it at the large TV screen in front of him. Maybe there was something nice to watch while waiting for his roommates to get up.
- - - - -
When Shadow opened his eyes again, sunlight was gently glowing through the translucent curtains of the living room. Which meant it was probably kind of late already. It seemed he fell back asleep at some point.
With a frown, he rubbed his dishevelled quills and took a look at his phone. Almost 11am, and no sign of Rouge or Omega... This was odd, especially since they planned on spending the New Year’s Eve together.
That’s when he noticed an envelope lying on the small coffee table, next to his now empty mug. It was plain kraft, with a small card inside that only offered an address and the words “At noon, don’t be late hun”.
Obviously from Rouge. She loved putting mystery and drama in everything she did. Shadow huffed and shook his head.
Irredeemable.
Did that mean his friends got up without waking him and prepared some kind of surprise? However silly it was, this simple envelope brought some warmth to the hedgehog’s heart. He got up to take a quick shower and prepare for the day, a small smile peeking at the corner of his lips.

The location was one Shadow didn’t particularly recognise, a small intersection in a popular part of the town. Since Team Dark lived in a suburban area and their job at G.U.N was usually all over the world, his knowledge of the city was lacklustre. Right as his phone displayed 12pm a text popped up on the screen.
Rouge Right behind the shoes store, a cafe.
The striped mobian rolled his eyes with a hint of amusement. Even for something as simple as a New Year between friends, the bat couldn’t help making some kind of fun game to play. Shadow would gladly proclaim it futile and childish, but he actually enjoyed these quirky adventures his best friend always peppered in his life.
What he saw next filled him with pure joy. Of course Rouge wouldn’t choose a random cafe to meet. She had to make it extra one way or another, and she just knew how to please him.
The Gentle Garden Chao Café & Flower Shop
Almost giddy at the idea of having some sweets surrounded by chao, the ultimate lifeform stepped into the small establishment. A quick glance around made him happy beyond words: soft muted lights and warm colours complemented vintage furniture, large potted plants adorned all sides of the place, and —most importantly— chao of every kind were all over the place, either walking, being cuddled by clients or sleeping on small pillows.
In the back of the room was a large counter, behind which a massive chalkboard displayed both the cafe menu and prices of various flower arrangements.
Before Shadow could go and talk to the barista, a familiar face caught his attention. Rouge was there, sitting nonchalantly and sipping some drink in the most ostentatious way possible.
The hedgehog smirked and sat in front of her.
“So...?” he started with a raised brow. “So what? Did you think I’d let you stay home for this special day?” Rouge huffed between two exaggerated sips. “It’s just New Year’s Eve, not an anniversary or something...” Shadow said, glancing at the table.
He realised an order of white chocolate cappuccino —his very favourite drink— and forêt noire —one of his favourite sweets— were set in front of him. For a second he felt something rise in his chest. A mix of gratitude and that odd yet pleasing vulnerability he could only feel with his closest friends.
“I know it’s just the new year.” the bat leaned on the table, her eyes both tender and serious. “I also know you haven’t been doing great lately. It’s been a difficult time, and of course it won’t magically be over as midnight comes, but...”
She looked in the distance, her eyes piercing through the windows and their cold winter lighting. Shadow could very clearly feel the bittersweet essence of her expression. This year had also been hard on her.
“We’re in this together, y’know.” she resumed, turning a gentle smile towards him. “And while I can’t resolve every problem we have, I can at least invite my emo bestie to enjoy some chao and indulge in sugary treats!”
The hedgehog chuckled at this, then raised his cappuccino mug. “Let’s have a good time, then. To us bitches.” he said with a knowing grin. “To us bitches!” she exclaimed happily. ”Now drink that ‘ccino, we have chao to cuddle.”
Some laughs and friendly banter later, two chao had found their way on Shadow. One was sleepily nested on his legs while the other was playing on his head, brushing his quills curiously.
“You really have your way with them, just like Omega...” Rouge remarked. She loved the little creatures very much, but she never seemed to attract them as easily as her two partners. No one really knew why and she honestly didn’t mind. It was fun enough to observe them from a distance: no risks of ruined haircut or having one mess with her wings.
“This is the best.” the hedgehog whispered, his voice full of emotion. His friend chuckled. Shadow was endearing in many ways, but his love for plants and creatures was unparalleled in an extremely wholesome way.
“Did you ever consider adopting one?” she asked before biting into her remaining pastry. Shadow’s expression became slightly somber as he looked at her. “I…” he sighed and scratched the sleeping one’s head. “I always wanted to, I guess. Even on the Ark, once we learned about them with Maria, we used to pretend having one. There was a plush, I don’t remember its name. We would play parents, bring it along for walks across the Ark, this kind of things.”
Rouge nodded sympathetically. Maria was less and less a sensitive subject as years went by, but Shadow was still defensive about these memories. Sharing them was one of the most intimate things he would do, and she felt honoured every time it happened.
Maybe one day.” the hedgehog shrugged with a tired smile. ”Right now our lives are too dangerous. I can’t raise one properly as long as we keep fighting and going on missions Chaos knows where. – Let’s hope we get Eggman and his clique once and for all, then!” Rouge said with a grin. “Can’t wait to have you pester us with photos of your ugly little baby.”
The genuine laugh that followed made the bat beam with happiness.
- - - - -
The very specific atmosphere of New Year’s Eve was not lost to the two mobians as they strolled in the city. Streets were bustling with activity, but in a way that felt distinct from other winter holidays. The ambient anticipation was less frantic, almost… solemn. Instead of rushing for gifts and food, people seemed determined to enjoy the final hours of this year.
Shadow found it interesting, not without its charm. He was more used to strolls in mountains, lonely forests and small paths undulating through fields. The buzzing activity of the city was something else —very nice, though. Plus Rouge knew every neighbourhood surprisingly well, and offered him little fun facts and stories about all sorts of buildings and places.
“It’s a real shame we don’t get more free time between G.U.N and Eggman.” the bat lamented. “There are so many nice spots I’d love to visit with Omega and you. – We do have vacations once in a while.” Shadow replied. “Yeah, but they’re either ruined by some apocalyptic event or by an intense need for rest.” she sighed. “We can’t enjoy the Museum of Arts if we’re falling asleep every two paintings.”
The dark mobian nodded. Technically Omega and him didn’t need a lot of sleep, but being world-saving heroes brought its own kind of mental fatigue. Moments of calm and respite were too few and far between.
“Well. Next time we have some days off we’ll organise a Team Dark afternoon.” Shadow offered. “An exhibit or two, some games at the arcade. Maybe a small concert at a cafe. – Oh my. Hun, I’m impressed to see you take this kind of initiatives.” the bat replied.
The hedgehog gave her a friendly nudge. “Shut up, can’t let you make all the decisions. – I don’t see why not.” Rouge shrugged with a knowing smile.
They suddenly stopped. Without really realising it, the duo had reached the large avenue leading back to their house. As they exchanged a glance, Rouge winked. “Omega must be waiting for us. Let’s move!” she said cheerfully.
- - - - -
An immediate wave of relief filled Shadow as soon as they passed the front door. “Finally some warmth.” he sighed, removing his large coat and thick scarf. “I was expecting your lowered body temperatures.” Omega’s robotic voice answered from the kitchen. “Hot tea and biscuits are ready for immediate consumption. Made with love.”
Rouge snickered and Shadow repressed a chuckle.  Both knew Omega was absolutely unable to cook anything without setting fire to it, so the biscuits were probably store-bought. They still appreciated the gesture greatly.
Everyone gathered around the table, remembering stories about the now-ending year and its numerous developments. Adrenaline-filled fights, obscure investigations and exhausting assignments went alongside hilarious mistakes, glorious teamwork… and even celebratory moments with all the other heroes of Mobius.
“Okay, but the award for the best party of the year still goes to Knuckles’ surprise birthday.” Rouge said confidently while helping Omega put on a colourful crochet beanie. “Ughh please. Let’s not talk about it.” Shadow groaned, knowing exactly where this was going. “It was extremely fun. The fireworks accident made it over 200% better than any other celebration.” the robot insisted. “Oh right, I almost forgot about that!” the bat laughed. “Poor Knuckie, having to deal with a fire hazard on his cherished island…”
Memories of the furious echidna shouting frantically brought a grin to Shadow’s face. “But!” Rouge added, ”I mostly remember someone having a few drinks too much and— – NOPE!” the hedgehog exclaimed as he brandished his hands. “No talk of this specific event shall happen in this house. Ever.”
Omega tapped his fingers on the table as he eyed his smaller friend. “It is a shame I did not record it for ulterior viewing.” Shadow’s glare was so intense the former badnik recoiled slightly.
“Oh well, it’s all in the past now.” Rouge mused teasingly. ”Good times, good times...”
- - - - -
The closet was absurdly full of useless trinkets and Shadow was very, very close to “fix” it with a Chaos blast.
Of course he wouldn’t, knowing how preciously Rouge kept all those odd items from her past. Jewels, foreign souvenirs, postcards, old plushies, photographs… All her memorabilia was kept there, in a mismatched mess mixed up with cleaning supplies, spare beddings and various tools.
“They should be somewhere near the bottom!” the bat shouted from across the flat. The hedgehog growled, his eyes desperately scanning the clutter in front of him. Finally he found what he came for.
Fairy lights. The essential accessory to any LRCS —Living Room Camping Session.
Shadow walked back to the main room, where a drying rack and several chairs formed a structure covered by sheets and blankets. Omega was evaluating whether the improvised tent was big enough for him. “It is perfect, Rouge. We will be able to fit within the designated comfy area.” he said before crawling underneath the colourful construction.
The hedgehog carefully hung the string of lights around and inside the tent before plugging it. Rouge grabbed some snacks and scuttled against the large robot, who fiddled with the remote until a title screen showed on the TV.
“Are we really watching this?” Shadow asked hesitantly. “Shadow. We all know your inclination for romance between organic beings. Please come cuddle so we can start the movie.” Omega said. “Don’t tell me you suddenly decided to hate cheesy fiction, sweetie.” Rouge added. “I would rather perish than lose your snarky remarks and teary-eyed spee— – Alright, I get it, I’m coming.” the hedgehog replied with a frown. “This better be good, though.”
It was everything but good. Outbursts of laughter and incredulous stares followed one another as the movie —a romantic parody of the famous blockbuster Attack On Mobius— kept getting more and more absurd. Omega threatened to turn himself off as he struggled to find any reasoning behind what was happening, and Rouge almost choked on her pop-corn near the end of the second part.
When the credits started rolling, the three buddies snuggled together. The winter night cold was no match for a group hug and thick quilts. Shadow eyed his phone and hummed.
“It’s almost midnight. – Does that mean we have to prepare a wish?” Rouge asked in a sleepy voice. “We don’t have to.” the hedgehog replied, glancing at his two friends.
Has to be an odd sight, he thought. A haphazard team with so many differences, united by pure luck in a challenging world. Chilling together in a makeshift tent in the middle of a flat like nothing else mattered. He closed his eyes and took a moment to appreciate the warm feelings. Being surrounded by such amazing souls for whom he really mattered. Knowing all the affection and dedication hidden behind that seemingly cold name, “Team Dark”.
“I wished for a pony.” Both Omega and Shadow looked at their bat friend with tilted heads. “What? They’re cute, I dunno.” she shrugged with a shit-eating grin. “What would you guys wish for? – Dual plasma swords.” the robot replied. “Maybe I should ask Miles when we cross paths again.”
Rouge rolled her eyes, then shouted curse words as she realised midnight was mere seconds away. Omega startled, making the whole tent fall on the team. The striped hedgehog quickly covered his muzzle with his hands, trying to suppress an irresistible laugh. No matter how hard life was, no matter the obstacles in his way, one thing was certain as the year came to an end.
Friendship was all he could wish for.

[A/N: UHH ok so this chapter will involve Sonally/Sonal (which ever you perfer) and well, I don'twant anyone to think that I hate that ship or hate Sally due to what happens. I'm trying to stay as close to the series as possible. Once again the reactions of the characters and their actions are all part of the series. I don't hate any ships nor any Sonic characters! Without further ado, enjoy and once again thank you:)]
As Sonic and Amy returned to the Clinic, Jane looked at Sonic and let out a sigh of relief when he saw Amy was with him. She smiled at them, Sonic smiled back then let out a happy sigh when he turned to look back at Amy. Her green emerald eyes piercing right through him. The feeling he had gotten on their first date coming back to him. Her cupped her face and gently kissed her forehead then planted a soft kiss on her lips. Amy more than happy returned the sweet kiss and smiled as they pressed their foreheads against eachother.
"I have to go. Tails has been trying ro reach me the entire night." He said softly as he held her hand and brought it to his lips kissing it softly. She let out a small chuckle as she nodded, "Sure. Plus, I'm getting tired. Today has been one hell of a day." She giggled then sighed, she stared at the blue hedgehog for a longer while before finally letting go of him. Before he left Amy grabbed one of his arms.
"What's wrong?" He asked, Amy scratched the back of her head as she looked at him.
"I know I'm asking for a lot but can you please keep all of this a secret? Don't tell anyone, not even Tails." Sonic's eyes widen, he got closer to Amy.
"Amy...Tails is my best friend..."
"I know and I'm sorry I'm even asking but I'm just afraid of how he would react and knowing him he will probably run some expirements and I'll have to be stuck in his shop all day. By the time you know it Eggman will attack and well..." she said refusing to imagine what Eggman might do to her. Sonic looked at her, a small smile forming on his face.
"I understand, don't worry. I won't let anyone know about any of you guys okay? I promised I'd protect you and I am going to." He planted another kiss on her forehead, Amy smiled she finally let go of his hand and he waved at her goodbye. She watched him run off until Jane approached her taking her somewhere she could sleep in.
-
The next morning Amy woke up to the sound of birds chirping. She sat up from the single bed she had slept on and then stood up making her way to the restroom where she began to get ready for the day. When she started to get undress she looked at herself in the mirror, a huge cross across her stomach could be seen in her reflection but when she looked down at her stomach nothing but fur could be seen. She formed a small smile then went into the shower where the stubborn graveyard dirt finally lost the battle to the soap. When she was done she got out to the smell of breakfast being served. Jane had arrived early to bring them their first meal of the day. Amy walked towards her, Jane noticing almost immediately, looked at the pink hedgehog and smiled.
"Early bird gets the worm huh?" She teased, Amy smiled and nodded.
"I guess so, the worm smells delicious by the way." She continued making Jane giggle. Amy sat down after grabbing the plate Jane offered her. She began to dig in after thanking her, the food melting into her mouth and a memory coming back to her. She recalled a morning like this one where she woke up to the smell of burning food only to find out Sonic had almost burned down her kitchen trying to cook her something. She soon snapped out of it and let out a small laugh, she was just so happy to be back. To be back with the person she always loved and in the town where she had stayed in almost her entire life. Everything was just too perfect.
"So how did you and Sonic meet?" Jane interrupted her eating. Amy jumped a little, she took a napkin and cleaned her mouth before speaking up.
"Oh right, I never formally introduced myself to you. I'm so sorry. I'm Amy Rose, to answer your question well we have to go back about fifteen years?" She said with a small laugh, Jane's eyes widen.
"That long? You guys been dating for that long?" She asked, Amy shaking her head almost immediately.
"No, Sonic and I met when I was eight. He saved me from an attack from Robotnik and well it was love at first sight for me." She said looking down at the cup of coffee she was cupping, a small blush coming onto her cheeks.
"I was always after him, I always told him how much I loved him and I never gave up on him which seemed to work because well we started dating when I was nineteen. We dated in secret for a while because Sonic was so afraid of commitment and well I'd say he still is but he still the inevitable happened and The crew found out." Amy let out a small smile, Jane returning one herself.
"Sally, Tails, and Knuckles?" Jane asked, Amy raised an eyebrow taking a bite of her food.
"Sally? You know her?" She asked after swallowing her food, Jane simply nodded, her lips formed into a clueless pout.
"Uh yeah, is she not who you're talking about? The crew?" Amy shook her head, "The crew is Knuckles, Tails, and Sticks. Is she no longer around? Don't tell me she died too?" Amy said as her eyes began to tear up. Jane shook her head, "Oh no no she left about two years ago before I came into the picture. Sonic and Tails told me she wanted to complete a mission of her own and we haven't heard of her since." Amy sighed in relief then smiled, "Typical Sticks." She muttered with wiping a tear off her face before taking a careful sip of her hot coffee. It didn't take much time before the others woke up and join Amy at the table. Soon Sonic had arrived and Amy ran to him hugging him tightly, he happily returned the embrace.
"Hey, you missed me?" He asked as she smiled, nodding.
"Of course I did. Where have you been? We almost finished all the breakfast!" Sonic smiled as he began to walk towards the others, his hand holding onto Amy's.
"Well it's fine. I just ate so don't even worry about it."
After greeting everyone he took out a small note pad and looked at everyone around.
"So I have some information about you guys. Before heading home last night I went to the graveyard. I have a few names here that'll hopefully help you remember something." He informed everyone, "Before I continue, I would like to let you guys know that you were dead before." He said, the echidna and Chameleon's eyes widen. The racoon simply scoffed, letting a small chuckle out afterwards.
"Dead? Right." She said not believing it. Amy turned to the racoon and nodded, "It's true." She backed Sonic up, Sonic nodding.
"You may not believe me but this is Amy, my girlfriend of four years, she's been dead for about three years." Amy nodded, the racoon simply shook her head.
"Do you remember dying Amy? Because I don't and I feel like something like that would stick by me." She said, Amy simply glared at her. "You know he's right..." she said then looked away as Sonic opened his notepad and began to read.
"Espio age twenty seven when he died. You've been dead for about seven years." Sonic read, the Chameleon began to nod.
"Yeah Espio that's it..." he muttered as he had finally remembered his first name. The Racoon rolled her eyes as Sonic read the next name.
"Tikal, died age twenty one." The orange echidna looked up at Sonic, a small frown coming upon her face. The racoon let out another scoff shaking her head. "You're seriously not believing this are ya? I mean the doctor here examined us. Do we look like zombies Doc?" She asked looking over at Jane who simply shook her head. The racoon turned to look at Sonic who despite the racoon's remarks, kept speaking. "There was a tomb that had been messed up, all I could see was Marine, missed by Blaze..?" the racoon's eyes fell. Her expression sadden as she recalled her own name and the name of whoever had missed her. "Blaze..." she muttered, the rest took a few seconds to think about the information Sonic had just given them but a wince and grunt coming from Tikal made them turn their attention to her.
"Well I'd say Tikal needs to go to a hospital right about now..." Amy suggested, Sonic sighed and nodded as he carefully started to pick her up but another complain came out of her. He quickly and very carefully put her down.
"Are you okay? I'm so sorry." He sighed, Espio immediately stood up and helped Tikal by taking one of her arms and putting it around his shoulder.
"I think we should use the doctors van..." the chameleon suggested, with a sigh Sonic nodded.
"I guess you're right. Jane do you mind?"
"Not at all, go ahead." She said with a smile and taking the keys out of her pocket she handed it over to Sonic. The blue hedgehog and the chameleon made their way out of the clinic with the orange echidna holding onto them. After carefully putting her in the van and Espio going with her Sonic closed the doors to the van, just when he was about to hop on Amy appeared behind him. He looked back at her and smiled, she was quick to hug him and he happily returned the warm hug. She then pulled away cupping his face, Sonic kissing her forehead and smiling.
"Be careful okay?"
"I will don't worry Ames. I'll come back in one piece."
"Afterwards can we head home?" Amy asked, Sonic simply smiled and gave her a small kiss before finally getting into the van and driving away. Amy smiled and walked back to the clinic where she was left with Jane and Marine.
-
Driving towards the bridge that was used as an entrance and exit to hedgehog village, Espio and Tikal who had been resting her head on the chameleon's shoulder, started to feel a bit uneasy. The closer they got to exiting, the weird feeling inside worsen. It wasn't until Espio noticed Tikal's eyes bleeding that he turned to inform Sonic.
"She's bleeding..." he called out as Sonic looked at the rear view mirrored looking back at him.
"You are too..?" He said as Espio started to cough as well as Tikal, Sonic's eyes widen as he started to drive back until they were no longer feeling sick.
"You guys okay?!" He asked, Espio turned to look at him nodding.
"We're okay..."
-
Back at the Clinic, Amy had been reading a book that she had left behind a few years ago. The folded page still intacted reminding her where she had left off before the war had begun. As she folded back the corner of the page a flashback begun inside her head. Sonic was talking with Tails when she overhead something about Eggman and his new plan, she remembered asking what was happening and Sonic refusing to tell her ending them in an argument. Her flashback once again interrupted by a knock on the door. Amy immediately snapped out of her flashback startled but then smiled widely when she though Sonic had returned. Just when she was about to go open the door, Jane stopped her.
"Go hide in my office and do not come out okay?" She said, Amy nodded after realizing she couldn't open the door at all costs due to her condition. She took Marine with her to Jane's office where they both started looking around. Jane sighed and walked towards the door opening it just enough for her face to be seen. She saw knuckles smiling at her.
"Hey Jane! Can I come in?" He asked, Jane bit her lower lip and then looked back at the clinic.
"I'm with a patient Knuckles, is it something important?" She lied, Knuckles simply scratched the back of his head apologetically.
"Oh well, I just wanted to speak about the cemetary business last night? I mean I can wait inside till you're done." He suggested, Jane immediately shaking her head.
"It wouldn't be appropriate Knuckles... maybe some other time yeah?" Knuckles scoff with a small smile.
"I mean I guess so, I'll come by when it's appropriate yeah?" Jane nodded at Knuckles statement. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion then turned around to leave.
"I just can't believe it... he's wrong." Marine complained, Amy letting out a sigh.
"What he said is true Marine. You have to listen to him... you're dead..." she calmy yet annoyed tried to explain to the racoon who was still stubborn about it.
"I have to go see it and confirm it." She said as she went out a window from the office.
"Shit! Marine, come back!" Amy complained as she followed Marine. It wasn't long when Jane came back to inform the girls that Knuckles was gone but to her surprised they were gone as well. Jane sighed and softly slammed her palm against her face, her fingers going through her own quills.
-
As Marine walked barefooted around the road that led to the graveyard Amy followed, they soon arrived at Marine's tombstone where he name and information where written at, just like Sonic had said. Marine's eyes widen as she began then began to crt rapidly digging through her own grave.
"No no no no..!" She exclaim as she cried at the sight of her own headstone. Amy hugged her and tried to calm her down,
"Marine, Marine, Marine, calm down it'll be okay I promise..." she said and eventually she ended up consoling Marine. Soon they were back on the road and onto the Path to Amy's hut which had always been near.
"I think I remember now Amy... I think I died when my ship began to sink... my cremated and I must've all died..." she said in a shaky voice, Amy looked at Marine and put an arm around her giving her a side hug.
"It'll be all right Marine! Plus, you're here now! You get a second chance!" Amy tried to cheer her up, Marine simply glared at her then looked away.
"Easy for you to say, you have your house and boyfriend around..." Marine made a side remark, Amy simply sighed.
"Maybe some of your crew mates survived Marine, maybe you still someone around here..." she said as she picked up the pace when she saw the top of her hut. Amy smiled widely as her eyes winced in happiness.
"This is my place!" She exclaimed happily looking at Marine who looked back at her.
"How do we get in?" She asked as Amy made her way to her front door and picked up a flower pot that was beside the door. The key to her place was there just where she always left it at, she took no time in opening her place and walking right in after letting Marine in first. She closed the door behind them and then furrowed her eyebrows.
"Oh I guess Sonic changed the furniture..." she said as she looked back at Marine. "I used to have the cutest lavender couches ever!" She said with a small sad smile, she then shrugged it off and began to walk towards her room.
"You want any clothes Marine?" She offered, Marine muttered a simple sure and Amy began to look through her closet. She let out a pout when she looked through the clothes and all she saw were some blue vests and some navy blue shorts. She began to open some drawers and saw some of Sonic's scarfs neatly folded in them. When she didn't find any of her dresses and over night tees she turned to look where she used to keep her jewelry but all she found were some bracelets similar to hers but in a light blue color. Along the jewelry box she found a small wedding ring.
"These aren't mine..." Amy said, Marine who had been looking around the hut then locked her eyes on a picture of Sonic and a chipmunk hugging lovingly, the chipmunk wearing a wedding dress. When Amy started to come out of her room she noticed Marine staring at the picture and she turned to look at it too. She saw the picture and one of her eyebrow rose, Marine looked at Amy's reaction which was hard to read until she began to talk.
"That's... that's my friend... Sally..." she said with a scoff coming out of her. Marine looked at Amy who was in disbelief.
"I'm sorry Amy..." she said, Amy ignoring her comment, she had all her attention on the situation at hand. Amy let out another shaky scoff as she then began to walk circles in her living room.
"How could he..?" She asked as she held back some tears. "Oh shit..." she said under breath as she started to feel the tears coming closer to rolling down her face. She walked to a small table that was near the window which had a picture of Sally and she pushed it down. Suddenly footsteps approached, Marine looked at Amy.
"Someone's here..." she informed, Amy taking Marine's hand and quickly yet carefully walked towards her former room to hide. Sally started walking to the front door holding some groceries bags. She put them down picked up the flower pot to find the key missing from its place. While Sally was looking for the key Amy and Marine took advantage to escape. Amy took Marine and went out through the garden where she hid behind a large tree. Sally slowly opened the door and as much as she wanted to stay outside she built enough courage to go in.
"Sonic..?" She asked, taking a knife from the kitchen. Sally walked out of the back door and looked around to see if she could find anyone but when she didn't see anyone she let her guard down and walked back into the hut. Amy caught a glimpse of her before she disappeared, she had seen to be a bit bigger than usual. Her stomach was round and her feet were swollen. Amy's tears finally rolled down her cheeks as she then began to quickly walk away from her own hut and away from Marine who tried to stop her.
"Amy wait!"
"Stop following me!" She cried out, Marine furrowed her eyebrows.
"Why are you yelling at me? I didn't do this to you!" She replied as Amy began to slow down, a sob coming out of her.
"I know..."
"Where are you going?" Marine asked as Amy began to pick up her pace once again.
"Anywhere but here!"
-
Back with Sonic who had finally arrive back at the clinic. He honked and then got out to open the van doors for Espio and Tikal, Jane came out and looked at him.
"You need to check on them. Make sure they're okay." He said, Jane simply nodded as she helped Sonic get Tikal and Espio out. After Jane examine them and made sure they were okay Sonic took her out of the office to speak to her.
"Jane, as soon as we approached they bridge they started to bleed from their eyes and they started grunting in pain. Do you have any explanation to this?" He asked, Jane simply shook her head speechless.
"Well we're going to have to tell them to stay close to town. Where are they?" He asked and Jane bit her lip looking guilty.
"Knuckles came earlier...he asked questions so I told them to hide but when I came back they were gone..." she said, Sonic looked at Jane then sighed as he started to walk out the clinic to look for them. While he was on his way out he got a call from his communicator, he immediately answered.
"Sally?"
"Sonic I just got home there was someone in the hut."
"Wait wait wait what?"
"They went out through the back door."
"Did you see them?"
"No but they were in the hut when I came in, I have no idea what they've taken yet..."
"Okay get out of the hut now."
"No, it's alright. They're gone now." She sighed then began to walk through the hut to make sure nothing was missing.
"I could've chased them if I was as big as well Big himself!" She said referring to their feline friend.
"No, no. Listen, just stay inside and lock the doors. Are you okay?" He asked as Sally kept looking around.
"Yeah I'm fine."
"Well, call Tails and Knuckles."
"Okay okay!" She hung up. Sonic cursing under his breath as he started to run. It wasn't long till he bumped into Marine, he immediately stopped and looked at her.
"Marine, where is Amy?" He asked, Marine stopping in her tracks and glaring at Sonic.
"She is gone... she's leaving town... she knows about you and Sally..." she mentioned, Sonic's eyes widen, a worried look planted across his face. He then sighed.
"Get off the road and go back to the clinic. I don't care what happens don't leave okay? The clinic is two blocks on your left." He said as he started to run through town looking for Amy. Eventually he found her, she was walking towards another exited Hedgehog town had, another bridge. Sonic began to jog towards her trying to talk her.
"Amy I'm so sorry I meant to tell you!"
"When?"
"Please stop Amy..."
"It's alright, you have Sally now!"
"You were dead! I thought you were dead!"
"You said I died three years ago," Amy turned around to face him. "How long did you wait till you hooked up with her?" She asked, Sonic looked at her staying quiet which enraged Amy more. "Just fucking tell me!"
"We've been married for eight and a half months..." he confessed, Amy grunted in disgust as she began to walk towards the exit again.
"What about the baby?"
"It's due in two weeks..."
"Ugh! Where you seeing her while I was alive?!" She asked as she kept walking. Sonic followed behind her.
"No! Of course not!"
"Am I suppose to believe that?"
"It's the truth!" He exclaim as Amy let out another grunt of disgust
"Well it worked out for you. It was just me you didn't want to commit to." She responded, Sonic caught up to her and held her arm.
"How can you say that? My life ended when you died Amy..." He replied to her as he looked into her eyes. Amy jerked her arm away from him.
"Then why her, why my bestfriend?"
"Because she was in as much pain as I was." He said softly but loud enough for Amy to hear.
"Yeah right..." Amy kept walking eventually making her way mid Bridge until she back away. Her eyes bleeding, she collapsed and began to shake uncontrollably.
"Ames what's wrong?" He asked as he made his way towards her, Sonic then noticed her bleeding as started to back her away.
"No no no I've seen this happen." He informed as Amy tried to pull away from him but her body had been weakened.
"Let me go!" She yelled as she let herself collapse in his arms. He picked Amy up and started to jog towards the clinic.
"It's going to be okay..." he reassured her as he picked up the pace and ran towards the clinic.

My personal story for Silver and Blaze
Tumblr media
((This is going to be the story I’m using for the main RPs behind these two. Keep this in mind.
Let’s start from Silver’s beginning. As you know, he’s from 200 years in Sonic’s future. What Silver’s future is like has been inconsistent across the board. Sonic 06 and Generations says it’s post apocalyptic, but according to Sonic Colors, it’s a bright one. Well since technically Sonic 06 isn’t canon, but Crisis City is still around, I will go with this.
Tumblr media
Crisis City was originally Silver’s home. Silver would tend to go about and greet people with smiles and waves, but little does he know that they’re secretly afraid of him because of his powers. He didn’t mind though as he spends time playing around with his powers a bit or just reading stories.
Tumblr media
That is until the day the city was attacked by Dr. Nega Robotnik (A.K.A Eggman Nega). Nega has been confirmed to be originally from Silver’s timeline, despite the fact he debuted in Sonic Rush. We’ll get to that later. Nega wanted to achieve success in robotics along the lines of his other ancestors, most notably Professor Gerald Robotnik. However, his projects were rejected due to the fact that he’s a descendant of the infamous Dr. Ivo Robotnik (A.K.A Dr. Eggman). Because of this, Nega decided to accomplish what his ancestor failed to do, which is dominate the world. After creating his robotic army, he sets sights on random cities, among of which is Crisis City. Knowing about the attack, Silver appeared to try to fend off the robots. Even though he fought well, even taking down one of the more powerful robots, Silver couldn’t save the city due to the fact that he’s just starting out in a battle, let alone being a hero in general, and that Nega’s mindset is (”If I can’t have it, no one can!”) and basically used hidden bombs and flamethrower bots to destroy the city, thus making Silver watch everything reduced to flames. Yeah unlike Ivo, Nega won’t hesitate to destroy everything if he finds out he can’t have his own way, regardless of the consequences alongside it.
Tumblr media
Wanting to become stronger and inspire a new generation of freedom fighters, Silver left his home to train. During his travels, he came across Angel Island. As he explored, he soon ran into a robot that suspected him for trespassing and trying to steal the master emerald, and attacked Silver. Silver did managed to damage the robot a bit, but it was no ordinary bot. It wasn’t until the bot was commanded to stop before the fight ended. That’s when Silver met the guardian of the Master Emerald...
Tumblr media
Shadow the Hedgehog. Yup, both him and the bot the Silver was fighting, E-123 Omega, are still around and became the new protectors of the Master Emerald after retiring from G.U.N and Knuckle’s inevitable death since keep in mind, this is over 200 years into the future. To me it also makes sense for Shadow to do this since he was born with chaos energy, he might have at least some connection with the master emerald, especially if Knuckles showed him the ropes before his passing. Silver points out that he meant no trouble and he just came to the island to train himself as Nega has begun his destruction/domination of the world. Both Shadow and Omega had a feeling a new threat would be approaching at some point later in their long lives. Shadow had watched Silver fight Omega and decided that his powers could be of use. Therefore, he decided to help train him to hone his abilities. Eventually, Silver became ready to fight back against the doctor, however only on his own as Silver and Omega prioritize themselves with the master emerald. They still communicate with each other with earpieces leftover from their time spent with G.U.N. They gave him Rouge’s old one because she’s...well...you know.
Tumblr media
Think of it as like Sonic Adventure where Silver just goes around doing missions set for him by Shadow, Batman Beyond style. Eventually, Silver managed to catch up to Nega and was about to bring him to justice. Unfortunately, Eggman Nega managed to escape using a new personal warping invention he made and used it to go back in time for a new plan, to erase the mistakes his ancestor made, which leads to the events of Sonic Rivals 1 and 2. Silver comes back to Angel Island to report to Shadow and Omega.
Tumblr media
Knowing full well about what might happen if he succeeds, Shadow decides to use chaos control to send Silver back in time to stop him before it’s too late, similar to how it’s done in Sonic 06. He also warns Silver to beware of his past self and not reveal how he ends up in the future because he knows that his past self isn’t the most cooperative person to deal with. Heck, even now that’s a bit of a stretch. He also gives Silver a special signal device to let Shadow know when it’s time to bring him back since their communicators won’t work when they’re that far back in the past.
Tumblr media
After the events of Sonic Rivals, Nega managed to escape to formulate a new plan to change the future. Fortunately, Silver managed to find out about it and Shadow sends him through time once again, thus proceeding the events of Sonic Rivals 2. At the end of Rivals, Silver and his companion, Espio, left Nega alone in a portal after foiling his plans with his ifrit,
Tumblr media
which is pretty much the game’s version of Iblis, minus his other half, Mephiles. That being said, I have heard someone theorize ifrit using its power to transport Eggman Nega to the Sol Dimension which would lead to the events of Sonic Rush, in which case...sure. I’ll go along with that. Now we get to the part where Silver and Blaze meet for the first time. After a while of helping rebuild the destruction Nega left in the future, Silver couldn’t help but shake the feeling that Nega is still out there somewhere. At some point, he returns to Angel Island to discuss it with his mentor, Shadow. Shadow admits that he doesn’t deny the possibility, especially if he recalls Sonic ever telling him about his travels in the Sol Dimension. He would probably put 2 and 2 together that the Nega there is the same person from here. Knowing how dangerous he is, Silver doesn’t want another world to suffer because of him. That’s when Shadow decides to bring out a secret treasure that he kept with him for years in secret...
Tumblr media
the phantom ruby. Shadow points out that with the power of the emeralds (especially with the master emerald present), he can send Silver across time, but with the phantom ruby, he can transport to anywhere in reality, even across dimensions. He and Omega kept it secret because even if one day they were to fail at protecting the master emerald, this could be used as a way to bring it back. That and they knew what might happen if it fell into the wrong hands as well. Like before, Shadow tells Silver to use his signal device once the mission is over, especially in this case where he would be sent across both time and space to reach Nega since he would still technically be in Sonic’s timeline while in the Sol Dimension, so you can imagine it’s going to take quite the amount of energy.
Tumblr media
Silver manages to end up on one of the islands on Blaze’s home world in the Sol Dimension. At first, he takes interest in the wildlife around him, seeing how similar or different they are compared to the ones at Angel Island, or at least at home before Nega’s attack. Soon, he remembers he has to focus and soon comes across a town/village (take your pick. I haven’t actually played Sonic Rush. I’m gathering info about it from online, so take what I say with a grain of salt. I’m trying my best, okay?). He starts going around and ask people about Nega to see if he’s around.
Tumblr media
Some people pointed out that they have either seen him or at least heard of him, but they’re not sure about where he is now since at the end of Sonic Rush Adventure, he was blown up after being defeated by their princess and her blue hedgehog companion. Silver has met Sonic before at this point at least once thanks to Sonic Rivals, so he does wonder if it’s the same guy. Regardless, this does confirm that Nega has been here for quite some time, but the question remains is whether or not he’s still around. Before he has much time to think about it though, pirates attack the place. And with Silver being Silver, he wastes no time to deal with them before leaving to the next nearby island. He basically starts searching around for clues, but with no luck in terms of actual concrete proof that he’s still here. That is until he comes across a huge mech threatening a young girl. Nega’s symbol on the bot was proof that it was one of his and not Ivo’s. While the girl isn’t afraid at all, she is clearly having a bit of trouble, so Silver goes in to help out. The severely injured mech barely escapes to make a report back to where it came from. The girl was thrilled by Silver’s powers and kept asking him random questions like who he was, where he came from, how he got his powers, ect. It didn’t take long for Silver to use his powers to hold her in place so she could calm down. Silver points out that he’s from another world, which prompted her to ask if he knew Sonic. As stated before, they have met, but they don’t really know each other all that much.
Tumblr media
The girl then introduces herself as Marine, future adventurer extraordinaire. Silver says it was nice meeting her, but he has to continue his search for Nega. Marine says she wants to help Silver find him since she was with Sonic and others when they fought him before. At first, Silver was against it since he while even though he’s not against the idea of relying on others, he didn’t feel it’s right to get people from this dimension involved with what he believes to be his mess. He does end up agreeing in the end though once Marine mentioned that she has a boat and can help him explore the world like a guide. That he knew someone like her is going to tag with him anyway.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile at the hidden base, Nega notices that one of his mechs has been thrashed rather quickly, since it hasn’t been that long since he sent this one out. As he inspects the damage, the mech shows a recording of what happened. The reveal of Silver being in this dimension shocked him, as he has no clue on how he got here nor how he figure out that he was here to begin with. Regardless, his nemesis is hunting him down, and he won’t tolerate another failure. He sends all the bots he created on high alert and to track down Silver. He is now wanted, dead or alive. Heck, I’ll even come up with a quote for it.
Tumblr media

“I don’t care if you have to burn down every forest on every island to bring him out. FIND. ME. THAT. HEDGEHOG!!!”
Tumblr media

Once they got to the next island, it didn’t take long before they were attacked by pirates again, who are after Silver for the bounty placed on him by Nega if they managed to get him. After defeating one of the pirate leaders, Silver came across a strange gem that was left behind. Even though it appeared different to the super emeralds on Angel Island, he can still feel some form of power from it. That’s when a person comes in, demanding that he hands over the gem to her. At first, Silver was reluctant as to why he should, but the person said that her responsibility is to keep those safe. After hearing that, he does so, much to her surprise. Silver points out that she’s probably the guardian of the emeralds here and knows better than to get in her way. That and he doesn’t really need them since his only priority is going after Nega. Once she finds out that he knows Nega, she questions him on who he is and he introduces himself similarly to how he did so with Marine. Even the part about not really knowing Sonic all that well. Silver decided that while it was nice meeting her, it was time for him to leave and rendezvous back with Marine. Blaze was still curious about him, so she decided to follow behind. It wasn’t until Marine ran past Silver and hugged Blaze that he realized he was being followed. While Blaze is happy to see Marine again, she still questions Silver about how he knows about Nega and why he’s after him. Silver tells her that he’s on a mission to bring him back to his world now that he found out that he’s been hiding here for so long. Blaze is still a bit suspicious, but Marine tells her that he’s a decent guy and they should help him hunt down Nega as she knows full well he’s up to no good again. Blaze agrees for now, but she will be keeping an eye on him. This is getting longer than expected so, I’ll hold the rest off for another part later on.))

Sonic & Tails: Beyond the Stars - Chapter 2
Chapter 2: The Mark of the Wilderness
“Those robot parts were everywhere,” Tails thought out loud in reference to the mess they cleaned up in the town by the meadows. “I think that was more time consuming than SAVING the place.”
“No kidding,” Sonic agreed. “Couldn’t you have told us that we’d have to clean them up on the way back?” He lightly nudged Lutrudis jokingly.
“Heh heh, sorry,” the horse replied with a guilty shrug. “But I did promise them... Wouldn’t have been fair for those poor townsfolk to tidy up their area all by themselves.”
“True. Now then... where to next?”
They were now back in Lime Shores, the town that the hedgehog and fox duo arrived in when they introduced themselves to Viridonia. The waves and the buildings shined just as bright as when they saw them the first time around, but gorgeous as they were, the sights were not on the heroes’ minds. The ominous creature that attacked them here had yet to be found, and at the moment, they had no clues as to where else it could possibly be hiding.
“So, uh, Trudy,” Sonic began to ask as he looked around aimlessly, having made sure to stick with his nickname for her rather than make another failed attempt to pronounce her real name. “What’s the nearest region from this point that we haven’t visited yet?”
“Oh, well...” Lutrudis had to pause for a moment as she was put on the spot, but it didn’t last for long. “There’s a jungle near the east side of the town, if that means anything to you. You don’t suppose it could be there, do you...? We don’t have any evidence for that...”
“No, but if Ol’ Egghead’s around here, he’s probably making a mess there too. He NEVER leaves a spot undisturbed.”
“It’s also a safe bet that there’s a link between him and the monster,” Tails added. “He’s commanded OTHER monsters, after all, and his presence in Viridonia sure is conveniently timed with its appearance. So even if we don’t find it in person, we could find out more about what’s going on at least.”
“Well, it’s not like we have other leads for the time being...” Lutrudis scratched the side of her face as she exchanged an unsure glance with Sonic to her left, and Tails to her right. “To the jungle it is, then?”
“Right away!” As expected of him, Sonic wasted no time in curling into a ball and rolling out of view in seconds. The seasoned and trained Tails was able to keep up with him easily, but Lutrudis...
“Oh dear, please wait up...!” She asked desperately as she tried in vain to keep up, being extremely careful not to overexert herself. “Not everyone is as fast as you, you know!”
“Actually,” Sonic began, having slowed down his speed a little so that Lutrudis could hear him. “Tails can catch up with me, he’s doing it right now!.So can Amy! Then there’s Shadow... and there’s Blaze... even KNUCKLES can be pretty fast when he puts his mind into it!”
“.........Not everyone is as fast as you, you know!” Lutrudis repeated with extra emphasis, while sounding even more desperate than the previous instance.

Tricky Tropics Zone
Tumblr media
TT Act 1: Luscious Jungle
Lutrudis’ Badnik Logs: Buzz Bomber - “Everyone knows these buzzing pests. They fly around minding their own business, but if you’re nearby, they’ll shoot pellets at you. Curiously, they have the same face as Motobug... Perhaps they’re made on the cheap?”
Coconuts - “These cheeky monkeys will throw bombs at you from the safety of their trees, but some of them are bold enough to toss them them at you from the ground. Their bombs are even designed like coconuts! Gotta give points to them for keeping it thematically appropriate, I guess.”
Bloominator - “Don’t go admiring this flower! Behind those petals lies a seemingly endless supply of spiked projectiles, which it’ll be all too happy to launch at you should you go near it.”
Mushmeanie - “They pose as mushrooms... and then they don’t once their casings are whacked off. They bounce along the ground aside from that, though I must say, they’re rather cute for killer robots...”
Rhinotank - “It would seem that this design incorporates visual elements from both the Rhinotank and its older model, the Rhinobot, making for a very sleek yet dangerous result... Either way though, it still charges at you should you pop up in its sight.”
Teething Tiki - “Have the idols of the jungle come to life!? ...No, they’re just knockoffs made by the doctor. They’re quick to grab you in the hopes of taking a chomp out of you, which isn’t very idol-like if you ask me.”
You're getting into the adventuring spirit now, but things will be a little trickier around here compared to your time in the meadows. (Even the name gives that away.) The jungles are teeming with all sorts of natural traps, and that's without throwing in Eggman's environmentally unfriendly band of mooks. But you heroes have been through plenty of jungles before, so this will be a breeze... right?
The greenery surrounding the environment is very rich in tone, as are the vivid colours of the flowers, but those are not the only things you’ll be seeing here. Like Frog Forest before it, Luscious Jungle is named after its vast array of succulent, yet unnaturally-sized fruit, many of which can be used to assist you in your journey. You can use apples as stepping stones on the water, bananas can be used in place of ramps, grapes can be bounced upon to reach extra heights... And if you’re feeling really daring, you can even roll the giant oranges and lemons into unsuspecting Badniks. There’s plenty of fruit to experiment with, so don’t be afraid to do just that, even if it’s purely for the sake of your own amusement.
Sonic: Sorry Tails, I have to say it... orange you glad there’s so many of them?
Tails: ...Couldn’t resist, could you?
Sonic: Nope!
Lutrudis: Sounds like someone’s being a bit of a sour grape.
Tails: Aw, not you too!
Lutrudis: *giggle*
But what’s a jungle without its animal inhabitants? That’s right, you’ll get to encounter the exotic wildlife around here too. Some of them, like oncoming zebra herds and aggressive tigers, only serve to hinder you. Others can benefit you instead, like the elephants who are all too happy to launch you out of their trunks (hedgehog quills cause no pain for them, apparently), and the birds who occasionally drop handy item boxes... Just don’t get mixed up with the actual wildlife and Eggman’s wildlife. Regular monkeys aren’t known for having bombs on their person.
Though the area is largely dense, there are occasional segments from outside the immediate jungle area that lead into sprawling savannah landscapes. The glow of the mighty sunlight makes them an impressive sight to see, but be warned, for the Teething Tiki robots can often be found lurking in these exact areas. Luckily though, if you can’t be bothered confronting them, you can climb up the necks of the giraffes to lose track of them, as well as treat yourself to an awesome view.
Once you find the end capsule, you may notice there’s a blocky pyramid structure towering over the trees. You can’t see all of it, but it would be remiss of you to not investigate it...
——
“And just through here, you’ll find... this!” Lutrudis moved a large bush out of the way so that Sonic and Tails could see what she was referring to. As it turns out, she was referring to a village with a distinctly primitive quality. Wooden huts and stone pyramids were dotted across the land, in league with imposing idol monuments, and passageways made of temple structures. The sunlight had simmered down ever so slightly, but its shine was still palpable, and the wooded barriers surrounding the village had various colours of the rainbow painted on them. The colours still popped even after the years of decay and rust.
“Quite a sight, huh?” The horse turned to the two guys, but she noticed they had a peculiar look of thought on their faces, as if they were looking at something else entirely.
“It’s kind of like... like that city I was sent to during Chaos’ rampage, in the past... Wow...” Needless to say, Tails was very amazed by what he saw. “I know it’s different, but it looks so much like that city...”
“Wait, that happened to you too!?” Sonic asked his buddy out of equal amazement. “I was sent to the past during that time too! Yeah, I totally get you, Tails. This looks a LOT like that place...”
Lutrudis took a moment to analyse their mutual sense of wonder with crossed arms, before glancing back at the village herself with a neutral emotion.
“I’ve never time travelled, so I can’t comment.”
Tails examined the village further, in an effort to spot for citizens. “So would we be unwelcomed here, or...?”
“Well, no one’s actually lived here for a long time,” Lutrudis casually explained, all the while fiddling a little with the tip of her ponytail. “Certainly never seen a thriving community in this part since I was a kid.”
“So we SHOULD be fine if we run around in it?”
“As long as you don’t break any priceless artifacts and disgrace the work of whosoever lived here in ye olden days, then yes, I would say so.”
“Pfft, please. You think I can’t control my speed?” Sonic chuckled as he started running ahead to the village.
“I would say your turning is a bigger point of concern,” Lutrudis lightly snarked back as she followed him. Tails followed suit, and as he did so, he smiled to himself, as he continued to witness how quickly his new friend was getting used to the company of his oldest.
Little did any of them know however, that a camera was spying on them from the skies, held by the hands of a familiar blue droid with shifty eyes. Though it made no sound, the siren on his head glowed bright red in accordance with his sinister intentions. Using his jetpack, the round robot flew away from the scene in a hurry, satisfied with his footage.
——
TT Act 2: Temple Village
Lutrudis’ Badnik Logs: Jag-Off - “Such a ferocious beast! These jaguar bots are quick to pounce on you at a moment’s notice. They can be pretty fast... but not as fast as a blue hedgehog, right?”
Mayan Pawn - “Dressed in the style of ancient warriors, these dark blue Pawns will attempt to shiv you with their spears if you’re close, or they’ll resort to their blowguns if you’re at a distance. The doctor sure likes his stereotypes, huh...”
Returning Enemies: Buzz Bomber Coconuts Rhinotank Teething Tiki
Far from the first time you’ve been in an environment like this, but at least you weren’t warped to the past this time around. In this stage, you’ll get to explore all the ins, the outs, and the arounds of this ancient village, and suffice to say, it’s a pretty big village at that. And don’t worry, despite their intimidating stature, the idols won’t come to life, although the Teething Tikis are still around, so be vigilant.
There are no natives living among here anymore, but there are a few explorers for you to talk to if you want to, as evidenced by the little camp site they’ve set up in the area. Some of the explorers have a few interesting things to say...
“It’s said that this was once a populated city, but one day, everyone just vanished off the map! What do you think could have caused that? Did they bring a cruel fate upon themselves, like the ancient echidnas? Or was it something else... something more...?”
“It’s funny... This place looks ancient and all, but something about it feels very... NOT that ancient, if you know what I mean? ...Not even I’m completely sure on what I mean, though...”
Others have less than insightful things to say...
“Wow, are you really Sonic the Hedgehog!? I’m honored to meet you!... Now get out of the way. I can’t take the perfect shot of these pyramids while you’re mugging the camera.”
The majority of the village is on the outside, so the instances where you go inside the temples don’t last for long. That doesn’t mean they’re uneventful though: You can expect to find a healthy number of traps waiting for anyone foolish enough to enter, such as the spears that shoot from the walls, and the weak segments of ground that give way to a ghastly bed of spikes. It’s not all that pleasant, but you’ll live. (Unless you die, of course.)
The newcomer enemies are at their most prominent in the interior sections of the temples. Jag-Offs can almost jump scare you with how quick they can pounce, but they’re nothing too unbearable aside from that. The Mayan Pawns aren’t as fast, but they are more annoying, particularly when they use their blowguns.
It’s not just the temples you can explore, however. Some of the biggest and reddest trees have walkways built around them, and several tunnels have been made from within them. Have fun with scaling and shooting through the pine, but don’t get too careless, for Buzz Bombers love to hang around these sections.
When you finally reach the last bunch of temples in the area, it will turn out that I wasn’t being fully honest with you, for a particularly demonic-looking idol DOES come to life, which takes your character by surprise. Tails’ shocked reaction in particular is priceless.
Tails: AIEEEEEE!
After it takes a moment to growl menacingly at you, it then ascends higher in the air... revealing a serpent-esque body made of black stone, with red and orange markings for good measure. It also reveals two arms, each with the same colour scheme. While the explorers understandably run for dear life, you are made from a braver substance, meaning you’ll have to be the one who actually fights this thing. Unlucky!
BOSS: Idolossus
Right off the bat, it’ll summon four Teething Tikis. You don’t need to destroy them, but you might as well before they get in your way. The Idolossus itself is fond of using its strong arms to pummel you in all kinds of ways, most notably by slamming its hand at where you’re positioned, and sweeping an arm either clockwise or counter-clockwise along the ground.
What do you do? Well, the battlefield here consists of all the area that you’re currently in, so make use of that to get a fair distance away from it. It can still make a grab for you though, for its arms can extend their length to a certain point. Notice how some of the walls have large holes in them? What you want to do is position yourself in front of one of those holes, so that when it launches its arm and hopefully misses you, it’ll get stuck. It’s a rather tragic yet comedic sight, but you can’t think about that for too long, as it’ll eventually get its arm free if you don’t react fast enough. Quickly jump on the arm, spin dash all the way to the body, and land a hit on its eye. It’ll howl in pain while you fall back down to the ground,
It only takes three hits in total, but don’t assume that’ll make things easy. With each hit, it summons a greater amount of Teething Tikis, and more worryingly, it grows two more arms with each hit, culminating in a total of six arms. It also starts throwing in a few fire-based attacks for good measure, such as spitting out fireballs and leaving a temporary trail of flame wherever it sweeps the ground. You’ll also need to use a different wall with a hole in it for each hit, since the ones you already made use of get completely destroyed afterwards.
Spin dashing along the arm will be made tougher each time, since its extra arms will attempt to hinder you even while you’re trying to reach the body. But you can manage. Three hits in, and the Idolossus will let out one last howl before crumbling to the ground in pieces, revealing circuitry within its stone exterior. Not that there was any doubt beforehand that Eggman made this idol, but it’s nice to know for sure nonetheless.
——
“Personally, I thought this one looked ugly anyway,” Sonic commented upon looking around at the debris of the idol they had faced with his hands on his hips. He shook his head disapprovingly. “Seriously, black and red? Sticks out like a sore thumb. Not that that’s unusual for Eggman’s junk...”
“What was it doing here, though?” Tails asked as he scratched his head. “It’s a little weird for an Eggman robot to just hang around here and do nothing until we showed up... Maybe it was guarding something?”
“You might be onto something there, Tails,” Lutrudis grimly noted as she pointed in the direction of a few bushes and trees, which appeared to be emitting a strange purple mist. The three of them exchanged looks with each other, and with varying levels of dread, they slowly walked towards where the mist was radiating from. Sonic, the one in front, quickly brushed many bushes aside, his two associates close behind. The thick vegetation proved troublesome to traverse, but they marched on regardless, until at last, Sonic found the very definite source for the mist. Namely, a river filled with a substance that he had seen before...
“Mega Mack!” Sonic exclaimed.
“Mega Mack?” Tails asked with shock as he got to see it for himself.
“Mega Mack!”
“Mega Mack?” Lutrudis questioned in turn as she saw it too. She only had to glance at the area a grand total of once before she immediately covered up her face with her bandana. “Goodness gracious, that stuff stinks.”
“Yeah. Mega Mack. That freaky gunk that Eggman loves so much.”
Sonic frowned as he looked at the rest of the scene. In spite of the chemical’s effects, the rest of the environment remained fairly pleasant. The plant life and moss took on a much darker green than it did in the immediate jungle region, and the flowers came in stunning shades of white and light blue. A pale white shine engulfed the area, creating a sight that stood in stark contrast with the purple pollutant.
The hero’s firm expression grew tighter, as it only reminded him of what Eggman was doing to the place. He never understood the scientist’s habit of turning everything he could find into glamorized environmental hazards... nor did he care to know, as Eggman was infamous for his general callousness anyway. All he knew was that the river would only get worse if he didn’t put a stop to it.
“It won’t be pleasant,” he turned to Tails. “But we’ll have to follow the river if we want to find the source of this gunk.”
“There are worse experiences,” Tails shrugged, in a tone that implied he was thinking of something in particular when he spoke.
“If that’s what it takes...” Lutrudis added, her bandana still covering her face tightly. “This is still part of my home. I can’t just stand here and let the doctor get away with this disgrace, can I? The sooner we find the source, the sooner we can make this place less inhospitable... and less stinky.”
——
TT Act 3: Gloomy Bog
Lutrudis’ Badnik Logs: Venus Dire Trap - “Self-explanatory, really. When they spot it, they’ll make a swift lunge for their prey... which, according to their programming, is you. Pretty grim...”
Returning Enemies: Buzz Bomber Bloominator
Don’t let the unflattering name fool you, this swamp actually looks pretty nice in spite of its current situation (and, you know, being a swamp). It’s only really gloomy because it’s in the process of being corrupted by Eggman’s influence. The Mega Mack is not fatal - you can take a dip in it with no trouble (although why you would want to do that is anyone’s guess) - but like with regular water, you can drown in it if you’re under there for too long. If you’d rather not dive in the Mega Mack and risk getting a disease, there are wooden walkways and loops that you can run across.
You can also use the vines to catapult yourself across different angles, which can be exploited if you’re a cunning sort of player. On the other hand, the biggest obstacle around here are the mud pits. They’re not fatal either, but the longer you’re stuck in them, the slower you can move... which can prove to be a disastrous consequence if there’s a Badnik nearby.
Speaking of Badniks, the Venus Dire Traps are very fast for a second zone enemy. They’re not impossible to counter, but you really have to stay on guard with them, or else you’ll be turned into prey in seconds. The Buzz Bombers also like to fly above areas with mud pits, and the Bloominators are rather annoyingly placed in the middle of the walkways a lot of the time.
And by the way? Don’t think going through the whole stage under the Mega Mack will grant you an easy victory. Aside from the usual worry of drowning, Eggman was crafty enough to leave a few Venus Dire Traps under the Mega Mack as well... and since your reaction time is ever so slightly slower when underwater, dealing with THEM while underwater is a lot harder. Although you will be rewarded with handy items if you get past all the danger, so it’s your choice...
When you reach the capsule, you’ll spot what appears to be the source of the Mega Mack: a giant, mechanical bee hive compound. Buzz Bombers are rapidly flying out of it, and Mega Mack is callously spewing from different angles within the holes located on the structure. You better shut this thing down, eh?
——
TT Act 4: Hornet’s Nest
Lutrudis’ Badnik Logs: Hive Bomber - “Inside the big hive lies... miniature hives! Should you be careless enough to touch it, it’ll release a group of bite-sized Buzz Bombers for you to deal with. As if there weren’t enough of these fiends around here already, sheesh...”
Returning Enemies: Buzz Bomber Bloominator Venus Dire Trap
Another immediate jump to the next act. This stage takes place both outside and inside the robotic hive, as it’s been fortified in the event that you turned up to try and wreck the place. On the outside, you’ll have to deal with more Venus Dire Traps and Bloominators, as well as the natural hazards of the marshy environment. You may be reminded of the Great Megalith in fact, as the fortifications around the exterior are quite fancy, complete with lamps hanging on the ceilings, and on the walls.
The interior of the hive, however, is a different story. Fittingly enough, you’re gonna have to deal with a lot of Buzz Bombers in here, as well as their junior counterparts hiding away in their own little hives. Being the progenitor of the Mega Mack, there’ll be rivers of that here and there too, but since they’re rushing very rapidly here, you’ll get sent along its course if you accidentally go for a swim in it, Don’t worry though, this won’t count as a death. Usually it’ll just take you to an earlier point in the level, so it’s still annoying, but not an instant kill.
Naturally, there’s a bunch of honey-related gimmicks and obstacles in the hive as well. Honey on the walls can be used for wall jumping purposes, and honey slides can be used to gain a ton of momentum for the giddy players who like to just go fast. If you’re going up a slide, you can jump along the platforms that are conveniently provided for you.
The stage is honestly pretty straightforward for the most part, with no big surprises... until the end. You will eventually reach a tunnel, and it seems you’re in the clear, since there are no enemies or obstacles to be found. But your character is running towards the camera... You know what that means...
Right on cue, a truly massive Buzz Bomber emerges from the ground, and it wastes no time in chasing you down, presumably for all those years of destroying its smaller offspring. It won’t do anything other than chase you, but it’s pretty speedy, so don’t get cocky. Remember, there is honey everywhere in this tunnel, so on the occasion that it makes a faster charge towards where you’re running, you can avoid it by simply running along the other edges of the tunnel.
After a while, the tunnel will cease, and you and your chaser will reach an interesting room with a flower-shaped device in the center of it... which also happens to have five rivers of Mega Mack emerging from it. Now that you’re not being chased, you can have a better look at this Buzz Bomber. Longer wings, brighter stripes, notable spikes on its tail, a tiara-esque shape on its head... yes, this must be the queen. Time for some regicide.
BOSS: Queen Bomber
The Queen will start off by doing what every Buzz Bomber does: fly around and shoot pellets. Although for obvious reasons, its pellets are fairly larger than that of the average Bomber’s, and are thus harder to avoid. It will do this three times, although if you fly up as Tails, or make use of your parkour as Sonic, you can whack the Queen early to get it to move on. This won’t count as a hit, but it helps speed up the process if you’re impatient.
Either way, the Queen will eventually place itself in the middle of the flower, and the flower will close itself up to reveal laser cannons underneath, which will then process to sweep the ground. This can be tricky to dodge when you’re also trying to avoid the Mega Mack, but it’s also your moment to strike. Once the lasers have stopped, there’s a brief moment before the flower petals lower to reveal the Queen. Before that happens, spin dash one of the petals three times as quickly as you can, and this will destroy said petal.
The Queen will grow furious that you harmed its lovely flower, and in response, it’ll fly out of the camera’s view and fire a rapid onslaught of pellets straight to the ground. Fortunately, they have shadows, so you have an early warning as to where they’ll land. After which, the normal process will continue. Avoid the pellets, dodge the flower’s lasers, whack another petal three times. Smooth sailing from here, right?
Well, not quite. The process itself largely remains the same, but you’ll have more to dodge the longer the fight goes on. After two petals are destroyed, the Queen will make use of those spikes on its tail by firing them at you. Unlike the pellets, the spikes will temporarily bounce along the walls from different angles, and they’re faster as well. The Queen itself will also be slightly quicker in firing its usual pellets.
After four petals are shredded, the Queen will summon regular Buzz Bombers for assistance, so you’ll have to deal with them too. However, some of them will be colored red instead of blue. Aside from being a visual nod to the similar Buzzer model, it’s also an indication that they work a little differently, as the red Bombers will forgo shooting pellets in favor of getting in your personal space, hurting you via physical contact. This can be irritating, but you can use it to your advantage by attacking them from a certain angle so that they’ll crash straight into one of the remaining flower petals, destroying said petal in one hit.
When all six petals are down, the Queen will get REALLY mad, and it’ll throw all its previous patterns out of the way in favor of charging straight towards you! Simply bop it on the head a single time... and it’ll blow up. How anticlimactic.
Well, it’s still a Buzz Bomber at the end of the day. They’ve always went down in one hit. I guess the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.
——
With the Queen’s defeat, and the destruction of its flower, the rivers of purple liquid in the hive slowly began to die down. Their course grew slower, their gushing grew quieter, until eventually, the tunnels and holes that were once full of the chemical were drained completely.
“Yeah!” Sonic cheered as he pumped a fist in the air. “No more lousy Mega Mack!” He followed it up by exchanging a bouncy high five with Tails.
“i just hope the river will recover from this,” Lutrudis muttered with concern as she fidgeted with her hands. Her bandana was down again, now that her sensitive nose was no longer affected by the surroundings. “A lot of the goop made its way there... I hope it’s not permanently tarnished...”
Sonic gradually stopped cheering as he found himself unsure on what to say in response, as he too wasn’t sure about whether it would fully recover or not. Having noticed his friend’s worrying, he could only throw a look of sympathy her way. Tails simply looked down at his feet, similarly uncertain on how to address the horse’s thoughts.
“I’m sure it’ll be fine,” Sonic gently reassured her with a small smile, patting her on the back. “Maybe not immediately, but... things have a way of working out. Trust me.”
"Heh...”
“As for that beast, we’ve STILL not found it,” Sonic pondered out loud. “We haven’t found Eggman either, come to think of it...”
“Why do you think Eggman’s hiding?” Tails questioned.
“Your guess is as good as mine, Tails,” the hedgehog shrugged as his quills drooped. “I mean, it’s not like he’s being secretive about his involvement. We KNOW it’s him. We KNOW he’s here. Being coy isn’t like him at all...”
“Hey, guys?” Lutrudis seemed hesitant to mention what was on her mind, but she went through with voicing her thought. “I don’t know this for sure, but... I think I might have an idea on what the doctor is searching for.”
“You do???” Sonic and Tails cried out in unison.
“Please tell us, Trudy,” Sonic added urgently, yet not without tenderness. “This could really help us. Even if you’re not sure about it, tell us anyway. If we can have even a vague idea on what he could be up to, we can stop him a lot quicker.”
The young lady was conflicted. Doubt plagued her mind. What if this wasn’t it? What if she leads them to something that amounts to nothing? What if she completely wastes their time and creates more problems instead of solving them? She looked at Tails, who nodded reassuringly, then she turned back to Sonic, and she looked deep into his eyes in particular. She felt her anxiety simmering down as she focused on the hedgehog’s bright, green, friendly eyes. She took a moment to nod to herself as she finally began to spill the beans.
“I’ll take you to it myself. It’s not far from my residence.”
——
“So they were at my Mega Mack compound, I see...” mused an all too familiar voice hidden away in the shadows, as he watched the footage that was provided to him by the blue robot, who twitched nervously at his master’s brief period of silence.
“Is the hedgehog foiling your plans again, doctor?” asked another voice in the shadows.
“...Nah,” the voice replied in an uncharacteristically relaxed tone. “He’s not doing that at all, not this time. You see, he can actually destroy as much of my stuff as he wants... and it won’t mean a thing. I’ll still win.”
“And what makes you so certain of that? What exactly are you planning?”
“Ho ho ho... You’ll find out in time. That said however...” He examined the footage once more, stroking his trademark facial hair all the while. “I think I’m going to keep an eye on the new girl.”
“She doesn’t seem like anything worth concerning yourself over, doctor. She has no fancy abilities from what we’ve seen, no experience with the Chaos Emeralds...”
“I have learned a valuable lesson over the years, Orbot. When Sonic makes a new friend, they always cause trouble for me. I’m NOT taking any chances.”
“Understood, sir.”
“That’s what I like to hear. Now then... Are YOU ready for your next job?”
A hand emerged from the darkness to point down at the blue droid. He looked to his left and to his right, as if he were wrongly accused of a crime. He finally nodded slowly, almost anxiously, his siren still shining brightly.
“Good stuff! Then in that case...”
Out of the shadows stepped a robot who looked very similar, but not completely identical, to the blue one. He was triple the height, with a proud spot of red. As three similar pairs of red eyes glowed behind the two machines, the red one silently raised his scepter in the air, as if to celebrate a glorious occasion.
A grin slowly formed on their master’s face. A grin that Sonic had seen many, many times throughout his adventures.
“Let’s go crash the party, my loyal Heavies...”

May I request a fanfic where Sonic suddenly realizes he's in love with Amy? I've always pictured it happening to him gradually until one day it hits him, "Oh man I love her don't I?" Sorry if you've done something similar before. Thank you for your time!
…. Oh boy! I’m excited! but this is a tough one… I also agree it would take time and come gradually but…
I also believe he’s always falling for her, but that he fights the thought of ever being ‘in love’ with anyone. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Let’s see now… do I start with him being older and coming to a strange thought about being in love with her? Or…
Oh~~~~
I like the Or.
Tumblr media
(x) I’m a sucker for Classic Sonamy xD It’s so cute and precious~
Prompt:
Amy walked into her small home just off the side of an ocean, pushing her butt up against the door to close it while she brought in wild ingredients she harvested from a small garden she had planted a ways away.
It had been a long time since she entered that fighting tournament to meet her hero again, and even longer since she had even seen or heard anything concerning-
“Sonic!” she gasped.
Sitting at her table, flipping through her open tarot cards, was the blue hero himself.
She blushed, leaning back in mostly surprise before happily throwing the basket up and placing her hands together at the side of her face, hearts in her eyes.
‘He found my home! I knew he could!’ she swooned, before the basket came down and obscured her vision, making her wobble a bit before pushing it up and looking back at him.
He looked over to her, as if nothing was amiss. “Yo.” he stated, and went back to the cards, placing some down. “What does this mean?”
“Ah..” he hadn’t seen her in an awfully long time… and all he was going to say was ‘yo, what does this mean’?
She pouted a little, puffing up a side of her cheek and folding her arms, before thrusting them down in annoyance at how rude that was.
Wasn’t he happy to see her too?
She came over to the couch, looking at his arrangement.
“Ah!” she noticed her own arrangement from this morning and quickly messed it up, compiling the cards up but not touching the ones he’d placed down. “So embarrassing!” she thought her house a mess, even though it was well presented and organized.
She held the piled of tarot cards messily placed into her hands over her face, shaking herself side to side in a cutely shy fashion.
He just stared at her, before looking back at his arrangement. “What’d it say?”
She peeked above the cards, and then smacked them down to the table, “Ohh, you could at least tell me first how you found me! O-or why~
He just leaned back, kicking his feet up to the table and draping one over the other, rubbing his nose and closing his eyes to relax a bit.
“You hollered out where you lived, remember?”
Amy twitched, the cards flying everywhere around her as her eyes turned white with shock. “I… I did?” she barely squeaked out.
“Yeah. Half the town heard ya.” Sonic moved his finger that was itching his nose to now scratch and poke inside his ear, twisting it a bit before he yawned and peeked an eye open. “I figured I’d check up on ya. Make sure no weirdos burst into your house or somethin’.”
That was over a year ago.
“H-huh? Weirdos?.. ah!” she suddenly opened her mouth wide, realizing…
She raced to her window, and gasped as she looked in the other room.
“You came in through my window!” she cried out, seeing the pots smashed and the dirt from his feet all over her kitchen floor.
Her face slouched down as a few quills stood out of place, giving her a drained look, “You’re the one who crashed into my house..” she groaned to herself, before turning around and seeing him looking at a card, turning it over and examining it again, before showing it to her.
“Hey, tell me what this means.” he asked once more, but instead of annoyed, Amy just sighed and conceeded.
“Well, I suppose boys will be boys. Hehe~” she figured it was his eagerness to see her that he took such routes to get in, and seemed to think of it as a compliment. (Author’s note: Don’t let people break into your house, even if you like them, please. lol)
She plopped right down next to him and scooted over, looking at the three arrangements of cards he had.
“Hmm… I don’t think you did it right.” she stated, and leaned over him to get to the cards.
Without her noticing… Sonic watched her as she leaned over, staring at her face a moment…
Unknown to her, he had silently and mysteriously missed her along his travels. He wasn’t sure why, but he just felt like a friendly visit wouldn’t hurt none.
With Eggman’s whereabouts unknown, he took the opportunity to seek her out.
The townsfolk were the hardest obstacles… Sonic was embarrassed to ask about a girl he had only met a few times already, and one who seemed overly fond of him too.
Luckily, only some of the townsfolk knew Amy only vaguely, and didn’t question his looking for her.
But sadly… others knew of her obsession, apparently, with him. And they snickered and would tease that he wanted to know where she lived.
He had stifled a comeback here and there.. twitching at trying to practice some self-discipline, but in a sense… he was desperate to see her again.
The real reason he wanted to see her?
He continued to let her lean over, arranging and doing her tarot, voodoo, whatever thing as he looked at the way her quills bent, her eyelashes curled, and even how that long sash around her head could so neatly tie up at the end behind her head.
She was cute, but there had to be something more than that.
Why did her name and face just… pop into his head all of a sudden?
He was resting after a while of nothin’, no leads, no real action happening, and suddenly remembered the first time he saw her.
Without pushing the idea away for a moment, he thought back on her and the time they had together… something was special about her.
What was it?
That’s why he had found her. He had to know, for himself anyway.
What was so special about the memory of Amy Rose?
“There!” she leaned up, right when his eyelids furrowed in his thoughts, before he turned to look at the table neatly put together again.
She giggled, “Okay, take the first three cards from the top.” she instructed.
He looked at her funny, his ears moving slightly forward in suspicion, before doing so.
“Great! Now put them down like so.” Amy pointed out a finger and placed it on the table, as he seemed kinda bored by the instruction and quickly placed the cards down.
She giggled.
“What!?” he quickly sat up, moving his arms up as he turned to her, looking slightly frustrated she wasn’t telling him what the deal was. “Hey! Don’t keep it to yourself! It’s my fortune, tell me!”
She continued to laugh, liking his reaction as he suddenly puffed and sat back, folding his arms and pouting like a little kid.
“Hehe, sorry! It says you like to jest to flirt. And you don’t care who hears it, just as long as they smile!” she beamed, and for a moment, he forgot her ‘obviously wrong’ interpretation to stare at the smile…
He remembered that smile…
It was that smile.. that…
His eyes widened.
“That’s it!” he leaned forward, arms out.
It was her smile!
He missed her smile!
“Ah… do… do you believe me now?” she tilted her head, not sure what he was talking about.
He closed his eyes and leaned back on the comfy couch, nodding to himself. “Yep, that must be it.”
“…Um… Do you jest with a lot of girls?” she sweat dropped, hoping that not the case.
He nodded again. “Has to be.” he told himself, still on his train of thought and just speaking out loud.
Her body suddenly rose with flames, showing her true opinion about that statement. “Emmmm… HMPH!” She puffed up a side of her cheek and swished it away from him.
“I wouldn’t have taken you for a casonova! Although… I could see why girls would fawn over you day in and day out… being so cool and famous as you are~ Teehee~” she seemed to look away and fantasize for a moment, before putting her two hands up by her cheeks, but then turning around swiftly back at him to glare. “You better not cheat on me.” she warned.
He suddenly snapped out of his thoughts and looked back to her, blinking, “Hmm? Hmm.” he narrowed his eyes, not caring about missing the conversation she was on.
He whipped his hand back, spun to be on top of the back of the couch, and stood firmly, arms folded together.
“Hey, Amy. Want to go for a ride?” he smiled, looking down at her.
“Huh? A ride?” Amy blinked, looking up at him before grinning and blushing, turning away to hide her face again.
For a moment, he thought he said something off, and tilted his head, “Huh? What’s wrong? Don’t you miss riding along with me?” He bent his body down but remained perfectly balanced as his feet kept a firm stance on the couch’s ridge.
“Hehehe~ It’s not that! I’d love to come!” she threw her arms up, moving to face the couch’s back and look back up at him as he leaned up.
“It’s just… my fortune today! It said that I should accept an unexpected invitation today! And then you showed up.” she blushed again and turned her face. “It really is destiny, isn’t it?”
Sonic thought about that briefly, before offering her his hand. “Well, I don’t know about destiny, but I sure do think your smile is pretty.” he didn’t seem to have any trouble saying that.
She looked back up, her face bright red as she kicked her feet out and squee’d into her hands.
“You really think so, Sonic?~
“What? Most girls are.”
“Ah, you’re so- wait.” she suddenly moved her hands down, looking annoyed by that comment. “Ohhh!” she leaned up, glaring up at his face that had to move speedily before the two accidentally collided.
So close to her face.. .he barely paid attention to what she was talking about as memories from before flooded his mind again… What’d he do after he saved her again..?
“You better not be picking up other girls for joyrides, Sonic! I’m your future bride, remember? No other girl should be as cute as me!”
“I didn’t say cute. I said pretty.” Sonic continued to stare… her expression, mannerisms,… everything she did was so full of life. It reminded him of something…
“Ohhh!!! You better not! I’m warning you, mister!” she flailed her arms around, being upset he would say such things, especially if he was saying them to other girls.
He suddenly smiled, his eyebrows lifting to a more tender and… kind nature.
“Be right back.” he winked, putting a pointer finger up and leaning away from her face.
He dashed off, a sudden excitement sprang in his chest that he wasn’t fully aware of before, but pulled him to take action.
She blinked, not sure what he was doing, but lowered her head to the back of the couch, pouting. “And there he goes again…” she sighed and drooped her eyelids. “There goes my hero again~ Ahh~ I missed him so much~
“You’re back!”
“Em-hmm. Here.” he held up a flower. “There’s a full meadow of these growing not too far from here. They kinda remind me of you.” he stated, being a bit more… honest than he ever had been before.
“Oh! A meadow!”
There it was. That smile he had silently missed for so long.
He smiled too, seeing her face glow like these flowers usually do. So full of life as they sway in the wind, rapidly losing petals as if trying to escape the ground through it.
He walked up, jumped, and placed the flower by her ear. “Come on. It won’t take long.” he hoped it wouldn’t pass to quickly either.
“Here, I’ll catch you. Like before.” he stepped two paces back, and held out his hands. “Trust me, I won’t drop ya.” he winked, charmingly.
She couldn’t believe it, this time, instead of her tracking him down, he had found her! And now, he’s taking her off to some adorable meadow to do some cute coupley things and they were going to live happily ever after and she would kiss his cheek and say ‘I do’ and ahhh~
She immediately jumped into the air.
Sonic positioned himself, and gladly caught her.
Her light weight in his arms brought back more pleasant memories.
“Alright, looks like we’re set.”
“Em!” she nodded, “Just like your fortune!”
“M-my fortune?” Sonic turned back, “What was that again?”
“Hehe, it said more than jesting, silly.” she batted her eyes, making him suddenly grow a little nervous.
“Uhh…” he suddenly sweat dropped. What did she think they were going to do in the meadow…?
He just wanted to enjoy the smile, she just wanted to give him a smile~
But it was certain, as Sonic ran off, and Amy explained, “It said you were all set to go! That there was nothing else you needed now but a cheery grin on your face!”
He knew it wasn’t his grin he needed to equip himself with for this journey.
It’s was hers.
“Huh, I wonder if this is what’s it’s like.” he stated, racing ahead.
“What, what’s like?” she was laughing a moment ago, enjoying the fast speeds like a roller-coaster.
He looked down at her.
“…Hmm…” he scrunched up his face.
Her?
“W-what?” She blinked up, innocently, having no idea…
He rolled his eyes up to the side, smiling and keeping it his little secret.
“Nuuuuthin’.” he stated, watching the fainted blue sky stretch across the plain as he ran her and that pretty smile to the meadow.
But he knew.
He always knew then.
Laying down to rest and watching her spin around and then lay opposite of him, their heads touching, looking up and then laughing or talking about the beautiful butterflies, the many pictures in the clouds, and the whole time listening to her sweet voice cry out in laughter, a melody he didn’t know he’d grown so fond of.
He knew.
He knew at last.
But that wasn’t going to change anything.
Only that he wouldn’t lose track of where she was again.
Just in case…
He got that urge to see her smile again.
He looked up, stopping himself from chuckling and feeling her head move up and down as she continued to give a beautiful open smile and laugh some more.
He smiled calmly too, blinking slowly.
Just in case.

Super Sonic Thieves Chapter 4
Chapter 4 - Thieves of the Caribbean
Intro Cutscene:
Sly: During our stay with Thaddeus Cooper, I was looking into the Thievius Raccoonus (being sure to keep Thaddeus from looking into it so he doesn’t gain any future knowledge) to spot any changes to my ancestors. Just as suspected, I found the entry for Henriette “One-Eye” Cooper had drastically changed. Born to Rioichi Cooper, my Japanese ancestor, in the 17th century, Henriette had all the thieving ambition of her father. But not so much his stealth. Rather than follow in his footsteps as a ninja, she went down the opposite path and became a pirate. Not sure how old Rioichi felt about that but I’m sure he became proud as Henriette became one of the most successful pirates of all time! By the end of her career, Henriette’s pirate booty was the biggest of them all!
Sonic: Hahahaha!
Sly: Shh! Anyway, point is, Henriette was awesome. Unfortunately, as I discovered from the Thievius Raccoonus, all of her exploits had disappeared! Not a trace of her entry remained! No doubt Dr. Eggman and his goons have interfered with Henriette’s entry into the pirate life. Once we were ready, the gang and I headed off to 17th Century Caribbean to kickstart Henriette’s career!
Sly Cooper and the Gang in…
*It starts off with a view of a mast of a ship until the sail unfurls down, showing the title: ‘Thieves of the Caribbean’ *
-----
Hub Layout:
The gang’s hideout is in an abandoned shop on the outskirts of town. The town itself is moderately size filled with various shops and bars for the pirates to drink at. Northwest of town is a jungle with a river, and is mostly uninhabited. Southwest of town is the pier where all the pirate ships float, waiting to be weighed anchor. Out at sea is plenty of pirate ships floating about and varying sized islands hiding treasure.
Enemies:
Monkeys: Brown monkeys in low-ranking pirate uniforms that swing across trees and rooftops in search of anyone trying to rob the loot of their captain. Provoking them may cause them to screech out, calling for other guards. Carries/drops 6-8 coins to pickpocket has 10% chance of treasure.
Parrots: Colorful birds in mid-ranking pirate garb that fly around also in search of pirate robbers. Attacking them will bring on a counterattack with a bite from their beaks. Carries/drops 8-10 coins to pickpocket has 25% chance of treasure.
Coconut Crabs: Orange crabs in high-ranking pirate clothes that are in constant guard of their captain with their flashlights. Unless you sneak attack them, don’t ever attempt to attack them save for strong characters like Murray, as only they can break through their shells and defeat them. A Pirate’s Life for Me?
Find Henriette Cooper
Bentley: “It’s becoming increasingly clearer with each passing time that we need to find your ancestors as soon as we can!”
Sly: “Ah, so you want us to go and find Henriette here, huh?”
Bentley: “Correct.”
Sonic: “It’s a good idea, especially against a guy like Eggman’s croney, Captain Whisker.”
Blaze: “Captain Whisker is a dangerous robot to go up against, for sure.”
Sly: “I wonder if he’ll be as much of a challenge as Lefwee was...”
Tails: “You’ll see. Come on, let’s help you find your ancestor.”
*The player takes control of Sly and Tails as they go around town, searching for pairs of guards sitting out in the open. The player must find a secret spot to hide to start the cutscene. This is done 3 times at a shop to the north, under a bridge in the middle of town, and a bar roof to the south.*
*At the shop*
Monkey Pirate 1: “Heh he, we sure did show Henriette not to mess with Captain Whisker!”
Parrot Pirate 1: *SQUAWK* “Showed her!”
Monkey Pirate 1: “She even sold the last of her ship stuff she could salvage.”
Parrot Pirate 1: “Wonder where she’s going? Last saw her going south from here!”
*At the bridge*
Parrot Pirate 2: *SQUAWK!* “Poor Henriette!”
Coconut Crab Pirate 1: “Heh, such a sad sack. Didn’t really feel right attack her considering what we did earlier to her ship and her mates.”
Parrot Pirate 2: “Maybe go drown her sorrows?!”
Coconut Crab Pirate 1: “Did seem to go south to the only bar that sells rum and lemonade.”
*At the bar*
Monkey Pirate 2: “Heh, did you see Henriette stumble by?” *He laughs*
Coconut Crab Pirate 2: “Seems she was already rummed up.”
Monkey Pirate 2: “Have to admit she holds well while holding all those bottles without breaking them.”
Coconut Crab Pirate 2: “Stumbling towards the docks, hope she doesn’t fall in the water and sink.”
*The player then heads to the pier. Upon finding Henriette at the dock*
Henriette: *Takes a long drink of her rum* Blow a man down is a blow me down trick. Blow - Blow - Blow - a man down…
*Sly and Tails cautiously approach Henriette*
Sly: Um… Henriette?
Henriette: HEY!!! Can’t you hear that I’m SHINGING?! It’sh very rude to interrupt one during a sea shanty. And don’t call me Henriette. I’m more privy to… Henri! *Takes another long jug at her rum*
Tails: Oh boy, I see someone’s has taken more rum than necessary.
Sly: I’ll say… *Puts hand to telecommunicator* Hey guys, we found Henriette. Er, “Henri”. But we’re gonna need help getting her to the Safe House. She's really drunk.
Bentley: Oh my! Okay, we’re heading out to help.
*The enemy pirates appear behind Sly, Tails, and Henriette*
Enemy Pirate: There you are, Cooper! We got you where we want you!
Henriette: UGH! WHAT DID I JUST SAY?! DON’T INTERRUPT ME DURING A SHEA SHANTY! That doesh it! Imma fight you all!
Tails: Oh man, you guys might wanna hurry! We’re getting ambushed!
*The player has to fight against the 4 waves of pirates with Henriette, also making sure not to let her be defeated.*
*During the fight*
Henriette: I may not have my cane but I can give a beating! Once this is over, YOU will be the ones needing a cane!
Tails: Man, for someone whose mental capacity has slowed, she sure can fight.
Sly: From past experience, alcohol can really bring the fight out of ya.
*Once all the enemy pirates have been defeated*
Henriette: Yeah, that’s right! Run away you stupid landlubbers! *To Sly and Tails* Sorry about yellin’ at you earlier. I shee now that you’re friendlies! Let’s celebrate our victory with a drink! *Chugs bottle of rum*
Tails: Oh, no thanks. I’m very underaged.
Sly: Yeah, and rum’s not my drink order. But we gotta-!
*Henriette falls onto her back and snores loudly, obviously passed out from too much rum*
Sly: Um...
Tails: Hehe, good thing we asked the rest of the gang to come. Now they can help us carry her to the Safe House.
*Job Complete*
-----
Sly: “Not wanting to chance another attack from pirates wanting to finish off Henriette, we hurriedly got her back to the safehouse. Once there, it took her a while to wake up in a hungover stupor. Through her slurring, she told us that she was severely depressed.”
Henriette: “Argh, how can I call myself a pirate anymore? A stupid robot pirate named Captain Whisker attacked my ship in the middle of the night. His first mate Johnny dragged me out forcibly and made me watch him kill all of my mates, steal all my booty of the past year, and then sunk my ship I worked so hard on! And worse, he then stole my cutlass canes! I… I’m a failure of the Cooper Clan. Rioichi… I failed you…”
Sly: “We did our best to try to relieve her of her funk, and tell her she’s unfairly had the deck stacked against her and we wanted to help her. It somewhat worked…”
Henriette: “No… Rioichi would want me to fight back myself… but how when I got nothing…”
Sly: “I then told her of our gang’s work of going through time, helping out our ancestors who were cheated, including Rioichi.”
Henriette: “Mmm… alright… you’ll be my crew, but I get to defeat that damn Captain Whisker!”
Sly: “None of Sonic’s friends objected and it was set. We would help my ancestor become a great pirate. Sounds like fun if you asked me.”
-----
Bentley: “From what I understand from Sonic and his friends, Captain Whisker is not a badnik to mess around. He’s probably gonna come back and finish the job so we are going to have to get moving on out of here. To do that, we have to build a ship. We know how to, but someone is going to have to gather the materials.”
Marine: “Oooh! Me! I can help find the materials! Sonic and I did it before!”
Sonic: “Heh, shouldn’t be much different to what we did in the Sol Dimension.”
Bentley: “Alright, since we don’t want Captain Whisker to get too much of an upper hand than he already as, we better canvas the bars and examine the info Whisker’s pirate crew have here.”
Rouge: “Leave that to me, I can bleed them dry of that.”
Murray: “Aw! I wanted to rough up some pirates!”
Rouge: “Mm, I guess I may need a distraction or a hand if things go south. Alright Murray, you’re with me.”
Murray: “YES!”
Henriette butts in suddenly. “HEY! What about poor ol’ me?! I wanna look for treasure! I can’t be a pirate if I don’t do pirate stuff!”
Bentley: “But I don’t got-”
Sly: “Uh, don’t worry about that, Bentley. I’ll help her with that. Besides, I’ve always wanted to embrace the pirate life.”
Henriette: “See, he gets it! Hooray!”
Bentley: “Right… well, we better get going!”
-----
Lemon ’Aided’ Information
Enter the first bar and take recon photos of the information there.
Enter the second bar and steal the information.
Fight the pirates of the 3rd bar and gain the last bit of information.
Rouge: “Alright, Murray, ready to become a distraction?”
Murray: “Always ready!”
Bentley: “Just do anything you can to drag their attention away from the information we need and get as much as you can.”
Rouge: “As an agent, that’ll be easy. And Murray should make it quite interesting.”
*The player enters the bar and finds a lemonade drinking contest going on.*
Murray: “Oh! You go to the rafters and take recon of the maps they have here! I’ll join the contest to distract them.”
Rouge: “Smart hippo. Alright then.” *She climbs onto the rafters.*
*First, the player controls Murray as they press buttons to drink up as many mugs of lemonade as they can. The more drunk will bring more of the pirates. Break the record, and all the pirates will be called away so the player can then control Rouge and take pictures of the 4 sea charts.*
*Once that’s done…*
Murray burps strongly, knocking out all the pirates. “Oop, excuse me.”
Rouge comes down from the rafters. “Heh, any escape would do. Come on, 2 more bars to go.”
*The player makes their way to the next bar.*
*They enter the bar and this time, the attention of the pirates immediately turn to Rouge.*
Pirate 1: *Wolf whistles* “Look, salty lads! A beautiful siren!”
Pirate 2: “I’ve never seen a lady dress so scantily, she must be a siren!”
Pirate 3: “I wouldn’t mind a piece of that booty, er, I mean, treasured lass!”
Rouge: “Oh? Such praise from the boys.”
Murray: “Reminds me of the time I was a geisha for a mission.”
Rouge: “What? A geisha? I- Never mind, this isn’t the time. I’ll distract them and you grab the blueprints around here.”
Murray: “Got it.” *He finds a corner to hide at.*
Rouge: “Right, Rouge, better turn on the charm. Heh, this is gonna be fun.”
*The player controls Rouge as she does a mini game similar to, er THAT, infamous minigame from Sly 4, but in a more tasteful manner (to her skills of course. :) ). Doing well will quickly drag the pirates away from the tables and to her. Getting all the pirates attention will bring control over to Murray as the player steals the 3 blueprints of Captain Whisker’s ship.*
*Once done…*
Rouge: “Alright boys, show’s over.” *She pulls out some grenade like device and drops it. It opens and releases a gas that knocks out all the pirates.*
Murray: “Wow! You really knocked them out!”
Rouge: “Heh, sometimes a man is better asleep. Come on, let’s go.”
*They leave and the player heads to the third bar.*
*They enter the 3rd bar and find some irate pirates.*
Rouge: “Hmm… drunk pirates…”
Murray: “How do we get by them?”
*One of the pirates notice them.*
Pirate 1: “Heeeeeey! It’s those landllllllluuubers that Cap- *Hic* -tain Whisker told us about!”
Pirate 2: “Let’s geeeet them, then Captain *Hic* Whisker will promote us!” *The pirates drunkenly get up.*
Rouge: “Oh? A bar fight, huh?”
Murray: “Heh, prepare to lose to ‘The Murray’!”
Rouge: “Hey, save some for my kicks!”
*The player controls the duo as they fight off 30 drunken pirates.*
*Once all are defeated*
Murray: “Once again, ‘The Murray’ proves triumphant!”
Rouge: “Now boys, will you kindly tell us where Captain Whisker is, or do we need to give you a worse thing than a hangover.”
Pirate 1: “Argh, no lass… please don’t… he’s outside of the harbor… waiting for you guys…” *He, and the other pirates, fall asleep.*
Rouge: “Hmm, seems we are in more trouble than we think.”
Murray: “Let’s hurry back to Bentley. He’s gonna have to hear this.”

Material Goods
Knock down trees and return them to the safehouse for wood.
Steal some cannons from some ships.
Steal some rope and sails.
Bentley: “Alright, I need you guys to bring stuff that we will need to build a boat big enough to fit most of us.”
Sonic: “Well, we need a lot of wood, and I bet the trees in the forest would be useful.”
Marine: “Ooh! Cannons! Boom! We can steal from the pirates for some at the pier!”
Sonic: “Guess that just leaves sails and rope, and that should be easy to find in a town like this.”
Bentley: “Excellent! You guys know your ship building! Normally I have to goad Sly and Murray exactly 100 times to look.”
Sonic: “Well, we did it in the Sol Dimension and can do it again.”
*The player takes control of Marine and Sonic as they first head on off to the jungle.*
*Once there, the player has Sonic use his homing attacks to snap the trees at the base and make them fall over (Watch out for being crushed. :P ). Once that’s done, then it’s a simple task of pushing/rolling the trees to the Safe House. Do this for ten big trees to move on to the next task.*
*The player then heads off to the pier to rob the ships of some cannons. After fighting off the pirates guarding them, Marine must hit a target switch on the side of the cannor to flip the cannon over, so as to not damage the front end. Then it’s just a matter of pushing the cannons to the safehouse. Steal 12 of them to move on.*
*Finally, the player just has to search through town, on the hunt for free rope and sails for the ship. Finding enough will end the mission.*

Pirating an Island
Pirate 2000 coins from the pirates and the island.
Sly: “Alright, Henriette, what would you like to do?”
Henriette: “I want to plunder treasure from the loser landlubbers on this island! I need to get back in the pirate groove!”
Sly: “Sounds like fun. How much should we steal to make you feel better?”
Henriette thinks for a second. “2000 coins! I want my booty!”
Sly: “Heh he, booty.”
Carmelita (In voice): “Don’t even think about it, Ringtail… not now…”
*The player takes control of Sly and Henriette as they plunder the town of its riches. Other than for the obvious coinage bouncing all over the place, Henriette also has ‘Pirate Sense’, which makes coins she steals from guards worth twice as much, and also raising the chances of getting treasures (also doubled) from guards.*
*Once 500 coins are collected*
Henriette: “Ah, how I missed the sparkle these coins make in the light.”
*Once 1000 coins are collected*
Henriette: “Just holding these bags of coins makes my spirits lift!”
*Once 1500 coins are collected.*
Henriette: “Oh? Almost there!”
*Once 2000 coins are collected, the mission is complete.*

Bentley: “Alright, I got some good news and bad news. Good news is the ship building is going by quickly, thanks to Tails, Marine, myself and the pirates we bribed thanks to the treasure Sly and Henriette found. Bad news is that the other pirates of Captain Whisker have heard about what we are doing, and planning to sabotage us.”
Sly: “I’m guessing you want us to help out build and protect the ship?”
Bentley: “Correct. Carmelita, you and Amy will stay on deck to protect the mast and cannons and Murray, you and Knuckles will stay on the pier and thin out the ranks for Carmelita and Amy.”
Murray: “ ‘The Murray’ will beat the sense into the pirates.”
Knuckles: “Hey, save some for my own fists!”
Carmelita: “We’ll do our best to keep the ship safe.”
Amy: “They better not mess with us!”
Bentley: However, as cruel and hypocritical it may be, we’ll also have to destroy the other ships while defending our own. We can’t risk letting these guys chase after us once we hit open seas and take us down with their experience and numbers. For this job, I’m gonna have Panda King and Blaze team up once again to put their combined firepower to very good use.
Panda King: *Chuckles ominously* These ruffians will learn to fear the power of fireworks, and respect its beauty.
Blaze: I’ll certainly enjoy ending the “careers” of the low-lives that are pirates.
Bentley: “Good, then this shouldn’t take long at all.”
Building a Ship
Protect the workshop from pirates.
Destroy the other ships.
*At the ship*
Carmelita: “Hey! Those pirates are trying to attack the building crew!”
Amy: “Let’s stop them before they can hurt them all.”
*The player has Carmelita and Amy fight off the pirates attacking the crew on the ship and some that come their way until Murray and Knuckles arrives.*
*Once Murray and Knuckles arrive, the player takes control of them.*
Murray: “Alright! We’re here!”
Knuckles: “We got this!”
Carmelita: “Hmmm… now that Murray and Knuckles are here, perhaps we should help the crew?”
Amy: “Good plan, we finish that much faster.”
*The player now fights off 10 waves of pirates and badniks, that come at higher numbers and harder defense.*
*Once all the pirates are defeated*
Murray: “No number of pirates can stop us!”
Knuckles: “They’ll think twice about fighting next time.”
*We jump cut to Panda King and Blaze.*
Blaze: “Ready to blast up their ships?”
Panda King: “The pirates will be in awe of their destructive beauty.”
*The player takes control of them and uses Panda King’s fireworks and Blazes fire to supercharge the fireworks and blow the ships to pieces. Destroy all 10 ships to move on.*
Blaze: “That’s all the ships sunk!”
Panda King: “Perhaps we should return to the ship and help them finish now.”
*Jump cut ahead an hour to the ship being finished.*
Bentley: “Alright, that’s it, the ship is finished!”
Henriette: “Yar! Now we can set sail! Splice the mainbrace and all that pirate stuff! I want to go now!”
*Upon setting sail*
Marine: Alright, Henri! Normally sailing a ship is bloody hard work that takes countless people to operate, but me, Tails, and Turtle guy managed to make this ship require very simple controls! To steer left and right, just use the L2 and R2 buttons! And when we’re fighting other ships, go up to the cannons facing them and press the Circle button on one of them! All the cannons on that side will fire and the cannonballs will hit the enemy! Be careful though, for the cannons will need to cool down before they can be fired again, those lousy blowhards.
Henriette: I don’t exactly enjoy being taught how to sail a ship by a child, but thanks I guess, kid.
*The player is free to mess around a bit to learn the controls as they leave the bay, when a cutscene starts in the open waters.*
*A ship covered in steel and larger that the player’s comes speeding in and floats close by. A metallic voice pierces the sea air as Captain Whisker comes into view.*
Captain Whisker: “Ah, I see the wee lass who thinks she can be a pirate has procured another ship, and some friends too. *Laughs* How sad.”
Sonic: “Captain Whisker!”
Cap. Whisker: “Hmm, you look familiar. What’s your name again?”
Johnny: I recognize that landlubber! That be Sonic the Hedgehog, and he’s brought that mutant fox, the princess, and that annoying raccoon sailor as well (the other one)!
Cap. Whisker: Oh… OH! Not you again!
Sly: “Why are you attacking my ancestor?!”
Captain Whisker: “Heh, same reason my and my other acquaintances have! Dr. Eggman has a plan involving your ancestor’s canes and displacing their history! I’m simply fulfilling my duty in the place where I’m most at home. I admit, though, I enjoy shattering a young lass’ dream of adventure and sinking her ship ‘n’ crew while making off with her booty!
Some of the guys snicker, unable to contain their inner immaturity.
Henriette: You bleeding, knuckle-dragging, fish belching bag of VOMIT! You killed me crew and downed my ship and it wasn’t even personal?! Oh, once we sink your ship I’m cutting your head off and mounting it in my captain’s quarters of my new ship!
Cap. Whiskers: WELL! Such a vulgar threat from such a young lass! Very well! Let’s fight right here, right now! You beat me, you get me head! But I get yours if I be the victor…
*The player is sent into a battler against Captain Whisker, controlling Sly and Henriette, and they do their best to keep the ship afloat and fire cannonballs at Whisker’s ship. But it is mostly a losing battle as his cannons can damage your ship more severely than yours can to his (they just bounce off.) Once the ships is near to sinking, another cutscene plays.
Bentley: “Uh, guys, we need to get away! One more cannonball from him and we’re sunk!”
Marine: “Oh! I got an idea, mate! Silver, can you help me?”
Silver: “Sure, what can I do?”
Marine: “I’ll focus on making a wave with my hydrokinesis, you lift it up higher so we can be swept far away!”
Silver: “Got it!”
*Marine focuses on the water between the ships and starts to make it lift up in a hill like shape. Silver helps her lift it high enough to reach the masts of the ship.*
Captain Whisker: “A wave? How is that gonna stop me?”
Marine: “Drop it, hard!”
*They drop it together, which creates a huge wave that pushes the ships far away from each other, the heroes ship going really far away.*
Captain Whisker: “Argh… lost them..., aw well. The sea will get them sooner or later. TIme to return home…” *The ship speeds away*

Bentley: “Alright, we are in deep trouble here. At our current ship strength, we have no chance at even damaging Captain Whisker’s ship. We need to find tech to make our ship stronger in all ways! Luckily though, it seems I have stumbled upon weak computer signals scattered across the sea. Since this is the past, it can only mean they belong to Captain Whisker. We better find out what they are and take them for ourselves.”
Sly: “Do you think we can do something for Henrietta too? She’s looking really sad right now.”
Bentley: “I guess we could go find treasure, but I’m not sure where to begin.”
Sly: “Seems obvious that we should just steal Captain Whisker’s treasure. Jerk deserves it for messing with her.”
Bentley: “Agreed, but we’re gonna have to find where it is first. We’re probably gonna have to keep an eye out for docked ships on islands.”
-----
Shanghaied!
Engage in pirate ship battles and rob the ships of their tech.
Bentley: “Five bogies off the forward bow, and since there’s a signal, it has to be Whisker’s ships!”
Sly: “Looks like they’re pretty weak, so we could take them on… wait… it looks like they have some technology on board.”
Bentley: “We might be able to use them! Don’t sink the ships, guys, just incapacitate them!”
Henriette: “That means shanghaiing them! I’m pumped! Let’s go!”
*The player is entered into a sea battle, like in Sly 3. First, you must incapacitate the ships of their cannons and mast, so they are sitting ducks. Then, Henriette and Marine will travel aboard each vessel and defeat the captains of the ship so the rest of the gang can steal the tech. Do this to all 5 ships to complete the mission.*

Where’s The Kaboom?
Gather the 5 mines floating around the sea.
Bentley: “Hmmm, mines… clearly from Whisker…”
Marine: “Should we destroy them?”
Bentley: “Perhaps… but I think I got a better idea.”
Sly: “Ooo, I see that devious grin… I sense hacking and destruction in our future.”
Bentley: “Oh yeah.”
*The player goes through a hacking mini game. Once it’s done.*
Bentley: “Aha! I deactivated the mine! Now we can dive underwater and grab it!”
Dimitri: “Did someone say diving! Greasy sweet, bro!”
Vector: “Why grab it?”
Bentley: “If you guys attach them below the ship, we can use them like, well, mines, and blast Captain Whisker in surprise!”
Dimitri: “The danger, I love it!”
Henriette: “Is it alright if I join them? I can swim.”
Bentley: “Well, if you can stay safe while doing it, I won’t stop you.”
*The player then goes swimming into the sea below the boat with the trio, in search of the mine’s anchor point.*
*Once it’s found.*
Vector: “Who should grab it.”
Henriette immediately volunteers before Dimitri can and grabs the anchor.
Vector: “Strong minded lady… and strong. :P “
Dimitri: “Best not mess with her, bro! Come on, let’s hurry and protect her for the return trip.”
*The player returns to the surface, and a cutscene plays of them attaching the mine. They jump back on the ship to see Bentley*
Bentley: “Alright guys, good job! I scanned the sea, and found 4 more mines floating about. Let’s go acquire those as well.”
*The player does this 4 more times to complete the mission.*
*Once completed*
Bentley: “Alright, that should be enough. Heh, Captain Whisker is going to be surprised, for sure.”

Rob 1000 coins and steal the map piece from the 2nd island.
Rob 1000 coins and steal the map piece from the 3rd island.
Rob 1000 coins and steal the map piece from the 4th island.
Sly: “Whisker ship spotted off the port bow, on land.”
Bentley: “Hmm… they possibly are stealing treasure on the island.”
Henriette: “Hey! Pirate speak! We call it BOOTY!”
*Sly and the other immatures giggle.*
Bentley: “Fine. Why don’t you take Sly, Sonic, Charmy, and Murray along and find 1000 coins worth of ‘booty’ so you can drag the captain of the ship out? Surely, they might carry a map to where they stash all their ‘booty’.”
Henriette: “Finally! Now you’re talking my language! Come on, Charmy, you first!”
*The player has them go around the first island in search of 1000 coins. Again, some are scattered on the ground, but also in the air, which Charmy can grab. And as usual, robbing pirates always works.*
*Once 1000 coins are collected, a cutscene shows of the Captain leaving the ship. That is your cue to then go after the Captain and steal his part of the map.*
*Once that’s done.*
Henriette: “Got it! A map piece!”
Bentley: “Hmm, bring it back and I’ll study it as you bring more.”
*The player then heads off to 3 other islands marked by waypoints and robs the island of 1000 treasure and the map piece of the Captain. Once all pieces of the map have been collected*
Henriette: Thank you so much you guys! I feel like a true pirate again! And with the map now fixed, we’ll be on our way to get big booty!
*All the partners snicker at that last comment*
Henriette: You know, maybe we should start calling booty something else, cause this is ridiculous.

Treasure Island
Follow the pirate map clues to find the treasure.
Bentley: “Eureka! I’ve found out where they’ve hidden their treasures, or at least the island. It has to be this one!” *A waypoint appears*
Henriette: “Well, what are we waiting for?! Sail away!”
*Once on the island*
Bentley: “Alright… it seems Captain Whisker left clues on where to find the treasure, so you’re gonna have to read them and follow them.”
Henriette: “Yar! Pacing away! Sly! With me!”
*The player has them head on to the island and follow the clues written on the pirate map that leads them all around the island, and to the treasure.*
*Once they find the end destination.*
Sly: “Hmm… it ends at this mysterious wall…”
Henriette rubs her hands on the wall for a switch “Obviously a hidden cave, just gotta find the- AHA!” *She finds the switch and a cave entrance is revealed.*
Sly: “Ladies first.”
*They both head down. Below, they find piles of treasure going for a while*
Henriette: “It… it’s a pirate’s dream!”
Sly: “Makes Kaine Island look empty by comparison.”
Henriette looks and notices something. “Oh? Is that? …” *She jumps into the piles and swims for a bit until returning with something in her mouth.* “My canes! Oh! How I missed them!”
Sly: “Well, no need to worry about your honor now. Let me call the crew and we will load the ship.”
Henriette: “Yeah… Oh!”
Sly: “Yeah?”
Henriette: “I think I remember where Captain Whisker and his men are.”
Sly: “That’s great! Where?”
Henriette: “Johnny, that weird green robot shark thing, was gloating about beating us up, and said something about how I’d never find them hiding on an island with a big skull rock on it.”
Sly: “Sounds like we have to pay them a visit.”
Henriette: “Gonna teach them a lesson about messing with Coopers, we are.”

Bentley: “Alright, I think we are ready to take on Captain Whisker with Operation: Battle Out On the Yargh- wait, who wrote this? That’s a terrible…”
*Stifled giggling is heard*
Bentley: “B… o… o… SLY!”
*Sly and the other immatures laugh, and even some of the non-immature ones for still continuing the joke and getting Bentley good.*
Bentley: “You’ve lost Operation naming, pal! Now, if we’re done being little children, we have to take on Captain Whisker. Getting anywhere close to the island is obviously going to provoke a response from his ship, and he’s gonna want to settle the score. But this time, we’re ready. We’re gonna drop the mines so his ship runs aground on them and explode the armor off, then it’s just a matter of blasting the ship with the cannons.”
Tails: “Destroying their ship is probably going to evoke Johnny to fight us, so we better be ready to fight him. Then it’s just a matter of defeating Whisker.”
Bentley: “We got our work cut out for us, but we should be able to succeed.”
-----
Operation “Battle Out On The Yargh”
Take down Captain Whisker’s Ship
Defeat Johnny
Look for Captain Whisker and defeat him.
*Once the pirate ship is close enough to the island, a cutscene plays of Captain Whisker’s ship  coming towards them.*
Bentley: “Full reverse, guys!”
*They turn their ship around and attempt to sail away from Captain Whisker’s ship, which is hot on their tail.*
Bentley: “That’s it… follow us… NOW!!!”
*Their ship gains a burst of speed, which lets them release the mines behind them. Whisker’s ship runs over them all, breaking off the metal armor and flipping the ship in the air 360 degrees.*
Bentley: “Attack them! We can incapacitate them while they’re dazed!”
Henriette: “Finally! Some revenge!”
*The player enters a sea battle with Captain Whisker’s ship. It may be slowed down, but it is still dangerous with its strong cannons. Best to attack their ship from the distance a bit. 5 full range cannon shots (About 30 cannonballs) will break the mast off Captain Whisker’s ship.*
*Once the mast breaks, Henriette and Marine raid their ship, only to find Johnny on the helm.*
Johnny: “Argh, so it be you two lasses that’ll exchange blows with me, huh?”
Henriette: “Don’t let our size fool you, you annoying tin can!”
Marine: “We can beat you!”
Johnny: “I’d love to see you lasses try! YAR!” *He takes to the air and zips around*
Henriette: “He’s a feisty one!”
Marine: “I got this, let me slow him down.”
*The player heads into a fight against Johnny the Pirate. In order to defeat him, Marine must first hit Johnny with her hydrokinetic water balls. Hitting him enough times will cause his propellor to fail and he’ll crash onto the deck. Once grounded, Johnny can only swing his small sword at you. This is then the perfect time to have Henriette wail away with her canes. Once enough damage is done, he’ll return to the air again to repeat the process. Do this 3 more times to defeat Johnny.*
*Once defeated, the other board and tie him up so he can’t escape. But they find the ship missing Captain Whisker.*
Sonic: “Hmm… where is Captain Whisker?”
Johnny: “Bah! You’ll never find him! NEVER! I was made for distraction!”
Henriette: “Quiet, prisoner!” *She smacks Johnny.*
Sonic: “Sounds like he might be back at ‘skull’ island?”
Sly: “All we can do is check.”
*The player is sent to ‘Skull’ Island with Sly and Blaze and go on the hunt for Captain Whisker. Like on Treasure Island, the player follows clues to find him, though his are much more dangerous to follow.*
*If you survive, the player ends up in front of a cave that they all enter. Down below…*
Sly: “Wow… it’s dark down here.”
Henriette: “Did anyone bring a light?”
Blaze: “Hang on…”
*She uses her pyrokinesis to light up the cave… to reveal dangerous stacks of TNT right next to where Blaze is standing.*
Blaze: “Uh-oh…”
Henriette: “Move, lass!” *She tackles Blaze away before the TNT explodes, causing a cave in that separates them and the rest of the gang, who are safe.*
Sly: “You guys alright?!”
Blaze: “Yeah! You guys?!”
Murray: “Yeah! We’re safe, but we’ll need to break you guys out!”
Captain Whisker lights the torches in the cave with his flamethrower. “Damn… didn’t do as I hoped, but at least I get to settle the score, with both ye lasses!”
Henriette: “WHOA!”
Blaze: “Captain Whisker!”
Captain Whisker: “No more talk! We battle for the others’ head now! Be prepared to go to Davy Jones Locker, lasses!”
*The player fights against Captain Whisker in the cramped cave space. Besides his flamethrower he showed earlier, he also can attack by launching his fists at you and creating shockwaves which rain rocks from the ceiling. You may think the cramped space is a curse, but it’s quite a blessing because he can sometimes knock himself out with the rocks falling from the ceiling or lose his fist in the rock walls, giving you time to attack him as he recovers. Just keep on your toes and Captain Whisker will easily go down.*
*Once defeated, Captain Whisker collapses in a heap.*
Captain Whisker: “Argh… defeated by the pirate and princess lasses... How honorable…”
-----
Outro Cutscene:
Sly: “It felt great to help Henriette and get her on the way to success. It took a little convincing to make Henriette not take the robots’ heads, but we able to take Captain Whisker and Johnny and return them to Sonic’s world and be handled with over there. Afterwards, we decided to honor Henriette with the ship and plenty of rounds of drinks at the bars at port. Heh, Henriette and Murray got into a lemonade drinking contest and it was pretty close with them drinking 100 glasses each, but Murray succeeded… and immediately burped and shot them into the walls. How fun that was, heh. I wonder what ancestor we’re gonna help next?”
Next Time: It’s time to get ready for war in WWI Germany.

Sonic & Tails: Beyond the Stars - Prologue
Prologue: All Is As It Seems...?
"...zzz..."
"Sonic."
"...zzz...zzz..."
"Sonic..."
"Zzz... zzz... zzz..."
"Hey. Sonic."
"Urgh... what?"
"We're nearly here."
"Oh! Great!"
Awakening from his deep slumber... on the wing of the Tornado... Sonic the Hedgehog slowly opened his eyes and wiped them, and when he could see more clearly, he was dazzled by what he saw.
The sea below their flight was just as faintly green as it was blue, making for a shimmering spectacle of colour. But what was up ahead, what the ocean surrounded, was even greater: An island of truly impressive size and scope. Far larger than South, Westside, and possibly even Angel Island. All sorts of sights and geography could be seen to the naked eye even from afar. And though you couldn't tell by looking at it from the side, if you looked at it from above, you would notice it's shape was perfectly circular, like a smooth gemstone.
This island, known to the world at large as Viridonia, was where Sonic and his best friend Tails were planning to take a well-needed vacation. Saving the world is hard work, and after all the trials these two have faced, you couldn't say they didn't deserve it. But is it possible that malicious intentions could come along to make a mess of their intended vacation time...?
Well... we'll get to that when we get to that.
"Looks stunning, doesn't it?" Sonic asked out loud, with a massive grin on his face.
"It sure does," answered Tails with a smile, as he took in the pleasant view. "I've heard great things about this place, but seeing it is another story. I can't even begin to think of where to start with somewhere so big!"
"We have all the time in the world for that, so what's the rush?" He glanced at the island once again, this time with a more thoughtful expression. "I just hope there's no trouble from Eggman this time around. We never get a break from him, do we?"
"Actually," Tails pointed out with a raised finger. "You told me there was no Eggman in those books that were lent to you. Well, technically there was a guy who looked like Eggman in the first one, but..."
"Alright, don't get technical with me," Sonic poked his tongue out in light jest. He then motioned towards the ground. "Okay Tails, we're getting real close, let's find a spot to land."
"Right away," the fox obeyed, before adding "And uh... don't worry, I made sure to install the landing gear this time."
"Oh. Nice."
------
They landed on an empty stretch of sand by the sea, having made sure they wouldn't land in a place that would cause too much interference. The little beach was peppered with turquoise rocks that looked and shined like real gems, and the sand itself was more white than it was yellow. Despite being by the sea, the town nearby had a very modern, yet elegant appearance. As Tails spent a little more time fiddling around with the Tornado, Sonic wasted no time in admiring the setting.
"Heh heh... just look at all this," Sonic said to himself as he marveled at the environment, hands on his hips. He was definitely liking the look of his vacation spot. "So much to see, so much to do. And it's just me and Tails."
"~Soniiiiiic!~"
"And... Amy?"
Sonic turned to his right to find none other than Amy Rose, who was currently sprinting over to him with a big grin. Her younger friend, Cream, was tagging along behind her.
"Fancy seeing you here!" Amy beamed. Her tail was unashamedly wagging away in excitement.
"Oh uh, hey Amy..." Sonic muttered out of surprise. Not disappointment, or annoyance, just surprise. "Didn't know you'd be here... why ARE you here?"
"Isn't it obvious? We wanted to go on a vacation of our own! And we just HAD to come here when we read all about it." She looked over to Cream, who simply nodded. "We haven't seen much of the place yet, but there's no hurry, right?"
Sonic looked over at Cream, as if he was expecting something from her.
"She's telling the truth, Mr. Sonic," the rabbit assured.
"Okay, good."
"Huh? What do you mean?" The pink hedgehog frowned as she crossed her arms. "You didn't think I just followed you here like some creepy weirdo, did you?"
"NO. No. Of course not. I'm sure you wouldn’t do that... not intentionally."
"Good! We didn't know you would be here, but what a great turn of events that you are! Maybe we can discover the Rainbow Paradise together... and find the perfect spot for the two of us, hmm?" She winked playfully, complete with a little spin.
"...Maybe. Maybe. We'll see," Sonic said in a very neutral manner, although he couldn't help but smirk at his friend's ever present determination. As he walked off to see how Tails was doing, Amy turned and noticed that Cream looked uncomfortable despite the lack of any apparent danger.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Amy asked out of concern. "You still feeling a little anxious?"
The rabbit just nodded silently. Her hands were mildly fidgeting.
"Well, that's okay, you know." She put her hand on Cream's shoulder. "But your mother wouldn't have let you come with me if she felt it would be a bad idea... although then again... she didn't mind you taking on evil monsters... or evil robots..." She shook her head and hoped her friend didn't hear that part. "This is meant to be a good time for both of us, Cream. It's why I brought you along, after all."
"I know, and I appreciate that very much, Amy," the girl thanked her politely. "Maybe I could have a little look around... but I won't go too far away from you, okay?"
"I know you won't," Amy smiled.
Meanwhile, Sonic was busy pondering to himself. "Rainbow Paradise... Rainbow Paradise... never heard of it. Sounds made up. You ever heard of it, Tails?"
"Heard of what?" asked the fox as he was in the middle of reading the guidebook he had about Viridonia's sights and spots.
"The Rainbow Paradise."
"Nope, new to me. Sounds made up."
"Yeah, I thought that too."
"You said that too."
"Hey now, you better not be poking fun at my habit to babble again." The Blue Blur raised an eyebrow jokingly.
"My bad. But you do the same thing with me when I do that."
"Yeah, that's true."
And they both had a hearty laugh together.

ADVENTURE FIELD: Lime Shores
Welcome to the first hub of the game. There are quite a few hubs in the game, but for obvious reasons this is the only one you can play around in for the time being. Things might be very humble and not particularly intense so far, but fear not, that'll all change soon enough. This doesn't count as a spoiler, because it should be blatantly obvious that something's gonna happen, otherwise there wouldn’t be a story. You can probably guess who will be responsible for it too. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
Lime Shores covers both the town and the beach it's next to. As mentioned before, the beach has plenty of rocks that might as well be gemstones from the way they look and shine, and the sand is very light in colour. The town on the other hand is very reminiscent of England. More specifically, Birmingham, Solihull, and Stratford-upon-Avon. A perfect blend of old and modern architecture all around, and a very humble yet proud atmosphere all around. (And classy lamp posts everywhere!)
Right now, you can't really do too much aside from talking with the locals. Said locals will be all too eager to tell you such interesting facts like:
"Oh my god! You're Sonic the Hedgehog!"
"I can't believe Sonic the Hedgehog is here!"
"SONIC! SONIC! ...I don't know who you are, but everyone else seems to be excited, so I should be too! SONIC! SONIC!"
Yeah, they're all very hyped up about the hero showing up in their area. Maybe they'll be a little more helpful and informative later on once they've calmed down.
So what to do for the time being? Head over to the beach where Tails is, and you'll discover that for whatever reason - maybe he read the script ahead of time - he's set up a Virtual Reality training system, not unlike the one he used with Emerl all those years ago. Talk to him, and he'll ask if you want to work on your moves for a bit. Don't be fooled by this setup. Unlike most tutorials within the story, you're NOT forced to do it if you don't want to. If you say No, the story will go on ahead, and you won't have missed out on anything. No worries. No tedium. No problem!
But for the purpose of this... hypothetical guide, let's pretend that you said Yes so that we can go over the tutorial anyway. Don't worry. It's not long.
------
ZONE 0: Light Speed Simulation
Note that when you start, you're given the option to pick between Sonic or Tails. Like in Sonic Rush Adventure, you can pick between characters whenever you want for each act or boss. Very convenient.
This one-act zone takes the form of a neon grid in a pitch black area. Most of the grid is blue, but certain parts of the architecture - such as loops, and crates for you to destroy - are green in order to help you recognise them more clearly. There's even some pools of water, but because this is just a simulation, you never run out of air for this one. (Of course, you are helpfully reminded that you won't be so lucky when it's time to face real water.) Amusingly enough though, the infamous countdown still ticks away in this area, but when it reaches zero... nothing happens, and your character remains completely dumbfounded for a second.
This tutorial does not require you to go through certain motions in a specific order. Nor does anyone tell you what to do. This is nothing more than one big playground for you to get your teeth into at your own leisure. There's no end to the zone either, it only ends when you choose to quit.
The controls of Sonic and Tails are for the most part identical to their Sonic Adventure incarnations. But there are a few key differences:
• Sonic is a good deal faster than Tails, even though the latter is still legitimately fast in his own right.
• Tails is able to keep flying for a longer period of time compared to how long he could fly in Sonic Adventure.
• Sonic keeps his ability to Parkour from Sonic Lost World, in addition to his ability to wall jump from various 3D games. Although in this case, the latter takes a page from Super Mario 64, in that the wall jump is only activated when you actually jump against a wall, as opposed to just randomly locking onto the wall after a homing attack.
• Like in the 2D games, Tails is able to swim in water, but his swimming speed is a little faster in this game, more reminiscent of the underwater charging in Spyro 2 and 3, aka the best 3D swimming mechanics that have ever set foot on this earth. But Tails still needs air bubbles like Sonic, so keep that in mind if you’re too deep to swim to the surface.
• Due to there being no Adventure-esque upgrades in this game, Tails’ Tail Spin attack reaches a middle ground here, in that he can spin infinitely for a select period of time before stopping. But don’t worry, the tired out period doesn’t last for a long time, so there won’t be any annoying situations like enemies hitting you repeatedly whilst you’re unable to react.
When you feel you've had enough of fooling around here, proceed to quit at the pause menu, and the story will continue immediately.
------
In an effort to get herself acquainted with where she'll be staying for the next few days, Cream had wandered into a nearby forest, accompanied by her loyal pet, Cheese. She took her time looking around, making sure she didn't get too lost in the place. The forest reminded her very heavily of the one she had went through a long time ago with Amy and her other friend, Big. Various fruits of peculiar size could be seen on the trees, and even though it was clearly daytime, fireflies could be seen lighting the place up. The young rabbit was impressed with the scene, an innocent smile having planted itself on her face the whole time.
"It's so pretty, isn't it Cheese?" The Chao nodded. "Maybe it was a little silly of me to get tense. It's just a new experience for us, you know? I wonder if Amy would like to see this... Maybe Mr. Sonic would like it too?"
"Like he would care what YOU think!"
"Huh?"
Right on cue, a small gang appeared on the scene, and it was without a doubt the most stereotypical gang of hoodlums you had ever seen. They were all roughly the same height, and they looked to be within a similar age group as Sonic. There were four of these blatant wrong'uns in total: a panther, a lime gecko, a grey rat, and a light blue falcon. The panther was wearing a black tuxedo, the gecko was wearing a purple zoot suit, the rat a brown trenchcoat, and the falcon a white fedora.
They looked incredibly goofy, but they were still intimidating enough in the eyes of young Cream.
"This is Sonic the Hedgehog you're talking about!" the panther said incredulously. "The world famous hedgehog! He doesn't have time for little brats like you!"
"Yeah!" The falcon shouted in agreement, flapping his wings.
"What...What do you mean?" Cream asked, with a hint of upset.
"He means..." the gecko started, in a slightly indecipherable accent. "You are... lacking in importance... for someone like... the hedgehog."
"Yeah!" The falcon agreed again, flapping his wings again too.
"That's not true..." Cream muttered fearfully, as she slowly took a few steps back. As if by instinct, she covered Cheese with her hands to protect him. "Mr. Sonic cares about all of his friends..."
"Yessss! For publicity!" The rat cackled in a completely over-the-top manner, complete with clasped fingers. "You're a blip on the radar to him! And so is everyone else! People like him only care about themsssselves!"
"Yeah!" Once more from the falcon, complete with the flapping of his wings. It became abundantly clear that the falcon had absolutely nothing to add to this already ridiculous discussion.
"Why are you guys saying this? None of that is true! Mr. Sonic does care!" The poor rabbit was getting into a panic.
"Because it's true!" The panther took a step closer to Cream. "Anyone with a brain can see what a world-renowned superstar truly thinks of weak, helpless, useless little girls like you..."
Cream looked like she was ready to cry, even as her grip on Cheese grew tighter. She only just got here, and already she was having a scary time. She took another step back, but the panther took another step forward. Though Cream could have very easily taken care of these guys like nobody’s business through the awesome power of her pet Chao, she was too distraught by their slander to consider the thought. But just when the rest of them started taking a few steps forward themselves, as if to overwhelm the rabbit all the more, a brand new voice emerged out of nowhere. A low yet feminine one.
"You guys stink."
The four members immediately looked around in surprise at the new voice that had joined the conversation. They searched and glanced for where the voice came from, and their expressions indicated a sense of familiarity. After a few unsuccessful moments of searching out the source, the source decided to reveal itself instead.
Emerging from the shadows was a female figure, her fur a gentle light green, and her eyes a cool brown. She appeared to be older than anyone in the gang. She was wearing a light tank top, trousers, a pair of knee-high boots that were completely flat at the heels, a pair of gloves that reached up to her elbows, a headscarf atop her head, and a bandana scarf covering the lower half of her face. With the exception of her brown trousers, all of her clothes were blue, three different shades used in total.
It wasn't immediately obvious at first glance, but you could tell from her lengthy tail, and her equally lengthy ponytail, that the young woman was meant to be a horse. You could also tell from the look of dread on the gang's face that they've seen this person before. But what caught Cream's attention the most was the way the woman was walking over to them. It was very... slow. Deliberate. Almost meticulous, even. She didn't understand why the woman was walking like that, but before she could think more about it, the gang was already talking to her. The latter simply stood there, calmly, with one hand on her hip.
"Uh, hey there!" The panther swaggered about in an obvious attempt to save face. "How ya doing? We were just giving the kid a warm welcome, we thought you'd like to join us?"
"No thanks. I don't greet people by making them doubt themselves. Least of all young children." She held her nose high as a sign of disapproval, not that you could see it due to her bandana obscuring it. "This is the most pathetic thing I've seen out of you yet. You lot are becoming parodies of yourselves by the day. What reason do you have for spending your time putting down this girl?"
"Well... you see..." the gecko reasoned, his eyes darting left and right. "It was... the boss... He wanted to... give our regards... to the newcomers."
"By threatening them."
The rat grinned sheepishly as he cowered away. "Some people have a rocky exterior?"
"Haven't heard that justification before." Her right hand held up her left elbow as she rested her head on her left hand. Her eyes indicated a sense of fatigue. "Don't bother with the excuses. I'm going to ensure that none of you ruffians cause a disturbance for our visitors. This is not up for debate. And that guy you speak so highly of? He does care about his friends, inside and out. What he doesn't care for is people who spend their time causing trouble and making a complete imbecile out of themselves." She sarcastically waved a finger at the group. "Kinda like you guys, right?"
"Yeah!" The falcon shouted yet again, to which the other three members glared at him. The falcon just shrugged.
"Ha, a bit of common sense from one of you at least." The woman made a fluttery shooing gesture. "Now away with you, please. It's rude to pester visitors like a bad smell."
Without a single argument, all four members of the gang bolted out of the forest like their lives depended on it. The woman stood there for a few seconds with a stone-cold stare, making sure they were definitely out of the picture. All the while, Cream wondered to herself why the gang had been rendered so easily skittish when the woman had made no indication from either her tone or her body language that she was going to attack them.
The horse turned to her right to face the rabbit. As she walked up to her, Cream still felt nervous and intimidated, something that the horse sensed right away. So, very slowly and carefully, she knelt down so that she was equal to Cream's level of height, and after a few further seconds of examining the girl, the woman lowered her bandana to reveal the rest of her face. Despite the blocky facial structure you would expect for a horse, the face of this one was instead a lot rounder and softer.
"You okay there?" asked the horse in a comforting tone.
"I... think so, yeah," the rabbit replied shyly. "I'm sorry if I caused a lot of trouble. I could have gotten Cheese to handle it, but it didn’t occur to me. But thank you for defending me, Miss... Miss..."
"Lutrudis," the woman answered for her. "The name's Lutrudis. And you didn't cause any bother at all. Those guys have had a history of doing nonsense like that. They like to fool around with everyone for reasons I don't quite understand. I'm just glad I arrived in time before things got out of hand." She took Cream's hand and covered it gently with her own, indicating to Cream that she had no reason to feel afraid of this person. "Are your friends a fair distance away from here?"
"No, they aren't. They were at the town the last time I saw them." Cream looked left and right, with a worried expression. "But I think I've gotten lost in this forest after all. I didn't mean to go too far away... Oh, I should have stayed with Amy..."
"I can take you back to your friends if you want," Lutrudis offered.
"Would that be okay?" Cream asked. "Because I don't want to waste your time..."
"You wouldn't be wasting my time, sweetie." She smiled warmly. "I've got little better to do anyway. Your friends wouldn't want anything to happen to you, right? And neither would I."
Cream looked at Cheese, who in turn glanced at Lutrudis, as if he were silently coming to his own conclusions on whether she could be trusted. He nodded, and the girl felt at ease. "Okay... If you’re sure that would be alright, Miss Lutrudis."
"You don't need to be so formal with me, Cream," the woman assured, still smiling. "Just Lutrudis will do." She slowly raised herself back up, every bit as careful as she was when kneeling down. And as she did this, Cream had a question to ask.
"How do you know my name? We've never met before... And you've never met Mr. Sonic before, have you? So how do you know about him?"
"Well, you guys are heroes, aren't you? Of course I know about you all. Doesn't take long for the word of heroics to spread." She held Cream's hand, and they began to walk ahead. As they walked, Cream felt more relaxed around the horse, as did Cheese. But not long later, another question popped up in the rabbit's mind.
"Miss Lutrudis?"
"Yeah?"
"I don't mean this in a bad way, but... why are you so careful with your movement? The way you walk, and crouch, and..."
"Heh, so you did notice it then." Lutrudis lightly chuckled as she looked down at Cream. She looked as though she wanted to add something, but the words weren't quite reaching her mouth. Eventually, she returned to looking ahead.
"I'll explain when we get back. I can demonstrate it more that way."
"Okay then." Cream then proceeded to beam brightly. "My friends are really nice, you know. I'm sure you'll like them! And I think they’ll like you too!"
Lutrudis simply chuckled once more.

NEXT TIME: The game properly begins! And the first zone ain't your typical Green Hill... but not your typical City Escape either...
